[Q] Galaxy S2 won't go into download mode since ICS install - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Have an AT&T Galaxy S2, was able to get into both recovery mode and download mode fine prior to install of Android 4.0.3. Following install of Ice Cream Sandwich, neither the back or search key works, and screen does not auto-rotate, and no longer have root. Try to go into recovery mode, just goes straight to Samsung logo and loads home screen. Have tried all combinations of volume and soft keys, nothing works. Can't do it through ROM manager because I lost root privilege. Anybody have any ideas of how I can make this work? I used android commander, can get into recovery mode but not download mode, which doesn't help for going back to stock ROM. Help, please.

Did you flash an I9100 ICS on your I777? That may have flashed a secondary bootloader? That would change the button configuration for entering download mode.
Buy, build or borrow a jig. It should put you into download mode.

This is the i9100 section, not the i777, which is the ATT SGS2. If you flashed anything from here, you should have a lot of problems. Go the i777 section of xda and see if you can find a stock rom to install via odin.
Or just check out samfimrware for stock rom. (i777 rom)

Home button DEAD! Bootlop!

Hello everyone,
I'll start explaining very quickly. this morning, the home button suddenly dead. it NOT works at all. an it's an hardware problem, because I can't either access recovery mode. and that's the point. I was using cyanogenmod 9 with ICS, and when I flashed the samsung STOCK rom with ODIN, I get bootlops. I tried with the ICS samsung stock and the GB one, same thing. I saw the guide in the other section of the forum, BUT they say that I have to do a full wipe in recovery... well, I can't, my home button is dead. I'm trying to do this because the service center will "test" the home button with the phone turned on, but if I get bootlops... well, He will suspect that there is something wrong (the unofficial roms, etc...) any idea to correctly flash a samsung stock rom with odin without getting bootlops? thank you so much :crying:
I have the same problem (my home button died). However I still can boot the phone. I think what I am going to do is order the JIG to boot into download mode and delete the number of custom flashes and then install the Stock ICS and send it to Samsung. Maybe you can do the same.
You can try soft reboot to cwm. But download mode? I don't remember if any kernel had option to boot directly to download mode. Maybe old Glitch have this. Then you will be able to flash stock via odin.
But if there are bootloops than only jig is an option.

[Q] Bootloader destroyed - download mode stopped working

Hello everyone
I need the help of some professionals around here
I just made a mistake while trying to root my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) with Stock ICS (4.04) on it. I did the following:
I followed this a Tutorial to root the tablet with Odin.
1) I booted the tablet into download mode
2) Then I used odin to update the bootloader
3) Instead of clicking the "PDA" button in Odin I clicked the "Bootloader" button and started the flash process - which was the mistake
3) After this the tablet restartet
The problem is now the following. I cannot boot into the download mode anymore (the normal system still boots fine). When I press volume up + power the selection screen appears. When I then choose download mode, the screen turns black and the tablet restarts. I seem to have destroyed the bootloader.
So all methods to root the tablet with ODIN for flashing a new bootloader fail because I cannot get into download mode anymore.
So I tried the root method by copying the Rooting-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10.1.zip to the root directory. Then I went to the stock recovery mode and choose the option "update from external sd card" to install the root. Unfortunately I get the following message: "E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard]". I cannot find any way to choose a file. I read the the mount point in ICS to /sdcard is set during the boot process so its not available in the stock recovery mode.
So I am kind of stuck now because I cannot use Odin and also cannot use the stock recovery mode to do anything.
I also tried the following:
Reset to factory defaults - Didnt helpt still cannot get into download mode
Install Mobile Odin to flash a stock bootloader - did not work because there is no root
Does anyone of you have an idea? I am really stuck at the moment and would appreciate any help.
Try the emergency firmware recovery or re initialization tools in Kies and see how you get on. Never used them myself though so don't know how they're supposed to work. (May just try to invoke download mode?! I dunno!)

I would try a comple, and I mean a COMPLETE drain of the battery. It'll take a week but maybe that's your best option

If you've got Clockwork Mod recovery installed, you should be able to install superuser to give you root permission.
Or are you still running stock recovery?

[Q] CanĀ“t Open Download Mode

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i and have been using CM 7.2 with no problems, but now, as I want to send it to samsung support due to a microphone problem, I wanted to flash stock rom.
Unfortunately, I did flash the stock rom but the wrong one, as I believe I should have flashed the stock rom from my operator. The phone is working perfectly, except that now I cannot open Download Mode to flash the proper stock rom.
Everything is working, even recovery mode, I just can't open download mode.
I've already tried the button combo, reboot download through terminal emulator and through adb, and none of this worked.
When I use the button combo, it stucks with a black screen with the backlight on. Throught terminal emulator and adb it just reboots normally.
Do you think a jig could solve my problem?
Does anybody has a solution for this? I would appreciate very much.

Stuck on bootloop and can't access Recovery nor Download mode :(

So I have a Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 that I haven't used in months because the USB port wasn't working, therefore, cannot charge. I fixed it today, charged it and it as working (it as slow though, running CM13)
I wanted it to downgrade it back to JB so I can give it to mom but I didn't flash a suitable recovery first, so I flashed JellySnap ROM on TWRP recovery for CM13 and now it's stuck on bootloop (reboots every 4 seconds but skips the Samsung GS2 intro)
No the big problem is that the home button along with the menu key and the back key don't work, so I can't boot into recovery or download mode, so can't use ODIN.
Is there anything else I can do? Can I get to flash it or wipe it or at least access recovery/download mode through the PC (adb?) or using another phone via OTG?

What you mean "home, menu and back button don't work"? They are broken or you can't use them to get into recovery or download mode? You may be able to make or but a JTAG to get into download mode. If you get this far, you should be able to flash a recovery/kernel or stock rom with odin. Otherwise, you may have to take it to a repair center
