There is currently no root for .21 update.
But, you can unlock the bootloader and flash a ROM that is already rooted, which will give you root. But that will void your warranty (by unlocking the bootloader).
you can downgrade using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23872834 but the question is :
after rooting old version, is it possible to upgrade to .21 keeping to root mode ??
yes, you downgrade (I went to .14 because it was the only one I could find) then you root, then you download and install ota rootkeeper from the market. Then you go back up to .21 and believe me this is a complete oversimplification of the process.
DO NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER JUST FOR ROOT
What I want to root on .21, I must say that I am very happy that I did not unlock my boot loader. Last week I had to send my TFP with dock back to Asus as it would never charge the tablet when connected to the dock. Therefore, they quasi upgraded me from a tfp201-pad 0214 to the 0215.

Hi
I know that's propably a noob question but I forgot to install rootkeeper before I updatet to .21 firmware (europe), now my root is gone (at least that's what I think cause when I type in terminal emulator su, I get a permission denied error...)
I rooted my prime with sparkyroot app.
my question is: can I re-root my prime (with the same method) without getting bricked or anything like that?
From what I have read, there is no root method for .21 yet, just feel fortunate my tablet got hosed by the update entirely and I had not unlocked the bootloader so I am at the mercy of asus
Unless you want to unlock your bootloader and lose future OTA's and your warranty, there's no way to root .21 until they find a new exploit just have to wait
Hi all,
Prime Transformer using Asus for a month. Detail the issues which the forum for a while and looked, I tried some of the root methods. Authorities, however, and 9.4.2.21 update lost. I am writing this message I can think of something to consult.
Pending the development of a new method, like helping a friend with OTA Root Keeper backups can tell us where can we solve this problem?
For example, you share with us to take backups of AppBackup Rootkeeper OTA with the application?
Best regards from Türkiye.

Ok thanks
Just curious about the Primeeval Stock Rom
after seeing this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24667031&postcount=18
i was wondering if it is possible to flash this on a Prime that is not Rooted or unlocked?
the thread suggest that you cant have an unlocked Prime, but do i need it to be rooted?
Otherwise is there a way to install CWM without root and without unlocking?
I only ask because after rooting my prime under 9.4.2.15 i realized i had the serial unknown error, so i could not do an OTA update to 9.4.2.21, after a manual update to 9.4.2.21 i now have a serial, but rootkeeper could not restore root, I NOW know that you cant do manual updates and still keep root.

In order to flash a custom ROM onto your Prime, you need the bootloader to be unlocked. You do not need root to do it as there are fastboot methods for both rooted an unrooted Primes.
thanks, although i think they mention on that thread that its a stock rom that wont work on unlocked devices.
i guess you have to be rooted instead.
Hello,
PC Companion says that i have a new update, but i've unlocked and rooted my phone, so when the install should begin, an error pops up saying that i have a modded firmware and i cannot update it.
So, i think the same issue will go on when next week or next year ICS will be released.
The question is: what i have to do to update my XS? I've to flash the ftf loosing the recovery and then reinstall it? Doing that, i will lost all the apps and everything on my phone?
Thank You very much
If you have unlocked bootloader, you cannot update using the official method, but only through flashtool.
If for some reason you want to use the official way, you should relock the bootloader, here is the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
As far as my knowledge goes: You could backup your apps, lock your bootloader, upgrade to ICS, unlock bootloader, achieve root, restore apps. You'll probably have to wait for root for ICS though, shouldn't take long at all.
Or at least that's how I hope it will work.
So, the faster way is to wait for a custom rom correctly packed to be flashed via recovery
Thank guys
I have not unlocked the bootloader.
I've rooted version .15
I have a S/N unknown tablet so I don't get OTA updates
Is there any way to update to the latest version (.28?) and keep root?
Or any reliable way to root a .28 tablet with a S/N unknown (only an APK method worked for me in .15)?
Just thought I'd check since I haven't seen if there have been any updates since a few months ago.
Hi,
I have a rooted MB860 with 4.5.141. I got a popup for upgrade to 4.5.145. Can I install the update with my phone being rooted?
Pls clarify.
Yes you can install on a rooted phone. Now does anybody have root for this?
I was rooted but not unlocked with version 4.5.141. I let the update do it's thing yesterday and all went well except I lost root, which was expected but now I am lurking/stalking the board looking for info on how to re-root.
2/23/13: I was able to re-root using the same pre install method I used to root 4.5.141. Now should I wait for a reliable BL unlock method or trade it for a comparable Samsung model? It just fits in my hand so perfectly that I haven't been able to give up on it even though my primary phone is now an SGS Note 2 (SGH I317)
