[Q] Upgrade .15 to .28, locked bootloader, no OTA, keep root - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have not unlocked the bootloader.
I've rooted version .15
I have a S/N unknown tablet so I don't get OTA updates
Is there any way to update to the latest version (.28?) and keep root?
Or any reliable way to root a .28 tablet with a S/N unknown (only an APK method worked for me in .15)?
Just thought I'd check since I haven't seen if there have been any updates since a few months ago.

[Q] Installing the new 4.5.91 OTA

My last update was the official Moto 1.8.3, and then rerooted with GingerBreak. My phone is also unlocked for carrier (not the bootload).
If I install the new 4.5.91 released by Motorola, will I lose the root or the carrier unlocking?
I am not sure about the carrier unlock but i am thinking that if the update is being pushed out by your carrier, you should be okay. But also note that by updating you will lose root access forsure.
Hopefully someone else can further answer your question as I am not 100% sure about carrier unlocks and GB updates pushed out by other carriers.

[Q] Honeycomb Update Problem

Hey Guys,
After coming back from an long journey, today I realized that HTC has published official honeycomb for my HTC Flyer, I did try to update my device many times. I am just recieving a warning which is like at the attached image and it does not update my device. My device is rooted.. Can anyone help?
DO NOT EVER install an OTA or other official update if you are rooted. You will either find that the update will not work (seems to be your case), get stuck in a bootloop, or get unrooted. On other devices in the past, it can even cause you to lose root, and not be able to get it back until the devs devised a downgrade method.
If you are rooted with Revolutionary, globatron's method to update to HC is what you want:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
^^Yep. Since you are rooted most likely, if it is doing an MD5 check, something has changed which will prevent the OTA from ever going through. You need to either update with custom rom or RUU back to original and then try the official update. However, like redpoint73 has already mentioned, I would recommend upgrading via custom rom.

There is currently no root for .21 update.
But, you can unlock the bootloader and flash a ROM that is already rooted, which will give you root. But that will void your warranty (by unlocking the bootloader).
you can downgrade using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23872834 but the question is :
after rooting old version, is it possible to upgrade to .21 keeping to root mode ??
yes, you downgrade (I went to .14 because it was the only one I could find) then you root, then you download and install ota rootkeeper from the market. Then you go back up to .21 and believe me this is a complete oversimplification of the process.
DO NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER JUST FOR ROOT
What I want to root on .21, I must say that I am very happy that I did not unlock my boot loader. Last week I had to send my TFP with dock back to Asus as it would never charge the tablet when connected to the dock. Therefore, they quasi upgraded me from a tfp201-pad 0214 to the 0215.

[Q] Flashing blob on Prime

Just curious about the Primeeval Stock Rom
after seeing this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24667031&postcount=18
i was wondering if it is possible to flash this on a Prime that is not Rooted or unlocked?
the thread suggest that you cant have an unlocked Prime, but do i need it to be rooted?
Otherwise is there a way to install CWM without root and without unlocking?
I only ask because after rooting my prime under 9.4.2.15 i realized i had the serial unknown error, so i could not do an OTA update to 9.4.2.21, after a manual update to 9.4.2.21 i now have a serial, but rootkeeper could not restore root, I NOW know that you cant do manual updates and still keep root.

In order to flash a custom ROM onto your Prime, you need the bootloader to be unlocked. You do not need root to do it as there are fastboot methods for both rooted an unrooted Primes.
thanks, although i think they mention on that thread that its a stock rom that wont work on unlocked devices.
i guess you have to be rooted instead.

[Q] ¿Can i take an OTA whit S-OFF?

(SOLVED)
Im in stock 4.1.2 whit S-OFF, unlocked bootloader (1.55) and then RELOCKED.
¿Can i take the last OTA?
Im not rooted, and i dont have custom recoverys (i recently flashed a RUU.zip to return to stock, but i could not remove the S-OFF and RELOCKED status because the hboot 1.55).
I have economic (health) problems and I'll really need to sell my phone, but I'm afraid that the new owner will come out error when trying to update.

Yes. You can get OTAs while S-OFF. And assuming you haven't unlocked the bootloader since flashing the RUU, all the system files it verifies should be in place to accept OTAs. However, considering you are currently on 4.1.2, you'll need to run through a progression of OTAs to get up to the latest version, 4.4.2 w/ Sense 6. Might be better to just run the latest RUU to bring it up to 4.4.2 w/ Sense 5.5 then OTA to Sense 6. Be aware that you'll need to be on the AT&T network in order to get the updates OTA. If you're not on AT&T, you'll need to flash the updates manually, in which case you'll need to be S_OFF.
Also, once the phone is S-OFF there is no good reason to change that back to S-ON. There's the potential of bricking the phone by doing so. And even if it doesn't brick, the updates in firmware may make it more difficult to obtain S-OFF again.
Thank you very much.
At the begining i did this:
1- Unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP.
2- Root
3- Gained S-Off
When i decide to sell it i did this:
1- Removed xposed and root.
2 - Relocked bootloader.
3 - Flashed RUU.zip (4.1.2)
¿What do you mean whit AT&T network? I unlocked the phone vía imei (using it in mexico whit Telcel) and still have the update appearing.
Sorry for my terrible english

First off, since you are S-OFF there is no need to relock the bootloader in order to flash an RUU. It will run just fine with an unlocked bootloader. Also when you flash an RUU, all the partitions get wiped so there is no need to do anything within the ROM such as remove xposed & root prior to flashing. The RUU will set the device essentially in a factory state.
As far as I understand it, the OTAs for carrier specific devices are served up by the carrier. So if the phone has been SIM unlocked and is being used on another network, if you go into Settings>AT&T software update, it will not receive any available OTA update. You will need to flash the update file manually using the information in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659374.
Since you are still on 4.1.2, you will need to run one of the recent RUUs in order to manually flash the OTA updates in that thread. The latest RUU available for AT&T devices is KK4.4.2 w/Sense 5.5.
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...09_10.26.1718.01L_release_356565_signed_2.exe
Flash that then you can manually flash the OTA update to get Sense 6.
You are the man.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
