Do you have a different battery that's charged that you can put in?
Chuck Norris can but Walker Texas Ranger can't.

went over to my friend that have an amaze too and put his battery in and did not work either? i wonder what happen to it, as we cant have a real brick yet
I had a similar issue. I was using my phone just fine last friday, put it in my pocket, took it out about 10 minutes later and it was off. Thought it was odd cause it had over 50% charge. Tried turning it back on, and nothing. Completely dead. Tried getting into bootloader, 3 different batteries, leaving it to charge, nothing worked. Won't turn on at all. Finally got my replacement today.
same happened to me, using my 2nd amaze..

My friend and I both have Rezounds. I have yet to get the update, he had Scott's ICS ROM on his. The update forced itself onto his phone and bricked it. When he went to the store, the reps told him the update seems to be doing this to alot of people (rep said they saw 10 of them today!). Anyone else have the OTA brick a ROM's phone or even stock?

No, but I am sure if you have a custom recovery on your phone with a custom rom an official update sure isn't going to help ..but I figured it would just error out. How did it brick it ? he was unable to load Hboot anymore ?
It went to the HTC screen and stayed there, when tried to go-to recovery it wouldn't work, eventually screen went black and wouldn't turn on, or even charge!

Could you get into hboot and run the ruu? If you can do that, the phone isn't bricked...

I suspect the no charging is due to running the battery down all the way. There's a thread or two about that issue. I think the solution was to pull the battery, plug in the charger then put the battery back in while phone is connected to charger. Then you might have to wait up to 30 minutes for the light to turn on and for it to start charging.
And yeah, if you can boot into hboot you should be able to get the phone back with RUU or if the ROM is fine then flash Amon Ra recovery in fastboot.
It didn't allow anything to be done in hboot. It won't even turn on now, i have him my battery to try and still doesn't turn on.

Well read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434532
and see if you can at least get it charged up again. Then go from there.
Both me and my wife have had the OTA for at least a week and we have not had any issues with the OTA.
Also, I must say, this is the first time I have heard of the OTA causing bricking of the unit.
If you can't get it charged, try the writing hack to get it involved. Basically you just take a regular usb cable and snip the connector off. From there you take the ground and the power, and then you put the ground and power to the battery in the respective places. Worked for a bad Atrix flash that killed my battery.

I hadn't heard of it bricking it till I saw it first hand... As far as charging, it's a non issue since I have my friend my fully charged battery to try and wouldn't turn on. (Note that this is happened only after it stayed on the HTC screen for about 30 minutes, so it may have overheated or something during that time?)

If it can get to the HTC screen, it isn't bricked. Put your battery in his phone and see if it can get to HBOOT.

I don't think you can write off the battery/charging issue. It takes some time for people who have let their battery fully drain to get the phone to charge it again although they were able charge on an external charger iirc. Anyway, point is it may be the phone not the battery that needs to "wake up" (for lack of a better term) again.
So definitely go through that dead battery charging thread and try everything in there to get the phone to charge the battery again. Then you'll know the phone is functioning as it should, atm it may not be.
I don't understand how the the OTA forced itself since all of Scotts ROMs are debloated. Everyone that rooted and debloated running stock, said that the update failed in recovery, I know I witnessed it on mine. Being on an ICS build, one would think that the update wouldn't even be downloaded.
yeah it is strange. Even if I force check for update on my Rez the update doesn't come. Are you sure your friend is telling you the whole story?

I am said friend.
Durthquake sits in the cube next to me. He watched the whole event transpire.
Here's what happened and what was tried and the resolution,
Rezound reboots to the HTC screen. Won't show the think brilliantly words. Just stayed on HTC.
So I did a battery pull and rebooted phone and same thing. Just HTC.
Now I reboot to recovery, get hboot and try to do a wipe. It blinks like its going to try to go to recovery then turns off.
Do another battery pull boot maneuver and it does the same thing.
As we are at work I did have to work so I leave it on the stock wall charger for about an hour and try to turn on again. HTC screen so I leave it to see what happens, maybe I didn't wait long enough.
Like 35 minutes later screen goes black.
Now it won't power on, won't go to hboot, basically a brick. So I pull my battery give it to durthquake who gives me his rezound battery. His phone turns on, mine doesn't.
Now I try pulling sim, sdcard, and putting my battery back in. Still nada. Phone be properly bricked.
Bring it home put sim, sdcard, and battery back in and put on HTC wall charger overnight. In the am nothing. Still a pretty beats brick.
Go to vzw and the try charging turning on etc. Nada. They say since the ota they've had about 5 of these in.
The resolution is vzw sending me a new rezound and I buying a new phone so I can give the resound to my gf.

Hi guys, so I just received a refurb I777 from AT&T today. Put in the battery and tried turning it on. Got the black battery with a circle thing around it, and figured I need to charge it.
It's been charging for like 2 hours now, I feel the battery getting hot, but it wont turn on. It's not a phone issue because my other I777 battery works fine. Do I just let it charge more? I don't know why its not turning on, and it's a pretty big hassle to get a replacement through AT&T...
It should turn on by now. Try pulling battery for a few and putting it back in then turn it on. If that doesnt work i would call att back and explore your options with them.
It's funny, I take out the battery with the phone still plugged in, and I can see the phone flash as if its trying to turn on. Put in the battery, and nothing happens. Such a pain going through AT&T, giving me the runaround. Hate them.

So basically its broken? This is a replacement phone, so I'm thinking of just swapping the battery with my working phone that I'm going to return. Been on hold for 30 minutes. This is BS.

A couple of weeks ago i decided to change from Infected Eternity ROM to MeanROM V2.1. My phone worked for those couple of weeks, however one day it was on at 88% battery it was working in the morning but i pulled it out of my pocket that day and the Phone was Off and would not turn back on. I plugged it into the charger and no light came on.
Does this mean my phone is Bricked?
If you didn't drop it in water or damage it imo I'd say no. Try plugging it in with the power off for a few hrs and see if it lights up. Also I read someone posted if you pull the battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds and then put the battery back in they were able to boot there phone back up. Not saying it will work for you but a give it a shot. Also you should rule out the usual. As in try a different charger or battery as well just to make sure your current ones are faulty
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
Not sure where I read it, but awhile back there was a post kinda like this and somebody posted something about pressing the camera button while trying to power up. It fixed the problem for like 3 ppl. Sorry for being so vague but I don't recall exactly what he said.
Thanks guys, however none of that worked, i think there is some other issue with my phone, i don't think it got bricked. I haven't heard that a phone that has been working fine for the past couple of days would just shut off and become bricked.

try with the command: "fastboot reboot"
So I got my Amaze on Friday, rooted and installed Energy Rom on Saturday, and phone just died on me on Sunday.
I was in the middle of playing Scramble with Friends and phone froze up on me. I had to take the batter out to reset it since the power button was not responsive. After I pulled the battery and put it back in, the phone would turn on.
So i read and read and found out people usually bought new batteries since the most likely culprit was a dead battery. I have a friend with the same phone and tried his battery. I saw the HTC Logo come on for a brief second and then that was it, nothing else. Phone died again and did not turn on (under his batter). I recharged my battery in his phone and tried that as well, but no luck.
Any ideas what went wrong and what I can do to fix this?
The phone is completely dead and not turning on. So that means I can't get into bootloader and recovery.
About Phone:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP recovery
Faux Kernel
ENERGY Rom
Any incite on this would be great. Thanks in advance!
Plug it in to the wall charger for 30-45min. Unplug and pull battery again. Put battery back in and you should be good...
Don't be alarmed if the orange led light flashes... It's normal when the phone dies. Be happy you're using twrp and not an old recovery that doesn't have charging while off

Thanks, i actually read those threads before i posted. I think there are more threads about that but i tried all options and none seemed to work. I will try plugging it in the wall and pulling battery out but the battery is at a 100% charge right now (i can confirm from a friends phone). However, if its just a glitch, then i will try the wall charger trick.
Thanks.

Once you get it booted, I recommend 4EXT recovery... But that's just my opinion

Thanks - tried the battery solution but unfortunately it didn't work out for me. Phone just refuses to power up.
Assuming its an official brick.
i have a similar problem, well my battery had charged and running fine for several months, so i unplugged the battery to put my sim on it, and plug it back in when it was booting up it froze on the boot logo, so i took off the battery again so i can reboot it
and ever since it wont come back on, wont either go to the bootloader, so i let it charged all night and nothing happen no led blinking or on, so got my friends amaze's battery to test and it would not do anything at either, right now i am waiting for my replacement, but i hate the fact that this had happen to me
oh wow - well i ordered a replacement as well. I really hope it doesn't come down to a software issue and they don't end up covering the device since it has been rooted.
If the phone is completely dead and non-booting, there's no way for T-Mobile to determine if it's rooted or not. Only until it gets back to HTC to be refurbished could they (HTC) find out but at that point it won't matter to anyone anyhow.
And it couldn't possibly be a software issue. There's something physically defective inside the device that caused it to die.
htc amaze 4g refuse to turn on.
hi all, i'm a newbie here, though i have always loved the XDA. I unlocked my bootloader last night, downloaded and reinstalled my fav apps since i didnt do a backup. while i was downloading the XDA app, my fone freezed and eventually went off. When i tried to get it back on, it got stuck on the white htc screen and later went off after some seconds. It has refused to come on till the time of this post. i really need urgent advice.
I was yet to install a recovery software before the tragedy occurred.
just yesterday my phone was working fine, but until i've enter the MGM grand gardens arena for a company convention, right before i step into the arena my phone was working fine, just until i walk in and situated myself, i didnt realize the phone was no longer able to turn on. the room was blast with loud music and loud bass, maybe the bass has somehow interfered with the signals and cause it to short circuit?
I was running meanrom ICS v2.4 with 4ext bootloader.
so my question is, is it brick? i've tried to put into a charger and no light was on, i've change the battery no luck to even turn it on.
thanks folks.
to me sounds like a bad battery..have you tried another battery in it?
Sounds like the battery may of died could be dead or your phone just took a nap and isn't wanting to wake up.. Just pull the battery out slap it back in and see if you get any red light or get it to power back up..
Bricking only happens via wrong radio flash gsm via CDMA or you yank the battery out in the middle of a flash.
I have tried pulling the battery and change to a different batter and it's still NO go, so not sure what happen with the phone, guess i'll bring it into the sprint to see what they can do.

since you think it is a brick. you can always send it to me and I'll have a new free phone. lol sadly one fault with our phones is if the battery dies. you have to take the battery out and charge it in a third party device for 5-10 minutes... then you can charge it the rest of the way with your phone. I WISH THEY WOULD FIX THIS! SADLY I haven't been able to buy backup batteries and a charger for this phone yet.
well, came back to LA, took the phone apart and resemble again, then it magically work again...oh well, dont know what causes it, i guess it just need a reboot in circuitry...kinda strange, but hey, it now works...dont need to spent $400 buck for a new phone.

hmm
try pulling the battery out for 30 minutes and then put the cable back in then the battery then turn it on, if this doesn't work you could buy a wall charger for the battery so you can charge the battery without the phone
