[Q] Phone Not Detected on USB - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Not sure how it happened, but my PC doesn't detect my Ace when I plug it into USB. I have tried every possible solution I could find here but no luck: USB debugging ON/OFF, formatted SDCARD, factory reset, etc. I have Kies installed, able to detect other phones (SII, Xperia, etc.) but not this Ace. I have also tried other PCs but no success.
NOTE: I am now on Imaginary V3, and was on BehradGH Cyano-Ace ROM. I have tried restoring to older ROM but didn't fix this problem.
Thanks

Are you using win 7? If so go to start, plug in your ace, go to devices and printers and see if ' samsung cdma' is there. It may have a yellow triangle there. Hit uninstall drivers on right click. Then reboot and on kies "trouble shoot connection" it will install, your drivers and you will be able to mount USB storage from your device (a prompt should appear on your notifications bar)
Please note some (well, most) custom ROMs do not support kies. Don't update through it (kies), it makes a mess of it
Please hit thanks if I helped

Yes, I am on Win 7 but don't see Samsung CDMA or similar devices installed!
I am getting a notification from Windows that "USB Device Not Recognized". I have tried switching to other USB ports, same result.
And yes, I don't use Kies for updating ROMs, just for making sure I had the right drivers installed.
Thanks.

hmmm, could be a driver thing, i had the same problem when my phone was in download mode. You said you tried an older rom, but it didnt work .By this you mean stock rom right? Just trying to clear things up

that driver problem dude. find the driver maybe available in www.samfirmware.com

Actually I was referring to the BehradGH custom ROM. I think the problem might have started when I moved from the stock ROM to the BehradGH ROM few months back, but I was not aware of it until lately.

Yes, those are the drivers I have installed. No luck.

I have the same problem with my sweet Ace and the only solution was to buy a new USB cable !
I use CA-101D USB Cable without problems :

I have tried 3 different cables but none of them helped! I know they work because I have used them on my Galaxy SII.

Not sure if I am able to or not. When I select it "mount USB Storage" I get an immediate screen stating:
USB Mass Storage device
Leaving this menu unmount your SD card from your PC.
And then the only option available is 'Unmount".

Well, USB tethering does show as an option in the settings but I can't enable it: it says "no USB device connected"! Does this mean that the ROM does not support tethering?
I forgot to mention that the phone is not detected by the PC even when I'm in the download mode. That's why I couldn't use odin to flash stock firmwares. I assume this has nothing to do with a problem in the current ROM, right?
Yeah, BehardGH is ancient but I bought this phone several months ago as a gift to my dad so he is not after changing ROMs. And I must solve all phone problems! That's why I need your help guys...

:::HELP::: SGS2 from HK connects to PC, but bot Kies....

Hey guys,
Yep. *NOT* connecting to Kies.
I'm in Australia. Bought my SGS2 from HK (PDA ZSKG2, CSC OZSKG2), running Gingerbread 2.3.3 and is currently rooted using Chainfire's Odin dump on these forums. Prior to rooting, i had the same issue.
I have checked via the program, i have the latest kies program downloaded (2.0.2.11071_128) - and I also have installed the USB.exe file (for the propper Samsung SGS2 drivers off the Samfirmware.com website) I also have 2 mini USB cables, they are both genuine Samsung, so worst case scenario, at least 1 of these cables should work...
Aslo as an FYI: I am using a desktop PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit OS (legit) - have not had issues running other USB2 devices o it...
THE PROBLEM:
When i plug in the cable, the phone immediately tried to connect to Kies (on ym SGS1, i had the option of Kies/media player/mass storage) but can't select anymore; when i connect, a pop-up box shows up "I9100" and asks me what program i want to use - i have ano problems with copy/paste/delete/transferring files using this method, the issue is with Kies.
When i open kies manually and plug in the phone+USB cable (or if Kies starts up automatically when cable is plugged in), it jsut gets stuck on "CONNECTING", but the phone itself never actually connects.
I have tried reinstalling the same usb.eve drivers again, restarting PC, the phone, unplug/replug in the cable and it doesn't seem to work...the funny thing, was my riisted SGS1 phone connected ti kies instantly and never had any issues with it. Can anyone lend me a hand or some advice? At the moment, i just want a simple Uuser firendly interface for restoring a tonne of my saved contats in a contacts file logged backed up form my old phone.
Cheers

Mine requires USB debugging disabled before connecting.

As i said, it works without KIes, but wonr work with it.
If i turn on USB debugging, plug in the USB cable, the error "Reconnect the device on Samsung Kies (PS Studio) mode. Current connection mode is not supported by Kies"
Any other ideas?
I might have missed exactly what you'd done, but did you actually try with USB debugging disabled / off?

It should work ! Do u use a custom rom ?
Double check USB Debugging is OFF.
Then check if you have one of those "multi mount" apps active that let you use /sdcard from phone and PC simultaniously - kill it.
Usb debug on or off makes no difference guys. Im using stock firmware, just rooted kernel...and no multi-use apps...or at least I dont think (what kind exactly?)

I had problems connecting with kies too.
Make sure your s2 screen is turned on and unlocked
during the connection period, somehow that affected.things with me.
also reinstall kies, that may help. I think I also removed the samsung device in the device manager to force windows to reinstall the drivers.

Thanks, i'll give thgat a try when i get home. However, i now have a strong hunch i could have a phone with either faulty software or hardware:
When i plug a USB cable into my work PC to simple recharge the phone (exiting any PC Kies attempt by the phone) the stupid device tells me it cannot recharge due to the phone or batteries TEMPERATURE being too high or too low; yet the phone is not warm at all, and the room temperatures are more than optimal for its operating environmement.
Tried unplugging and plugging back in and get the same error, am going to turn the phone off now and attempt to recharge it. Dodgy HK crap....
RoOSRA
Some quick suggestions:
* Plug the cable into the usb port in the back of the computer, not the front port or usb hub (unless it's an AC powered hub).
* Make sure you use the Samsung micro-usb cable that came with the phone
* Try with another computer, maybe the PC drivers are messed up. Uninstall them as I mentioned above.
* Try to factory reset the phone
* Change your ROM to an official Samsung one
EDIT: Regarding temperature, there are tools in the market that can show you battery temp. Regarding the message you're getting, it would be useful to show a screenshot. If I remember correctly, Power+Home shortcut will take a screenshot.

ICS broke my USB port (for data transfer)

I had a stock Note, and never rooted it.
Then I installed the ICS OTA update.
It caused my USB port to now allow me to connect it to my PC to transfer files, or anything.
As far as I know, now I can't root my phone, I can't install a custom recovery, and therefore can't flash any new ROMs
Did anyone else have this issue? Is there a way I can flash back to a Gingerbread RRU via my SD card and the stock recovery?
(I only ask this because on my Droid Incredible I could pop my SD card into my PC, put the RRU onto it, boot into HBoot, and flash the stock image that way.)
Or if there is a different solution, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
Did you check USB Debugging?
System Settings-->Developer Options
Check for Android or USB debugging, check them both, then see if you are still "broke".
Or goto storage hit the menu button then USB computer connection and change to mass storage...

Thanks for the suggestions, but it looks like you guys are running some type of AOSP ROM, and I'm just running stock, so I don't have those options to enable the Data transfers, or the MTP option like you have on your screen under Storage.
I appreciate the suggestions so far, is there anything a little bit more advanced I could try?
If this helps at all, here is some of my info:

The problem I'm running into is that the PC (multiple PC's), don't even recognize that a device is connected at all. But the device WILL charge.
I've tried multiple USB cables too.
I know it's easy to assume then that my USB port is borked, but it was completely fine before the ICS OTA.
I was hoping there was a way to flash a stock 2.3 RRU without need of a USB cable.

And is there a general guide as to how I could update the drivers?

It should update and install all the drivers on its own.. just follow the on screen prompts..
Lemme dig up a link to the install file..

I had that same problem... but it was a usb issue... over time I have noticed with all samsung phones from the orginal galaxy S to the I9100 and now the note I have had USB problems where it will charge but wont transfer files or go into debug mode. I have to spend money to get my usb port changed now everything is working so hopefully thats not your problem.
Could I ask where about you were able to get it repaired?

device not recognized xperia mini pro (sk17i) in fastboot (windows 8.1)

Don't know what's happening, but my windows 8.1 laptop refuses to recognize my xperia mini pro when in fastboot. Literally had no problem when flashing kernels in my old windows 7 laptop. Tried literally everything I can think of.
1. disable driver signature verification in win 8.1
2. install all drivers from flashtool (interestingly I do not see sk17i in the device list maybe that's the problem)
3.install drivers from pc companion (connects normally in media transfer, but not in fastboot)
4.installed andriod sdk
5.modified win_usb file with sony's version (my laptop doesn't prompt me to install drivers when I plug my mini pro in fastboot)
6. turned off mtp mode and turned on debugging.
Additional info: my mini pro is running pac man 4.3
What else am I'm missing? This is basically my last resort after hours of searching. I will be extremely grateful for any assistance.

luckily I now have a 2013 xperia
Well, I rooted, flashed, fastbooted (and everything else) my sk17i on my Windows 8.
I don't believe that they changed something as deep as the USB drivers/protocols whatever to 8.1
I takes many times dough, to make it.
1st. you should have the driver signing disabled on Windows
2nd. you connect the device and it asks for the drivers
3rd. you install the drivers while the fastboot ends
4th. you try again and it luckily will work.
As a tip keep "Device Manager" on Windows opened and enable "View\Show Hidden Devices" so that you can see the grayed uninstalled driver.

What I'm saying is that the hard part is to get the drivers working.
To install them you only have this "ghost" driver request on the device manager that you can only see if you enable the "show hidden devices".
It took me many tries and errors to get it right.
Another thing I just remenber: if you installed a bad driver it will also not work, so wen you want to install a new one you have do unistall the previous wtih the option of "deleting the files from your computer". This from device manager, of course.
If I could do it then it's possible, right?
windows 8 + usb 3.0 = problem (maybe)
Maybe the problem is windows 8 with usb 3.0 driver

DNA is not seen by PC

So I tried searching google and the forums and found nothing.
So on multiple PC's it will charge my DNA but it will not detect it in device manager, like it's not plugged in at all. Almost like it's not seeing any RX/TX Just VCC and Ground. I've tried 3 different Pc's and probably 10 different USB cables. Multiple roms and it will not even see it in bootloader. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue, it's been going on for months, I can do pretty much everything without USB access to my phone but if I want to RUU I'm going to be SOL.
Any thoughts?

Do you have drivers installed and can you boot into recovery and mount ur device? You may need adb installed. Do you have SDK drivers installed.
Another good way to get ur computer to see ur phone is to download pdanet and it will install the needed drivers to see ur phone.

Not quite understanding, it's not a driver issue... The PC it's self will not see the device. Not even in device manager as an unknown device, the phone it's self will not say, "Hello PC I am here, do you have my drivers?" I plug it in, get nothing as if I am using a charging cable with only VCC and ground, without RX/TX. I'm pretty positive that it's a phone issue, not a PC/Driver issue. Even if it was a driver issue I'd be getting the MTP device showing up.

I plug it in, get nothing as if I am using a charging cable with only VCC and ground, without RX/TX. I'm pretty positive that it's a phone issue, not a PC/Driver issue. Even if it was a driver issue I'd be getting the MTP device showing up.

Actually it could be a driver issue. There has to be a driver installed for something to notice something.
Go to device manager and look at the very top when you connect your phone does it show this?

Or the driver could be corrupted and you tried to uninstall and reinstall

Need help, my Xperia M4 Aqua doesn't show up in Device Manager anymore

So connecting my Xperia M4 Aqua to PC results in charging only, im unable to browse files or anything. Worked just fine a week ago.
Just for the record, ive tried different USB slots, different PC's, tried USB cable on a different device and it worked fine. Tried toggling USB debugging on and off, tried MTP and MSC connecting, tried restarting device after every change. I have no locker, but ive tried locking the phone and unlocking it before/after connecting it with USB. My phone is rooted. Charging works fine. USB slot in my phone doesnt look damaged or anything. So in short: after i connect my phone to a PC via USB cable, nothing happens except charging, like if no new device was connected.

Software? Might be, could be that i missed any major software update on my phone.
When you connect M4 to PC try to install software from phone to pc. Set phone as installer and try to install PC companion from phone to PC. This was the only way to connect phone to PC for me. Does it help?

Its set as installer. Im trying to set it on and off before restarting device too, then again, my PC doesnt detect it. Is there any way to manually install it from my phone? And for the mention, the first time i connected the phone, PC Companion installed itself without problems, it used to work until a week ago. Ive tried to uninstall it as well. Now theres no Companion installed on my PC, and switching my phone to "Install Software" doesnt do anything.
Ok. One more time. Take phone. Open settings - Xperia connectivity - USB connectivity. Turn on "Install software". Connect phone to PC using USB cable. On the phone press install software. This should connect your phone to PC.
At least this was the way to connect phone to PC for me. If this works, then you'll need to do phone software repair with PC Companion. After repair this issue has gone for good.
Good luck

Thats the part where im getting confused. Where do i press install software? Its already set to "Install Software" inside Xperia connectivity. I must be blind or theres something missing.
There should be message on phone screen ( or in top toolbar)

Hmm there is none
So guys, any ideas?
Your USB slot does not have to look damaged but it can be. I damaged my USB slot when I put knee unfortunately between edge of mobile and usb cable. Charging always worked but when I wanted to transfer files I really had to find some good position for cable. Your situation looks worse. I am lucky boy because I claimed it and tommorow I am getting repaired or new mobile phone. If u did not do anything bad just claim it as me and everything is gonna be ok.
