No You will Not have any Problems Flashing, However INterupting the Process Can SoftBrick the Device. But its fixable and for free.

flashing ftf firmware via Flashtool is safe for all phones, so don't worry.

should work, but i can't promise you.

if i understand it properly, it means when i use use this firmware.. i can flash any ROM despite that ROM requirements is .58 or .62?

I've just installed this on my R800at, its working fine, thank you

using this one right now. but do you mind telling what's in it? have used for a time the .58 Hong Kong version. but this one with a fresh install I could feel its a lot faster without any tweak or script. I can see the /dev/block/ is fully loaded.
thumps up. really
for now good battery times but again. was calibrated.
games run smoothly.

In this ftf file:
baseband(adsp.sin, amss.sin, amss_fs.sin, fota0.sin, fota1.sin, simlock.ta) and kernel(kernel.sin) are from r800i .62 generic firmware.
system.sin is from r800i .58 hongkong firmware.
cache.sin, loader.sin, userdata.sin is from lt18i firmware.

This is going to sound really dumb.. but after I flashed this, I can no longer root. SuperOneClick no longer works.

Thank you. I have tried that though, and it just stops at step 2. This is what I get:
Killing ADB server... KillServer 1.06s
Starting ADB server... StarServer 4.15s
Also on the side it says: *daemon not running. Starting it now on port 5037*
* daemon started successfully*
Then nothing. If I click ROOT again, it just redoes this. I shall keep trying though.
Edit: Used Unlock Root program and it did the job. Thanks though for helping out!

Hi guys, having some trouble flashing this via Flashtool.
So, I'm on .62 firmware , and wanting to finally root again but when I connect my Play (R800i, UK) I get this error

Sorry for this thread, I guess there are a lot of those, WHICH I SEARCHED OVER, but most did not have my issue really.
What I did:
I had Wolf Rom v4 working perfectly.
Wanted to get MIUI
Did a backup and full wife and the caches
Flashed in xrecovery the MIUI Prime 003
Now my phone is stuck on the SE logo and doesnt go any further.
I guess I have this because I didnt flash the kernels that come with the rom.
I tried to flash the kernel in flashtool but i get this:

Hey, I am glad to help if I can remember how I did it lol.
I think that's how I've fixed this:
1) Downloaded the stock rom for my region from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
2) Fully wiped my phone and flashed with the flash tool (if you don't have the flashtool, get it here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/)
3) Made sure it boots and works
4) Rooted the phone with the flashtool
5) Made sure it works
6) Followed this guide to unlock the bootloader (it has the downgrading and upgrading that needs to be done too): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087
7) Flashed customer kernels and custom rom
8) Made sure all works and it did!
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need other assistance.

Yes, thats the method I used. Kinda guessing I did something wrong? :/
Yeah
You don't need to downgrade, you just need it if you want to unlock your Bootloader. Try to upgrade the Kernel and then try again.
Yeah m8 u dont need to downgrade kernel now to root (zergrush exploit works on gingerbread now whereas a few months ago we had to use azuzu root method). First thing to try would be flash the kernel upgrade & see if it boots (hope it boots but i cant guarantee that). If it doesnt boot up then u need to go grab this:
http://www.multiupload.com/564T6TLUD8.
This is global generic firmware for x10i if you flash this with flashtool it will take u back to stock (u will lose apps & data unfortunately if u dont have backup) when u do this boot up, turn on USB debug & allow non-market apps and then click root button. U dont need to downgrade kernel anymore thats why it failed pal. If u need any more help/ cant get it working pls feel free to pm me & ill explain it in bit more detail (sorry had few beers tonight)
Thanks guys, gonna try that and see what happens. I appreaciate the help!
EDIT- No luck with the kernal upgrade. Grabbing that multiupload and hoping I'll have more luck with that.
No probs pal anytime.
Before I destroy the phone again. Just got it working with upgrade thing.
What guides are the ones still working? The X10 forum is kinda confusing me.

It's rooted and everything now, jus waiting for rom to download.
So... Got everything ready but can't get xRecovery to work. Can't find any guides either. I do need to install busybox and then xRecovery, right?
Tried installing bot 0.3 and CWM 5.x.x.x with flashtools now.
0.3 doesn't work at all and CWM doesn't let me flash new ROMs. Never been so frustrated in all my life.
Install the latest flashtool, for root and xrecovery. That it.

Actually even I couldn't download them
But
Before flashtool v 0.7.1.0 I had doomlords modified v0.2.9.1 flashtool to install gb & root it according to doomlords method
which had files like azuzu upgrade/downgrade in the firmware folder
& it struck me that since azuzu was the one who created those files then that should be the same ones that lukas used in his method of unlocking the bootloader
.
I took a chance & it paid off
.
The downgrade / upgrade files are there in the firmware folder
So download that flashtool package, link for flashtool here...
.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
.
Sorry dont know how to upload files & where as i dont know anything about server upload & stuff
not a member of any either
Otherwise would have given the files directly
.
Anyways enjoy but after getting the files follow the steps carefully
Use the latest flashtool for flashing or getting drivers NOT the one i have mentioned
& then follow lukas's method to unlock

That version can't be rooted using bin4ry's method via .bat file or flashtool. Either unlock the bootloader and flash a rooted kernel or flash back to an older firmware that can be rooted and OTA update.

[Q] Xperia U root problem. Please help?

Fellow XDA members,
I have rooted a few android phones before with no problems what so ever but I have just purchased an Sony Xperia U and for the love of god it won't root. I upgraded it straight away to Sony's official ICS release and unlocked my bootloader with no problems but when I try to root the phone using all the methods I can find it fails?
Can anyone help?
It just fails on restart of the phone?

you will have root but as for custom roms you will be able to install stock based roms easily.........
Can you please tell me a step by step to get a custom Rom then with full root permissions and a custom recovery installed for Rom changing and backups?
Your help is much appreciated.

If you are done with your rooting following the link @[email protected] gave you, then install CWM Recovery which can be found by searching the forum, after installation is finished just get the custom rom you want and CWM to flash it.
custom roms can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1728
get the one you think is best for you, each dev has already provided instructions on how to flash the roms in their posts.
hope i helped, good luck!
When trying to follow the procedure I am getting this as my log in flashtool upon trying to flash the firmware of C,
