Hi guys,
I just scored a refurbished, but like-new, Galaxy Tab 10.1 ($265 from The Source clearance center in Barrie, Ontario, Canada) and I am unable to update it from 3.1.
When I try to update using the OTA nothing happens. The update appears to want to start and then it just loops back to a message to start it again. I tried clearing the cache and force-closing the update from Applications, but that's only made it worse (nothing at all happens on the update screen under 'About' now).
So then I tried Kies, which tells me KL2 is the latest FW. However while Kies is downloading the FW the tablet loses connection. Eventually Kies gives up and the tablet reconnects, and I can do it all over again if I want but it never gets anywhere.
Since I want 3.2 quite a bit I've rooted the tablet and I've downloaded a few ROMs. My problem is not knowing which stock ROM is really the latest.
I am debating between KL2 and KMP. I've also downloaded Galaxy Task to play with.
Based on dates, KL2 seems newer than KMP. But based on the alphabet, KMP should be newer than KL2.
Anyone know which is truly newer and which I should go for? I am leaning towards KL2 since Kies was going to give me that one anyway.
Here is the list with latest stock firmwares, version depends on you're region. Canada is the second in the list..

I am a T-Mobile client using their ROM. I upgraded on KIES suggestion the Kernel to the most recent version:
PDA KF1
Phone KG2
CSC KF3
I am running in Android 2.3.3.
Phone is rooted.
I used busy box 1.17.2 and 1.19. Currently, it is 1.18.4
Everything runs fine, however, shortly after SMS usages (Messages) or telephone calls the phone either goes in a loop of MEssage - FritzBox App - Firefox. I can close the last apps while the first stays alive. No usage of anything else is possible before reboot. Sometimes telephone calls are terminated and phone shuts down.
I hope I could explain a little bit what happens. I tried to look for an error log to be more specific.
My question now is:
What causes these problems, my best guess is that the kernel is the source as it it happens only after "Communications". Is this a known issue or is there more wrong to the phone? Too many apps or a specific app?

Does sound quite odd, try clearing cache, should the issue still exist, try flashing back to stock kernel and see if it still has the same problems. Is your root kernel source same as the original?

Root Kernel is KG1 from Odia. Happened before with the other Kernel as well. I already cleared cache. There is no insecure KG2 for T-Mobile available. Any idea how to make the Kernel rootable/ insecure. I suspect it must have something to do with the Kernel. For rooting, I try always to get the insecure version of the branded one. Different kernels (insecure/ secure) that do not completely match could cause this?
Maybe I have done something wrong which is the solution. Let's start from scratch how I rooted the phone.
I had original Kernel on the phone. From this one, I upgraded straight to the insecure, rooted and than just put one the most recent one.
Is this causing the problems? So better upgrade to the next official one, than use the insecure to root and than put the official one back on. All done via ODIN? Would this be the solution?

I used KIES to get the orginal KERNEL on the phone. So far no problems there. I want to test it over a couple of days and then root it again. Hope this fixed it.
2 Hours later
Okay, after roughly 2 hours I came back in this loop with Internet/ Messages. I cleaned the RAM and now it works fine. Why does this happen? Never had this before. Is this an App causing or just the Kernel. I could use ODIN to get back to the first Kernel that was preinstalled. Phone is currently not rooted. However, when I use ANDROID system Info (App), under BuidlINfo I see Type: USer and USer: Root. Should I probably unroot first as the system is confused and thus these errors appear?
Hope some could help here to clarify.
Need help and advice to fix problem!!!!!
Is this what I did wrong?
I had Kernel KF3 on the phone and put straight the insecure Kernel KG1 via Odin to the phone, rooted and then had original KG2 on it. This was the time when things got worse. Had the problem with KF3 already altough I first went to KF3 via KIES and then ODIN/ SuperOneclick/ ODIN for original firmware.
Does someone have an idea how to fix it? Going back to the first firmware and upgrade then to the most recent one? Anything to check in ODIN apart from the ususal ticks in F.Reset and AutoReboot?
Please help as it is get really annoying to reboot every now and then during the day.

I always thought power on/off is similar to Reboot. I was proven wrong. I just rebooted with volume up+home+power. Since then phone is stable. Sometimes TWLauncher crashes and reloads.
Thanks for the support. I think this has been fixed....hopefully.

KF3 and KG1 is very different...since the F and G is well, obviously different. Usually if you matched a KF4 with KF3, it should be ok but KG1 is quite different. As with anything at this point in time for you is to flash to a stable ROM currently released, which is KG5 since there are root kernel available for KG5. It is the most recent Kies official release. KH3 is newer but not official Kies. If you update to KH3, you may not be able to gain update through Kies, therefore stick with KG5. Both are Android 2.3.4 for you information, hope that solves the issue and remember to clear all Cache and Dalvik in your case since you already have issues...

Problem was that a system file for synchronisation (syncmldstmo.apk) was deleted. I do not know how, but I could restore it with Titanium. Since then, all my problems seem to have vanished.
My Apps does not work. I do not see any downloaded app. Seems to be a Google problem since I stumbled over several threads.....no solution so far. I asked them directly. No solution.
Hey all,
I have been searching for the proper subforum to post this so I hope it's the right one.
My problem is that I have an S2 which I recently updated to 2.3.6 but since then, I started to have random reboots.
It SEEMS related to wifi because I don't have them when wifi is turned off, but I cannot determine this 100%.
Over on the GoT forum, dutch users are reporting the same issue.
Phone specs:
Productcode: GT-I9100LKAXEN
PDA: KK2 / PHONE: KI4 / CSC: KJ1
Non-rooted.
Whether I have a stock ROM or not I do not know, I'm quite sure it's not branded but Samsung doesn't seem to know either.
KIES says that I have a XEN firmware, I'm wondering if this ROM is for the Netherlands, or Europe, or worldwide(if that exists) but this is not my main concern.
Now, I've been battling with Samsung NL over this issue via Twitter, but the messages are mixed. A few days ago they announced an update, then OTA, then they went silent. Now they are saying they don't know when they will bring out an update.
All I know is that it is very frustrating to have a phone which keeps rebooting AND to have Samsung not give me clear answers.
Does anyone have a clue? Where do I begin troubleshooting this?
Before, this issue was nonexistent.

KK2 XEN netherlands firmware ,11/11/11 Netherlands CSC .

If its branded then its branded with network stuff fairly easy to spot .
Unless you flashed custom then its stock .
Presume update was via KIES or OTA ???
If you updated then first choice is backup data and factory reset .
Second is to redownload firmware .
Third is to go the self install route .

Update was via KIES, OTA updates have never been available for Dutch T-Mobile customers. AFAIK.
Image of my phone version itself http://i.imgur.com/vyjbZ.png
I'm sure the ROM is buggy, but I'll try a factory reset next week.
Is this problem only with this ROM? Nobody with a stock 2.3.6 ROM experiencing this?

My phone random reboots every now & then, it appears to be due to the SD card, Im in the process of reinstalling all SD programs to phone memory instead, it appears some SD cards dont play nice.
How do I remove old shortcuts of programs no longer on phone?
If u fix this some other way, let me no
Hi Iceman, I have the same issue, can't really say if its the wifi, sure I know its after the PDA:KK2/PHONE:KI4/CSC:KJ1(XEN) update with KIES.
Actually, the kies program s***s, I always have problems when updating firmware.
Think on flashing back to original with Odin, or do you have a great solution for this annoying matter...
Same here,
official upgrade via Kies (Dutch customer), and having daily reboots since.
It started after the 2.3.6 upgrade.
No idea why, something wrong in the ROM I guess, I did not install new programs. Clearing the cache did not help, also factory reset did not help.
Yeah ive started having reboots since getting 2.3.6
Kies at the time didnt have the update but the phone said there was one so i let it update using my wifi. Going to leave wifi off on my mobile and see how it goes. Will let ya know if its still going goood.
If anyone figures it out please post back, thanks
havent had one reboot since disabling wifi.
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help here as i've had this problem for just over three days now and its getting very annoying!
I had the custom lite'ning ROM on my sgs2 before the weekend, and decided to upgrade to the official O2 (uk) ICS rom 4.0.3.
To do this I have to flash the original kernel onto my phone using ODIN before Kies will recognise it and update the samsung way.
Therefore, I did this using ODIN, put android 2.3.3 back on using the official O2 ROM that was on the phone originally. I then plugged into Kies, and it now recognises my phone, but rather than telling me an update is available as i'd expect it now tells me that the phone is not updateable.
I have put numerous custom ROM's on the phone over the past 12 months and have mostly been rooted, and the binary counter has gone up. Therefore i purchased a jig, which reset the counter as i wanted. Could this be what has caused the phone to now be non updateable via Kies?
Any how, not to worry, i put the 4.0.3 O2 ROM on manually via ODIN, and all is good. However, now, whenever I connect to my car stereo over bluetooth and stream my music through it, after about 15 mins of connectivity, the phone randomly restarts itself. This is the only time it does it and it's driving me crazy on my journeys to and from work!
If anyone can offer me some advice on this i'd be eternally grateful, as I am planning on selling the phone soon and do not want to do this until the phone is fully functional without bugs (be unfair on the buyer.)
Cheers,
Luke.

Two routes to upgrades one original firmware via KIES eventually.
Join XDA and flash stock Samsung roms via Odin as soon as released .
Mix and match no one or the other as often you have miss matched codes showing to Kies .
Wipe phone reflash firmware is best suggestion .
or download ICS O2 firmware via CHECKFUS .

Yep, this is why i flashed the original stock O2 ROM back on the phone using ODIN, for the purpose of updating to ICS via Kies the "official" way.
I got the official O2 firmware from sammobile so its definitely the correct one. But like i say, although Kies recognises the firmware, it says that it is not updateable. Strange seeing as though the official O2 ICS firmware 4.0.3 is now out and updateable via Kies. As this did not work, I flashed it on manually using ODIN.
Any suggestions on the bluetooth issue? This is my biggest problem at the moment.
I have done a data wipe and a cache wipe and so far neither of these have fixed it.
Cheers,
Luke.
Sorry no idea ICS is not a product i use .

It sounds like something's messed up there. Can you provide all of the versions of your kernel, ROM and baseband from settings -> about?
I have the same issue. After upgrading from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3 and doing a factory reset, my phone works like a charm except when I have it connected via Bluetooth to my car stereo. At random intervals, the phone will reboot and once started, does not make an automatic connection with my car stereo again. I have to disable BT and re-enable it on my car stereo to connect them.
My versions are:
Modelnumber: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: I9100XXLPS
Kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913 [email protected] #3
Buildnumber: IML74K.XWLP7
CWM kernel: CF-Root 5.4
I have flashed both kernel and root with Odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
The funny thing is, I know when a reboot is about to happen since I hear a glitch in the sound a little before it happens.
Hope this helps pinpoint the issue.

Hi,
Today I flashed my galaxy S3 to android 4.1.1, I already had jelly bean but the Poland firmware release. I re-installed the firmware but the UK version from SamMobile (Stock Version, Released On The 23/October) [Can't Post Links Untill 10 Posts] .
After flashing the firmware my phone won't seem to go past the Samsung boot screen, I have rebooted, battery pulled and also re-flashed the same UK 4.1.1 firmware but I still come across the same issue. I then played around with the phone wiping all its data and doing a factory reset, I then decide to flash back to the older jelly bean I was running (Poland) and it now boots up and displays a sense UI problem, I cant make calls and access a lot of other features like notification bar and app manager.
TL;DR: I Found The Problem, I Flashed My S3 By Clicking On Phone In ODIN And Not PDA :/ Is There Anything Else I Need To Do Since I Did Flash With Phone At First, Everything Seems Fine Now?
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Simon
Go to download mode
flash again
I was perfectly happy with my VZ S3 running cleanrom 7 until samsung pushed an update through. I have TWRP on the phone. I can't install the update. Verizon points at Samsung and vice versa. Anyway I gave up on trying to find the file name for the update notifier. I tried a factory update and it failed. Now I have to reinstall all my apps. Or rather I have to put them on the screen again..they're still there. I first tried just installing the update through the notifier that popped up. No joy. I was offered "send it in" but with my phone rooted and running a custom rom and theme I don't think letting some Verizon or Samsung tech in is a good idea. I'd like to get 4.3 but it's a real nuisance so far. How can I get the update installed or gone? (either will work for me)
