Data Cap removed Roms - HTC Amaze 4G

Is there any Roms out for the Amaze that has a data cap removal. I have a vibrant and the Data is removed on it. And I am using ICS 4.0.4.. Which ROM for the HTC amaze has the data cap removed? I know it can happen or someone has a rom.

tried this before but Tmo limits the data on their side so nothing you do to your phone can bypass the throttling

Data caps are done on the server side, so no way to bypass that via rom changing.

[Q] Noob Questions

Im very new to all of this but also very interested. Iv been reading allot of your posts but there still are a few things that im not grasping. If anyone can sum up one or all of these questions, it would help allot.
I just rooted my TB and have been flashing a few different ROMS(BAMF, Vanilla, and one other i cant think of) but on all 3 ROMS, my GPS will not work and my google calendar will not sync. Is this normal? I flashed plainjanev1 and it seemed to solve most of my problems, but its just like the stock and the whole reason i wanted to root was the possibility of changing my phone without losing GPS, Calendars, ect.. Does rooting and flashing a ROM usually mean i can lose things like GPS and Calendar?
Also, im lost on the concept of kernels and radio. Is a kernel something i can download to fix a problem i am having with my phone such as no GPS signal? And is a new radio download something that will help me better connect to my phone service?
I have many more questions, but dont want to bore you guys too much. Still reading through posts and trying to learn. i respect all of you that know this so well.
Thanks.
When you change ROMs, make sure you WIPE so that the new ROM gets a clean slate.

You should probably wipe your caches and even reset your user data when flashing a ROM. A backup app makes this a lot less of a pita than it sounds.

Nope, but you can have problems like this if you don't clean things up between ROMS.

I'll give this a shot but there are much more complete and better explanation than I am capable of.
The kernel sits between apps and physical hardware and manages the system resources.
The radio is firmware for the LTE, CDMA, etc. hardware in the phone.
The pic shows a basic outline of a kernel.

So basically, a kernel is the driver that help run the OS. And if i flash a new kernel, it will have a direct effect on how my OS operates.

basically. kernels are most often used to affect the way your cpu is utilized, affecting things like speed and battery life. they will not affect things like gps and calendars. those are caused by not wiping data. the easiest way to do this is to install the rom with rom manager. when you do it gives you the option to wipe data and cache, as well as make a complete backup of everything on your phone (including apps, data, homescreens, its basically an image of the moment on your phone). i cant help you with radios as im new to that topic as well. +1 to anyone who can give me a good description of that.
Kernels CAN screw up things like GPS and WiFi. Not on purpose of course but sometimes certain ROM and Kernel combinations don't get along.
Radio is basically what a previous poster said. When thinking radio think of signal. A cell tower broadcasts a signal to the antenna in your phone, and the radio is what turns that signal into reception. Its a piece of software, a bit like a driver, that regulates that interaction. You can turn on/off the radio, which cuts the 4g/3g/1x connection to your phone on/off.

[Q] 4G

I don't know if its just me but I no longer have 4G on my TB. I've been using the 704 Radio for a long time and never had issues with 4G. All of a sudden today, no matter what rom I load, I have no 4G. I did call Verizon today for some personal info and there was a recording regarding issues with devices but I forgot to get more info on it. I know I have 4G coverage in my area so idk what's going on..Can anyone Chime in and lmk what they're experiencing..Thanks
i havent had any issues with mine today, have you tried to flash a different radio? or perhaps you should try the ##778# method to turn off 4g and switch the cdma only and then revert back
Moved to Q&A

Aside from the typical cliche of reminding you to put your flame suit on, has one considered that it may be location related and had you checked a local Verizon store to determine if their 4G units are experiencing like problems?
The key to basic troubleshooting is to rediscover the basic fundamentals of the obvious solutions, available to you, prior to stepping to the in-depth possibilities that may exist otherwise. - shawnathan9

First off, Thanks for the quick tip with the ## thing..Didn't know about that..Secondly, I will try another radio, I think the Liquid rom does use the official MR2 radio..I'll try that and see..Thanks

Just a heads-up...radios are not included in roms. Rom threads simply state which radios they work with but it seems users think that means those roms are including the radio which is incorrect. You will need to flash a radio in bootloader (not recovery) if you want to try a different one.

I didn't mean to offend you or anything. Just a common mistake and something in the last comment made it sound like you thought they were in roms so I wanted to mention it. I suppose I read too much into it.
Try enabling Wifi for a while....then turning it off.
Every once in a while when I flash a new ROM (seems to happen more on AOSP based) it starts off in 1x, then LTE...then 3G.
Sometimes you just gotta let it settle... But I've found using WiFi, then turning it off and using the LTE on/off app (it's the same as the ##, just quicker) you can get LTE working.
Finicky....but it works...

Go back to MR2.5 704 is great in the cities, but it tightens up tolerances too much for other areas. Another issue with MR3 aka 704 is that 3G data is wicked touchy when your dealing with 96dbm and higher. MR2.5 was a release and I have good reason to believe the next radio release be it official/final or leaked will be more loose like 2.5
Again everyone's experience will very, speaking of averages here. Also
Thanks for all the feedback guys..Tried all the tricks but no go..I got 4G away from my home near work but I get here at home, No 4G. I called VZW and they verified I should have 4G in my area. I didn't wanna troubleshoot the TB w/tech support cuz it's rooted and the info they may ask for, will not be what they're expecting since am running custom rooted rom..ready5, I just loaded the 2.5 radio and No 4G still..IDK what's really going on?
approx how long ago was the last time you had 4G at your home? Did you change anything since then can can perhaps revert back to a previous backup. and just to confirm, on a fresh reboot you see absolutely no 4G at all from home
NY, I believe I had 4G w/CM7 and kobes rom..Am going to attempt to restore one of y backups and see..I have no clue what went south here..When I get to work, I do have 4G but again, my home area, no 4G and Am told by Verizon, Am supposed to have 4G. I just loaded UBER bamf and no 4G either. I located this confusing Thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048128) and tried the GB d/lds and still no 4G

(Q) data problems

Ok here's the deal brought a new EVO 3d n notice that it had the last sprint update hboot 1.5, so the only method available to root was with HTC method, so I follow the root on HTC dev.com and successfully rooted my phone. After root got recovery and flash superuser. Eveything went smooth. So afterwards I booted my phone to recovery to keep a full stock ROM n did a backup of it before flashing new Roms.
Here's the problem when I'm full stock rooted ROM my 3g works normal.
But right after I follow directions ons the threads of how to flash a ROM and custom kernel on sprint lastest update. Like virus lastest ROM I follow he's intructions on how to on hboot 1.5 and flash the ROM and everything goes well until the boots the ROM data starts having 1x when I'm not using it but than after i turn the phone on n used it the 1x goes to 3g and just keeps doing that. I can't keep the 3g to stay I already contact sprint n did a data reset and nothing work.
3g stays only on stock ROM but not on custom ROM cuz I get the 1x and 3g back and forth. So sprint told me to take to sprint store to check it out but I wanna see if anyone had a similar problem on rooting this lastest update phones?????
I just want 3g to stick!
Thanks

The stock ROM never shows 1x; it's not built to show 1x. Even when you are in 1x, it will show 3g. The custom ROMs are built to show 1x and 3g when it changes. So what you are seeing in a custom ROM is what is truly happening, and what you see in the stock ROM is 3g all of the time -- even when you are in 1x.
Hope my explanation helps and isn't confusing.
Are you in a good service area compared to custom Roms the stock ROM does NOT show when the phone is on 1X so that may be it.

Yea a perfect location get full bars...its like when the phone goes to sleep it goes to 1x automatically and when I turn the screen it still on 1x until I open an application with data required or the browser the 1x goes and changes to 3g and the data works but than when I'm done or not touching the phone the 3g goes back to 1x and it just stays that way from now on
Might use shoot me to show a video of how it acts...

THATS VERY INTERESTING.... can you check in settings under power then see if power efficiency is enabled. That may be it or thats all i can think of atm.
EDIT: Actually i have no idea other than my first just tried it on my phone. kept the 3g icon the whole time.

Best / Most stable rom for HBoot 1.5?

I just did the htc method for hboot 1.5 and keep reading problems people are having with roms. I just want to know what rom is the most stable and everything works for hboot 1.5.
Roms will run the same on both boot loaders just so you flash using fast boot.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk
Try ViperRom for stability. The ROM is more stable than the official sense.
Try the blackened rom or just anything by xsmagical. All of his are stable and smooth!
hboot won't matter with how stable a ROM is. If you want speed along with stability, flash Myn's Warm TwoPointThree RLS1. Super smooth, super sexy, and super stable. Never had a random reboot or any nonsense like that with his ROM. That was a the first one I flashed when I came over from the OG Evo forum, since I ran his ROM when we had Froyo.
Everyone says they are the same but there are a few ROMs that even say that the 1.5 won't work with 4g and some other features.
I was working great on stock rooted rom but then i decided i wanted to overclock so i installed WTSB which said it was able to be overclocked. Using set cpu it would only go to 1188mhz. I was getting great 3g downloads (2.5meg down, 1.5 up). I flashed a couple different kernels and for some reason it only shows 1024mhz now in set cpu.
So i went back to the full factory restore and did a re-install of the WTSB so it's rom would be installed so i could get back to 1188mhz and now it too reads only 1024mhz with set cpu. something is going wrong. My data speeds are crazy slow now too.

Data speeds have nothing to do with a ROM. If anything, a PRL effects it.

any idea about set cpu being crazy now? not only can i not overclock on this "overclockable rom/kernel" i'm not even at stock speed anymore.
Eternity Rom
I've tried many roms for my EVO 3 d...I keep ending back at the eternity ROM. (sense 3.0) This has become the ROM that I rely upon daily. Lots of other great roms out there, but with this ROM...everything works very well. No bugs, and great battery life. Just my opinion, definitely something to look into. Good luck.
My fiancee was running inbREDed rom, and loved it. I now have her Evo 3D and i cant stay away from it either, it is a fantastic, smooth, really really pretty, rom.
Edit: He is also extremely receptive to, and heartily welcomes, any advice, fixes, ideas, and suggestions. Not saying the other devs don't, but he has responded to my questions and requests within minutes, at the latest a few hours.
I ran MIUI for a little while, and it was the most stable ROM I have used... However, you do lose 4G and 3D.

UGH! This is completely inaccurate. It is not possible for PRL to affect your data speed. PRL is Priority Roam List. It is merely a host list file for where towers are located. It is MORE possible (although not very likely) that a ROM could affect your data speed IF that ROM uses some kind of proxy that isn't standard to the device's carrier. Highly unlikely but I have seen it happen. But the PRL has NOTHING to do with data speed. Radio versions have been claimed to affect speed, but I would bet that most of those scenarios are coincidental.
WTF?

Are you kidding me? A ROM can affect data speeds sure, just like too much salt in your diet affects your blood pressure... The PRL of a device affects the entire radio/modem of the device, by telling it which towers it can connect to and which ones are PRIORITY when using mobile data, talk, etc. This is why when I run PRL 00001 I get 3G in area's where I never had it before, or even running 61XXX (any sprint based prl) I get slower 3g speeds, less signal, etc. Your PRL is just part of the overall package that affects your data speed. In all reality, a ROM has less affect on your data speed than a PRL...
What options are there for ROMs that have the 3D and 4G working? would like an AOSP if possible.
Bob
There are currently no AOSP ROMs with 3D or 4G.
Same goes for sense 3.5
You can run a ROM of your choice and run the de-sensify patch however which is as close as you can get and have both 3D and 4G working.

i updated my PRL and it's back to the faster speeds now again. Sprint must have updated our towers because the speeds are definitely fast now.

The chances of this are highly LOW. Unless the PRL version comparison is around 10 revisions. The chance of a PRL update targeting any specific user is very low (although there always has to be some)... but it is NEVER the PRL version itself that affects speeds. IF your PRL happens to point you to a newer tower with quicker speed (also not highly likely since Sprint intentionally load balances), then you MIGHT see an improvement. But again, the version itself has nothing to do with it... and the likelihood of any specific change affected any specific user is extremely low.

Broken 4G data on AOSP roms

I've had my thunderbolt for over a year now and its been rooted for most of that time. Up until recently everything been working fine. I was running CM7, but for the past few weeks I haven't been able to get data when connected to 4G. The 4G icon shows up but is grayed out, but when I toggle airplane mode it turns blue but still does not work. My first though was that my radios were wrong so I flashed a bunch of different radios but none of those worked. Next I tried flashing a bunch of different roms (all AOSP because I hate sense), no help. I finally figured it was my SIM card so I got a replacement from verizon.
So none of this worked and on a whim I decided to flash a sense based rom, and 4G worked!
Is this a common problem with thunderbolts or does anybody have a fix for this? I really want to switch back to CM7 (running MIUI with no MMS right now).
EDIT: I forgot to mention, for some reason 4G data works on the MIUI rom I'm currently running. So for now I'm opting for speed over MMS.
For anyone interested my radios are currently:
LTE: 0.01.79.0331w_1
radio: 1.49.00.0406w_1

Hello,
I have had my tbolt rooted for over a year as well, I am a flashaholic and never had a data problem, maybe u need to switch ur kernel, I'm on ziggys kernel and I've been on since it released and never had a problem, I never really changed my radio, hope this helps.

There are 4G issues with AOSP, you get slower data speeds and for some reason my coverage recording maps don't record 4G properly when using AOSP. Sense works fine.

I did switch to imosyens lean kernel on a few roms after things started acting up. I don't think my kernel is the issue though, seeing as I was running CM7 for so long with no problems.

Odd that it worked for so long and randomly crapped out. You wouldn't happen to know of any fix or work around to this problem, would you? I really just can't stand the notification menu and icons that come with sense.
