Network PIN and Keyboard in Free Xperia on Xperia Mini Pro - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey,
it took me a while to figure out these two simple things to get FXP114 working on my Xperia Mini Pro, so I thought I'd share them, maybe it'll help somebody else.
Issue 1: Phone asks for "SIM network unlock PIN" after input of regular SIM PIN. No PIN works, and just hitting "Dismiss" results in the phone being offline.
Solution: In Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile Networks, enable "National data roaming". Then reboot and hit "Dismiss" for "SIM network unlock PIN". The phone works now, and you can disable "National data roaming" again. On subsequent boots, just hit "Dimiss", the phone will work regardless (apparently "National data roaming" only needs to be enabled at boot once).
Issue 2: Keyboard doesn't work
Solution: Go to Settings -> Device Settings, choose a keyboard layout, and reboot.
Hope this helps someone!

[MINI][ST15] APN Not Saving

Hi all,
Long time reader & proud owner of the ST15 (upgraded from the X10 Mini!!).
I'm unable to use data via the mobile network as I cannot save an APN configuration.
I have tried:
- creating a new APN with all the correct details, but when I hit save...it doesnt show up in Access Point Names...(saves it in a hidden menu).
I did however download an APN off/on app via wifi which actually showed all the apn configs I can not see in Access Point Names...when I turn the access point ON via this app/widget the data still does not work :'(
- I have also tried a factory restore on the handset and also applied the firmware via the SE deskstop software to no avail.
Any further suggestions? When I get back home I'm going to root it
- I have also tried to obtain the settings from the Sony Ericsson > Internet Settings submenu to no avail with+without WiFi.
(apologies for the double post, got an error saying not enough characters...).
What model is yours? St15i or st15a? Who is your carrier? Correct me if i missed anything.

Model is ST15i (is there a difference between ST15 & ST15i??), carrier is in AU, handset bought from HK/China(?)
Australia uses 850 don't they? maybe depends on carrier. If you have sk17i, that covers 900/2100 band wich i dont think telstra (popular in au) cover at all. Are you with telstra?
To comment further the mini comes in either i (international) or a (america) has far as i know.

I disabled Lock SIM card, then obtained the settings via Sony Ericsson > Internet Settings submenu and it worked.
I have re-enabled Lock SIM card and all is well
Awesome glad it'd work for ya cheers

This is a problem that stems from very specific types of SIM cards (no, not all SIM cards are equal! )
The only known fix so far is the one ST15 found: Disabling SIM card PIN request (and should you need to, enabling it after the APN's have been added).
Well done for solving your own problem
I have same problem with xperia mini pro sk17i, firmware 4.0.A.2.335. APN not saved when sim pin is enebled, when sim pin is disabled all is ok

I have never been able to get into Sony Ericsson > Internet Settings, it says it will download the setting but then a connection error message shows up, even if I'm on 2G/3G which works fine with other apps Is there any workaround for me?

Fixed
Had same problem and fix it by turning sim pin of and then ordering internet parameters from provider. After delivering there vas no apn memorized in phone, so i turn it of and turn it on...THATS IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT APN PROFILE TO Be MEMORIZED IN MOBILE. If you dont have automatic delivery from provider, you make manualy your own internet profile with APN and then turn of phone and turn it on. That helped me...hope help you to...
yeah. this happens to on my mini pro. even after downloading the settings on se>settings>internet

[Q] Changing preferred network operators?

I was wondering if there is a way to permanently select a operator?
My network operator (Play) allows free roaming on other carriers inside the country (Orange, Plus, T-Mobile)
I get horrible signal in my work and at home with my "home" carrier and I always roam on one of the others. But I have to manually select that network and every so often I get a "refreshing SIM" message and it switches back to my home carrier (Play) which then gives me 0 bars. I then have to go into settings and select a roaming partner all over again (and this happens at least 2x/day)
Is there a way (either by editing a file/deleting a file or some app) that I can force my phone to only and always roam and not connect to my home network?
pssss.... there is top secret solution... when you will be in the roaming range, go to mysterious hidden menu, called: Settings.
Then, in the section called Network, go to the Mobile networks sub section.
When you'll be there, you possibly would find the most hidden secret feature: Network operators selection mode.
when you will enter this one, you can choose between manual and automatic operator selection.
Please do not populate this advice, is for highly advanced users only, and because of that it is hidden so deeply... in the secret document called: Owner Manual.
haha funny. But if you read my post you'll see I do manually select the network, but it still kicks it over to the home network every day.
if you unticked auto mode, it should not switch back...

I did but it clicks back when there is some "refreshing sim data"
I looked more about the operator and it seems others have this issue with their android phones. It seems the operator forces a network update (I guess to cut down on their fees they pay to the other providers)
So my option would be somehow removing the home operator from the list of operators that the phone can connect to (if there is such a list) or some app that forces to only go on certain networks that I pre select. Nothing is set in the network providers as auto, everything is on manual.
Or of course change providers (but I'll have to see what the canx policy is)

A fix for network issues

Hi guys,
I was having a lot of issues with my Verizon Note 2 for a while. No matter which ROM I flashed, the best connection was a less than decent 3G connection. After a lot of fooling around and looking for a fix though, I finally figured it out and now I want to share in case other people are having the same problem.
If you already checked to see that your SIM card works in another 4g phone and vice versa and that didn't tell you anything, try this:
-Go to your dialer
-press *#*#4636#*#*
-in the menu that it brings up, select phone information
-change the preferred network type to the one that applies to you (for me, it is LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) )
-make sure all the options under that network type selector are enabled (it will say turn off radio, turn off IMS, etc on the button)
-toggle the DNS check so it says "allowed"
After you did all this, you should have no connection at all. No bars. Nothing. Reboot your phone at this point and you should have your 4G!!

[Q] Setting network selection to manual as default

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a possibility (some tweak/registry change) to set the option (found at Settings-All-Personal-Phone-Network) Network selection to Manual instead of Automatic. Every time I restart the device, the option is set to Automatic. This causes a problem due I live near the boarder and every time I loose domestic signal, the phone connects into the roaming which I did not want.
Thanks in advance.
Would of thought that would be tricky as radio takes time to initialize on boot plus the manual option require manual selection of operator !
Can you not control this by 'Set Networks' settings for networks chosen & unticking ones don't want connect to, I had similar issue with a roaming sim I wanted on specific network & it worked for me.
Thank you for answering, but
1. I can not find a option "Set networks" in (in Settings-Phone-Network) which can be unticked,
2. I need sometimes (by going abroad) also this operator, so I do not want to cut him off complete.
I thought there must be a tweak possibility to start the device with manual network selection. A lot of phones remember the last choice Automatic/Manual after restart...
well it in phone settings > network & right by side of the drop down to select auto or manual network selection 'Set Networks' .
Don't think you will get it to work as smoothly as you would like but worth having a play with this setting if you find it, any network operators unchecked can be rechecked when needed.
You could also try another radio version such as one in my signature ...

S9+ US Unlocked, FULL Network Reset?

So, when I first put my SIM in, my phone restarted and I got some texts informing me of settings in a configuration menu to install, and when I did almost everything worked perfectly fine. Upon one of the things acting strange, i reset my networking settings and input the specified APN settings for my carrier (Ting), but then MMS wont work and when I get calls it goes straight to voicemail. By default under "Access Points", it has a "Ting Data" option which can't be changed, but has incorrect APN settings according to the ting website, so I make a second one and select it instead.
Anyhow, I want the original configuration install options to reappear like when I first installed my sim but I cannot find anything about them or find any configuration menu. They did add new APN settings in there when I did it and MMS did work at the time and I did get calls. I've already removed my sim, and placed it back in with no luck, restarted phone, soft reset phone, reset Access Points to default, and reset network settings via the Reset menu, and no luck.
Is there a dial code I can enter to find this APN install menu? or get it to do a full network reset as if I put my SIM in for the first time WITHOUT a full factory reset.
Edit: Got it working somewhat. It says I have LTE connection, but only wants to work on and off. Any ideas of how to fix this?
