Replacing just the glass is hell on earth. You have to unglue the glass from the digitizer and if you're not careful, you'll end up cracking it. You're better off buying a full LCD + Digitizer assembly and replacing it entirely than mess around with replacing just the glass... Just my two cents.

if i was to do that mate id send the phone back as its still under insurance but that return would cost me about £30 and be without my phone for at least 2 weeks.

no one else bought this glass and know what the quality like?

Gorilla glass and lcd are a glued single unit, i believe you have purchased the right part and it does have the gorilla glass attached.
You are safe
Yup. You are good to go. The glass comes with the LCD. I wont be too sure that its gorilla glass though. It scratches very easily.
Then again the original gorilla glass wasnt too shatter proof anyway.
I see a lot of posts regarding the unbreakable glass on anything that has the gorilla glass. I think the proper term is SCRATCH resistant, not unbreakable?
I think Corning needs to rework it so if you drop it on a corner, it won't shatter
I took the screen protector off of mine over 2 months ago and even as much as it is in and out of the pouch, in the car unprotected, not one scratch. The plastic around it? Now that is another matter
Yup all the screens I have purchased had the gorilla glass. You cannot buy it and if you could I do not see how you would install it.
I have been running withour screen protection and see no need to put anything on the glass.
I did have a screen protector cor months. I do not think it is needed.

Two Dell Streaks fell at the same time..
Actually guys,
My dad has a dell streak too but that one is with TPU soft case. Both of them fell from the same height. But mine as it was bare bodied, and might have fell on the sweet spot which broke the glass. The other one is scratchless. so now i understand the necessity of the rubber case, also it tends to slip without it from your hands which i have noticed it a couple of times. So lesson learned.. never get off a bigger phone from its layer (case).. Glad it is not an expensive loss though..
Thanks for all your inputs guys..

Buy a Otterbox Commuter or Defender case, the screen protector is crap, but the case itself is very good, should save you the price of buying a new screen. Does make the device quite big, but then its not a small phone.

[Q] Should I buy a vibrant for $90 with cracked screen?

Like tittle says it's the lower bottom right but everything still works it's just the glass
Is it worth it I am looking to stay with it
would I just have to replace the lens?
No. you can get better phones for 90 but it features I how much the screen is cracked

Well ts just the glass and I seen them on eBay for $17 but just trying to get some input
If its just the top cover glass then its ok I guess. check out the video on you tube to replace the glass.
I thought the SAMOLED was glued to the glass and would get damaged if you tried to remove it? A new screen with the SAMOLED is something like $160 still, so you're looking at ~$250 for a $150 phone at best. Unless you really can remove just the glass, but I don't think you can very easily, if at all.
Be carefull with the low priced BIN's. I had bought two phones one per seller and one phone just had a bad software install while the other phones inside battery had exploded and pretty much destroyed the insides. Each phone I bought for $70 each.but yeah, glass is a ***** to replace without damaging the screen. I have seen glass, screen with bezel for $125 on ebay.

If you buy a new Samoled with the gorilla glass (all attached) then the replacement is easy-ish. Just replacing the glass is hellishly hard.
However, seeing as a friend of mine just bought a vibrant which is mint minus a small crack below the menu button (left/bottom corner) for $100, I say $90 is a bit much. Totally mint ones are ~$120 on CL right now here.
i bought my vibrant with a broken glass for AU$100 over 8 months ago. i love it and it sure beats buying an expensive phone. this one comes with one of the best security systems around. its looks defective. my only gripe is that the screen cracks are sharp and detract away from the smoothness of the rom i am running.
replacing the glass only is very difficult and dangerous for the amoled screen as it is east to damage or break. please spend the extra money on a screen, glass and bezel assembly (bezel for the aesthetics as cracked glass usually is accompanied by a dented or marked bezel) as they are easier to apply and will not break while attempting the processes.
finally shop around as there are some online stores that are offering oem glass and screen assembly's for under US$90
I tried it
I tried the same thing once, buying a phone with broken glass and when trying to remove it from the LCD ended up damaging the LCD. It is glued and very difficult to get apart.
You can get a working Vibrant with no broken glass for around $140, I know its $50, but it's better than spending even more money fixing the glass, on Ebay, they're around $150.. just the glass.

[Q] ebay lens glass gorilla?

I have a cracked galaxy s3 screen that I want to replace by myself. Searching on ebay, I found several lens glass for sell under $20. Are these gorilla glass 2 or just standard glass material?
I only checked youtube videos and looks fairly straightforward. Any word of advice from people who had repaired their cracked screen by themselves?
There are a couple of good tutorials here on xda, search for those before you start.

Gorilla glass for $20? I don't think so, it will just be glass. Some are actually plastic.
you can replace just the glass (tutorial with video in general thread) but it is fiddly and needs a bit of skill

If you want to repair your broken glass, you have to replace the whole lcd assembly cause the glass cannot be separated from the lcd. It's impossible to get a Gorilla Glass 2 under $20. There are always crappy goods on ebay.

This is false, it has been done and as slappy said there are even videos of it being done successfully right here on XDA.
There is already a thread n video tutorial to replace glass. Just have a look in general section

Replaced just the glass, saved the digi/lcd (With video)
Thanks for the replies. That was the exact video I saw on youtube, making me want to search on ebay for lens glass. Actually I think it is the only video fixing the lens instead of replacing the whole lens + digitizer.
What I want to hear from people who had replaced their lens, how is the durability of the new cover glass? How is the thickness? I dont want to replace it only to have it break/scratch even easier than the original gorilla glass 2.
Thanks

Galaxy S3 Glass replacement

Hello. I have had a galaxy s3 with cracked glass and tried to replace it. I have seen many videos on youtube how to replace it. Basically people on these videos heat the screen and then remove the front glass easily, because the digitizer is glued to the lcd. But when I tried to remove it it came off quite easily, but only then I noticed that the digitizer was glued not to the lcd but to the front glass, so when i tried to remove front glass I accidentally broke the digitiser connector and somehow damaged the lcd. You can see photos here:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Samsung-galaxy-S-III-/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDE=/z/N0AAAOxylpNTUq5H/$_58.JPG
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Samsung-galaxy-S-III-/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDE=/z/QREAAMXQ74JTUq67/$_58.JPG (in this photo you can see that the digitizer was glued to the front glass very strongly)
I would like to ask, do you know why the digitizer could have been glued to the front glass but not to the lcd? And why the lcd could have been damaged while removing front glass??
I would really wanna know the answer myself, as I ordered one that should have reached yesterday, but as they do not work on weekends, it will be here tommorow, and I don't wanna brake my display forever, especially because mine is not that damaged.
Any ideas?
my advice don't bother with a glass replacement. I HAVE TRIED TWICE and as the op said the digitizer is glued to the front glass. this has been the case with both the original screen and two replacement lcd/digitizer/glass assemblies that i personally took apart. each time the glass was fused to the digitizer . i used a heat gun and a laser thermometer and still i failed. I was successful replacing the whole screen assembly twice . but those cost about $130 from amazon, com. These replacements may seem at first like oem but the ones i got cracked very easily. they dont use the gorilla glass and the quality is not as good. one replacement was really bad in sunlight. could not see anything. after my screen cracked a third time i got a galaxy s 5 . and started using a case and screen protector.

Screen lens.

Hey buddies, The screen of my phone got breked. Touch is working. i can use the phone. Is there anyone who knows how to replace the LCD Screen glass and where to find the glass?
https://www.amazon.com/MOTOROLA-Mot...506525321&sr=8-12&keywords=moto+g4+plus+glass for the hard replacement but cheaper, OR
https://www.amazon.com/ePartSolution_OEM-Motorola-Digitizer-Assembly-Replacement/dp/B0713SWNFJ for more expensive but easier drop-in replacement
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Yu7HpzQU2I shows how difficult it is to replace just the glass of the phone
Don't expect Gorilla Glass 3 like OEM but more like cheap glass so next drop, will break again.
