I know I have seen a fair number of posts about people who(also) wanted a MIUI port for the amaze, but since I think that is not going to happen anytime soon at least-- I was excited to see the file explorer that is included in MIUI that works on any phone. I can also testify that it seems to work rather well on the amaze..(though I haven't figured out how people have said they mount it as root and a few other things)
For those who don't know, it searches the phone for all the apks, videos, pictures, zips, etc.. and with a click you can see them all in one place. As horrible as I am at organizing, I end up with tons of zips and apks in weird places I'd never find again, the search function on all the file explorers I've used takes far too long, so this is my answer.
I know if you search the market(still can't get used to calling it the play store) you can find tons of apps that give aspects of miui(homescreen replacement, etc).
Now if there was an app that gives you functionality over the notification bar like miui has, or a miui lockscreen that worked with the custom lock screens people post, or.. well if anyone else knows of apps pulled out of miui like the one posted above that isn't in the market, let me know!
Again, here is the link to the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
Anyways, just sharing for those that might like it
Thanks for the 411, dl'd will report back on quality and stability tomorrow.
I dl the newest build.
Man miui is really just a great piece of work ran it on my g2x. I had to remove it though WiFi sucked, and battery drain was horrible, also many reboots, more than usual with the g2x.
Thanks though gonna try it.

So, just thought I'd spread the word to my X2 family, Bloat Freezer is back in the market! Aaaaaand, it's free (with ads). I know, I know, a lot of you guys are die hard Titanium Backup fans, but a lot of us really enjoy the simplicity and efficiency of BF. I'm sure I'm not the only person happy to have the option back, plus I feel that the addition of a free version will (hopefully) lead to more people buying the paid version. So, um, yeah...check it out...
Heard good things about, was too late to try it though so went with TB, I'll give it a try though! Thanks!!

Just make sure u get the one from trey holland. And not the one where dev name is "bloat freezer" trey thinks it might be a dangerous scam.(it has BF as its icon)
The real one is free right now.
I am so happy this is back. I was follow bloat freezer on twitter and was so happy to see its return.
U can also download it free from bloatfreezer.com if u want to be certain u r getting the REAL bloat freeze

I have heard titanium doesn't completely freeze some apps. Bloat Freezer is like sticking the app in liquid nitrogen imho.
Have used it forever and it works freaking awesome.
Plus trey said that batch freezing is coming in a future update. Right now u can only defrost all or one at once or freeze one at time. Can't wait for batch freezing. Make it a lot quicker.
People still freeze things?

^EDIT: I still do. Sure, I've deleted some stuff (like the stock browser), but I actually prefer to freeze stuff. It's just super easy.
Yeah, ash, I went to (re)install it and saw the knockoff version. I also follow them on twitter, which is how I found out they were back up.

strange issue! looks to me like a deliberate action.
how by the accident may be replaced the file /etc/hosts??
Could be that maybe he didn't know that is what would happen exactly.
Do u have the original apks that u can go thru its contents and see if it was deliberately done or not? I would check but I just deleted the original by accident that I had downloaded from bloatfreezer.com
edit. Bloatfreezer.com download is 2.05 which I believe still had that problem. Im looking through it now and so far don't see anything that looks like deliberately editing hosts files.
just stuff about pushads and such.

Just wanted to try something different. Oh well.
Flashable Mod that does this:
Uncapped JPEG File size. Great photo quality.
Uncapped Video, recording 40MBPS.
Beta ISO 1250
It's on the front page of XDA, says it works with all Sense 3.6 ROMs.
Tried it, Works The new interface is pretty cool, and pictures do seem to come out a lot better.
We have a pretty good lens + sensor, and I think the software is the bottleneck for the amaze. Hopefully this will help our pics look a lot better!
Instructions:
Download file, Flash it in your recovery, I wiped dalvik cache just to be on the safe side, and fix permissions.
Works ez with 4ext (BEST RECOVERY KNOWN TO MANKIND SHOUT OUT TO MAX AND GLACIER GUY WOOOO)

Will this work with the modified ROMs (which i believe are still technically still sense 3.6) ? If so, do we then have to use the stock camera?
lolz at Capt. Picard I about fell outta my chair.
Yes ahould work as long as the sense frame work is in place. worse comes to worst, restore your device from the back up you made earlier

with whatever NRG did in his GB ROM my pics turned out.. amazing! the pics were like 6mb each file and when i shopped it, it turned out around 10mb lol. with this mod i get around 3mb files, still better than about 1mb with stock. i can barely notice a difference unless i zoom in, still a difference though (for me at least)
Tried it on SpeedRom with 4ext and it works. I am seeing an option for ISO 1250, so I am guessing it did get updated. The interface looks the same since EclipzeRemix swapped the TMo Camera for HTC Camera in his rom, but I don't know if I had the ISO 1250 option previously. By the way, this rom is probably the most AOSPised, with almost all Sense element removed, so I am sure the camera should work with all the new roms that have come out since ICS dropped .
Pics come out looking almost the same for me, with very apparent bleeding on one side whenever the flash is on. Finally got done with finals, will have to check if the electrical tape hack helps with the bleeding.
Okay here's the deal. Using Energy ICS... The file flashes but doesn't do anything.
All I had to do was extract the zip and move the two apks to the system/app folder manually, then set permissions of course. Worked fine =)
Definitely (even) better than the stock camera. The focus seems to cooperate even better than it did before =). And the interface is seriously legit. I love it.
Glacier - here are the stock files. Just move them to system/app and set permissions normally. =)

Running Energy rom. Flashed it, camera works great...too bad no option to change the bitrate for recording. Also, any apps that used data connection could not receive data i.e facebook, gmail, games, all sync. Opera and the stock browser works.
Well, I have successfully booted up 4.2 on my Droid X2. I have been running it since Monday, and it's pretty stable. the only things that aren't working are:
Video Camera
Bluetooth
A few bugs from CM10.
I want to know if you guys want me to finish it up, and try to ready it up for a release this weekend, or if you want me to try to fix bluetooth, and the video camera.
EDIT: I'm going to attempt to fix bluetooth. If it causes too many problems, i'll release it without bluetooth and work on it in my free time. There is a couple stability issues I have patched up, and it seems to be working just fine so far.
EDIT2: I'm taking finals tomorrow then i'll have a good month of tinkering with this ROM. My goal is to get it pretty stable by then end of August (like 8/10 stable).

I have been working on this since about the time CM10 A2.99999 was released. The first time it didn't even boot, the next time, touch screen didn't work, and i've just been wiping out issues since then. It's pretty stable, has about the same battery life as CM10 A3 but I know of some apps that help it greatly. Right now I can get about a 12 hour battery life. This includes a phone call or 2, texting, some web browsing, and a little bit of gaming during my web design class.
I have it to a point where it can be a daily driver for some. I want it to be a little bit more stable. I'm free today so i'll spend most of my evening working on it. Tomorrow i'll have a little free time.

I initially had luck rooting and using root explorer to remove the apk's in the system folder. However, a lot of the custom roms come with the bloatware stripped off by default. That might be a way to go as well.

Yes - well aware of this. I've been a flash-a-holic for way too long on my GNex.
I am enjoying the notion of staying stock on the G2 - at least for a while. After being a "Pure Google Experience" dude for so long, it's refreshing to see so many creative ideas that some of the LG apps offer.
I'll probably just "Disable" some of the more obnoxious apps via the stock App Mgr for now.
The stock ROM even allows us to hide apps in the drawer without disable. The flexibility LG built into the stock ROM is impressive.
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
Yea I disabled. After a few days I just went in with root Explorer and deleted all of the Amazon and Verizon stuff. No biggie.
The stock Rom is slick though. I've never been on a stock from this long in my life. It feels like AOKP but with a ton of extra features. I miss center clock, but it doesn't warrant losing all the other really cool features.
Actually the AOKP team is taking note and trying to port lots of stuff over to AOKP. So what's that tell you about the awesomeness of this phone?
