If you know all the SIM cards you've tried actually do work (i.e. you tried the SIM cards in other phones, and they work), and none of them work in the I9100, then the SIM card reader in the I9100 has gone bad. Did you install or flash something before it stopped working?
If you can't get it working, and it's only 2 months old, then you should still have a valid warranty. In this case, if you've flashed any non-stock firmwares or ROMs, then flash back to stock, remove all traces of root if you rooted it, and send it in for warranty.
Clean ur pins inside the phone where normally should ur sim..

So i got my phone working (due to a helpful xda member)
flashed new firmware, but now i am getting NO SIM (even tried restoring old nandroid, and installing new rom, both same problem)
the thing is, it could be
EFS (didnt back it up, god dammit, never backed it up on s2) though IMEI is the same as phone *#06#
the micro sim slot (maybe i damaged it trying to get my old cut sim out of it before it stuffed up) 'is it easily damaged? could it be fixed?'
and nobody i know has a micro sim i could use to see if its my sim or damaged slot, or even software related
samsung, why you have to use MICRO SIM,
any solutions?
or should i just flash back to stock, and send it in for repair?
- i tried flashing a new modem via cwm (didnt work)
- factory reset (didnt work)
- phone company confirmed the sim is active (so its not the sim)
sorry for the recent questions, i never had any problems ever with my s2
You say IMEI is the same as the original .
Sim is activated but does it work in another phone ??? that is needed to rule out faulty sim card .
Does another sim work in the slot that is needed to rule out sim holder fault .

You should search mate.. seen this topic posted a number on times mate..

Im sure this is probaly a well known problem.
Sometimes my phone reads that there is no sim card in and i hsve to restrt the phone to get it back.
Is there a fix for this? Tried a new sim card and read that a new phone wouldnt necessarily help (plus im rooted so warrenty is void)
Just before my Phone turns off my signal reappears but obviously its i can't cancel the restart at tht point so surely there is something thst can be done to fix it?
anyone?
New sim card first.

Already tried that
Your Galaxy S III could be locked to a network that your SIM card is not.
new sim tried then backup data and factory reset .

my phone lost signal iregullary... if my phone lost signal, it said that my sim card ist not detected. But after i reboot the phone, the signal is back until it lost again by itself and i must reboot it again. This happend very iregullary. That's why i cannot said i happened after i run any apps or after i do something with the phone... i try already a lot of modem, but the problem ist still there... i try also to format my efs folder and restore it again. it works for 1 day, but after that i lost my signal again. This happened very oft (maybe 2-3 times in a day).i tried also to flash different ROM, but the problem is not gone.
The problem is there since i upgrade the android from 2.3.6 to 4.0.3.... now i am in Custom Rom XWLPT. The provider is O2 Germany.
can somebody help me with this problem.
I had this problem also... try another sim card... that was the only thing that worked for me... i went to my provider and got it exchanged with a new sim card. Ask for a 128kb one.

What is your provider? I have the same issue with a Sim card of the German Telekom. After 3 weeks of use it stopped working. I put in my second Sim which works for the moment. So the Sim slot is OK.
the sim works with other phones
Same problem, my sim was broken after 2 weeks.
I get a new one and phone works fine again.
Try to flash this zip via twrp
Same problem here... I have flashed andr68rus patch, but it does not work.
Problems start after flashing SmallEUI. Now I have flashed back the stock 20S and make a full wipe (including system) before. But there are still no SIM cards are found. When the phone is powered on and I open and close the SIM card slot, it found SIM card 1. but not second one.
After a reboot SIM card 1 is gone again. I have to open and close the SIM card slot again.
Any idea? Is this only a strange coincidence and my phone is defect or does smallEUI change something in the firmware or baseband files?

Maybe, but I experienced the same thing, also with small EUI, IIRC. Pulled my sim and put it in the wife's phone, and it worked ok, and hers worked ok in mine. Put mine back in my phone, and no dice. Flashed stock20s to try to fix it. At one point, I re-inserted with power on, and it was recognized, but my LTE went away. Was like that for a number of hours, and suddenly, after a couple of reboots, it seemed to come back to life.
Currently on AOKP MM, and I am floored by how nice it is, compared to everything else I have tried. I seem to have an issue with USB file transfers, and the LeEco camera doesn't work, but I've never seen the phone perform like it does now..

It's happened with me too. Do you find a solution?
It seems that the second SIM card is really broken. I test it in two other phones and they will not detect it too. When I remove the second SIM, the first SIM ist detected normal.
In my case it seems following problem: https://www.golem.de/news/defekte-s...en-die-probleme-fuer-oneplus-1603-119620.html
i runned into the same issue after flashing CM13 from TEAMSPAIN
After flashing CM13 from teamspain, my sim card stopped working. I flashed many other roms but couldn't make work. Then i downloaded the official rom from leeco website and after installing it, everything is back to normal and obviously my sim card slot is working again.
works with oreo ?

because my both sim were working fine and suddenly 2nd sim slot showed sim faulty or not inserted error. checked on another phone and it works .
then inserted another sim on 2nd slot and that one works .
so can i try this patch on oreo aicp rom or not?

If you've custom recovery installed then try to boot to TWRP and installing a rom.

Then its better to visit a nearby Xiaomi SC and get the device fixed, you cant try flashing anything via fastboot mode or whatever the other ways as there's a risk of brick on a locked device and it's your mom's phone, HAHA! :good:

You need an unlocked device & twrp that's all.
SOLUTION (for me)
So here was my solution.
I have the Xiaomi Remi Note 4
Turns out that it's MY sim in SLOT 2 of the phone that caused my phone to continuously restart. Whenever I made or received a call, it would restart.
I used 3 other SIM's from my and different networks in SLOT 2 on my phone and it worked. But as soon as I used MY SIM the phone would restart. I went and got a new SIM and did a SIM swop. The 2nd Nano SIM in SLOT 2 did the exact same thing!
AGAIN, anyone else's SIM worked.
I then changed my SIM from a Nano to a normal and put it in SLOT 1, and VOILA! My phone works perfectly.
Still don't understand though how everyone else's SIM works in SLOT 2, but not any of mine with my current Service Provider.
Anycase, try your SIM in Slot 1

Exact same issue for me. I've tried various combos of sim cards but it seems that I get reboots whenever the sim 2 slot is active. The solution is to use the phone as a single sim phone.
I even tried using an adapter that hangs out the phone to use a second sim with a micro SD card... but the phone still reboots
A friend of mine has the same phone and also has reboots when using his second sim.
