Hey Guys..
I recently received a refurbished Atrix 4g as a warranty exchange and everything was working fine for a while. Then I decided to unlock the BL and try a few of the ROMs out there. No issues with the flashing part, but now I get random shut downs maybe 10-15 times a day. I have tried multiple thing without success so far so if you have any idea what could help please let me know how to do it.. How can I adjust the CPU/voltage settings on the phone (might work..?)
The phone does not shut down/restart while I am charging or it is in use. Seems to be only in sleep/idle mode
Types of shut downs:
1. Phone shuts off and I have to pull the battery so that it will turn on (green light blinks every few seconds while it is off even without notifications).
2. Phone shuts off and I can get it to turn on by pressing the power button (same light situation as above).
3. Phone shuts off but immediately turns back on and boots up fine.
4. Phone shuts off but immediately turns back on but rather than booting up shows the red text error "Unreachable bootloader error 0x00000004" (green light lit dimly). Will restart fine once I pull battery and reboot.
What I have tried so far:
1. Flashing different ROMs with different kernels.
2. Replaced battery.
3. Read a million posts on issues somewhat similar.
Thanks for any help!
I have the same thing it's because you unlocked the boot loader I no this because if I relock it it never sod
I would use fast boot to wipe data wipe cache and dalvic and then properly flash a good working rom like cm7 or nottach trix something like that also you could wipe every thing and flash current sbf /root into it then flash rom
if the second option still messes up its a hardware issue

Thanks for replying.. Were you able to fix this issue? If so, do you have instructions on how?
Thanks

Hey, thanks for the suggestions.
I have tried or am currently using those ROMs .. Is there a safe way to flash the current sbf if i started off at 2.3.6 4.5.141?
My atrix did the same thing when I first flashed the neutrino rom but it was only because I wasn't using rom racers recovery. Try flashing that and then wipe everything and flash neutrino again. I'm not sure if that's your problem but flashing the latest recovery fixed mine.

you relocked the bootloader? really?
please do tell us more lol
What is the cause if you have random reboots with a fully stock Atrix? My wife has an Atrix that I'm not allowed to touch (meaning root it or unlock bootloader, etc). She has had it a few months and this past week while she has been using it, it just reboots. I have never experienced this on any of my phones. Any thoughts? I would be grateful for the insight so i don't have to do a warranty exchange.

Iglf that didn't work you should return it. Mine would just reboot and not show some error. Maybe you got aa water damaged phone? Its possible for water to just hit a price of metal to cause a phone to go bonkers

I'm guessing he means the fix that makes the "unlocked" message stop appearing, lots of people were doing it to return for warranty issues when the Atrix was newer. It doesn't actually relock it, it just stops showing unlocked at boot.
I have a completely stock atrix and do to touchscreen issues(wouldnt respond halfway throuh any function) i did a factory reset via settings menu. Cleared up my touchscreen issues so far but now my phone reboots 5-10 times an hour unless charging or during call...

Both a co-worker and myself have been experiencing random reboots for the last week. Both of ours are 2.3.6/4.5.141. Only difference between ours is mine is rooted, his not.
I wiped my Dalvik cache last night, and so far only rebooted once in the last 24 hours (Before it was almost 5 times a day). I did same wipe on his phone, and will see if that fixes problem.
It's just weird that everyone with an Atrix is experiencing this reboots.
I have the sme problem of my phone.. but random reboots appears when internal temp reaches over 38 degrees. I want to take it back to warranty but WTF am I gonna do with a new atrix that I can't touch??
So.. somewhere I read that an app called load monitor can help with this problem.. so I did.. Downloaded from market.. my cell phone has been working pretty good so far.. I created a profile on SetCPU and undervolted it 25 Mhz..
I haven't flash a sfb file just because I dont want to hard brick my phone..
If anyone wants to try what I said please let me know if that worked for you guys..
Regards..!!
I've had this twice in the past twelve hours. It happened once when I had it plugged into my computer in mass storage mode and another time when it was just sitting idle. I've always had load monitor installed on my phone. It tells me something is using a ton of resources, but I can't tell what. Task manager doesn't yield any answers either.
I was just going to send mine in, but I forgot about the new bootloader lock. F***.
I'm running the latest Nottachtrix (flashed via romracers) and the Faux123 1.45ghz kernel.
I know it's not water damage, as suggested earlier. It just started last night and my phone wasn't near water.
This issue seems to be all over the board. Some have some don't. Its very frustrating. I cant even u a case on my atrix. Anytime I use the phone more than 30 mins at a time I get either get the blue sleep or a reboot. And have to pull the battery. Have a spare unrooted atrix I'm gonna switch to til this issue can be resolved.

try using a different kernel with your roms
Reboots
I used to have the same problem, constant reboots all day long. I seem to have cured it installing 1.4.2 telstra, (im on a Bell), and then unlocked and rooted, then flashed 4.5.133 and hit it with faux's 1.45 ghz kernel, works like a charm now. This info might help..
Is is this issue with the WiFi?
I have heard that there is a problem with the Broadcom WiFi module that is inside the phone, when it dies it causes the phone to randomly reboot.
There is an ICS ROM that does not include support for this chip so it may fix the problem (provided you don't ever need WiFi or Bluetooth)

Hi everybody.
I have this weird problem. The phone does not start after upgrade to 2.1.
I have tried all ROMs for 2.1. Any 1.6 Rom works just fine. Whenever I flash 2.1 (either directly with flasher available on the forum or update through seus) the phone only vibrates once when I press the power button. Any 1.6 ROM works. Any 2.1 does not. Did anyone have this problem and if so are there any ways to solve this issue?
Thanks
simply repair it with PC Companion.
That did not help. All it does is that it flashes the phone like SEUS, it seems.
bumb anybody?
It does take an abnormally long time to load the first time but im assuming that you have waited a great deal. It doesnt make sense that it wouldnt load any of them unless there was some user error...
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I left the phone overnight 3 times. Last time it drained all the battery from 90% to zero. 2.1 did not boot. I thought I completely bricked the phone because it would not charge without the working ROM. I went to a store with a laptop, borrowed their battery and flashed 1.6 and it booted right away. I have tried everything. I don't know what can be wrong.
By abnormally long how long do people usually wait untill the phone boots after flashing 2.1? 10-20 min?
Out of curiosity I flashed boot.sin from 1.6 with 2.1 f/w. Now I do see Sony Ericsson image on the screen but it reboots every minute or so. So maybe it's the bootloader that isn't compatible with my phone
I think the 2.1 gives the option to do a full wipe correct? Make sure you are doing that. I flashed to nordic 2.1 when it popped on the forums but i never had any problems so im kinda shooting in the dark at this one.
And by long time i mean 5+ mins for the boot. Nothing too outrageous.
Has the update been released for your area or are you with me on att? If your in another area many of the phone stores will flash it for you. Just an option.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Where does it give an option to fully wipe the phone? in the flasher I did wipe user data. I did use 2.1 before, but it would sometimes not boot at all. So I removed the battery and it booted. Sometimes it took 20 min to startup. Now it doesn't at all. I think there's something wrong with the phone, why 1.6 is working tho?! Very strange...
My son was trying to put a different ROM on his phone and about half way through it crashed. The phone now just keeps rebooting.
Tried the Power on / Vol down to try to get to android recovery, but it just goes blank. All other options cause the phone to just reboot and I try again (like a fool).
Is there any hope for me to get this phone working or is it now a paperweight?
Let me know if you need more information. I will provide what I know.
Thanks,
Jim

Sounds like a bootloop. Did you look here?
I've had this happen when I attempted to flash my Atrix with the battery less.than 50%.charged. I was able to get it to boot up (after flashing 2.3.4 sbf via RSD) but it just rebooted itself every 2 mins. My warranty was up but, I went on Motorola's website and after using their troubleshooter, they gave me a reference number and address to mail in my device for repair. In about a week I got the phone back. I think they gave me a different device because I can now run 1.6 GHz OC kernels without my phone overheating. Good luck......

Hey there. I took a loan of my mums phone but I needed to unlock it so I went to root it.
I got Odin and it passed fine, and when I went to reboot, it said it was downloading and not to turn off. But it went on for ages so I presumed it froze so I turned the phone off and back on.
Now the phone wont turn on.
When turned off it charges fine, the charging symbol comes up and all but when I turn it on the screen goes black and nothing happens.
It's connected to USB and sounds like it gets picked up but I can't see it in my computer.
Can anybody help me and tell me how to fix this? I want to fix it before I have to give it back to her.
Thanks for any help!
EDIT
BTW I can still get into the CWM I think its called recovery menu. I'm pretty sure the phone was rooted, it just wont start up correctly.
I tried wiping dalvik cache, restoring to factory settings and fixing permissions, nothing fixed the issue however
This is the tutorial I followed: http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-jelly-bean-android-4-1-14-1-2/
I'm guessing since I can access recovery and download modes it's not that bad, I just need to install something else some how? Any ideas?
Restore any back up ..hope you have one..

Hirox 5.1 medium
hope it helps

once again.. if it your first rooting process then you need to unlock the bootloader.. use CF-root by chainfire..
Not quite. The bootloader on the SGS2 isn't locked.
You need a rooted kernel which has busybox & SU. CFRoot does, but you can also flash the Odin version of any custom kernel which works with the Android version of the stock rom you're running to achieve the same result, I.E a rooted phone.
Man...that's 2 threads I've read in the last 5 minutes where people are having problems with their phones after following advice from Galaxys2root.com.....is it coincidence?

So this morning and last night my phone was working perfectly until it decided to reboot, but since then it endlessly reboots show the the "Galaxy SIII GTI9300" screen. It comes up, goes black, then it shows it again. Ive looked around for other fixes but i can't enter my recovery or download mode. When entering into recover, it works for about 1 second then the phone reboots so I am unable to do anything, I can enter download for a few seconds but pressing the volume up or down to continue doesn't do anything.
I am using foxhound 2.4 and Siyah 1.9.1
I don't have an overclock, I've tested another battery so I know that isn't the issue.
I haven't done anything to it so I can't think of a reason it would be doing this. How can I fix it?
looks like sds
Any fix for it? I can't access recovery or download mode and my PC doesn't pick up my phone, should I take it in for repairs? Will they repair it with the custom ROM and kernel?
send it in, looks like it's the only option
From what I've read about SDS, I am by no means an expert, you wouldn't even be able to interact with your phone. The fact that you see the boot logo means that it isn't SDS. I am not sure what I'd do though, as you cannot enter download mode and flash a stock ROM from there.
If you send it in to service, I guess they will find out about the flash counter and modified status and all, and you would have to pay. On the other hand, if that is what it needs it might be worth it.
Sorry I'm not more helpful...

If it try access recovery or download it just reboots again. Without the charger nothing at all happens now.

Do the red exclamation point appear at any time?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium HD app
So I sent my phone in for repairs and somehow they managed to fix it and get it back to stock. Before I gave it in I never had a red exclamation. As soon as I rooted it when I got it back it now has the red exclamation. Today my phone entered a bootloop doing the exact same thing but eventually worked. Not sure if it was the ROM. I'm considering flashing back to stock just to be safe. Doesn't seem like I can get rid of that exclamation without doing so. They sorted it out for free. I'm just worried they will say my warranty has been void next time

I have the same problem but with foxhound 2.5.
What about the battery?
When I put it on, my s3 turns on itself...did the same thing happen to u?
So my phone started restarting randomly. It will only show the Samsung logo turn off and do the same thing again. Its not rooted and I am pretty sure that its not from something I installed recently (Everything was from the play store and no immediate problems after any of them). When I did the hold volume up,down and power it would only keep on restarting still. But when I just hold volume down it comes to something else that asks if I want to install a new rom. So I was wondering what I should do. Install a new ROM and then revert back ? or will that not work? Also I have a extra I717 with a broken screen I could swap the insides and see if that would help. Also I don't know much about rooting and stuffs. Lemme know what I should do guys! :highfive:

Take out the battery. Insert the battery without touching anything else. Does it just power on itself or does it stay off? If it does turn on, you might have a stuck power button. Let us know what happens
did that too :/
I did that too. It would turn off and on again but only show the Samsung logo then restart again. Also I have the case removed so It cant be the power button being stuck and I have tried the battery thing still nothing.
Whatcha mean? It would turn on by itself once the battery is inserted or you would have to press the power button. Once the battery is out and then inserted back in, it is not supposed to be powered on by itstelf. If it does turn on by itself, then the power button is most likely pressed in.

I have a I717 doing the same thing. (Eg. device boots and seems to function for a about 2 minutes locks up and reboots. )
As the device was stock when it started having this issue I figured it might be an OS issue Factory reset to it would leave the device booting to optimize applications then reboot. Checked power button checked it was clean.
Also staied on when in recovery without issue.
As I figured this was an OS issue I installed CWM
Downloaded and installed SlimBeam
Device booted and completed instlation and operated for about 2 minutes and rebooted.
Device will does not have any issues with in CWM or Odin. I
I read alsowhere that the internal SD-Card filesystem might have become corrupted and need to be reformated however I have yet to find instruction or confirmantion.
Anyone have some ideas?
.
to Tal Star.
1. When you were in CWM and were about to flash, did you wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache then do the flash? Or just flash?
2. So either os it would do the same? Stay on for about two minutes, then reboot? Would it reboot back into the os and do the same?

Naw it starts optimzing the Applications and lasts a few minutes reboots locks up and starts again. SlimBean completes the process and makes it all the way to the launcher but after a same amount of time it reboots. back to the launcher. (Slim bean has a resonable number less Apps and that's why it completes or is my best guess)

Could be a corrupt download.
Again, I always flash rom 2 times. You can get different reactions from 2 seperate flashes. 2 time seems to get a more solid installation.

So what I done so far is taken out the sim and sd card. Took out the battery put it back in and when I power to turn it on It vibrates (like it normaly would when it starts) then shows Samsung logo turns off and loops. I tried doing the hold volume up down power thing and it does not work. But what does work is when I hold volume down it takes me to a custom OS thing. I don't know what that is but I cant get there. So maybe put a custom OS in and then revert it back?
So I used Odin and put 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware but its still doing what it was doing before.Used 3.07 and it said it passed fine. Should I try a different rom or something else? Also the first time it starts up after installing the rom it goes past the logo to the ATT ball animation logo freeze there and turns of then when I turn it on from there it will loop at the samsung logo again.
You can try the firmware upgrade and initialization feature in kies. It will return your device to the original factory firmware, software, and settings. If it still loops after that you have hardware issues.
Ok so I guess im making progress now. After I put the stock rom (Different one from befor) It DIDNT BOOT LOOP well it did but only looped 3 times then stoped. Also there are 2 Samsung logos. the frist one was just normal logo ( same one I was having befor ) then the screen turns off and shows the same logo but this time its a little bigger its white with a blue glow! ( Made it further this time but still crashes afterwards) BUT now I can actualy get into the Manual mode. I did a wipe data/factory reset in that mode which didnt help i wiped the cache too. Still didnt help.
Now in manual mode my computer does recognize that something is connected to it now but it tries to configure it and keeps on failing. And so samsun kies cant connect to it either.
But from where I started at its a improvement
My Note is doing the same thing too now, but I know the reason why. I was trying to install clockworkmodrecovery so I would be able to upgrade to jellybean and I think I flashed a kernel that was meant for rooted phones (pretty dumb of me I guess). So now the phone is stuck and I'm going to try to install the original jellybean 4.1.2 for rogers and hopefully that will fix it.
As long as you can get into Odin download mode, your phone can be fixed.
