anyone prefer the stock keyboard over the new SwiftX keyboard? - HTC Rezound

anyone prefer the stock keyboard over the new SwiftX keyboard(the new Beta one)?
I have tried the Swift one for the last couple of days and couldn't bring myself to liking it... uninstalled it and started using the Rezoun'd stock keyboard again... much better....
(but I have long fingers... if that makes any difference)

i don't like swiftkey beta, and i'm a swiftkey user. i bought it when it was 99 cents and use it every day. i can't go back to the stock keyboard anymore!

Had swiftly on my dx. There is a density difference so on the resound the siwiftkey is so9 tiny. Stock is big with better voice typing and correction. Can I change long tap length tho?

The only keyboards I can ever manage to like are the stock AOSP Android keyboards. I really like the ICS keyboard.

I never really did like the Sense keyboard, I love the AOSP ICS keyboard though, it just seems to work so much better for me.

I didn't like Swiftkey. The autocorrection including spaces is amazing, but it is too quirky and needs more customization to fix the weird layout. I like Smart Keyboard Pro.

i have paid for swiftkey and i dont think its better than the stock sense one so thats what im using now.

I'm currently using the beta. I gotta say, I perform a little better on it, especially since I raised the height on the keyboard. At its stock settings, it definitely isn't large enough, so for people having that trouble, just raise the height, but otherwise, I find it autocorrects nicely. Since it learns over time, I save all of my text messages between builds, so then swiftkey can use all of that data to see how I write. When you give it time, it definitely becomes one of the best.

Me too, I've tried every KB there is and always end up returning to SKP.

Best keyboard I've found so far is the Go keyboard. It has "swift-like" functions, but I couldn't get used to it.

I like the HTC stock keyboard.
Coming from a DROID-X I find it is much better.

+1 for SKP.

Stock HTC keyboard is terrible. I like Swiftkey a lot, I like the new ICS keyboard a lot too. Although the new Swiftkey beta doesn't seem to work well on XXX 4.0. Not sure if it's the ROM or the app.

SwiftX is scary good at knowing what I want to type

In the beta version, you can choose small, medium and large keyboard sizes.

No kidding. I wish there was a way to combine the prediction engine from SwiftX with the keyboard from SmartKeyboard Pro. That would be the ultimate setup.

true, but even the large is too small IMHO.

I prefer the htc ketboard to any others. I've used swype, swiftkey, and ics. I was a longtime swiftkey user on my nexus device too.
The sense keyboard just works for me.
Rezound, rooted, loving it.

It's surprised me just how much I like the stock Sense keyboard. I usually don't use a stock keyboard, but since Swype isn't working for me I decided to stick it out, and it's really grown on me.

I'm on my DInc right now (only reason I'm on these forums is because I just ordered a Rezound ) and it's running Evervolv ICS Alpha 1, and honestly, I don't have enough extra RAM to run swiftkey :/
If it's a good day, after clearing processes I will have around 222mb free ram, and with swiftkey, it dropped to around 160 free, and Swiftkey ran sliggishly on my phone anyway, so I just reverted to the stock ICS keyboard .
Swiftkey is great at knowing words you use and whatnot, correcting misspells, but just too sluggish for me right now, I'll try it again when I get my Rezound...

Prefer the stock ICS keyboard
That and Google Voice Typing -- it's scary accurate and you can see it type what you are saying as you say it!

[Q] DroidX Multitouch keyboard or Gingerbread Keyboard?

Any preference? I loaded the Gingerbread one, and it replaced my multitouch. Not sure how I feel about it yet, so I thought I would ask the masses. =)
idk yet either... im using the gingerbread and it feels a little tighter than a vanilla keyboard and im not a fan of being cramped so il proably go back to vanilla...
I'm using the gingerbread right now too. I like it but it's only been a day or two now so I'll give it some time.
I don't like either one of them. I'm sure that the Droid multitouch is great on a higher-res screen, but on the Eris, it's pretty mediocre. I found the Gingerbread keyboard a little laggy. So far, the default vanilla Froyo works best for me.
I actually use Better Keyboard. On Tazz's ROM it doesn't lag.
I may have to try that one. I have been using Swift because of the awesome prediction, and on KaosFroyo there is little lag if I turn off the haptic/sound feedback. The Droidx Multitouch screams along on KoasFroyo, but I prefer the prediction on Swift. I'm always interested in new keyboards though. =)

[Q] Whats your favourite keyboard app?

Well, after trying a few keyboards, im still on the hunt for a decent keyboard that doesnt lag or totally miss letters when typing, so far ive tried the stock one, HTC-ime, Gingerbread keyboard from the market, the only one i got along with was the HTC one, but even then it still misses letters every now and then.
So what do you find works well on the X10? 2.3.3.
Hands-down, SmartKeyboard Pro!
I've been using it for almost a year now, it's so good, fast, stable,
supports themes and has many many neat features that imho make it stand out.
Smart keyboard is probably the best keyboard out there.
But there are others out there like Swype (which you can get from their website) and SlideIt. With these keyboards you don't have to type, you just move your fingers over the letters.
Top two keyboards would be Smart Keyboard Pro and SlideIt Pro.

+10 ! Probably the best so far I checked !
Add another vote for Smart Keyboard Pro. I tried a bunch of different keyboards including Swype but always came back to it.
Default is on of the bests
I like the stock keyboard in gingerbread a lot

Cheers guys ill try those out later today, as for the last 2 that say they like the Gingerbread stock keyboard, its not bad but it lags abit for me and is probably a little worse for missing letters when im typing/tapping fast.
im usin slide it on x10
im usin swype on sgs2
once u get the hang of it
its fast
Try better keyboard 8 .. it is very cool and customisable...
i would recommend thumb keyboard
I don't even really find smart keyboard pro that good..
Swype for me is much faster and better

Bough the app don't remember how much but it worth it ! It fully supports multi touch so i never miss a single key ! Supports themes and aall that ! Just one thing is the "learning" system is kinda slow and its prediction is soso compared to swiftkey

Of course you don't!
In my view, you can't compare typing keyboards with swyping keyboards.
They are two different input methods.
I like Swype too, but sometimes it suits me better to just type and that's where Smart Keyboard had yet to fail me.

I agree, but I use swype and after "training" it to learn the common words you use it is fantastic, and you can always type with it as well as swype it, so its the best of both worlds!

I love the customizability of it, but I just find that it gets a lot of words wrong still when I try to type fast.
All personal opinion, many people hate the swype method of typing so it is probably perfect for them.
I just think that after using swype, I tested this one out and it wasn't for me. I was typing slower and making more mistakes
SwiftKey #1
World record holder for words per minute. It learns your style and predicts not only the word you are spelling, but also the next word. Many times I only have to type 1 letter and can complete an entire sentence.
If you ever have typed out an entire paragraph and deleted/lost it somehow, all you need to remember is the first word you started the paragraph with. Then watch as the entire paragraph can be duplicated by selecting the middle next predicted word each time. Especially useful on xda when helping noobs with the same question over and over.
I've used all the others, better keyboard, smart keyboard, Swipe, HTC.

Ics vs. Others

Hi,
Just curious about some opinions. I have downloaded and used the ICS for Evo 3D (the version just prior to Joel's last upload), and really liked it. I especially loved the fast web browsing.
But I've been running the Xplode XE 3D by Team Nocturnal and everything on the phone works, beautiful look to it, etc.
The web browsing is not as fast, but the battery life seems better.
My question is, other than:
1. The novelty of something new
2. The desire to use the "latest"
What are some other reasons that might be argued for the superiority of ICS?

Use what you like. It's your phone, own it. Don't let us tell you what to run.
But ICS here isn't complete, so that isn't exactly a fair comparison yet. There are many many new features to ICS besides the interface. Things such as face unlock (when camera works), managing your data usage, hardware acceleration - just to name a few. Perhaps you should look up all ICS has to offer, there are tons of sources that share what's new. I can't remember everything and there's just too much to type up here.
Thank you. I wasn't looking for anyone to tell me what to run. But I WAS looking for what you gave me in your post. Just a brief set of a few reasons why one might want to go with ICS. I appreciate it.
Google "ICS vs gingerbread"
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I used a nexus s for a bit with ics. The only thing I miss is the better keyboard and much better voice to text. Everything else was forgettable, and honestly the browser was WORSE because it works like the iPhone in that it zooms but doesn't reformat the text. The way it works with GB is far better.
You're not missing much with GB, I'm in no rush to get it. I just want a good AOSP ROM regardless what release it is
I absolutely adore ICS. I cant bring myself to go back to gingerbread. I think asop gb is ugly now that I've gotten used to ics, its just much prettier! Im also very happy to be rid of Android green. Otherwise I personally feel ICS is a much better OS, especially under the hood, its quick, smooth, and better thought out all around. And once you get used to the keyboard its fantastic, and the text prediction and spell check is the best I've used, i love the keyboard.

The text reflow is a sense browser thing
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
The text reflowed on my nexus one and nexus s on stock and cyanogenmod roms for 2.3, so it's definitely not just a sense thing
Reflow worked for me in ICS. I had no problems. Did you use the Chrome beta?

anyone prefer old keyboard?

So my first post! I'm on this website all the time and having had 10+ droids its time I made an account!
Any who, I posted this thread to say one of the reasons I bought the note was because the huge keyboard, after the 4.0.4 update Sammy changed their keyboard and added numbers which made it too small for me lol, anyone else prefer the old Sammy keyboard, is there a way I could get it again?
I haven't tried the Sammy 4.0.4 keyboard, as I've been on CM9 since before the official ICS update.
I suggest you search 'ICS Keyboard' in the play store. It's basically the AOSP keyboard which is much better than the Sammy one from GB.
Try out Swiftkey. In my opinion it is the best keyboard for Android.
I prefer the stock ICS/JB keyboard to the samsung one. There is less lag and the voice recognition works better. Try "rapid keyboard" from the market which is basically the JB keyboard ported to be compatible with ICS.
change to the android keyboard already built in and be done with it
The Samsung keyboard has the S-Pen button on it. I want a Samsung keyboard for that reason. The ICS one is smaller, I want the larger buttons from the Gingerbread keyboard. Anybody know how to get this, preferably on a non-rooted device?
The keyboard is one of the many reasons I went back to GB.
Agreed. I miss that keyboard. SwiftKey is pretty good as well.
After updating my note to the ICS I still prefer the old keyboard. I don't use the newer one.

Hey guys,
I don't know if you feel the same but I'm to fast to type on any keyboard.

I use swiftkey. Mulitple language support for typing in flow . Like suggestion. Though it took some getting used to but been using it from 2 years now. I don't have lag issue, but it may be because of oxygen os. Have patience, hopefully it will be fixed in marshmallow update.

I also was typing way to fast for stock keyboards. Until I tried smart keyboard pro. It is really fast and customizable. With a dark amoled friendly skin and a footprint of circa 5 mb, it is also battery efficient. Try for yourself.

I have the same issue with OO and with RRemix.
So I guess it's a touch issue or something
