All, which lock screen notifications have you seen appear?
I've seen,
Text messages
Missed calls
Facebook private messages
Not seen gmail, or any other Facebook notifications.

I've seen the same lockscreen notifications as you.
However I also got gmail and email(exchange) notifications, but intermittently, sometimes they appear, sometimes they don't.
Greets
even though everything is ticked , as to what should be shown , most of time, if not all the time it does not appear .
short answer is get another lock screen
you cant remove the " stock " one unless you have Root.
it adds a bit of extra security !
as ever ICS should fix this along with other " BUGS "
And even if you can, i wouldnt recomment removing the original lockscreen from the device, i can remember from my x10 time somebody removed it and after restarting his device he was not able to fill in his password as those were linked to eachother someway. So be careful...

I hate how my screen turns on when I receive an sms message. I only need the notification icon in the taskbar and the led blink and if I disable the notifications from the settings the screen does not open but I loose the other notifications as well. Any ways to fix this?

Bump
interested in that too
Don't know if it's possible with the stock app, however if you're willing to use a 3rd party app, Go SMS does have an option to keep the screen off and quite possibly other apps do too.

switch to HANDCENT SMS, it is the best sms app, i am using it for a year now. Go to setting and disable pop-up. Now when you receive a message, it will vibrate, led will blink, but screen will not turn on. You will ses the message in the notification bar.

That's what I'm using right now but I want to minimize the use of third party apps as much as possible . Plus with handcent sms when I send a picture or video it doesn't work. I have to use the regular messaging app in order for my mms to leave successfully .

Still no solution for this one. I don't want to use handcent or go sms for two reasons. First I like the simplicity if the stock samsung app and second I use the direct call feature that only works with stock app. There must be a way to hack the default messaging app to stock opening the screen when receiving a message.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
BUMP. This feature is sooooo annoying!!!!
It irritates me also. I've used Handcent on every device in the past, but I don't want to for some reason on this one. I actually rather like the stock messaging app.
I suppose I'll go back to Handcent. The screen on is annoying, plus it creates a temporary wakelock that drains the battery even more.

Is there a fix to this if you use the stock message app?
Potential Workaround
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747794
I have posted a potential workaround for those that dont mind installing SMS Popup from the play store. It works in conjunction with the stock messaging app.
This is the 10th one of these threads. Where are the mods?
There's no fix for this. We all hate it...
My phone must be broken as a text does not "wake-up" the screen. However I would like to know if its possible to wake up the phone with S-voice even if the screen is off ? I can't seem to make it work -
I am using the stock email application and have been getting problems with email notification numbers being wrong on the lockscreen. I have 2 email accounts set up and the lockscreen maybe be saying that I have for instance 5 unread emails but actually I have none.
Anyone else having this and know how to get over it? How does the lockscreen get its information? It can't be from the email app itself as the 2 don't tally.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
It gets the numbers from the email service, the same the app uses. Likely a bug on Sony side here, report it on their forums.
Seems odd as the app will be saying '0' unread mail, if I check my yahoo acount via the computer it will say '0' however the lockscreen notification might say 10 or whatever. Had this on gingerbread and now on ics. How is it that nobody else has noticed or raised this? Seems the only option is to switch off that notification so it doesn't keep telling me I have something I dont.

YES!!!
I also have this problem!
From what I can work out, it seems to be something to do with when you download your emails to your pc.
for me, the unread count worked ok (from fresh firmware flash) UNTIL i went on my pc and used outlook on there to see my emails, after this point, the phones email count went haywire. It seems that the phone is not taking into account that previous emails have now gone from the server, and into your pc's email program. so the 'unread' count keeps accumulating.
However, if i exclusively use the email app in the phone, the unread count remains correct (as i did this for a while while i had no internet at home)
It may be the phone, it may be outlooks settings, it may be my email provider? i don't know, it is bloody annoying though!
I get my emails through my own domain name which is hosted by one.com, and its set up as an imap account, i'm quite sure it does the same when set up as a pop account...
Fixed for me: Notifications has a little bug, if you have unread email in the delete box then you will have notification as new or unread email. goto delete box either empty them or mark all read

Idk about the handcent app since I rarely use 3rd party SMS apps but I know that in the stock app I can lock them just fine. are you needing to hide them or simply lock them when deleting a whole thread (which to keep your phone running smoothly should be done every 100 or so to keep it from locking up internal space) or what? I'll download the app and see what you mean if you wanna walk me through whatever you're trying to do. i can give you my gtalk if you want my help? I'm sure someone on here might have the same issue as yourself at one point
Sorry for the long reply. I want to lock my messages so anyone can't just go thru them n be in my business. It can be stock or third party. It don't really matter

Hi all.
Have rooted my s3 with the omega rom and using go launcher. Wanted to know, after having searched xda as well as Google, how to either - disable the deliver report sound OR disable the deliver report screen wake up. Its annoying when constantly texting a conversation to have to discard the notification of every sms received.
I like the implementation of the stock ics delivery report (just adds a tick mark to the sms) but the stock ics messaging app doesn't search threads by person. Only searches the messages. (So if there's a mod for that to enable search threads by person name as well then perfect, will ditch Samsung mms/sms app in a heartbeat).
Thanks
Kunal.

Try other sms apps in play store.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
True but other apps don't replace the Samsung stock app. They just overlay it thus wasting precious resources. (As I understand it, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Give it a try. Android quite good in handling resources. If it really cripple your phone, then just uninstalled it and find other solutions.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Have already tried Go sms or whatever the name is. Best sms I've found is the stock ics app but as stated in my 1st post, it for some reason doesn't search by threads only by messages. so if I have a thread with you, a search by your name won't yeild the thread as a result. only such messages where your name is mentioned will be shown. If there's a mod for that then that's perfect. Much better, lighter and faster app than the stock Samsung app.

Any senior member knows a hack for this? Come on I'm surprised the delivery report tone and wake screen hasn't irritated anyone else?

It has iiritated me too
I, on the other hand, prefer to use any other SMS than the stock one, but any other program will not disable the Delivery Reports.
It is very annoying that everytime you send out a message you get a "message delivered" reply, that I have to keep erasing every once in a while.
I have posted several times, in several forums, looking for an answer to this but apparently everybody enjoys knowing their messages reached their destination, as nobody seems to care.

To disable Delivery Notifications open Messages app --> Settings --> SMS Settings ---> Uncheck delivery notifications...
That disables delivery notifications. I like to know that the message is delivered. I just don't like that it sounds out like a normal sms and wakes up my screen. Just a tick on the sent message or a silent delivery report without the screen wake up is perfect. (Like in the stock ics mms app. However in the stock ics mms app one can't search for threads only for messages, while in the Samsung mms app thats possible).

This post is very old but if anyone had the same problem, just use the app "Messaging Notification". It solves the problem.
Thanks! This app is great! To recive proper funcionality I set "Silent" a ringtone in SMS app (to keep showing the SMS in notification bar) and everything else (the ringtones) I set in this app.
