How's lg in general? How's the customer service? And software support? And how's the hackbility? I'm recommending my friend to get optimus 2x when it came out but I at least to know these things.
It's my first LG and Android phone, but I was very surprised with it. So far I've heard only bad things about LG phones, but this one definitely changed my perspective. It's quick, responsive even on stock ROM (sooo much of a difference between WM and Android). Except the sometimes-annoying SD Card-reboot bug it is hell of a good device.. I hope they will upgrade it to Gingerbread
same here!
Honestly, I kinda feel the phone (P500) was rushed. Other than that, everything feels the way it's supposed to be (even better) for a budget phone.
LG in general:
I still can't say much about it, since this is my first Android / LG phone. When I get Gingerbread, maybe I can say some stuff.
Also, you have to note that even if a company has good software support, especially with the firmwares, it's always the flagship phones that get most of the attention. Sometimes the others just...get forgotten.
This is just my opinion from my experience with my older phone Promised an update, never got them.
I picked up an Optimus T in Seattle for $150.00 US used (like new condition) and moving from a MT3G Fender to this was like night and day. I paid the same for the MyTouch and the Optimus has a much better CPU/GPU, build quality, feels nice in the hand, better dimensions (thinner, yet same size screen and larger battery), nice screen for its size, etc.
I've taken the time to root, install custom ROM(JoeMom ROM) and overclock from 600MHz to 724MHz and everything seems fine.
If I had one gripe it would be the plastic that is used on the screen and the 'rubber-ish' non slip coating on the phone. It is much "softer" than the MT3G. My first day I put a "ding" in the non-slip coat near the top and a very fine scratch on the screen. I know there are screen protectors and cases but it was in the first 4 hours that this happened and I am not rough on my gadgets. If you plan on picking up one of these "value" devices I would suggest a case and screen protector at time of purchase.
LG's support site and forum are strait forward. It's easy to find the USB Windows drivers for those who need it. They seem to be ahead on the communication bit saying they're going for Gingerbread on the Optimus line. Most manufacturers are playing the silent treatment on which of their already released devices are going to be upgraded.
I once wrote an e-mail to the customer support. One week later I got a reply (cited from memory): "Dear Mr. [correct name], Due to technical problems, we were not able to read your e-mail. Please write again if you have some time to spare." Would you trust an IT company that either can't get its contact forms right or that doesn't want to reply to customer queries?
Very good until now. I do own several LG products and all of them are working very well. At least here, they also have a "help-line telephone service" for some products to help on "how to" do something (washing machine).
The Optimus One is my first LG brand and seems very good. It feels solid and not "cheap". Working very well.
It is an awesome phone.
Reasons:
1) I checked sony experia mini running on 2.1... Total waste of money..
2) rightly bundled specs..
and many more.....
Only missing thing (As per my need)
front facing camera for video calls.

Dude Honestly plz dont go for it instead u can go for any HTC android or nokia c7 coz the reasons are here
1) No flash 10.1 support though it states on phone pack that it has 10.1 flash support so LG is not honest in this the reason is the processor Arm V6 as flash adobe doesnt support ARMv6 processors but LG created a deception
2) I rooted my LG phone and phone went dead within 3weeks so i got a replacement though but after waiting 5 long days and fighting with LG area manager about this
3) everything else is good but not excellent

LG O1 was my first LG Android fone ... got fed up wid my iphone 2g's pathetic battery and nokia 5800xm's general useability .. The points I am mentioning is wrt to O1 (bought in India):
1. Build quality : Good (better than what I was hoping for)
2. Retail Box and accessories: Sufficient (except for the user manual which was pathetic)
3. Customer Service: Surprisingly prompt (but to be honest, I just had a question if my fone came with insurance as there was something mentioned in the retail package)
4. Overall: Better than what I have hoped for from LG as their mobiles fones have never been upto the mark
LG is generally ok for the most part. This is my first smartphone and the only problems I had with the O1 are those that i created on my own (trying to apps2sd on a slow memory card and panic-resetting which broke a few features). The LG service center was able to fix my phone after a week. Had to go back there multiple times though.
After installing the void ROM and custom recovery, I haven't had problems since. Battery gets me through most of my day with some gaming and music (I always bring my charger though...)
I'll have to test its bluetooth compatibility with a new headset since my old Nokia BH-104 doesnt work with it (even though they say it can...)
I guess the only we don't know yet is how competent they are with updates and bugs. But build quality is great! And the tweaks to android are minimal. Closest to stock experience I would say
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
just dont post negative as u end up bricking your phone due to some reason
As for me i would rate it 3.5/5 obviously we cant compare it with higher end phones but a phone in that budget is just excellent. NOKIA sucks with symbian.
phone make 4/5
resloution 3.5/5 (at this moment lot to come in future)
tweaking 4.5/5 (huge cappabilities)
official gingerbread support (on its way) whereas mik's rom rock still
good customer support,prompt service
great gaming capabilities (except few game dont run-playing angry birds, nfs shift, pes 2011 ,dark ninza, home run battle 3d-3d gaming supoort is good)
very much customizeble.
ALL IN ALL EXCELLENT IN THE BUDGET CRITERIA
P500 is a great phone for the price. I had owned a HTC TyTn II and been using Wm6.5 and Android 2.3 on it.
LG customer care replied the day after i emailed them, and called me the next day. SO i geuss customer support is decent.
I hv used (not owned) HTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy Fit and Pop and Ace and Galaxy 3 before, they were all not worth the price. whats the use of a higher resolution camera when the device screen itself is such a low resolution? QVGA on a 3.2" screen is not pretty. (except Samsung Galaxy Ace which is same resolution as 01 if im not mistaken) Galaxy 3 with 667 mhz cpu was not able to run angry birds properly. its very smooth on 01 void #echo rom.
Only things im missing in 01 is a LED flash, dedicated camera button and trackball, better camera would have been a plus.
But i dont regret buying it, and i can laugh at my friends 20k+ Nokia phones.
Life's Good
It's a good phone if you don't have the SD unmount bug or you can fix it. I wouldn't recommend it unless there is a recent firmware in your country that fixes the issue (there isn't in mine), or you are willing to take all the steps to install a custom rom that fixes the issue. This was the only way I could fix the issue in my phone, because LG customer service said the phone was OK and didn't solve anything.
As many comments above, Optimus One was my first smart phone.
I have some hands-on experience with these droid, such as Desire HD, Galaxy Ace, X10, X8, Wildfire, X10 Mini. Well, with my experience on them and comparing them to my phone, i this the O1 is the best of the range. Some claims that Galaxy Ace is better for now but i still think O1 is better, as it is more capable to customize it.
O1 is great for everything except for the part that it doesnt have a camera flash. I really really wish i have one on mine phone, but who cares about that? I seldom use a camera flash as a flash light, but more as a torch light. XD
Talking bout LG, they have a great customer service. I had emailed to them before, and their reply were really quick! While Sony doesn't reply me at all...
i agrree O1 is more customizable than Galaxy Ace, community support is also better. I chose to buy the 01 and didnt have any regrets till now, and gingerbread is coming soon.
and i never had the SD unmount problem from the start even while i was using stock rom
anyways, this is my first LG phone, but its great

Exactly what i was thinking. And regarding the SD unmount problem,it doesnt happen on mine too, maybe i was using a correct card =/
i think optimus one is one of the best midrange devices available.its well worth the price.the 1500MAh battery that it carries is one of the biggest in android phones.
specs wise it can be compared to galaxy ace but O1 is a lot cheaper.and its 512 mb ram is a huge +point. Lg has promised a gingerbread update on it. on the other hand ,there's no word from samsung abt updating the ace to gingerbread. they havent even provided the froyo update for most of its eclair phones except the galaxy s and the galaxy 3.so u cant trust samsung abt updating the devices .
Ordered Lg Optimus One (P500) yesterday on letsbuy.com for 8712 Rupees (LOWEST COST of this phone in India i believe).!!
Waiting for it to arrive ..
hey guys, im just wondering..
LG Optimus One or the Samsung Galaxy 3?
i need a good cheap phone for use as an mp3 player, casual gaming (like angry birds) with good battery life
flash, camera quality etc is not a big deal to me. neither is froyo 2.2 out of the box.
thankss!!!
(btw im not planning on rooting the phone or making any mods so that doesn't matter either)
i've heard better reviews for the optimus one, but idk abt its sound quality.... and i love the g3's design..
Using Lg optimus since las december...rooted & modded... #void for froyo & now CM7#(ported) for gingerbread... oc'ed very stable, depending of your luck, mine is stable @729MHz, some other guys @804MHz...
I got Galaxy 3 on my hands weeks ago, feels more cheap, less resolution, didn't like it. Bad touchscreen, at least has better multitouch.

anytime lg optimus p500 ,samsung galaxy 3 is a total disaster as far as sound is concerned I am not sure in stock rom as using custom rom from 1st day of buying and I must say sound quality is great for me.camera is better in lg good clarity in stock rom
i liked the thread name ...haha......great
I have a Optimus t running CM7 mod and milks kernal over clocked 806 and i love it i have played with the samsung and i didnt like i could be bios but thats how i feel
Well, It is normal that if you ask this question in an LG Optimus One forum, most of the guys will say "Go with O1!!!". But on the other side... they are right!
Samsung sux at delivering quality on low prices. So their mid-ranged smartphones usually sux. Ok, besides Galaxy Spica... that was cool. Lg is not the best at low quality phones, but this Optimus One delivers. Plus, you pay less for a phone that could have the performance of a Galaxy S.
Consider too, that one day you will get bored of your phone and you may want to install a custom ROM or mod it somehow. With O1 you have a great, big and fast responsive community to help you. If you have any problems, you just ask somebody or read a forum, and there you are!
Cheers!
I'm Confused between Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 And LG Optimus One P500.., Which is the best one?

Galaxy Gio looks to be a nice deal but I would still say LG O1 even though it has a slower processor.
LG O1 has 512 MB RAM and will be getting official 2.3 within the next 30 days max while as far as I have read Gio's 2.3 update is not planned yet and also it has less RAM.
And if you plan to root the phone, the LG O1 has an awesome Dev community with some great custom ROM's.
Positive points for Samsung Galaxy S5660:
+ Better display (16m)
+ DNSe sound enhancement (I don't know what that is)
+ Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
+ More processing power (800Mhz)
+ Stereo FM radio with RDS
+ lighter (102g instead of 129g)
Positive points for LG Optimus One P500:
+ More user memory (about 170MB basic)
+ More RAM (512MB)
+ Upgradable to v2.3.3 (coming very soon)
+ More battery power (1500mAh instead of 1350mAh)
It's up to your taste now =]
I'd vote for OO P500
Samsung medium-end devices have very poor support, either from Samsung nor from the comunities
P500 can totaly pwn any devide to 300€ with tweaks and improvments from XDA devs, imho.
If you intend to use the phone as mp3player you must know optimus one has bad sound quality. THREAD
Also some users complaint about dust under the screen.
The weight of optimus one is not a problem, you will get used with it from the first day, my previous phone had 86g.
In my opinion the single problem with optimus one is the bad sound quality.
Go check both phones in a store and decide then.
Right. If you want to mess around with roms, scripts, enhancements, etc h4x0r stuff then P500 is the ideal.
If you want (as soberspine said) a multimedia phone, then probably Gio will be sightly better.
Go for the device with more RAM and a better battery. Trust me. Android + small RAM isn't a good combination.
But if you want to use it for music I would recommend Samsung. DNSe is not something amazing but it's pretty good (DNSe as in Digital Natural Sound engine - I have it on my Samsung mp3 player and I really like the way it sounds).
Thanks for reply guys.
Thanks guys..., thanks for replying.,
i've read somewhere that gio have gingerbread rom on samfirmwares and O1 have some noise problem in speaker as well as headphones also., in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842047
and also the dust under screen in O1.
if Gio had more ram i would have not worried to chose it.

Brand - wtf man, you're buying stuff because of the name written on them or because you like them?
Multitouch - lol, O1 also has multitouch :|
Camera - both have 3.2mpx autofocus snappers, maybe Samsung's sensor is slightly better but either way none does well as a shooter
Led flash - yes, it's true, it's handy
Music - only for people who use it (I prefer not to drain my phone's battery with music so I use mp3 players; and that's very rare because most of the time I listen to music in the car - so not everyone needs music on the phone)
Dust - I keep hearing about dust under screen; well, mine really doesn't have a bit of dust under its screen, maybe it depends a lot how you keep your phone
Neocore score - benchmark results are just benchmark results, real life usage is different

Ace???
Ace is to samsung as iphone is for apple.. f***ing expencive and not that good, not even close. Ace is nearly at the same price than Galaxy S i9000
imho, LG p500 is the best handset to 390 usd.
In Singapore, O1 is more expensive than Gio. Gio's only 265 dollars
look's like there is a war against ace and gio... i want to buy an android smartphone this summer and i really don't know what to choose... So what can i buy with 200euros? that's a question especially for guys from Romania! have a good time!
In Poland you can buy new P500 at around 105 Euros and Gio at ~125 euros
sample auction of Gio http://allegro.pl/samsung-galaxy-gio-gt-s5660-i1668032498.html (1 euro = 3.92 zloty) and sample of p500 http://allegro.pl/lg-p500-swift-plus-idealny-gwarancja-2gb-i1662830285.html

Am going to buy "LG Optimus One P500"
Hi everyone, I got a question for you phone savvy people.
I currently have the LG Optimus One (P500) with Koodo Mobile (Sub-Section of Telus:Canada).
The Samsung Galaxy Ace has just become available and I've been strongly considering it. I've read a lot of reviews and just can't decide.
I use my phone mainly for texting and talking. I don't use data, and just use apps occasionally like Twitter whenever I have wifi. I do like to take pictures, but not videos. I don't use my phone for music or video.
So basically, I'm leaning towards switching to the Ace for $50.
What do you all think I should do?
*My phone is indeed rooted, and I much prefer the rooted version. I have no idea how rooting is on the ACE though.
Thank you.
i have had the SG ace for a few weeks and i have to say, its a nice SMALL phone
(this display is smaller than P500) ... but, its realy no comparable to P500.
The display has a lower resolution, you see LED pixel every time, and the performance is very pore.
Sorry to say that, but forget the SG Ace
+ Larger screen on the Ace.
+ Better camera on the Ace.
+ The Ace is a little smaller and 0.56 oz lighter. I'm mildly annoyed by how heavy the P500/P509 is, so I actually do care about this... a little.
- Less developer support for the Ace. This would concern me. LG must have sold a buzzillion of the P500/P509, so I assume it will continue to have good dev support.
- No 3G with my carrier with the Ace. I could easily live without that, but it's still a small con for me (obviously, this won't apply to everyone).
* Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Ace has an 800 MHz ARMv6 processor that currently can't be overclocked. That's a little better than an ARMv6 processor that can be overclocked to >700 MHz... but not much. I'm calling this a wash.
* The Ace has about the same (or is it less?) internal memory as the P500/P509, so I guess this is a wash.
* I don't know how battery life compares...?
I don't consider the Ace an upgrade. They're comparable phones... Phone Arena actually gave higher marks to both the Optimus One and Optimus T than they did to the Galaxy Ace, for whatever that is worth. User reviews are about the same at various sites like Reevoo (good for both phones). Personally, I wouldn't want to pay $50 to switch to a new phone that is almost exactly the same as the one that I have now. The biggest advantage of the Ace seems to be its 0.3" larger screen, and that's not worth $50 to me. ETA: It seems like the camera might be significantly better on the Ace, if that is important to you...

Seriously? Your friends envy your phone because it is ~1.8 mm slimmer than their phones? Do your friends know that, unlike Galaxy Ace owners, they can overclock their phones? I would definitely prefer a 3.5" screen, but we're talking about two very similar phones here.
Well, i own 2 devices now, current one is X10 but my previous device was the P500
I do suggest to some of my friends which are newbies to android to use the Ace, but after months of usage, most of them report to me that, the Ace restarts a lot...
The main reason behind this is the small amount of RAM, IMO. When your RAM is running too low, the phone will restart itself, aka soft reboot to resolve the problem.
P500 has 512MB[428mb user accessible] while Ace only has 278, get the difference?
Ace does have a few advantage over the P500 though, the slightly more powerful CPU, better camera and flash[camera flash] too, plus you can take screenshot without root too[P500 has to do this via apps, w/o root]
If both were priced at a same price,i'll get Ace over P500, but $50 is just... too much?
BTW, why not considering upgrade to some new sony? xperia ray seems good to me! A QSD8255 under the hood, 8MP camera, everything is way awesome-er than P500 and Ace
You already have an Optimus One which is quite a decent small little phone. I would save your money and if you really wanted a new phone get a more higher end phone and skip the Ace. That's what I would do, but it's your decision. Are you happy with your Optimus and does it fulfill all your needs? If you are I would stay with the Optimus and save up for a more high end phone.
I wish I could get a Galaxy SII but my carrier doesn't have much coice and I don't think I could afford it! haha.

look at the spec and price (we can't know as it varies from country to country). I'm sure you can decide on yourself.
yeah s2 looks better but what about resolution and battery of s2
one thing for sure s2 have plenty of custom rom
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 2
I would take S2. AMOLED is superb IMO even with lower res (but it's lower screen size). Exynos it's second to nothing if it's responsiveness and smoothness of interface. Lots of custom roms and bigger community is another upside. L9 is good phone and 4,7 inch screen do its work when browsing web and gaming, also it's smooth as butter and battery is quite good. S2 still have samsung support and it will receive 4.2 update with new touchwiz and we all know how LG is with updates. So, it probably comes to decide how big your phone can be and how much can you pay. You know full well when you have your L9 in your pocket. S2 maybe not so smaller in numbers, but if you take both in hands, difference in size and feel is more than noticeable. Tough choice. Look at the price. I don't think S2 is worth more than 70-80$ more than L9. If you can take it in the same price, for me decision could be only one -S2
Hi after owning both I would say that the S2 wins my vote. Keep in mind that I have the p769 L9. The L9 is only superior in the battery & GPS department IMO, ROMs and amoled screen is just hard to beat.
