How's lg in general? How's the customer service? And software support? And how's the hackbility? I'm recommending my friend to get optimus 2x when it came out but I at least to know these things.
It's my first LG and Android phone, but I was very surprised with it. So far I've heard only bad things about LG phones, but this one definitely changed my perspective. It's quick, responsive even on stock ROM (sooo much of a difference between WM and Android). Except the sometimes-annoying SD Card-reboot bug it is hell of a good device.. I hope they will upgrade it to Gingerbread
same here!
Honestly, I kinda feel the phone (P500) was rushed. Other than that, everything feels the way it's supposed to be (even better) for a budget phone.
LG in general:
I still can't say much about it, since this is my first Android / LG phone. When I get Gingerbread, maybe I can say some stuff.
Also, you have to note that even if a company has good software support, especially with the firmwares, it's always the flagship phones that get most of the attention. Sometimes the others just...get forgotten.
This is just my opinion from my experience with my older phone Promised an update, never got them.
I picked up an Optimus T in Seattle for $150.00 US used (like new condition) and moving from a MT3G Fender to this was like night and day. I paid the same for the MyTouch and the Optimus has a much better CPU/GPU, build quality, feels nice in the hand, better dimensions (thinner, yet same size screen and larger battery), nice screen for its size, etc.
I've taken the time to root, install custom ROM(JoeMom ROM) and overclock from 600MHz to 724MHz and everything seems fine.
If I had one gripe it would be the plastic that is used on the screen and the 'rubber-ish' non slip coating on the phone. It is much "softer" than the MT3G. My first day I put a "ding" in the non-slip coat near the top and a very fine scratch on the screen. I know there are screen protectors and cases but it was in the first 4 hours that this happened and I am not rough on my gadgets. If you plan on picking up one of these "value" devices I would suggest a case and screen protector at time of purchase.
LG's support site and forum are strait forward. It's easy to find the USB Windows drivers for those who need it. They seem to be ahead on the communication bit saying they're going for Gingerbread on the Optimus line. Most manufacturers are playing the silent treatment on which of their already released devices are going to be upgraded.
I once wrote an e-mail to the customer support. One week later I got a reply (cited from memory): "Dear Mr. [correct name], Due to technical problems, we were not able to read your e-mail. Please write again if you have some time to spare." Would you trust an IT company that either can't get its contact forms right or that doesn't want to reply to customer queries?
Very good until now. I do own several LG products and all of them are working very well. At least here, they also have a "help-line telephone service" for some products to help on "how to" do something (washing machine).
The Optimus One is my first LG brand and seems very good. It feels solid and not "cheap". Working very well.
It is an awesome phone.
Reasons:
1) I checked sony experia mini running on 2.1... Total waste of money..
2) rightly bundled specs..
and many more.....
Only missing thing (As per my need)
front facing camera for video calls.

Dude Honestly plz dont go for it instead u can go for any HTC android or nokia c7 coz the reasons are here
1) No flash 10.1 support though it states on phone pack that it has 10.1 flash support so LG is not honest in this the reason is the processor Arm V6 as flash adobe doesnt support ARMv6 processors but LG created a deception
2) I rooted my LG phone and phone went dead within 3weeks so i got a replacement though but after waiting 5 long days and fighting with LG area manager about this
3) everything else is good but not excellent

LG O1 was my first LG Android fone ... got fed up wid my iphone 2g's pathetic battery and nokia 5800xm's general useability .. The points I am mentioning is wrt to O1 (bought in India):
1. Build quality : Good (better than what I was hoping for)
2. Retail Box and accessories: Sufficient (except for the user manual which was pathetic)
3. Customer Service: Surprisingly prompt (but to be honest, I just had a question if my fone came with insurance as there was something mentioned in the retail package)
4. Overall: Better than what I have hoped for from LG as their mobiles fones have never been upto the mark
LG is generally ok for the most part. This is my first smartphone and the only problems I had with the O1 are those that i created on my own (trying to apps2sd on a slow memory card and panic-resetting which broke a few features). The LG service center was able to fix my phone after a week. Had to go back there multiple times though.
After installing the void ROM and custom recovery, I haven't had problems since. Battery gets me through most of my day with some gaming and music (I always bring my charger though...)
I'll have to test its bluetooth compatibility with a new headset since my old Nokia BH-104 doesnt work with it (even though they say it can...)
I guess the only we don't know yet is how competent they are with updates and bugs. But build quality is great! And the tweaks to android are minimal. Closest to stock experience I would say

just dont post negative as u end up bricking your phone due to some reason
As for me i would rate it 3.5/5 obviously we cant compare it with higher end phones but a phone in that budget is just excellent. NOKIA sucks with symbian.
phone make 4/5
resloution 3.5/5 (at this moment lot to come in future)
tweaking 4.5/5 (huge cappabilities)
official gingerbread support (on its way) whereas mik's rom rock still
good customer support,prompt service
great gaming capabilities (except few game dont run-playing angry birds, nfs shift, pes 2011 ,dark ninza, home run battle 3d-3d gaming supoort is good)
very much customizeble.
ALL IN ALL EXCELLENT IN THE BUDGET CRITERIA
P500 is a great phone for the price. I had owned a HTC TyTn II and been using Wm6.5 and Android 2.3 on it.
LG customer care replied the day after i emailed them, and called me the next day. SO i geuss customer support is decent.
I hv used (not owned) HTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy Fit and Pop and Ace and Galaxy 3 before, they were all not worth the price. whats the use of a higher resolution camera when the device screen itself is such a low resolution? QVGA on a 3.2" screen is not pretty. (except Samsung Galaxy Ace which is same resolution as 01 if im not mistaken) Galaxy 3 with 667 mhz cpu was not able to run angry birds properly. its very smooth on 01 void #echo rom.
Only things im missing in 01 is a LED flash, dedicated camera button and trackball, better camera would have been a plus.
But i dont regret buying it, and i can laugh at my friends 20k+ Nokia phones.
Life's Good
It's a good phone if you don't have the SD unmount bug or you can fix it. I wouldn't recommend it unless there is a recent firmware in your country that fixes the issue (there isn't in mine), or you are willing to take all the steps to install a custom rom that fixes the issue. This was the only way I could fix the issue in my phone, because LG customer service said the phone was OK and didn't solve anything.
As many comments above, Optimus One was my first smart phone.
I have some hands-on experience with these droid, such as Desire HD, Galaxy Ace, X10, X8, Wildfire, X10 Mini. Well, with my experience on them and comparing them to my phone, i this the O1 is the best of the range. Some claims that Galaxy Ace is better for now but i still think O1 is better, as it is more capable to customize it.
O1 is great for everything except for the part that it doesnt have a camera flash. I really really wish i have one on mine phone, but who cares about that? I seldom use a camera flash as a flash light, but more as a torch light. XD
Talking bout LG, they have a great customer service. I had emailed to them before, and their reply were really quick! While Sony doesn't reply me at all...
i agrree O1 is more customizable than Galaxy Ace, community support is also better. I chose to buy the 01 and didnt have any regrets till now, and gingerbread is coming soon.
and i never had the SD unmount problem from the start even while i was using stock rom
anyways, this is my first LG phone, but its great

Exactly what i was thinking. And regarding the SD unmount problem,it doesnt happen on mine too, maybe i was using a correct card =/
i think optimus one is one of the best midrange devices available.its well worth the price.the 1500MAh battery that it carries is one of the biggest in android phones.
specs wise it can be compared to galaxy ace but O1 is a lot cheaper.and its 512 mb ram is a huge +point. Lg has promised a gingerbread update on it. on the other hand ,there's no word from samsung abt updating the ace to gingerbread. they havent even provided the froyo update for most of its eclair phones except the galaxy s and the galaxy 3.so u cant trust samsung abt updating the devices .
Ordered Lg Optimus One (P500) yesterday on letsbuy.com for 8712 Rupees (LOWEST COST of this phone in India i believe).!!
Waiting for it to arrive ..
Hi, I'm asking for some opinions from Optimus One owners, please.
A friend of mine is looking to get a new phone on contract (UK), around the £15/20mth mark. I'm an old hand with Android (although mostly HTC handsets) and therefore his first port of call for advice. I am however a bit strapped for time at the moment, and can't scour all the forums for the info I need to make my recommendations.
I'm pretty sure that I'll tell him to get a Motorola Defy or an LG Optimus One.
Looking at the specs it seems like the Defy is the winner on pretty much all counts, although it is £5 a month more expensive:
Screen: Defy 3.7" 480x854 Optimus 3.2" 320x480
RAM: Both 512MB
ROM: Defy 1.9GB Optimus 512MB
Battery: Defy 1540mAh Optimus 1500mAh
Camera: Defy 5MP Optimus 3.1MP
So, what is the problem I hear you cry? Well, as we all know, hardware specs don't tell the whole story. From the little I've read about the LG software, it's pretty close to vanilla Android - and it's 2.2 as well. The Defy has the overhead of Motoblur and is running on 2.1. And we all know how Motorola treats updates on Android. I also believe that LG has committed to delivering Gingerbread as well? That's a major plus, since the Defy will NEVER see that.
What I want to know is this: what is the Optimus One like on a day to day basis, with the stock UK ROM? My friend will not want to root (or have me do it for him) - he just wants a phone that works out of the box.
Also, any other relevant info you think I ought to know would be greatly appreciated, ie. known faults, bugs etc.
Thanks!
Definetly DEFY ! Trust me, the dev community on that phone is going to grow. The phone is awsome. Same GPU as Galaxy S, TI OMAP processor, Gorilla Glass Display, what could you ask for more ?
P.S: Defy has official 2.2.1.

Ha ha, I've posted this question in the Defy forums as well as here - hoping to get a balanced view by comparing answers from owners of both. Little did I suspect I'd get told here to recommend the Motorola handset!
I would go for the DEFY too.
It also has a 800MHz CPU (200MHz might not seem that big of a difference but it still counts imo) and Flash Lite support.
Both phone are value for money, but Defy offers a lot more.
It has Full Flash support.
OK, then I guess the decision is made (from my point of view), although there is the possibility my friend will still want to go for the Optimus One no matter what I say - it is slimmer and has buttons which he may like over the Defy's capacitive ones. Does the Optimus have any known faults or problems?

Once Defy is rooted...what android version can we have on it???? Does it have a gingerbread port for it???
Yeah. You must root it and add custom recovery in order to apply the patch for touch screen lag bug. When you touch the screen, the CPU goes up to 100%. The patch solves it !
Isn't that awkward, we all advice you to go for the Motorola Defy, and we all are from Romania... do I sense a little bit of regret that we went for the Optimus as Defy wasn't available yet?
OK, so I never held a Defy in my hand and I don't know anything about it, but the hardware specs alone would have convinced me to buy it over the Optimus. Now, concerning your question: LG Optimus One will feel a little bit sluggish on stock ROM. Buggy touchscreen driver makes CPU spike to 100% while touching the screen (corrected with custom kernel). Dust gets under the screen if the phone is carried in pocket. Camera is not outstanding, although rich in features. Not having any source of light such as LED flash lowers even more the quality of pictures taken inside or in poor light. These are the cons, from my personal experience.
The pros, now. Good all-round phone for its price. Decent battery life (I can go 2 days between charges). Sports Froyo, update to Gingerbread officially announced. Decent performance out of the box, outstanding performance with a custom ROM, a little bit of overclocking and improved touchscreen driver. Good overall radio behavior (WiFi, cell signal and GPS).
That's what I gathered in 2 months+ of daily use, I hope it's useful.

Yes, very useful. Thanks very much
if i were in your shoes i wud check out the possibilities both Defy and O1 offer when rooted...Honestly one of the biggest reasons to buy Androids over iphone is the ability to tinker with it....GO ahead find what the dev forums have to offer for both the models..
I have been happy with the phone running the devoid ROM.
However the lack of Flash 10.1 support on the Optimus is very disappointing.
In the American used market (eBay, craigslist, etc) the Defy goes for about 2x what the Optimus does. ~ $300 vs $150. I do not know if that means the Defy is significantly better or overpriced.
In India defy comes for $388 outright price and optimus one for $255. Hence the difference in more features.
But now new galaxy i9003 has arrived and is much better choice over defy. Outright price is about $410 .

i was willing to buy the Atrix 4g for its dualcore beast and right now we hav 3 of that kind. Can anybody suggest the best one out of the Three???
SGS 2. 'nuff said.
thread closed.
for $800 it better wipe your a$$.
-i have heard disappointing reviews on the camera, wifi, touchwiz, build quality, samsung updates(though motorola is bad with bell users).
-i wouldnt buy an LG as they have no solid track record and too many complaints to list
-atrix has its fair share of problems primarily the bootloader and camera isnt the greatest.
Anyone else kinda disappointed by this new generation of dual cores as a whole?
Nope i love my sg2 much more than my atrix!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
if i could atleast have it in my hand and it was $150 or more less I would definitely consider it.
Having both devices, what are the benefits of sgs2? Be as unbiased as possible please.
where did u buy the S2?
People harp on about the SG2 being all plasticy, but compared to the atrix it feels much more solid. the case shell on the atrix creaks whenever i hold it, whether that be age 'wear and tear' or what not.
i find the camera to be much better than the atrix
the screen is much better on the SG2 but thats personal choice
i do miss quirky features such as the fingerprint reader and webtop but thats about it. Everything else the SG2 does the same if not better. Even in stock form, no mods comparing the two it becomes much greater. as gingerblur fixed alot of problems (motoblur!)
saying that, the Atrix is still the 2nd best device i had!
my 2 cents

Sorry. but f**k the Galaxy S II! The Galaxy S I9000 was soooooooo much better. From what ive heard, the Optimus 2X has really good build quality. But yeah they have a terrible track record, usually they make products with crappy quality. The Atrix is sweet but the locked bootloader and the fact that we have to wait for Motorola for updates; that drags it down.
1) Moto Atrix
2) LG Optimus 2X
3) Galaxy S II

LOL @ the guy who said the phone creaks in his hand. that is such utter LIES.
In any case, Samsung has a pretty horrible track record with the i9000 quality. Just look up i9000m internal SD on google and have fun sorting through that mess.. A phone that just auto nukes its internal SD whenever it wants.
As for the Atrix it has IMO an amazing screen (which you can use at full brightness) at little penatly on the giant battery.
If you wanna save battery and use juice defender the max I have gotten out of it before dying is 56 hours.... on a single charge.
So yeah.
Thanks for all the suggestion guys.. The Quadrant benchmarks of samsung galaxy sII ended up being something like around 3500 which is the heighest till date...atrix is around 2700 i guess...any comments on this fact??
Things aren't perfect with the SG2 there's the:
1. Heat dissipation issues were people are already returning their phones just for that alone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068663
2. WiFi Issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067473
3. (Much More Than Normal) "Dead Pixel" Screens
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065935
4. Lack of Notification LED - (most knew about this already)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058596
I'm not going to say which phone is better since they All 3 phones have their issues, but it's also interesting to watch people dropping $750-$1000 already thinking the SG2 will be the perfect device. (yes there's no perfect device blah blah blah...)
Anywhoo... For the record, I'm not totally trilled with the Atrix at this moment either. I've also thought about switching to the SG2 already myself, but IMO it's too high of a price tag to give it a chance right now.
The bottom line, there really isn't really a clear cut winner...
hmm i have an atrix 4g, simunlocked from att, i had issues with wifi in my country, now that i managed to fix it and am running gingerblur, im very happy with the phone, however the case really is squeaking (back when i was in the US i had another atrix4g which i went to replace cuz the fingerprint scanner locked up occasionally, that one had perfect build quality, this one just squeaks at the top, and she cover shell is somehow too big for it...) and the locked bootloader is really annoying me, the screen is very good in my opinion. If i would be buying one of the phones now i would go with the LG i think (my main reasons: tegra2, unlocked bootloader, proper support), as to the sgs2 its too big in my opinion (seriously hwo needs a 4.3" phone, even the 4" are too big kind of - id prefer a 3.8"/3.7" like the original htc desire, but noone makes high end phones with that screen size..). Cant say much more about the sgs2, as that it doesnt have tegra2 which i prefer over other dualcore ARM based chips right now. Atrix has way better hardware specs than the LG tho: more ram, more flash, better battery, webtop, fingerprint scanner - love that one lol, the only worser spec is the camera on the atrix. so go figure For stock use the Atrix would be the best ithink

why not htc hd2 .......its the better device
just kiding xD...but I have one now , just sold my atrix, I will try lg and SGS2
IF you want test...why you don't bought 2 and return to the store the phone you don't like it
I see many opnions.....and many FANS off samsung, lg and motorola
soo, if you want the opinion...ask in xda general not in motorola session....
thats probably a very good idea. I love my atrix so im going to lean towards this phone.
General might be less bias.
Ive got my freind who wants to swap me his optimus 3d for my galaxy s2 and i was wondering what is the pros and cons? what would i gain and what would i also lose in doing so?
Thanks in advance
stick to what you have. the only thing that the optimus has is 3D pictures and really that is not that important anyway...if you are into 3D then try it for a few days but do not swap your galaxy s2 cause you have the best android phone at this moment of time so you be silly if you swapped it.
in my very valued and educated opinion, I must tell you I poop on lg after a night of drinking and wings. Hope this helps.
Why does he want to swap? Because he found out that the SGS2 beats the LG O 3D in all reviews or because he misses some feature he finds very important that his phone lacks but yours has? Ask him that and post your answers here
Other than that, I would say you do some research into the two, have a play with the two and if you find his phone to be better for what you want to do with it, why not swap?
My friend has the 3D as well.. Believe me definately sgs2.. 3D is an awsome phone don't get me wrong but for me Sgs2 is the winner..

Definitely SGS II... The Optimus 3D doesn't bring anything better to the game other than 3D... i find it useless cause my head starts hurting after looking at the screen for some time... but it may just be me... i have a SGS II and i'm thrilled... the best phone out there now
Hi, I just sold my Optimus 3D and bought the SGSII. The only reason i did so was for the battery life. The O3D has no battery life but is an awesome phone though and the screen on it is absolutely amazing. I really miss the O3D screen. In terms of performance there is not much in it, SGSII maybe slightly ahead with fewer lock ups for me. Software wise, I absoloutley prefered the stock LG software.
I dont think this helps you much but my 2p worth anyway Either way you will have a great phone.
Optimus 3D is... boring So, go for SGS II !
you are asking a large group of individuals that have essentially put their money towards a SGS2. plus on top, if the LG was better why would your mate want to be worse off? redumbnant thread.

yeah mate . having a phone that almost matches sgs2 in performance on android 2.2 and that may surpass it even on 2.3 (talking about stock versions always of course) plus having a 3d screen and camera is boring really... plus not to mention the really rich game support sgs2 has. (oh wait. with chainfire it runs fewer games than lg does without...). plus 2.3 is round the corner and ice cream was promised by lg 2 days ago... of course you cannot fry bacon on lg and not use it as a personal heater now that oil has gone up in price. srsly though i git an sgs2 first week it got out and apart from overheating its screen has vibrant colors but isplays really ooorly some colors (mainly mate ones) see angry birds sky really carefully to see what i mean. also it burnt a pixel after ten days and of course screen has no guarantee (only lg covers screen with guarantee and for tow years). thankfully it was in doa period and replaced it with 3d. dont regret it a single day

ohhh i have seen reviews. tehblogs that dont know what they talking about... for example evo3d is better just because it runs on 1.2ghz instead of only 1 on lg and not knowing that it is one generation back as a processor... like saying that a 486 is better than pentium cause it is clocked to a higher freq... and btw if you can really check out o3d in a store. not the evo but o3d. the 3d is no gimmick at all you will see
If you don't absolutely want it need to have the 3d display I would definitely choose the SGS2, mainly for its sleeker design, the SAMOLED+ display and the overall better OS (like Touchwiz4 more than LGs interface, and partly because of Samsung's hardware acceleration the S2 runs much smoother than anything else. Plus it runs Gingerbread, it is supported better- in terms of official updates by Samsung and also "unofficially" by the community).

Good Day,
Basically I need to choose from these two phones.
1. Samsung Galaxy Gio
2. LG Optimus Z (korean phone)
My mom is making choose from these two phones and I don't know what to do because both phones are very very phenomenal (If only I could choose both, trust me I will)
Personally, I would choose LG Optimus Z due to the fact the It would be so unique to have a phone which is not originally sold in your country + this dude comes with many freebies like screen protectors earpiece etc etc., and also because of the hardware too. In my opinion this dude is way better than the other dude if hardware, speed and performance are on the line. (and because I'm a big fan of korean culture, I would be so happy to have a phone that looks just like the one I see on Korean Movies)
On the other hand, I've read some claims, no not just claims, I saw some proofs too that Galaxy Gio Can Run the Latest Android 2.4/4.0 ICS, which gave me this hesitation to pick the first dude. I mean Gio is loosing against Optimus Z if we are talking about hardware. But when it comes to software thingy of course Gio is way better.
See ? tough choice huh ? If only some Genius here could help me root and mod Optimus Z so that I would run ICS too (but as of the moment I think korean phones are very fragile to rooting)
Back to the first Question, WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE GIO OR OPTIMUS Z ??
Considering the lg had 1ghz armv7, if its me I'll go for it without thinking. Gio had ****ty armv6, and trust me u wont be happy if go anywhere near any armv6 device.
thanks for the opinion, I would pick the Optimus Z too. but I'm afraid I'll be stuck at froyo 2.2 forever
So its still had froyo? What a bummer. Well its up to u then. Gio had gb and dedicated forum here in xda. Maybe will get unofficial ics too. But the msm7227 armv6 is horrible.
It's brand new from korea so basically It's in 2.2
