I have a rooted Incredible and am upgrading to a Razr. It's been so long since I've rooted that I don't remember if doing so automatically installs CWM??
I want to be able to unroot to get the ICS update but not have CWM, just the default boot/recovery options.
Is this possible or have i completely forgotten rooting techniques?

No it doesn't - You'll have to install it manually once rooted...

Plus because we are locked we don't actually replace the recovery with CWM so there is no issues with that.
You dont need to unroot because CWM doesnt yet overite stock recovery

I have a Motorola Milestone X2 and it received an update from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 over an OTA. I originally had root access with 2.3.5 and now with the update root access is gone. I understand there is a current thread right now trying to figure out root access for the 2.3.6. But I was trying to sbf back to 2.3.5 and I get the error below on my device.
RSD lite v5.4.4 Program: "waiting for re-emuneration"
Phone says:
RSD
Starting RSD protocol support
SVF: 106:2:3
sec_exception: b655, eddc, eb
All the guides I have found about downgrading just state:
1. put phone in RSD lite
2. Flash rsd
3. phone complete
In some kind of order.
My question is.: Is this error normal? Does anyone else get this error? Does anyone know how to get past this so I could go back to 2.3.5 or maybe anyone know how to root 2.3.6 (Posted on another thread, in general)?

Could I ask what sbf are you using?
I am using an SBF fron ntelos wireless. It is specific to them. It is from Daytona.
I think it may work on the x2 as well because the droid x2 also has the moto name of Daytona.

The Atrix bootloader was unlocked by a British sbf file. You could be famous.

These regional roms are mostly usable on the major carriers. They probably rent tower bw from vzw.
Ok, When I get a chance I will take a look at the different the two forums. Do you think it will present a good outcome. Away to preform a reverse sbf? I do keep getting an error. I have tried the standard SBF way for the droid x2. I have also tried a Verizon 2.3.4 and I have gotten the same error.
Thank you so much for your help!

I do not know what to do with this section????
Thanks Twobrare , devs on xda as well as other users may better help you to save your phone and we never know where a bootloader unlock could come from or at least other milestone x2 users could benefit.
Let me know if you have trouble uploading the sbf?
---------- Post added at 05:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:41 PM ----------
Just to show that the two phones are very closely related. And how a sbf file being uploaded could change a phone's popularity. The atrix would be as dull as the x2 if not for a lone sbf file unlocking the phone for everyone.

yea, I have tried DAG45 way and that did not work . Yeah, what is the other option you have UD rsd?

Stop at fast boot. I could be wrong but IDNK if Mx2 has fast boot support as the Bionic does.
Ok, it has the options for fastboot. So I will try that when I get home if I have time if not it wont be until Monday after Christmas lol.
I have tried this way and it does not support the fast boot RSD. The RSD program was just trying to get the phone. When I do it in RSD mode in the phone the software just says, "re-emulizing" and the phone has the errors in the first part of my post in the beginning.
IDNK man. rsd 5.5? Post on DAG45's thread.
Ok I will go on head on over to that thread.... maybe more can help. Thank you for all your help!
I could not find RSD. v. 5.5 does this still exist?
I was able to find V5.5 of RSD and I am getting the same error.... This is really odd to me. It seems that I am the only one having issues going back and forth between versions of android? What could cause this? I would not need to do this unless I could obtain root access.
I have installed the wrong leak and i would like to have my phone rooted. i am on the non rooted 4.0 leak and want to get root by installing the pre rooted version . can i do that?
What 4.0 leak are you talking about?
The leaked update for the rezound

Just root your install so you don't need to reflash everything. It's been covered here, there's a specific version of SuperUser you need to install. I don't remember it off the top of my head but a search should turn it up.

There is a odin flashable for your build in android development. That will get you back up and running.

I can link you to the Odin but not sure if there is a solid root for it yet once you Odin to MJ7. I seen they are close but best way is to try and maintain root during update.

This lists MDK, ME7, and MI1. Be mindful that root has not officially been achieved yet for MJ7 (4.3), so if you want root, stick on whatever you were coming from. Also, do not attempt to downgrade- if you tried upgrading from MI1 to MJ7, flash the MI1.
Additional details on how to do this via ODIN are in the link provided. Hope this helps.
This may be an extremely stupid question but I've been browsing around and can't seem to find an answer...I currently have VRUAME7 build, and seems as most ROMs have stopped pushing updates for the safestrap / this build.
I'm having some issues on my ROM, screen locks and won't wake up. So I figured, will have to update my version to one of the supported.
Is the only way to do this to go back to stock ROM, unroot, download and then root again? Or is there any sort of tutorial for this out there? I've searched all over and haven't been able to find out anything about this.

Well the easiest way to do that would be to use the no wipe Odin tar of me7 then take the otas up through mj7 or mk2. Once your on one of those builds you can use Safe Root to gain root again and then install SafeStrap 3.7x.
I'll see if I can find the links for you...

Again... I'd just use the me7 no wipe to get you to the point where your s4 will accept an OTA. Then allow your phone to take those updates ...there is 3 otas you'd take to get to the latest mk2. Then you can root.. install SafeStrap and your good.
Your phone MAY be able to take OTA right now if u uninstalled SafeStrap...unrooted ...put any bloat you may have removed back on.. and removed xposed. But its easier to just use the method I said earlier if u ask me

Also look here for videos on how to do things if you needed. I assume you know that you cannot have a custom recovery that allows for aosp ROMs like CyanogenMod. Only SafeStrap.

So I had some substratum themes when my phone got the pie update and installed itself. My phone is now in a boot loop and once in a while gives me the option to factory reset. How can I save my data and get my phone to work again?
Thanks in advance.
You can try flashing the CSAB package through ODIN while using the CSC_HOME file to retain data. That would essentially do a factory reset of Android, but retain your data.

You'll essentially have to flash your firmware back to oreo, remove the themes, and allow the phone to update to pie via OTA. There have been several reports of overlays causing bootloop when updating. If you're not familiar with ODIN or the newer Galaxy flashing protocols, it's pretty long winded to explain. Lol
