Development for the Viewpad is almost totally stopped. But there are at least a couple of ROMs that are being updated more or less recently.
[ROM]EUViewpad7 v1.7b
and
[ROM] kwbr Viewpad 4.2 :: BeatsAudio :: Flashplayer :: App2SD
I've tested both.
My viewpaD is ITE so i installed the EUViewpad7's ITE ROM. Install was without probs. But Had some FC's and reboots. Flash never worked for me and Google market either. Scrolling was very laggy so it wasn't for me. But if you read the thread it works for many people.
I like best Kwbr's ROM. Flawless install, Flash runs out of the box, no problem with market. An so far I'm very happy with that rom. I've been able to install a lot of apps and customize launcher/ Angry Birds run. Even NETFLIX runs (very choppy but that is the problem of a not so powerful CPU).. A2SD works, etc
Just give it a try to either of those ROMS. If you have a non ITE viewpad you'll be able to flash an OC kernel and that would be a huge improvement over the stock ROM
As far as the language that you need, If the ROM does not include it, you could try @morelocale" maybe . Im a noob too ....lol

Which alternative ROM is the best?
I've tried most of all the ROM that are still available... I wished they got something close to a gingerbread level but the ones available are pretty good.
I've had similar problems of stalling because I'm using ITE VPAD 7 but it is manageable. The only one I really like is the kwbr rom and the EU ITE version because I have ITE screen. There is a new ICE but can't seem to download it to try it out.

Do you know any ROM with Arabic support (Can read and write Arabic by default) for Viewpad7?

Hi, I'm trying to find the best ROM for my P5500 (Nike, Dual Touch) I found the LILLY 1.7.1 WWE, and it's great, but English, so I'm shearching a the best existing ROM in french, and, what ROM you are using, I installed the Hard-SPL 1.22, so, I would like to have your help for this, 'cause I can't find a really good ROM, I tried the ROM with D3D integrated, but it was slow and didn't work...

There is no best Rom. Everyone have to figure out the best rom for own.

I agree with vcdwelt - roms are such a personal preference based on what you need and what they contain (do you want a clean,fast rom or one that's got all the apps included that you need).
It's just best to try some and see how you get on.

Hi All,
I'm new to modding my phone and recently flashed it with Cyanogenmod Froyo 2.2.
I want to flash it with Gingerbread but have seen that there are memory leak problems with Cyanogens.. In fact today they ave decided to pull support for the device.
What are my options for getting Gingerbread onto my Hero GSM??
I have seen Elelinux's mod highly spoke of, but it is based on Cyanogen mod (i think). Does it too have the same memory leaks??

Cyanmod have Officially Ceased supporting the HTC HERO as they don't have a DEV supporting the Developement for the HERO
THE LAST Cyanmod for HERO is I Guess version 7.02 and thats it
Elelinux's Gingerbread is Based on the CM7 but He does his own tweaks as well you can always check the thread for what problems people are reporting for the ROM
There is another GIngerbread ROM by 'Cronos' which you could try, but you will have to google for it as I don't think I might get away with posting links here

I have used elelinux's Roms a lot so like his work but is personal choice and thats what XDA offers it members 'CHOICE'
Don't make assumptions about ROMS .
Try them yourself and stick to the one you like the best
in his latest version (2.0), elelinux included a special patch that has to be flashed separately after flashing the ROM, and on my Hero it reduced the amount of black screens and invisible menus by a great deal. They still show up every now and then, but only when doing memory-intensive stuff. Go check out the thread
Haven't tried Cronos yet, but they also get some good credit I believe.

I hope somebody here could help me - I'm looking for the most stable ROM + Gapps for my old baseband P500. I really use it for work, so I cant afford to have it crash. I already have it rooted and installed recovery just yesterday from ROM Manager.
I installed a few different ROMs, but they are not stable. I have heard of other ROMs like PerfectPeso, etc. but it seems either the dev has quit or it has gone new baseband only. On facebook, I read about some people talking about CosmicExperia 3.5.. but not sure about that. I would have preferred gingerbread based ROMs, but hey... beggars cant be choosers.
On top of that, mediafire is no longer working, so I have even fewer working links now.
If you guys have some recommendations, could you please, please point me to download links as well ?

Why not update your BB... and use the cm nightlies... (Yeah they are very stable)
For Old BB use mik's 6.5.8 ROM (Most stable)
Hello people im a noob i know, but ive searched the entire forum ive read the threads on developmente with [ROM], but i can never download a working rom, what m i doing rong, are you all hiding the roms.
P.s - After following several tutorials i have rooted and installed rom manager and clockworkmod on my viewpad7 so i just cant find any roms to test it, thank you in advance.
Anyone, really i can find the place to download them, i found a link to a paid website, and then it says private, other then that nothing.

Welcome, I'm not sure which specific custom ROM for the Vpad7 you are looking for, it would help if you can be spell it out ...
You are aware that newer ones are ITE (multi-touch screen) hardware/firmware based and older/generic/other name-branded ones are non-ITE, and the few Roms developed mostly in 2011 are distinct for each group.
Any and all files, including ROMS, patches and downloads housed on multiupload.com sites have been DOWN and unavailable as those servers have all been offline and shut - for good apparently, as in permanent. (Goggle for what happened, as you obviously are unaware as newbie around here ... as I won't go into details)
The EU V1.7b (ITE verison) is available via my dropbox as OP has been away & will have a new link up shortly - see below & perhaps you will better understood.

I use EU V1.7b ITE ROM as my favorite ROM of choice, developer is back and one of the best around here for the Vpad7.
The CPU has practical limits and hardware cannot be overclocked at this point, performance is optimized AFAIK - YMMV.

Thank you for all, im finally getting some working links, sucessfully downloaded and still trying kwbr Viewpad 4.0.
Very strange, its installing without asking everything i had before even very old stuff that i had uninstalled long time ago, but i did erase all the cache before loading this ROM, is this normal ?
Never mind, fixed it , i just set everything to factory settings because i noticed the account was not syncing, now i have the ROM kwbr working with the account syncing, im installing whatever i want, everything working fine its even faster.

What is the best rom you can recommend me ?
I read that ubuntu is avaible but I don't know if it's fully working...
Should I use Urukdroid or BullAOS (CM7, I'm right?) because my tablet is pretty slow with stock android ... ?
The best would be a dual boot and I think it's quite possible no ?

I believe that it is up to you to see what ROM works best for you. I prefer UrukDroid, some like Ubuntu, others still just use chrulri's ROOTED stock ROM. Advantages/Disadvantages are mostly seen in personal use.
One way to go about it would be trying them all out and see which one best suit your needs. If you like speed and optimization, go for Uruk. If you feel that stock ROM is good enough and you just need root, try above mentioned chrulri's ROM. If you don't like android and for some reason want Linux, go for Ubuntu/Debian.
