This could be a rom issue or any bad app causing this behavior. Go into recovery mode and wipe data.

i installed hydrogen v10.3 rom. but it happens on a few roms like resurrection and some others.
i can have my phone anywhere and its fine one minute then when i go to unlock it its off. some times its the sd card being unmounted for some reason but usually its completely off so i have to turn it on with power button.
im using the kernel that came with the rom too

Try Omega v9, I had same issue on resurrection. Fine one second, off the next. Since I flashed omega two days ago my fone hasn't switched itself off once, no FC issues either. Give it a go, I'm really happy with it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Also use the latest siyah kernel too, makes battery life soooo much better, simply install rom base, then use CWM app in app drawer to flash kernel
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

can you send me link to latest one of them kernels then please.
thanks.
im glad im not the only one suffering with the problem.
its only some roms like i mensioned some have been cool but its always the ones that i want to use for a bit.

This is my first post and i was wondering if people could answer some questions i have.
First off heres my phones specs
Samsung galaxy s2
Model number
GT-I9100
Android version
4.0.3
Baseband version

Kernel version
3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505

I've rooted my phone using rachmat3 method and thats how far i've got because only just got phone as a gift and im scared to flash a new rom incase i brick my phone.
Is it safe to use the cwm.zip to flash a rom that i used from rachmat3 root method or do i need a updated version of cwm?
Can someone recommend a fully working paranoid android rom that i can use for daily use?
Which kernel would be best to use with paranoid android rom?
Should i flash a kernel before i flash a rom?
If i install paranoid android rom would i then have a permanant cwm on my device or would i still need to use my temporery cwm.zip?
What is the chances of me bricking my phone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Flash what ever rom u want till its for GT-I9100
No need to worry
Just read the specific rom instructions carefully
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Yes mate now u can flash any Rom ....Just read the instruction before flashing
I would advise you to flash a safe kernel first before doing any wipe and flashing any roms. Siyah is a safe bet.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
1. Download ROM Manager and you'll be able to flash any ROMs you wish using that.
2. All the PA versions are working fine, so just browse through and choose for yourself.
3. Asking questions like that is against forum rules because they often lead to arguments. The best advice is just to download and flash different kernels and stick with which ever one you're happy with.
4. It really doesn't matter in which order you flash them. The result is still the same. I personally always flash the ROM first, but it doesn't make a difference.
5. If you use ROM Manager, as mentioned previously, even if you have to do a full wipe when flashing a different ROM, it doesn't matter because you can simply download it again anyway. Or just save it to your SD card.
6. The changes if bricking your phone are higher if you're worried about it. Just be sure to read all instructions given about installation and follow them perfectly and you'll be fine.
If after reading about flashing ROMs you are still worried, then you're better off waiting for a bit until you've done more research into what exactly is needed.

Thanks for your replys.
just follow the steps mentioned and follow some video (like on youtube) and it'll be easy!
Would it be to much to ask if someone could put a link to the right paranoid android rom for my phone please

I don't recommend using ROM Manager since it can brick the phone.
Why don't flash custom kernel and use real CWMR?

Most ROM zips include kernels, so if somebody wants to stay with the same kernel, then it's necessary to flash custom kernel again.

I just mentioned ROM Manager from personal preference to be honest.
I've always used it on my S2 and never had a problem with it.

Ok so i've downloaded paranoid android and gapps ive nandroid backed up i've efs backed up all thats left to do is flash pa lol is it defently safe using rachmet3 temp cwm.zip or should i download a new temp cwm or use permanent cwm through flashing siyah kernal. Just coz i have no pc to revive a bricked phone and i wont beable to check online for solutions as my phone will be bricked.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
You will need a pc if for example you flash a kernel and somethings not right. You cant get cwm, only download mode.
That happened to me when I flashed a siyah kernel.Phone was stuck and I couldnt boot into cwm.Only way to fix was boot to download mode and use odin/pc.

Kernel panic help please

My missus has a i9100t that I rooted about 2 months ago. I keep getting kernel panic.
I have tried numerous combinations of roms and kernels mainly various versions of cyanogenmod, resurrection ROM and Muei with various versions of siyah and CM9 kernel. But I keep getting the kernel panic about 2 or 3 times a day.
Any advice would really help because it us getting very annoying. I also have a i9100 which I never have this issue with.

1.
-What do you mean by "kernel panic"?
- did you Black screen, sleep of death (SOD), or sudden reboots?
2. Post your ROM and kernel details, Goto Settings - About, and post everything you see.
3. If you have any additional info that may help solve your problem, please post them

Ok so it's been a day and I had 2 kernel panic events today. I don't think the issue has been resolved.
I'm wondering If using a kernel cleaner may help? I've never used one and read several posts where they recommend not to.
Any advice?
Flash stock ROM and check if the problem persists.

I have used a stock rom before and it wouldn't go into kernel panic, it would just freeze and begin heating up.
I'll try the kernel cleaner and see how it goes over a day.
Also just wanted to thank you for taking the time to help me out.

Do i have a brick bug ??

I rooted my phone using rachmat3 methed awhile back then flashed Siyah-s2-v4.0.1-CWM.zip everthing went ok i have been using the kernal for 2days now nd i was going to flash my first rom last night but cwm wouldnt load on my third attempt it worked but im put off flashin rom incase of a brick bug.
Anyway my phone went funny earlier everything on my phone went a negative colour i restarted phone its normal again whats wrong??
Heres my specs
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
siyah = safe
Siyah is safe from the superbrick bug. You have other problems
Sent from Jelly Fuelled SGS2
The brick bug has two parts playing role. A hardware bug, i think intratech has tool to detect that. And a software( kernel )which allows to use of a specific command to erase data while flashing.
If those conditions are met, and you try to flash a new rom which uses that erase command ur phone becomes bricked.
Most new kernels are safe, but you should check logs and user feedback beforehand to be sure. One version of siyah had the bug but now it's removed afaik. (i have faulty chip and I'm on siyah)
By the way inverse colour is a siyah "feature". Press home 4 times

first u can use the kernel that comes with PA v2.16 for a cpl of re-charge cycles and see the performance later u can flash siyah kernel if u feel so
But woudnt i need siyah kernel to restore my back up incase of problems or can that be done using stock pa

If you want to keep Siyah and PA together, in CWM just flash PA then Siyah again.

Help flashing Jellybam jb 4.2.1 status 7 error

Im using the Siyah-I777-v7.6.4-S kernal and did the norm whipe and all the cachs and such downloaded the rom 3-4 times on pc on phone directly and still get the error no matter what any help would be great thanks if you can tell me what kernel you are useing with this rom and were to get it thanks.
you have posted in the wrong section for one. to get rid of that error you need to odin back to stock and then root it and have cwm. then flash again. no other way of doing it. you could have asked in the jellybam thread. it has already been stated how to do it.

It's an error with the build prop. When I went from JellyBam to Avatar ROM I had the same issue. I fixed the build prop, and deleted the assert in the updater script

Wouldn't be, that kernel was made by AJ for Sammy JB ROMs.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
so i can using the same kernel i installed get hte shosock rom to work but i can not get this one to work i even reinstalled the task650 aokp rom and then did the whip and all that and still can not this rom to install my problem and the reason im going from the task 650 rom to a different one is battery life with the task650 my battery would drop like a percent a min and was killing me i want to have a JB 4.2.1 rom would like the multi window option like shoshock rom but i love the aokp stuff so any other rom options with kernals would be wonderful or mods but currently im got the sohshock rom on it 4.2.1 NS WILL GIVE IT A TRY FOR A WILE AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS i dont think im going to stay with it thow cus there not that much to change to customize .

I was running stock rom and now flashed cyanogenmod 9.0.0 I have an old backup but im not sure if its 9.1 or 9.0 so my question is if I try restoring is there a chance I wil mess up my phone?
Thanks
what is your phone? you are flashing ICS!? now!? nothing goes wrong until the file belongs to your phone. i suggest you to flash the latest jb of your region. good luck.

1) frying touchscreen occurs when flashing note 2 files. Bigger screen needs more power. Too much power for s3 so fries
2) don't use ics. Unsafe on s3 for other reasons.
