fI have followed all of the steps listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083
This is after trying a few other threads i lost track of which nearly caused me to throw my phone against the wall.
Anyway - I am stuck at the part where you click 'Recovery Mode' and it should boot into the green options.
here is what i've done:
sbf'd to 2.3.4 (using: VRZ_MB870_4.5.1A-DTN-150-30_1FF_01.sbf)
rooted via this therad: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315711
updated superuser, then installed busybox
installed dropbox on phone and pc, dl'd and copyd over the bsr from the link (after extracting it), installed app successfully onto phone. ran app->
installed "Install Recovery" -> allowed via su-
success!
->ensured device is plugged in via wall charger, not into any usb port etc.:
chose - > recovery mode. phone turns off, then turns on, is stuck at the Red and white M (Dual Core) logo. Never progresses. not after 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes.
Also tried "Recovery Mode" without attaching phone TO ANYTHING (as the app suggested, which in contrary to the thread, but i tried both).
Any ideas?
When you go into recovery, you have to have your phone plugged in. It's a limitation we have with the DX2.
Edit: Sorry, I missed the part where you did that. Let me think of another reason.

Ok. A couple questions. Are you running stock gingerbread right now? Did you for sure get the regular bootstrap recovery and not the CM7 one?

Yes stock GB for sure. I made note as to which sbf specifically, but yes it is 2.3.4
The app says CM7 recovery, but from what i've read its a modified version made for the dx2. i downloaded the app from the thread i mentioned at the top of the op

Ok, the CM7 recovery might be the issue. The CM7 bootstrap is modified for the CM7 ROM, not the DX2 in general. There is another bootstrap that you should try. I'll see if I can find a link to it.
---------- Post added at 01:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:03 PM ----------
Try this one:

Use this to install CM7 and THEN when you have CM7 up and running, remove this one (if its still there) and install the CM7 bootstrap.

Got the version you posted installed, installed the recovery, and then clicked recovery mode, still has the same issue.
At this point i am wondering if i will need to sbf and start over this time using the bsr you provided, what do you think?

You made sure you plugging it into the wall right? It HAS to be plugged in. I dont think you need to SBF to get this working. Something is preventing it from booting into BSR. You said superuser asked to allow the bsr to work right? Then apparently you are rooted. Just to confirm, download root checker from the market and run that. See if your SU is running correctly.

Yes root checker comes up positive, yes the device is plugged into the wall
triple verified:
here is what happens if i try to run Recovery without plugging it in: it turns off.
when its plugged into the wall: turns off, then turns on, shows the M screen and hangs.
Tried using a 100% wall charger (no usb) and also tried a usb->wall charger. both same result.
Yes su did confirm the install, i was thinking there might (at this point) be an issue since i already tried to install the cm7 bsr which might prevent the dx bsr from installing/launching correctly, but you'd think it would have been overwritten.
the phone is at 100% charge and has been the entire time.
------------------------------------------
wait a tick: it worked. i tried installing the bsr (again ) and did a reboot, and somewhere in between it worked.
thank you

So it DID work. Thats good. Maybe I was misunderstanding you. What do you mean by 100% wall charger (No USB)?
Yes it worked. It needed to do a normal reboot after replacing the cm7 bsr with dx. Bsr but then it worked.
I tried using a wall charger that had no PC USB. Straight wall to phone in addition to the wall block that a USB cable attaches to.
I am now happily running cm7dx on my phone, there were no additional problems once we solved the bsr issue.

So, when you install the Alpha CyanogenMod 7 build, chances are ClockworkMod Recovery will fail. This tends to be because the custom overclocked kernels in WebOS take up a lot of room in the /boot partition, and ACMEInstaller does NOT (And maybe cannot) resize this partition. If you want to use ClockworkMod, you need to boot it via novacom.
1. Unzip the update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip file into the same directory as Novacom.
2. Make sure your TouchPad is plugged into your computer, and reboot it while holding volume up. You should see a USB icon.
3. In the command line, browse to the directory Novacom is installed in.
4. Type this into the command line prompt:
Code:
novacom boot mem:// < uImage.ClockworkMod
You should now be able to flash gapps or whatever else you need to install (Except moboot, which you need to use ACMEInstaller to install)
Novacom is probably installed in: "C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc" for most users.
To get there in the command line, type:
Code:
C:
cd "C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc\"
Then you can continue on to step 4.
Thanks for this info , it worked great. So am I to assume if I remove overclock Kernel thenI wont have this problem and will be able to install CWM through ACme with no problems ?
Edit. Tried to uninstall F15C to no avail.

I don't know, but I kinda suspect not, because I brought my touchpad back to stock and *completely* wiped my touchpad before installing CM7, and I had problems with installing CWM through ACME. I don't understand the inner workings, but that seems like it may answer your question?
OP: Thanks!!!
Reckon I will be tied to a cord when it comes to CWM ....
The oc kernels get written to the main boot partition... I'm unsure which, but one of the oc kernel's can consume too much space, not leaving enough room to flash cwm... try booting into webos and removing your oc kernels... and try again... you don't have to flash the entire thing... you can just flash the cwm with the acme installer...
thanks!
I am in the CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6 but nothing works, not even the reboot option... any option i select does nothing.
any ideas?
Hold home and power, go back to USB download, start ACME install process from step one. If you follow instructions exactly, it should all work. There are occasions where you need to do the same thing twice... but your patience will pay off.
Yeah I tried to remove the F15C overclock kernel and do just that with the installer . No dice , can't remove the OC kernel go to remove it and reboot to replace and it just reboots into F15C then in Preware go to put the stock kernel on goes through shows install asks for restart and just boots F15C back again .. I have also tried to just flash the CWM zip afew times throught the installer and get the error half way through about there not being enough available space..ugh..
Try installing one of the smaller oc kernels through preware? If not, crack out the webOS doctor..
WebOS Doctor
Tried several times, but the recovery boot did not respond, i see the menu options, backup/restore, reboot, install from ZIP, etc... but when I select the options they didnt do anything...
After several tries I decided, let me start all over so I installed webos doctor. Unfortunately I cannot share the link here..
Unfortunately after I ran it and finally clicked DONE, my touchpad wont boot, has a battery icon with a question mark inside. (The battery level should be at least 25% before you run WebOS Doctor). I left it charging for at least an hour but still on the same status, so I assume it got bricked when running the webos doctor. If the battery just went bad at the same time it would be a big coincidence.
There is a chat support which seems to be pretty good. DO NOT TELL THEM that you were trying to install Android, I assume you all know that lol..
portal dot webos dot com (Sorry, couldnt share the link here)
If battery doesnt work in an hour or 2, then I may have to send it back to repair...
My CVM recovery works.
When I did the install yesterday I put the cm install, cvm, mboot and market all in the cminstall folder everything installed except the cvm, went back into webos and put it back in the cminstall folder and ran the ACMEInstaller again and it was there this time.
Used the CVM to install the google market update this morning.
I had Webos O/C also
I installed mboot, cm7, and cwm with acmeinstaller and my CWM works just fine. Flashed gapps with it no problem....seems like a strange problem for you and misleading if you ask me
I had a similar issue getting clockwork to flash. The problem is that some custom kernels take up too much space in the boot partition and doesnt leave enough room for cwm. Changing your webos kernel should fix the problem.

Nothing strage or misleading the OC kernel is the culprit.. Just cause it orks fine on one device does not mean different things will happen on others ...Thats how things work and how this thread got started...

Yeah I thought the smae thing but I can not remove the F15C kernel.. I go through preware and uninstall , reboot , F15C boots up and then go back into preware and install stock kernel and then reboot and F15C still boots up. I have not tried to start from scratch with the Web DR. ... just trying to see if there are any other avenues try first..It's been fun trying to figure some out though lol...

If you can't switch kernels you may have to use the doctor. Thats actually what I did before I found out about the kernel size. I didnt really care as I dont plan on using WebOS.

I have restored the palm kernel.
But ACMEInstaller doesn't resize partition a second time !
Is there a way to force the installation ?
The boot partition cannot be resized, at least not by ACME. That is the problem. In my opinion, pushing Clockwork Recovery via USB is preferable to uninstalling an OC'd kernel. You should rarely need to use Clockwork Recovery, and in fact, most things you would normally install using it would, in the case of the Touchpad, not work.
: (
I know this is kinda old but im new to this, But im having this problem, I just installed CM9 and it boots nd everything, But no gapps, I went to go flash them and clockwork mod disappeared. So i stumbled on to this, When it goes to flash threw novacom It blinks the linus penguins and white words then gos backinto the boot loader with no Clockwork Recovery. I tried twice, What do i do?
Just trying to install Android on the TP for the first time... I seem to also be having this problem. Is there an update to this problem? Any new fixes? Or is everyone just dealing with either getting rid of an overclocked kernel or being tethered to a PC to get into CWM?
* Please note, If you get into the n bootloop then you will have to create a bootablet cwm sd card and flash a backup or albert wertz's r3 recovery rom. Then after it boots into stock you can run the nook unrooter app to do a factory reset.
Just download this zip and flash it in cwm and reboot. Then it will just restore factory stock and fix your tablet.
Here`s the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1092658&d=1338298057
This may most likely work, however if it doesnt and you get into an n logo bootloop, then all you need to do is make a bootable cwm sd card and flash/restore albert wertz's stock recovery rom for your model. Then you could just boot nook os and flash stock recovery through the nt recovery flasher app already installed and run the nook unrooter app. Or a more simpler way would be to flash this stock recovery zip after you have went to backup and restore and restored the albert wertz recovery rom.
I had bricked my nook tablet by using the origional nt recovery flasher app to flash cwm recovery (the old version) and i flashed cm9 alpha 0.2. When I booted cyanoboot had an orange backround and it wouldnt boot into cm9 it said something about a disk majic errot. After I kept on rebooting and booted into cwm recovery. I then flashed my backup and made the mistake of selecting reboot recovery. When I rebooted I kept booting into cwm and I now know its called a cwm reboot recovery bootloop. This zip willl filx that and do a factoryy reset because I tried flashing the latest nt cwm recovery and it upgraded but still cwm bootlooped.
I think this may have fixed my nook tablet 16gb's partions. While I was in the cwm bootloop I had mounted and formatted each option. Including the rom partion. PLEASE! Dont do this because you might have a different situation and this may not help restore your partions. When I flashed this zip and rebooted my nt it booted into the clearing data which took a little while and it the factory resetscreen. To mysuprise after setup and regristration my serial number i still there. This is just an assumption.

It's a factory recovery cwm flashable.

Okay.Sorry for the confusion. After you rename the file with a zip extension. Extract that zip. There should be a folder inside called nt cwm 8&16gb or something of the sort. Then go inside of the folder and select every thing including the folders and recovery img. Zip those files using 7zip. Then flash it. I will update the file today so mostlikely you wont have to do this. Before 12 am today.

Haven't tried it on a 8gb Tablet, but the filename says "8gb-16gb_cwm_internal.zip" so it should probably work.
By the way, some people reported it helped, but some reported it didn't.
I am getting the n logo boot loop. Can you give me links/instructions for next step?
For nd restored and ok. But after flashing again cwm with nt cwm flasher apk loops in n and on boot and no going to cwm recovery. How unbrick this now???

Anyway to regain the ability to do a recovery?
Please help, having bootloop with my vibrant while trying to install cyanogenmod 7. It doesn't make it to the arrow spinning around the android, and it resarts with the words "Vibrant" then "Galaxy S Cyanogen mod". I formatted all of the internal memory I could. Now, it just says "Vibrant" and won't reboot at all (When I was in the bootloop I was able to reboot into recovery but nothing else) I'm on my spare phone right now, and I'm in need of some help. I miss my phone. I want to use it. I am almost positive I did nothing wrong. I followed all of the instructions on the mods page. Was I supposed to install cm6 first? Was there a kernel I needed to flash first? (I was running voodoo lagfix) Help. Please. Fast. Anymore details you need to know I will answer.
NOTE: Admin please remove.
yeah just odin back to stock you should not flash anything while on voodoo unless its a rom with Voodoo enabled already...but your phone is fine are you familiar with odin and the 3 buttom combo and flashin back to stock?
I am what you call a "Super noob" I have no idea how to flash roms, use odin, etc. All I know how to do is root. Thanks for the reply btw I'm really freaking out... And yes, I am familiar with the 3 button combo to boot into recovery? Also, is the stock 2.1 or 2.2 because I had to update from 2.1 to 2.2 manually. Or.... Do you choose the stock... Will I still be rooted after flashing to stock?
no worries at all bro we all gotta start somewhere as far as your phone goes you need to download odin and some files as far as the combo goes for your phone the easy one to remember when using odin is just both volume buttons make sure your usb wire is plugged to the computer then when you open odin... while holding both volume buttons on your phone connect it and you should she a yellow triangle with android and should see COM4 or COM? make sure its reading your phone and then you want to check repartition because you need to format your system check this website out and send me a PM or post here to let me know but go to this website nice little guide and your choice to go back 2.1/2.2 easier to just goto 2.2 if you want cm7 http://team-passion.com/index.php/wiki/general/15-how-to-use-odin-for-vibrant
Thanks man. Ill try this later today. I have to sleep because I've been up all night trying to fix it. Didn't know it was this easy... I will report back to you any problems or if it worked. Its just hard because my internets not working and I'm having to use my spare phone to do all of this. Comcast is coming tomarrow to fix it.I guess I could use the mobile hotpot on my MyTouch slide. The only thing is that tmobiles 3g is crappy and slow -_-
either way you do it the files are not to big the biggest file would be the tar file which is the file that hold the rom and system ui and all patchs its like 170mb so that might take the longest but use dolphin browser on desktop mode that way you dont get any corrupted files but yes you will be fine if you get lost go into the Vibrant development and in the BIBLE there are more odin guides and links good luck mate you got this

also this right here is as simple as you can do it right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976LOOK FOR THE ODIN PART OF THIS ROM GUIDE AND you can flash this on odin and when you do you will be rooted and ready to do what you please from here remember the ROM BIBLE has some great guides for your user experience just search and read you will become more knowledgeable to all this
Hey man, I tried Odin, and its not going into download mode. Is stuck at this screen, like its gonna show the battery animation when its plugged in. its frozen. Please help. I think I found my problem. I don't think I wiped my davlik cache when I could, but I wiped my normal cache. Thoughts?
take out your battery your sd card and sim card for 5 min then put the battery back in try a different USB port from the back of your computer while plugging the phone into the computer make sure your holding both volume buttons and you should be good to go try that and report back .....or while the phone plugged in reinsert your battery while holding those 2 volume buttons it doesnt matter what you did or didnt wipe bro this option will bring you back to normal status and rooted if your using the ROM from Fishman bionix ...let me know

i found this little guide for you if none of those steps worked try this one out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 and here are the drivers just incase http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929 maybe it wasnt reading it
Thanks man! Its downloading right now. I tried a usb 3.0 slot and it worked just fine. Ill report back if it didn't work or any roms I get to check for compatibility issues. I really apprectiate your help man. Update: It works! I'm rooting it now and I'm gonna check out some roms.
Before you Odin and presuming that you are still stuck in a bootloop, try this. Boot back into recovery and then scroll down to Install from SD and find your CM7.zip and reinstall it. Then once it is done, it should reboot on it's own.
I think that you are only experiencing the CWR mismatch and if that is the case, there is no need for Odin. Don't forget that the first boot takes the longest bc the device has to rebuild the /dalvik-cache which takes some time.
Mod note: Make sure that you are not spamming the boards with this issue. All your other posts have been deleted by a Senior Mod.
Now that you are in the Vibrant section, you can post all your questions here but above all make sure you search. This phone is almost 3 years old and most of the problems have already been solved.
Edit:::
Well I did see this part. Glad it worked but I suugest you read a bunch as you are a self-proclaimed "Super Noob" and that can be bad sometimes. Glad you got it worked out though and welcome.

awesome! glad to help check out Fishmans threads he has some really stable and smooth stuff out there if your digging the froyo still that is take it easy
Odin isn't recognizing my phone after I rooted it... Any thoughts on what could've gone wrong? I'm doing everything right...
if odin does not find your phone always try a different USB port sometimes the usb ports can over work themselves and misread from all the usb syncing going on... try restarting your computer while using a different port what steps did you take when you odin back to stock what did you do from there if i may ask :?
how did you make out on those roms? everything all set ??
Sorry, I've been busy... I installed Cyanogen 7 and I might keep this for a while before flashing Cm10. If you can recommend any roms that go nicely with Cm7 please, do. My one problem is that Cm removes the swype keyboard D: I really appreciate the help man. Thanks.

I have no idea what happened to my GNote, but the problem is when I reboot to ROM and unlock the screen the screen turns black, keys lit and that's it 'till I reboot and it happens all over again.
I'm looking for a fix or guide to completly wipe the phone and start over. Luckily I have my current ROM backed up.
Thanks in advance.
Are you flashing a kernel?
Once I flashed my favorite kernel with a new rom. It booted, but then I had infinite blackness. To fix it I booted into recovery, performed a factory reset, installed only a rom and was fine.

Nope, just a custom ROM, flashed 8 before this one and never had any issues. When my phone was working, I noticed something odd in root browser; some folders and files have their date set to 12/31/1969?????
I can still access TWRP and download mode.

Put the phone in download mode, open Kies, plug phone into usb, in Kies select tools, firmware upgrade and initialization. Have your phones serial number handy (Can be found under the battery). Enter model number using all caps (SGH-I717) and follow the prompts. This will put the phone back to stock 4.1.2. You will loose root and recovery, but will be back to complete stock. By far the easiest, safest method to completely wipe and start over.

What rom are you flashing, and where did you get it from? If it's from a reliable source, and you're certain it's for your device, you might have a corrupt file. You can try re-downloading it and flashing again. If it happens again notify the developer and try a different rom.

I hate when that happens!
If you want to just fix what you've got you can reflash the SAME rom right on top of what you've got.
If you want a fresh start, in recovery perform a factory reset, install the rom of your choice, and enjoy!
After spending all night working on restoring the phone, at least the main issue is solved, I'm back on a custom ROM.
But I still see the same folders and files with date last modified: 12/31/1969. Can't believe I'm the only one with this issue.
KIES for me does not have the selection firmware upgrade and initialization under tools...I have Emergency Firmware Recovery and Firmware Upgrade Settings, which locks the program up (I'm on a Mac)...what happened is that I tried to do a upgrade that T-Mo was passing on, and can't boot past the screen that has the gray battery, or if I'm lucky, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4G Android 4G screen prior to the T-Mo jingle...phone has been wiped twice, at least...
And where do you see these files? Most likely they were on the usb storage and it didn't get wiped during ROM install.
What if I put all of the ROMs, etc., on the SD card, and attempt to restore that way?

Indeed, I try to put the ROM 2.3.5 Photon my original because I tried to put the ROM Electrify but I have no wifi ... so the original hand seems be the best alternative. The bootloader is locked from the OTA 2.3.5 so I can not put JB.
If you know how I can do and I can find the necessary ... I'm interested

A guy just got his photon 4g working with wifi and cellular both by following the methods given in that thread.. hope this helps.. and keep one thing in mind.. you cant unlock the bootloader if you are on 2.3.5.
I do not mind but I can not install bootstrap ...

what error do you get?
I am not a developer just have some experience on photon 4g as i have been through alot locked etc things with this phone
I will guide you through it
NOTE: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE OR ETC YOU DO THIS METHOD ON YOUR OWN RISK!
First of all flash the rom that works well on your phone do a complete factory reset and Download this torpedo direct zip which i attached for you and remove all the Superuser apps if necessary from torpedo zip then RE-ROOT your phone with the torpedo method you just have to type some commands in it... It will guide you through it.
Then download droidx2 bootstrap you have to download it first then install it through a file explorer Root is required
as soon as you install the bootstrap apk .. Install it wait for it to confirm then hook your phone with a Wall Socket charger (AC Charger) and allow permission to bootstrap then in bootstrap press to go in recovery which will be the second option in it.. your phone will be rebooted to bootstrap from there flash the sbf you want to..! DONE!
Note: Make sure you flash the correct SBF if you flash any wrong SBF you might get bricked! Good luck :good:
the sbf 2.3.5 USC_19 is for transform the Photon on Electrify => forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798145

Model number : Motorola Electrify
Android version : 2.3.5
Build number : 4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0
the flash it with RDS and, it's ok, it looks run.

i run Motodx2_bootstrap_signed.apk : install ok
i run Recovery mode : the phone is off. I restart it and open "system recovery", tap on Recovery Mode, it's granted and shutdown the phone and it's all...

"Do not forget to calibrate the battery - it means - install, boot, (maybe reboot), charge 100%, wipe battery stats and /data/battd folder, discharge to 0% without any reboot (but you can use it ofcourse), plug your charger while holding power button to bypass charge only mode, do not unplug your charger or do not reboot, until it is 100% and use it anyhow you like...
Then you can complain about battery. It means, not sooner than 2 days after installation.
This calibration is not needed because of battery (it is lithium battery), but because of not very good Moto power statistics management. Battery can be charged anytime you like, but the phone can show only estimated battery values, based on charging and discharging.
You can use this Battery Fix app for wiping."
make sure you follow these steps.. this must be the problem and make sure you are using a proper recovery i think bootstrap can not flash these types of zips.. i guess dont know correctly

what kind of bootstrap recovery does it look like?
is it the same as android recovery?
Through android recovery, I am not able to flash any zip file on sd card, keeps giving me the verification signature failed.
