I can't thank the developers enough for their hard work on this, but I just got a question. I just installed JackpotClavin's 3-31.zip CM9 on SGP 5.0 US and it's whole lot better than before, but I'm still wondering if the dialer is intentionally removed there? Maybe I'm ignorant about how ICS handles the dialer, but I assume it should be there and I'd like that on SGP as well, to use it as a VoIP device. I'm still a noob not having access to the developer forum, so I'm wondering if someone forwards my request to the developer or hopefully he checks this forum as well. Thanks.

Hey,
I own a Micromax A70 which runs on v2.2.1
It's just a poor ROM, crashes too often.
Can someone here tell me how do we port ROMs to phones?
Be it CM7, MIUI or the original gingerbread.
Help is appreciated.
I don't know how experienced you are..but its best to leave this to the dev's. Its extremely hard to port aosp (cm7/miui) to a new device, depending on if you have source code from the manufacturer.
I'm not much experienced and I wanted to leave it to devs but I don't think any dev is interested in this phone.....
So I wanna do it myself ...

A google search could help...I'm too lazy right now. But google searching will be the least of your problems...its (near) impossible.
Does it have to be cyanogen mod? You could root and delete a bunch of not-needed apps and that would probably help.
i'm also looking for a guide/tutorial as well
And it's not hard to port if you have basic howknow and common sense...seriously stop saying that "it is impossible" and stuff like that because everything who is done by someone else can be done by you...

Do it then . My phone still doesn't have cyanogen mod and its much more powerful and used then the micromax a70. Does it run aosp android? Or did the manufacturer throw a skin (sense, touchwiz, motoblur) on it?
I know that the Dart is based off of the Galaxy Mini, which runs Gingerbread, and was wondering if there is any known way to get Gingerbread on the dart (which runs Froyo stock.) Is there an image of the Galaxy Mini I can flash, or a Cyanogen port or anything? I haven't really seen much as far as custom ROMs for this phone.
Yea any info for this phone will be great I got one and need drivers to work in xp or 7
I am also looking for info on a gingerbread rom for this and there are gingerbread roms for the galaxy mini which is the same device pretty much but someone has to code one.
what do you mean you need usb drivers, to turn it on to usb mode go to usb mode on the device, if you need drivers then you can use the galaxy s drivers from samsungs site

Yes, there is CyanogenMod running on the SGH-T499. Unfortunately the forums where it is posted are down at the moment. Mostly everything is working, there is the screen wakeup delay on incoming call, and the buttons at the bottom don't light up.
If you are planning on doing the network/sim unlock, it has to be done on the original rom, so might want to do that first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548
I can't post external links yet, so here is the post that links to the other forums where the latest CM port is posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19936092&postcount=100
continue developing
ive noticed that development seems to have dragged to a halt on the t499 and i was wondering if someone would be interested in making a project out of this, perhaps continue developing on the cm7 that has already be started, or the cm9 that the thread has been closed on, im not too experienced in development on android but id be willing to help any way possible
I was hoping to find something here for my girlfriends Dart. Looks like I may have to tell her to get a new phone after having it less than a year. To bad. She loves her Dart. I was wanting to make it more enjoyable for her. I'm not a programmer but I can read and follow directions. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. As of 12/14/2012 my Gf. still has the phone..
Hey !
I'm loving my 10.1v but as this tab's owners will tell you, we are not well treated by Samsung and/or Vodafone and have to rely on xda to get up-to-date ROMS.
ROMS are not many, two or three mainly...not that we need much more but you can tell it will never be a much-filled section. Unless...
...I was wondering if there is any way to work on a 10.1 ROMS compatibility. To be more specific (and I'm asking to devs here, or people skilled in the dev field) : what is exactly needed to make that compatibility come true, if that is possible in any way ?
Our two or three ROMS are based on P7500XXKG7 and P7500XWKHD ROMS. I would love to know what is needed to port those ROMS and how could we turn this in an automated process in order to allow 10.1 to 10.1v compatibiliy...
I may be dreaming here but hey, I have an HTC HD2 as a daily phone, so to me, everything is possible...
Hello, I currently own an SGH-i717 and would like to start rom developing for it and would like to know where to start. If I was a complete noob and compared to most of the people here I might be, how would I download 4.0.3 source code, use adb with my phone and etc etc. I find it all very interesting but I have no idea where to start.
I am asking for help with this specific device, then maybe onto porting for other devices but this model has a very sore lack of developers for it and since I own an ATT Note I would like to start the development for it regarding ICS and etc. Also why is there a lack of developers for this model's roms?
Thanks for any and all help regarding this issue and I am excited to get started developing for you guys!
I think you need something called android sdk

So what do I win if I vote in the poll?

If that was the case, then why aren't there ice cream sandwich roms for att note?
and also, what do I search for? I'm very busy so I don't have time to mess with google all day. I need someone who is willing to work with me on educating a new developer, that maybe in turn had someone to learn from before them that appreciates a new (quality)developer.
To keep things simple here... Please refrain from jerky comments as I am trying to maintain progression in this area and again I am a very busy person so I would appreciate it if we kept this thread professional.
Thanks again for any help you care to give! I apologize for being a beginner, but everyone has to start somewhere... right?

I already have the Android SDK, but I'm not sure how to use it for developing. I tried once and ended up frustrated with it. Are there easy to understand tutorials somewhere around here that might help a beginner?
I've managed to unbrick my captivate using ADB once but it was very foreign to me and I was kinda impressed I even pulled off sending it into download mode. Thanks for helping!

Tell em what he's won Johnny!!! - A BRAND NEEW ICE CREAM SANDWICH!!!!! - ::And teh crowd goes wild!::
It's good to see someone with a lot of drive to develop, but the biggest hurdle isn't building AOSP from source. You need to get a working kernel that is compatible with ICS and all the Notes hardware. You can't google search how to do that. In reality it's almost impossible to do if you don't have extensive experience with that sort of thing.
We need the source code from Samsung for the Note and as far as I know, there is no source code out yet for the Note (for any version of Android). The roms you are seeing right now (two that Im aware of) are basically rigged versions of the stock rom where things have been removed (bloatware) and a few things have been added that conveniently worked out of the box without messing with code.
The real work will come when we have some source code to work with.
Ok, what's next?

Okay well that's a start... does anyone know where I can find a stock version of ICS to study it's code and experiment? I found source codes for SGH-i717 here
opensource(dot)samsung(dot)com
(I need more posts to make that a link, lol)
I searched for i717 and it came up with four source results on samsung's opensource search bar but I don't know what the four results are for and what the difference between them all are(unless it means it is for att or tmobile or etc, etc.), if you can tell me any info on these then I would be greatly appreciative.
Yeah, I have no clue how to do most things with coding for android but I do understand how to flash correctly, root and all that jazz. I just lack the programming skills and work flow it takes to make all this. I am downloading java for dummies and learning how to use XML files, but I am wondering if there is something else I should study too?
It sucks that I came here starting from scratch basically but I have learned a lot from here in a short amount of time, I appreciate all of the developers who have made the roms I love along the way, I am just growing impatient with the far and few between updates for your devices and I want to see updates for our devices come faster and the only way to do that is to do something about it. So I am very grateful for any help I get regarding this.
Where can I start with the kernel search? Is that what everyone is waiting on to start developing ICS for this phone? Does anyone know if one exists?
Another Question
What's the difference between a kernel and a rom? Basically.. what the heck is it in lamen's terms?

This is not the place to learn how to develop, go to Android Development and Hacking forums and start studying.
I'll preface my post by stating that I'm fairly certain that no stable ROMs yet exist for this device; the only thing I've seen anyone running is CM7, and that still appears to be in development for the E-739.
That said, I'm coming to this phone (temporarily) from an HTC Sensation, which I love dearly. Going back to Gingerbread from a stable ICS ROM is frustrating, to say the least. The interface feels very dated, and I'm not a fan of the dock that LG implemented for the device. I'd like to be able to select which applications are in the dock, as with ICS. Ideally, I'd like to find a compatible ICS ROM. Based on hours of searching, one doesn't exist, but it can't hurt to ask.
So: has anyone had any success getting an ICS ROM on the LG E-739? Or perhaps a passable Gingerbread ROM? I really just need to rid myself of the ludicrous amount of bloatware that currently inhabits my applications folder... Thanks in advance!
