Sense 4 - HTC Rezound

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/14/htc-golf-press-image-leaked/
So apparently this underpowered gets native Sense 4 and ICS, but a powerhouse like the Rezound can't, what gives?

The rezound is missing the imagesense chip.

I really don't think that is a good enough reason. They should say here is Sense 4.0, but since you don't have the imagesense you don't get that feature.

Again, it's a selling point for their new phones. Nothing is gonna change their mind, it's a good strategy. Just sucks for us.

3rd-ish thread about this? Sense 4 is a selling point for newer htc devices. Htc never said it can only run on higher end devices.

Sense 4 looks nice, couple of nice tweaks. but i like the senseless ROMs we have in the development threads (running scotts rom development edition senseless).

Sensation getting Sense 4 "Lite" What's this mean for the Amaze?

Could this mean that the amaze line could get a similar version. At first I thought no way in hell htc would give a old device of Sense 4 even if it is lite, then again lite could mean dry as grandmas meatloaf. Comments Thoughts?
Seems interesting, hopefully, HTC won't give us a watered down version like espresso which completely sucked

I'm not too concerned, sense has a long way to go to compete with go launcher!
dont think so, firstly, we have a 1.5 Ghz S3 processor vs the 1.2 Ghz S2 Processor on the sensation and we also have 1GB Ram as oposed to 768 Ram on the Sensation. I think our phones should be able to handle it
That would be awesome if we got that version, but by the time that rolls out I'm pretty sure we will have a stable sense 4.0 rom if devs pick up on it lol

firstly, the S2 is a single core processor which is inside the inspire. we have the exact same processor and gpu that is inside the sensation just slightly overclocked.

its not about being able to handle it, its about marketing and if it would effect the sales of their new one series.

i hope the sense 4,0 gets on the amaze. no reason why it wouldnt. that phone can take it
i believe it will be a reduced version of sense 4 as we do not carry the proprietary image sensor from the one series, and probably with decreased functionality in media sharing as well.
though i'd be surprised if it was vastly different from stock sense 4.0
All I know is I hope it don't worsen the battery life! I mean I seem to get better than most with 12-15 hours of decent usage, but definitely don't want to see that go down.

Rezound vs Vivid

I have a Vivid, a friend of mine on Verizon has a Droid Bionic. Been having some issues with it and obviously it's a Motorola so it's locked down. He asked if I'd recommend the rezound. From what I've seen the rezound doesn't have ics yet and I imagine it'll be the same terrible sense infested 3.6 pos that's on my phone. My real question is, does s-off require a wire trick and are there any cm builds for it? Based on my phone imo I can't recommend because development wise its kind of a dead end.

Same s-off wire trick, same pos sense 3.6 tho you can get sense 4 roms. No CM yet... Almost there but not yet.
That's an advantage over the vivid definitely as sense 4 isn't possible due to ril restrictions imposed by at&t. Still sounds just like the vivid though as not being the most developer friendly

Yeah nowhere near the development of the nexus or anything but it's not too too bad
The Rezound certainly has been a ruff road to follow development wise. It is an awesome device with stellar specs. The one downfall is the device is still waiting on full AOSP support. Apparently though one of our developers did have a break through the other night with getting LTE data working. So hopefully it won't be very long yet as he is just basically working out one final bug before he releases his work to the community.
One thing is for sure, the Rezound has awesome radio support, so signal wise its pretty much the best out there. Atleast in my opinion.

So I doubt my friend would be willing to do the wire trick, as I haven't done it on my Vivid, however I know on the Vivid you can get by fine with s-on, you just gotta flash boot.img through fastboot before you flash a rom in recovery. Tell him to get it man. Like it was said before, the rezound is way above league then the bionic. Both the Rez and Nexus have their strong points, overall most people agree that the rezounds strong point is hardware, and the nexus is software. Though ill tell you that Newts Sense 4 is amazing, and I have been using it since his original release, it only keeps getting better.
And if chad can pull off a lock on 4g, with Aosp, the rezound will only be arguably the best phone on Verizon.

That would be crazy if the HOX and HOX+ were not upgradable to Sense 5. It would mean only M7 and yet to be released phones and maybe just the Droid DNA would run Sense 5. Now timing on release would be my bigger concern. So if the M7 is coming in April, based on HTC's history, when would people expect the Sense 5 upgrade to come after that? I'm assuming we would get the Sense 5 upgrade in conjunction with Jelly Bean 4.2 and there won't be a Sense 4+ release on Jelly Bean 4.2
In terms of looks, I personally like Metro, but the screenshots here make it look like a bad knock-off. It's probably just the getting started screen/widgets, hopefully the finally product with live widgets look better.

Sense looks just slightly different. I wonder how much is actually different.
The M7 looks so ugly though. I was considering maybe swapping my HOX+ for one after I heard the rumors, but now that I can see it there's no way. I mean what is HTC thinking putting the recents button in the center? Why aren't they using on-screen buttons? Why does it look just like a WP8 device?
I was hoping for more from the next flagship device.

HTC One X Line to Get Sense 5 Update

HTC just verified in their Facebook page that their One X (and others) will be getting a Sense 5 UI update (excluding some HTC One specific functions). What do you guys and gals think? Will we get it as well seeing how our phone is kind of a sister phone to the One X? Will we already have a new Evo and Sprint won't continue to release updates for our handset? Or will we only get a hacked together version of it from the One X build thanks to our awesome developers.
Does this extend the life of our phone? Will it hold you until the next Evo?
Here's the source by the way:

After reading a few reviews I am starting to become convinced that the EVO LTE is capable of doing many of the things/features that HTC is trying to sell us with the HTC One. The HTC One camera reviews out there have been horrific so far in regards to the hype HTC is trying to sell us on.
I am at the point now that if a Dev in due time can create the same theme and features that the one has then there is really no reason for me to upgrade and bail on my EVO LTE. I also heard the HTC One Screen is not as bright either.
I have absolutely no faith in the possible Sprint/HTC Sense 5 Update.
This further proves my theory that HTC pretty much tries to sell us on that "this is the best phone yada yada" that they will support with updates and innovation galore only to see them pull up the red carpet and good china silverware after a month or so of the release date moving on to the next phone to bait us with leaving us hanging for the promised updates and innovation that never materialize.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is almost EOL, what are you planning to get as your next phone?

The HTC EVO 4G LTE was released in May/June 2012 (after the whole import block fiasco). Add on the 20 months wait period for upgrades and the first adopters will begin to be eligible to upgrade in January/February 2014, which is less than a month away. Therefore, the EVO is reaching its End Of Life (EOL). So what phone are you guys planning on getting next?
I'm personally planning on getting the Nexus 5. I spent all of 2 months on a Sense-based ROM. After I switched to Cyanogenmod, I never went back. AOSP > Sense for me. I'm hoping that with the Nexus 5 they'll be fewer bugs with AOSP-based ROMs.
Waiting to see if anything exciting is shown at CES. If i had to choose today would go with the LG G2.
That's why I'm going N5. Hopefully smoother running AOSP with less bugs.

Does the "5" in 805 really make that big of a difference? Plus how do you know what the m8 will have when it hasn't even been announced? Your logic makes no sense

That's what everyone say about leaks but then they end up being true.

Look here at one of my posts. A credible source already shot down the 805 chip and said it'll be the 800.. So maybe you can tone down on the fanboyism and snotty remarks..

I'm due for an upgrade in March. Based on the rumors and leaks, my eyes are on either the Galaxy S5 or the M8. I'll just have to wait and see what the final production will look like.
My upgrade is February, and I'm going with the Nexus 5 which I'm buying from Play Store and going to hold onto my upgrade possibly the M8

I'm surprised how many would buys Samsung device. I'm good with HTC, but I will definitely be considering a N5. Specs mean jack. If you've been around a bit, you know that. They mean about as much as a quadrant score,..i.e. nothing. I just got my daughter a Sammy galaxy tab3,and while it's a pretty decent device, I could not possibly prefer it over an HTC device. Still, nexus 5 is probably my gig in January.
