it wont just install like that..
Ive uploaded an empty update file.. just place ur BlurGallery.apk file (you got from previous user) inside the /system/app folder and use CWM Recovery to install it.. should be fine..
ignore the arctic motorola home launcher message whilst its installing via CWM.. iv always just used it as a template package lol
well hope it helps!
just do a backup incase u run into a problem.. although cant see why you should run into 1.. but better safe than sorry
Edit - maybe another way would be using something like rootexplorer and replacing the file located in /system/app with the one you got and fixing permission.. just a lil unsure if theres anything extra required here.. hence the reason why ive stated above method. anyhu good luck.. let me know how it goes!!
thanks. but how do i install using cwm?
just figure out what u mean.. will try it.. tq very much!
Edit: tried and failed.. nothibg happened after flashed it. I m sure i ve insert the apk to the update file
generally all u had to do with previous package is
1) insert the .apk file in system/app folder
2) install via CWM
3) fix permissions
should have worked but if not the case then il be more than happy just to put a package together for you. on GSM but im sure gallery really doesnt differ much. just let me know if ya need it pal..
Yup after installed it i have changed the permission in the apk in app/data ..
After reboot, it seems nothing change
What should i do?
I meant fix permissions in CWM.. also shud be system/app. just attach gallery here n il send package.. then u can fix permissions and should b fine after!

1) place zip on sdcard
2) reboot in cwm
3) go to cwm main menu, advanced > wipe dalvik cache (upto u)
4) go back to main menu > install zip > choose zip > then pick zip file (ignore the message about home launcher whilst it is installing.. just using zip as template basically)
5) go to main menu > advanced > fix permissions
6) reboot (if you wipe dalvik cache will take a little while longer to reboot) and you should be good to go!!
P.s - just do backup to avoid anything going wrong! also put in alternative one which is with the gallery i use.. dunno if it matters that im using GSM or not though. just uploaded incase u have no luck with the first 1.
best of luck pal!!!
ya this is what i done previously. i have tried it all over again exactly with ur guide, but it still never ne installed =(
i think i m going to give up n wait for the ICS from moto and i will et back my gallery there

Navigate to your sd card and long press the .apk file, select "Copy"
Go back, navigate to /system/app
Click "Mount R/W" at the top of the screen
Paste the .apk file
Long press the app you just pasted and choose "Permissions"
Change every permission until it looks like the pic I posted.
Reboot - Your gallery is back

as now x10 has a root so is it possible o hav app2sd and custom bootscreens for x10 mini? original bootscreens are in folder system, etc, semc, bootslideshow.
...this should be easy i think. To change the boot animation, just replace the png files with edited ones. I'll try to make some other animation during the weekend.
ya tht would be grt if u get it successfully done please post a tutorial cause i m still doubltfull how to do it.
ok, so I made a quick trial, I just removed the saturation from the current animation and it works, now I have it only BW without colours.
The way how I made it is that I copied the png files from metioned folder to my PC, modified it and put it back to the device, after reboot it works. So I will try to create some new animation during the weekend (maybe some proposal draft tonight).
So this is just a confirmation that it works.
I assume that it is required to keep number of used files, that it is not possible to change it without changing some code which calls all the pics. But I think 26 frames is enough to replace the current one with some funny animation
cool! will try it also and wating for some awsm animations anything about app2sd?

Any chance you could explain in noob talk how to install your startup screen, I don't know what program or commands to use
Edit: I tried using andexplorer to copy and paste the PNG files but I get a cannot paste error, dunno why cost phone is rooted
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
-first you need your device to be rooted
-download zip posted here
-extract to your SD card
-use Root Explorer to copy all the *png files from SD card to this folder:
system/etc/semc/bootslideshow
-of course you need to activate the permission to overwrite the files in the device, you can do it simply in Root Explorer, there is a button for it in top right corner (do it before you copy files to the device, otherwise it will not copy the files there)
-when done, just reboot your device and new animation should be there

Root exploreer is a paid app. You need a rooted phone, and an app called market access to see it.

You need to use the android SDK, more precise the adb. Try searching the web for a method to push and pull files from your phone and setting up the SDK on your OS.
Nice bootscreen, thanks darebak
can be done entirely on phone, using root explorer, I know cos I am running the bootscreen from this thread, I prefer to not use adb personally if I can avoid it, just prefer to be lazy and use apps

Any other solution to move apps to sdcard? I want to install more apps and games but there is no more enough space . Please help me.
Thanks in advanced!
I have searched forums here at xda as well as others for the last hour and I can't seem to get the answer i'm looking for. I need to uninstall swype and swype installer but when I go to settings/applications/manage applications I see swype and I select it uninstall is greyed out. I've already switched to android keyboard i thought that was the prob but no luck. I tried uninstalling from Linda file manager no luck. I also tried root explorer. All i see in root explorer is swype apk no swype installer found. I'm running nero v2 with lag fix. I'd really like to know the exact path for both swype and installer if possible and/or a solution to uninstall both. Thanks!!!
try titanium backup. Works like a charm.

I tried that, Swype is gone now, but the new beta won't install.
I know that we're not supposed to go and pass along hacked versions of swype, and I'm cool without it.
I was just wondering if I'm messing something up during the install from the Swype Installer.
you also have to delete libswype from system/lib. Then after that reboot and it will install.

This. There are 2 system files that are used with built in swype installs.
Delete: Swype.apk from /system/app
Delete: libswypecore.so from /system/lib
I like to clear dalvik cache after that using CWR but it doesn't seem to be necessary.
After that you should be able to download the beta and install it.

Using es file explorer;
Change to different keyboard,
Open file explorer,
Press upper left button that looks like sd card,
Choose system, then app,
Delete Swype.apk,
Go back,
Goto lib
Delete libswypecore.so,
Reboot into recovery and clear dalvik cache,
install new swype.
Worked for me every time I tried it.

ok so as an example, I'm going to install the white themed one, i would:
move dark.apk to my sdcard
using root explorer move it to /system/app
change permissions to rw--r--r
reboot
this will put the new market in place of the current one in my app drawer?
yep thats right, i just did im using the blu app.

Hey
owner of a rooted galaxy note 2 with Eclipse V9 rom android version 4.4.4
i recently replaced my default_gain file because the volume in my headset was way too low for me to hear it while riding.
so i changed it. it worked just fine for a couple of days but now i cant hear anyone and they cant hear me.
its not a problem with the headset since its work just fine with other phones.
i think returning the original default_gain file back but it did not help.

You CAN but the devs for that ROM probably hang out in their ROM thread and not in the Q&A FORUM. Thread and forum are not the same.
This problem is not rom related since they changed one of the default files.
When you replaced the file, did you set the permissions correctly and reboot? If you did and it still did not work, it might be a good idea to put the stock firmware back on with Odin and redo the rom.

im not sure what do you mean by setting the right permissions.. but i did reboot afterward. its currently back on the default file that came with the room
Files in the system must have the correct permissions for read/write access. Generally this is done with a file manager that has root permissions such as Root Explorer, ES File Explorer, etc.
You can find more information about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431543

Yes. Is it set to 0644 as mentioned in the link provided? If so and it still doesn't work, then you can try just reflashing the rom first so you might not need to wipe the device. Just make sure you wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash Eclipse.
If that does not work, then reflash stock and then redo recovery and rom.

Those settings have nothing to do with what I mentioned. Please check out the link provided in my previous post.

You need to check the permissions of the default xml file that you were messing with. Navigate to the file with ES and long press on it (I think...it has been years since I have used the app and know that it has changed a bit since then) to see the option to view the permissions for that file.
