Hello, got a galaxy tab for my little sister. I need a ROM that is fast, and rock stable no fuss. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not familiar with samsung galaxy tabs. Thank you for your time!
Do you have the P7500 (3g) or the P7510 (wifi)?
For P7500 I can recommend Overcome (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348533)
For P7510 you have way more options, but since I don't own this version I can't really help you.

For a 7510, Task14 is by far the best and most stable. Here is the link for ya

I've had no issues on Task 14 either. Nothing against the other roms, I just haven't used them. I recommend ADW launcher, it seems a bit snappier than the stock touchwiz launcher.
Another vote for Task 14. It has been by far the best I have tried.

If you want the best honeycomb its GALAXY Task 14, the best Ice Cream Sandwich in my opinion would be the AOKP Build 32.
Hope I was useful to you
Agreed with most everyone here: task14 is the fastest, most stable, and fully functional ROM that I have used on my 7510 wifi.

Hi caaznkid, I just wanted to say "kudos", for getting your little sister a great tablet. Top marks, for being a good brother.
I recently upgraded my girlfriend from an ASUS Transformer, to a Wi-Fi only, Galaxy Tab 10.1. Much lighter and thinner, which actually makes a difference. She never used the other hardware features of the Transformer which make it nearly twice as thick.
My girlfriends Tab is currently running Coffebeans ICS Unofficial build. And my girlfriend who's a mere mortal, not a geek. Hasn't complained once.
Kudos. Anil
Hello everyone I will put task 14 on for her then thank you so much for all your suggestions. I think the tablet is great for entertainment as well as learning things especially those interactive books. Hopefully it does some good for her education too and not just games and videos haha.

Hi all, I just got my Galaxy Tab a few days ago (7510) and as much as I love Samsung devices, I simply hate their software. Just as Ive done with every smartphone Ive ever owned, I immediately started searched for as close to stock as I could get.
So I found the NoName vanilla rom, which I love by the way, its pretty much pure Honeycomb as far as I can tell, only the Browser.apk it comes with does not have a Labs section in the settings, and the Chrome bookmarks sync does not work; Google Browser doesnt show up underneath Accounts and Sync.
Ive tried pushing other Browser.apks from other ROMs, and they just dont seem to work. If anyone has an answer for me, Id really appreciate it! I cant live without those thumb controls or my chrome bookmarks!
Flash tasks 3.2 ROM. That's all you need to know.

1. have you tried the Extreme Stock Experience ROM? (i havent but i know it exists)
2. GalaxyTask 6.1 + b00sted's ICS/Jetstream theme is the best experience you will get on your tab... its debloated and has HW acceleration enabled... its the smoothest and fastest... at least give it a try before you shoot it down just because of TW... its more like TaskWiz if you think about it
The custom ROMs that are created on this forum are nothing like what Samsung gives you.
I think the browser of otyer roms dont work directly because of framework changes... Im not sure abt it im not a dev but thats what i know

I too hate Touch Wiz and I've never kept it on my Tab for long because of issues with lag. I've used every stock Honeycomb 3.1 ROM.
I got a GSII Skyrocket and Touch Wiz sorta grew on me, so when the update to 3.2 came around, I decided to try Task's new ROM because In Paris was the best Touch Wiz ROM I had ever experienced.
With Task's latest (v6.1) 3.2 ROM and b00sted's latest (v2.4) ICS theme, I am absolutely blown away.
NO lag, at all. Ever. Period.
Its awesome with the ICS theme and its very refined.
Just try it, you're only a restore away from whatever you're currently running, so there's nothing to lose!

Yeah just wait around doing nothing when you could be on task's rom in a matter of minutes and thinking why the hell did I not do this sooner.
you guys exaggerate too much about the way you hate touchwiz
Thanks for all the snarky responses, when my question was a simple one. I've tried Task, not for me. And yes, I realize that it is an undetermined time, Ive had the i9000 since launch so god knows I know what waiting for a Cyanogenmod release is like.
I loath TouchWiz on my phone (thanks, hacker community!) and TouchWiz is the only reason why I'm not considering a Tab. I know CM9 is coming, but until that happens it seems my options are limited (if I buy one). So, I have a few questions:
Are there any 3.2 ROMs without TouchWiz?
If not, what are some good 3.1 ROMs worth checking out?
What are the chances Samsung will leave ICS alone?
Thanks!

It makes a difference if you're considering wifi/3g/4g, but if it's the wifi tab you're considering, the ROM that most people here use (except those of us using the CM9 Kang...) is Galaxy Task (v13?). Another user "Boosted" makes and updates a few themes that completely change the aesthetics. Check out his threads in the themes and apps subforum. With Galaxy Task and a Boosted theme (and pershoot's kernel) you'll be very happy. The CM9 Kang is also much, much prettier than Touchwiz; for now it's just missing a few features that many people don't miss...
Why not just flash the io tab rom like I have. Works faster and no touchwiz

Do you have a link? And yes, the model I'm looking into is the Wifi-only model.
I use Go Launcher Ex on a stock tab, works better than Touch Wiz plus easy to go back. ....
ADW EX is the absolute best launcher for tablets. If you have not before, please try it on the tablet. One of the better apps for tablets.
The CM9 kang can easily be a daily driver already.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

Hey there, I read your reply and got a question...
When you use ADW Ex, does it "lag" a little? (Of couse not as much as TW)
For example: when I open the browser, the animation is not completely smooth...
Is that normal? (remember I'm using a 3G Tab + Overcome 2.2.0 + ADW EX)
To answer your question about is samsung gonna leave ICS alone...99.999999999% chance no...they are GOING to put touchwiz on it (don't worry though CM9 is hard at work!!!)

oh and there will NEVER be a stock hc 3.2 rom...samsung never did it and google never open sourced hc..so never...just wait for ICS its sooo much better even with graphics problems
I got a really great deal on my gt 10.1 or else I would of opted for the Asus Transformer Prime around the same price but more processing power , quad core (tegra 3) with a 5th companion core for low power witch results in better battery life and is for sure going to get ICS very soon it may even already have it. Not sure on roms available for it though , but I know with stock HC and touchwiz on GT 10.1 I would not be very happy considering whats available in the same price range.
I dunno The Asus Transformer Prime just looks like a beast to me and if I was considering a tab today , that would be the one.
Here's the specs , fairly impressive , on paper at least.
Prime
just my 2 cents on the current market.
Touchwiz on the tab is nothing like the phone. Its not a bad thing believe it or not.

Well it depends on what exactly you're looking for .
If you want the latest firmware and don't care about a few glitches and the camera, I'd definitely recommend the 3G ICS preview.
If you're okay with HC (everything works there) you can choose between the 3G ROMs - The Overcome Experience, BinDroid or Ganbarou.
I've tried them all and I've personally found The Overcome Experience to be the best one for me (at least until I went to ICS ). It's quite smooth, it's stable and it has more and more themes available (just search the themes and apps par of the forums). I found Ganbarou to be quite similar to Overcome, but it doesn't have as many themes (does it have any?). BinDroid comes prethemed, but I didn't really test it that much (just had it on for a day or two).
If you don't care about your 3G, you could also go for any of the WiFi ROMs - for HC ROMs most people go with Galaxy Task, and of course you have the WiFi only ICS preview (more or less same as the 3G preview) and Roman's AOKP ICS ROM (similar to the ICS previews but with added options/functionality).
But if you really want to be sure, go around and test them all . Just remember to do a nandroid backup before!
Happy flashing!
I am currently running scrosler's stock hc 3.2 rom and i wanted to find the best kernel for my tab. Any suggestions?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Hi, you only have the choice of one kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138167
It's a really good kernel, from a talented developer called pershoot, I have been running it since I first got the tab. It also allows you to overclock to 1.4ghz which really makes the tab worth using in my opinion, 1ghz dual core just feels so slow especially when web browsing. I would strongly recommend you try this kernel out, it's fast, stable and good with battery life.
I hope this helps you
Thanks for the info! Galaxy Tab newbie here wondering the same thing.
Okay so I have been around here snooping for a while and etc etc.
So I need some help. I have looked around and don't get a lot of the tech talk here and what each ROM really has about it.
So I got a Galaxy S2 (Rogers) Canada
Since I use it for everyday use and work this is what i want.
Good Battery Life
Quick
Attractive Theme which looks nice yet simple.
STABLE!
So basicly something that looks really good and clean, but quick and doesn't lag.
Thanks
