So I upgraded to the latest RUU leak a while back from android police. How do I check to make sure it is the latest leak or how can I check my current firmware? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Guess I should add that you can pull battery then hold down volume down plus power and see what hboot you are on. Latest hboot is 2.21 and latest basebands are 1.22 and 1.21 I think.

Haven't updated ROM because I figured I'd wait till JB hit and bugs got ironed out. I also never updated firmware because everyone was saying that you you can never go back after you update. So, my questions:
1. Can I update to newest firmware while staying on an older ROM?
2. If so, should I?
3. Is there any reason to stay with an older firmware (assuming there are no compatibility issues)?
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. No, baring any compatability issues I'm not aware of.
I'm s-on hboot 1.12 and obviously wouldn't want to upgrade my hboot. I can do radio, but I guess that's it?

In the Android Development forum there is a thread with the firmware. You can flash the one that says "no kernel/hboot/recovery". That way it'll just update everything else. There are a bunch of files that it flashes but I can't say exactly what each is for except for the radio.
Yes I went with stock with goodies and I have no regrets

latest RUU is 4.03.605.2 which i think has 2.22.10.0801r, 2.22.10.0803r
with 2.27 Hboot which you can check by going into bootloader
im not a radio genius. So someone correct me if I'm wrong
but check the rest of your "about phone section" for RUU information
4.03.605.2 is the newest radio just google i and you will find it. I use this one and I think it has more stable 4G signal,
Be advised that 4.03.605.2 is a Leak. Since you are s-on if you flash the global leak you will not be able to take any official OTAs.
I would use the official RUU which will update you and then take the OTA that just came out a couple weeks ago. Find the RUU here:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Vigor
It's the top one, 3.14.605.12
Then if you are not happy with your reception you can always go up to the global leak if you want, you just can't go back down to a lower version without s-off.
Before you do this back up everything you need as this will wipe your phone and put it to factory stock.
You need to relock your phone to run it:
fastboot oem lock
And then you'll need to unlock again and flash Amon Ra before flashing a custom ROM again.
Question about "build"

So, this build number is confusing me. This is what I presently have and I'm not sure how I got here
Baseband 2.22.10.0801 /....803
Hboot 2027
Build 1.11.401.110
Seems like everyone else with this radio combo is on build 4.03 or something like that.
Is there any advantage to me upgrading to that build? I am S-Off and hate the prospect of relocking or having my internal SD wiped if I don't have to go through that.
Build number has nothing to do with firmware. It's set by the ROM. You're already on the global firmware.

Thanks. I can sleep now.
Is there a rooted version of the RUU? I'm relatively new to locking and unlocking my device so I'm not sure if I'm ready to do all that by myself. (a friend helped me root my device in the past)

Ok thanks, I thought i read somewhere that there are custom RUU's that are built specifically for root users but i guess not.
Oh I've never heard of that befor. You may be thinking of the option of downgrading hboot for s-off users
Those are flashed the same way like ruu's

I don't normally post in the development forum but this is where the other OTA update threads were created.
The Sprint version of the 2.95.651.5 OTA can be downloaded here. It includes some firmware updates, patches and replacements for system files, and the Sprint Connection Optimizer app. There's a Sprint thread for the complete OTA update linked courtesy of oryan_dunn.
Here's a firmware only zip file for any Sprint Evo 3D user that is S-OFF and on the 1.09.00.0706 baseband level and would like to update. The stock hboot 1.58, recovery and boot.img have been removed so that installed custom versions of those files do not get replaced.
The baseband version should change from 1.09.00.0706 to 1.09.00.0108 and the PRI from 1.43_003 to 1.55_003.

Nice updated my firmware thanks ramjet
Thanks Ramjet!!! What baseband number does this update to?
edit: to answer my own question... this updates radio to 1.09.00.0108

Believe it or not, 1.09.00.0108.
I know that doesn't sound right since the previous version was 1.09.00.0706, but the last four digits of the baseband version are the month and day (mmdd) of the build so it's effectively a 20130108 update of the 20120706 firmware release.
On another note, it's already been identified that the ButteredToast and Anthrax kernels don't have working WiFi when flashed with the updated stock ROM, but they work fine with the other ROM's they support and the updated firmware. The 2.89.651.2 version of Leedroid Tweaks also does not work with the updated stock ROM which is no surprise since a lot of framework files are replaced by the OTA.
Flashing the firmware updates should be no problem regardless of what kernel/ROM combination is being used, but developers supporting ROM's based on Sense 3.6 stock may have some work to do if they want to incorporate this OTA.

Good info for sure.
Seems to be working fine on Negalight.
That's interesting. I'm wondering if they will release updated kernel source too.

If we're lucky
It sounds like the kernel might be slightly offset (if that makes any sense) kind of like when the 2.89 update came out and an updated mkbootimg was needed unless you first flashed a non aroma kernel first or used the flashimagegui app.. I wonder if someone can

Thank you ramjet! So if I read correctly, AOSP users shouldn't have any issues after flashing the new firmware files? Thank you so much.

Correct!
At least none have been reported to date by anyone including some VM users that got a similar OTA update a couple of days ago. It's mainly the radio and PRI so it should be pretty transparent to the ROM and kernel.

Edit: Oops, forgot to rename!

I took the update on stock Ics with stock recovery and locked bootloader with s-off and the update went fine.

Thanks. What does your version number read after the update? Mine says 1.09.00.0108. Weird that the version number would decrease. Did this change the PRI as well? I didn't remember to write down what it was before the update. I think it has changed as well.

Hello all,
Is there a way to MANUALLY update hboot 1.24 to 1.25? JB is still not out for CID_J15.
Thank you.

Hello all,
There is still no JB update for me CID_J15 although some people with the same CID got it!
I am on JB custom ROM, i return back to stock ICS to check for the update, but no luck!
A guy "ahmad" made a thread for all the official OTA updates, which includes CID_J15, but when am on stock, my software version is -as i remember- 1.18.405.x
So, can i use any of the OTA updates mentioned in that thread to update to JB?
I just need my hboot to be updated as am going to continue using custom ROMs.
Thanks

Hi!
I am currently running CyanogenMod 10.2.0-jewel with root and s-off. I have baseband 1.13.11.0830 and I wonder if there is a newer version. I think I've seen people posting with this same phone with 2.15.00.12.19 but I don't see it for my specific phone. I recently flashed back to the stock Sprint rom, and ran "firmware update" and it said there were no updates. I also updated PRL and Profile.
Some questions:
1) Can I use a baseband from another phone from the same carrier or do I need one specific for my make/model?
2) What is the latest version of basebands I can install? Or where can I find an updated list?
3) Where can I get the latest version to install?
Again, I have HTC EVO 4G LTE on Ting (Sprint reseller). I have root and s-off as well as TWRP 2.8.6.0. I have HBOOT 2.09.??
Thanks for any help!!!
:highfive:
1. No
2. 1.13.11.1105. You can find this either in a RUU or modified firmware package. Hit the top link in my sig for more info.
3. See my answer for #2.
Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.
I recently flashed Captain Throwback's latest full firMware (themikmik.com/showthread.php?13192-RADIOS-RECOVERY-FLASHABLE-Jewel-Radio-Collection&p=220556&viewfull=1#post220556) then went back to CM and now my coverage is terrible. Unfortunately I don't recall what I had before. I was hoping there was something better.
Thanks again.
