Cant get phone to stay on after boot... - HTC Rezound

ok so i unlocked bootloader and rooted. then put on the clockwork, so now im ready to put on a rom but i ran into this problem. when i go into recovery i cant select anything when i press the power button. everytime i press the power button to select anything it just shows me the clockwork symbal in the middle of the screen. so when i boot the phone it loads and gets to the my live wallpaper and starts to run slow and skip then reboot itself. so can someone please help me because i know its not bricked but i would love to be able to select something so i can load this rom. hell i would love to just get the phone to stay on to do anything...

So ive tried to get the phone to boot or turn on while charging and it wont even turn on. when i plug it in and the orange light comes on i hold the power and volume down button and nothing happens then the light goes out. this sucks

ok so i have the armon recovery on he phone and i downloaded the rom i want to use but now im trapped on how to get the boot.img onto the system. do i have to have the boot.img to get the phone to work? also why wasnt the boot.img included in the rom when most rom have this already included?what do i type in the command to get the boot.img onto the phone?

depending upon the rom , most are included but some aren't . Because flashing the boot.img is the most complete way to avoid errors with mainver...issues with the ph98img file etc...
In Amon Ra, wipe like you normally do installing a rom and install rom. Once done, while still in recovery go back to main recovery menu and select developer options. Under that menu.. select reboot to bootloader.
Now, make sure you have your phone connected to the computer using the usb cord. Select fastboot, so now with phone connected you should see fastbootusb in white letters over a red background.
Take the boot.img you downloaded and make sure its not in a zip file and place it in the folder you used to unlock which contains fastboot.
Bring up your command prompt like you did to unlock, change directory to that folder if need be.
Then simply type fastboot flash boot boot.img then you will see finding, sending , writing.. bla bla bla .. should finish by showing you the total time taking the process. Now.. simply reboot phone and you will now boot into your Rom.

Phone Wont Boot [Help]

Hey guys,
So I properly powered down my phone and went to go into the bootloader by holding vol down + power button. As soon as it opened up the bootloader the phone turned off. I went to turn it on and it flashes the white sprint screen for less than 1 sec and turns off. When I plug it into a charger the light turns on for a few secs then goes away.
I have s-off + cwm.
I have read that if your battery dies in the bootloader after installing cwm your battery won't charge and the phone won't boot. I am not sure if this is the case but was hoping to get some input.
I am not sure what percentage my battery was at when this happened.
Thanks!
Go to bootloader (cwm) and reinstall your back up rom that outta do it. And after download the rom you currently have but replace your old one and flash it over usin cwm

My phone only stays on for 1 second tops. I cannot go to my bootloader. My computer sees the phone even when it won't turn on witch is weird. I also cannot communicate with the phone with adb / fastboot etc. The only thing I have not tried is hacking a usb cable to communicate. Any advice would be great. I will try a battery tomorrow.
ADB
Wow hey ok so I can see the phone in ADB after all... List of devices attached
HT167HX05101 recovery
Is there a way to flash the old recovery?
Or can someone point me to the RUU.exe? Not the ZIP
Thanks!
EDIT:
Well never mind... I had adb and booted into bootloader and flashed team win recovery from fastboot and it failed - sending 'recovery' (5016 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... FAILED (status read failed (Cannot send after transport endpoint shutdown))
Now the light stays on when I plug in but no longer flashes when I power button and no more adb. I'm screwed
Idk what your problem is since i do not have your phone in front of me, either you deleted an import file and are now screwed no offense and cant boot your phone my suggestion is to either call or take it to the store by gettin a new one. I would tell them your phone got hot all the sudden and just crashed that way its under warentee

can you use fastboot? Also, leave the phone alone and charge it, while off, for a bit. If you come back to a full charge phone and hold vol down and then power, it should boot into fastboot, try running a fastboot command from the PC. Also, you could download twrp 1.0.2 zip and put it on your SD card as PG86IMG.zip, same vol down/power and it *might* install the recovery from hboot. Don't give up yet. In theory if your charging light turns on, you're not bricked.
hopefully this works for me !!
Thanks

I last time I had adb I got into the bootloader by using an adb command once in there I flashed teamwin rec. It failed during install and ever since I am locked out. I can't get any commands. I wonder if it damaged my boot loader. Ill keep trying otherwise I should be able to get it swapped since it does not boot at all

OMG can someone please help me. Its almost bricked!!!

I unlocked my phone with the htc method. I had root, and superuser. titanium backup worked fine. I made a nandroid backup before I started messing with ROMS. I decided to flash infected's ROM first. Everything seemed to be going ok. It rebooted, and I got the cool beats animation. Then I got the htc splashscreen. then it just flipped back and forth between them for a half hour or so. something was obviously wrong. I tried rebooting the phone: same results. I can get into bootloader, both by holding volume down while powering up, and through the command prompt, via adb. I have a nandroid backup through twrp recovery, so no problem, right? well, it didn't work. So now, I can boot into the bootloader screen, but nothing else. I tried flashing a different ROM, but to no avail. Eventually, I noticed that I had htc sync running while I did all this. Did that wreck me? Any ideas what I can do now? I just tried to restore my nadroid backup again, without htc sync running, but all I get is a white htc screen. Please help me unbrick my phone!!!
whenever I try to flash ANY other rom, I get to the part where I have to use fastboot to flash the boot.img, and it says "sending boot" and just stays there forever.
Tried flashinf recovery.img, and the same thing happens. "sending recovery" and screen pause
God I hope someone smarter than me feels generous enough to help here...
Are you on windows? Did you install htc drivers?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I am on windows 7, and I have the htc drivers installed. Like I said, I successfully completed the htc unlock method. I had no problems until I tried to flash a rom
So you hold volume down and power to enter fastboot. Select fastboot by hitting power again. Then plugin usb and it should say fastboot usb. Then what command do you type after that?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
now it wont even go into hboot. not with vol down and power, or through command prompt. before, it was going into hboot just fine, and I was using fastboot flash boot boot.img to flash the rom, but everything froze
now when I plug it in and use the command prompt to enter adb reboot bootloader, it just says device not found. holding power and vol does nothing
Hmmm.. Not sure why you can't get into fastboot but your using the wrong command. You want to type fastboot boot recovery.img. Recovery being the name of the recovery image in your folder.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
thanks. I'll try that if I can get back into the bootloader
What you did works for that only installs the kernel. Then you need to flash the rom. I never did it that way nor do I use twrp
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I did flash the rom.zip from twrp recovery. when it rebooted, it started to work, then just went into a boot loop. then I started trying to fix it, now it wont even come on
For now, I'm hoping that the battery just discharged during the process. I'm gonna let it charge for a few hours, and see what happens. I'm afraid that I might have done a battery pull in the middle of the process, though. When I first flashed the InfectedROM, the phone rebooted and got stuck in a loop between the beats graphics, and the htc quietly brilliant screen. it just kept going from one to the other. It went on for quite a while, and eventually, I think I pulled the battery to stop it. However, I was still able to get into the bootloader after this. I tried to reflash the rom, and a couple of others to no avail. When I decided to try to reflash recovery.img, is when it hit the fan, so to speak. after that, I was unable to boot into fastboot, or even get adb to recognize that there was a device there at all. Man, I hope letting the battery charge works. Like a moron, I don't have any insurance on my phone.
when I plug it in, windows intermittently makes the gong noise that something is connecting or disconnecting, and windows explorer briefly recognizes that a removeable drive is present, but I can't get the thing to charge, or turn on at all, and adb refuses to recognize that it connected, so I still cant manually put it into fastboot
well, I left the phone plugged in for about 7 hours. I hooked it up to the computer and once again tried to get into bootloader through adb. The computer said that the "daemon was started successfully" then goes right back to device not found. I guess Im screwed if no one else knows any tricks or ideas..

Pull the battery
Wait 2 minutes.
Put battery back in.
Hold down Vol - and power.
Do not be connected to anything. And are you SURE your battery is good?
PM me if you see this and I dont answer.
I pulled the battery and waited. I even grabbed the battery out of my girl's evo3d. I can get into bootloader via the vol down, and power, but it stopas and asks if I want to update. If I say no, it just reboots to the htc screen. If I say yes, it says updating, then says press power to reboot. Then it goes directly to the htc screen and freezes. While it's in the htc screen, I can use command prompt to get it back into bootloader via the "adb reboot bootloader" command, but I can't get to my recovery menu. I was going to mount usb storage, and put another rom on the sd card, then re-flash, but it won't allow me to get to recovery

Ok, soundslike you have a "PG86IMG.ZIP" on the root of your SD card. Dont worry, just swap cards with your old lady but put the ROM on it first.
You wont be able to do anything until you swap Sd cards or otherwise delete the PG86IMG.zip.
when I use command prompt to enter bootloader, I get the opening menu: bootloader, reboot, reboot booloader, and power down. If I press power to choose booloader rather than fastboot, the phone immediately goes back to asking me if I want to update, and no matter what I choose, the results are the same. it reboots to the htc screen

You Need to be rooted and have a Custom recovery like CWM!
1. Put the ROM you flashed before you got bricked in your SD Card (using a card reader of course)
2. Reboot into bootloader mode (Power + Volume down)
3. Select Fastboot
4. Now your going to need a computer , download hansoon 2000's toolkit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943822 ) and extract it to your desktop
5. Now get the ROM you flashed before you got bricked (Half Sense or Sense Revolution R3)
6. Open the ROM's .zip file. (with winrar of course)
7. Extract the boot.img from the ROMs .zip file to your desktop and put it inside the data folder in hansoon 2000's toolkit.
8. Assuming that you are now in Fastboot Mode in bootloader, plug your phone to the computer using a USB Cable.
9. Now back to your computer, hold the shift key and right click on the data folder in hansoon 2000's toolkit you will be presented with a menu.
10. Choose "Open a command window here" or something like that.
11. Now you would see a command prompt window type in
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
11. Now let it finish.
12. Reboot into recovery (Clock Work MOD) by typing this command in the command prompt
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
if nothing happened flash a new recovery using the toolkit
13. Now select advanced
14. Select Wipe dalvik cache
15. Select yes.
16 Then select Go Back
17. Then select Install zip from SD Card
18 Select Choose zip from SD Card
19. Flash the ROM that you placed in your SD Card (Half Sense or Sense Revolution R3)
20. Enjoy? If you still have problems PM me

You're most probably left with a rock solid construction material. Look at my signature, there's a link about how HTC phones work, it's made for a little bit older phones but it's applicable in general to all HTC phones.

[Q] Need help getting my E970 to boot

Ok, so I rooted my LGOG E970. I figured I better unlock it as well, so I used FreeGee and unlocked it. I tried to download CWM but it said it couldnt download file. So I thought I would reboot my phone. Now, all I get is the google logo, with the unlocked key underneath, and it then goes to the LG logo and back to Google and shuts off. I tried to hold down power and volume down, nothing, and power volume up nothing.:crying:
any ideas? Thanks in advance! I love this phone!
CJ
You too, huh?
I did this the other night, and when the CWM failed to install I went to download it myself... That's when I saw that CWM for geeb is 6.0.3.8, not 6.0.4.5 like FreeGee shows. (Looks like FreeGee has moved on to targeting G2 or another... Oops.)
I hope you backed up your EFS, because mine was screwed up and I needed to manually restore it from the backup I'd taken. (I've had my phone rooted for 9+ months, finally got fed up with stock and was looking to get onto a 4.4 ROM)
So here's what I did:
Held power button until phone was properly off (failed boot seemed to be a still partially on state)
Held volumn up first, then started holding power.
When phone vibrated slightly, I let go of power and kept holding volume up... You should be in boot loader now.
When your phone is in the bootloader, connect to your PC (Make sure you have the proper drivers if you use Windows; I use Linux which doesn't have the same nonsense setup for drivers like Windows does)
Make sure "fastboot devices" shows your phone and then type: fastboot flash recovery _____recovery file name.img____
Press volume down twice to select "Recovery", and press power once to select it... You should be booted into the recovery that you just installed.
Once you're in a recovery, you can push a ROM zip via ADB, flash, wipe data/dalvik cache and reboot.
thanks, Just a little more help

Yeah, the stock recovery won't boot if you try it either. I forgot to tell you that. If you drop in a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM), it will work fine and you can both create a backup of your data and flash a new ROM...
If you want to try to get back to stock, LGNPST is what you should try. But to be completely honest, I don't know if you can LGNPST from the state that it's in. I haven't tried, and I'm using a custom ROM now (the whole reason I unlocked the bootloader to begin with).
bummer

Yeah, I got that too. I don't know if I got it fixed due to changing ROM, using the suggested recovery from the ROM, or if it was due to me restoring my EFS backup.
I flashed the TeamWin recovery found in the PSX instructions. Then I flashed PSX + Latest kernel + Banks Gapps + Banks Google Camera + AT&T NFC fix + SuperSU. I manually restored EFS from an ADB shell while in recovery.
When I booted I had: LTE works, Wifi works, NFC works, Camera works, ART works... The only things failing for me are the following:
Cell provider shows up as "Maritime" (display bug; as mentioned, LTE works fine and I'm on AT&T)
Settings > Developer Tools > Geeky Process Stats (does nothing)
Settings > Lockscreen > Slider Shortcuts (crashes as soon as I tap the middle ring)
LogCat is spammed with "QCOM PowerLock: Failed to acquire lock" whenever my finger is on the screen.
/system/xbin/mount --bind doesn't work (neither does mount -o bind). It gets sorta half-way-there, because the target directory can't be removed, but isn't bound properly it seems.
Other than that, it's been fast and smooth.

Do you have an sd card? Or usb drive with a usb otg connector? If so, (Not sure if cm recovery us close to twrp, but if it is) then you should be able to copy the data folder to one of those and then flash a new Rom and then copy and paste some of the directories. Orr do a nandroid backup if /data, and then flash a new ROM and restore that data backup afterwards. They would have to be the same Rom as you have now though
Sorry it took me so long. Next time quote me so I get a notification

I found this guide on how to flash twrp and root, you shouldn't worry about rooting until you get booted up first... As for the force reboot, I couldn't find out how to force power it off, so try some of the following:
- Take our battery (if there is a removable one)
- Hold down the volume down and power simultaneously for about 10 seconds (maybe less, maybe more)
- If there is a physical home button, try holding volume down, power and home. (Or volume up)
Once powered off (when the screen turns off, you maybe have to be quick before it restarts. If it does just re-power it off and try again) then hold down power and volume up to boot into recovery mode. You shouldn't need twrp if you can boot into cmw. But I do recommend it when we are finished...
You'll also need a custom (or stock) ROM to flash. I'll show you how to push to your phone with adb if mtp doesn't work in cmw.

Alrighty so if you have fill adb drivers than great, if not this should still work fine...
Download this: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298958289
Has adb in it, ignore all the root stuff. So extract the file to your desktop and open the folder. Put your ROM in the folder and name it something easy like rom.zip (important it's not rom.zip.zip)
When in the folder, hold shift and then right click inside the folder and select "open command window here" and then type "adb devices" and make sure something comes up with a ton of random characters. If nothing comes up (make sure phone is plugged in lol) then install your phone's drivers. Then try again. Next type this exactly as follows (if you names it rom.zip)
Code:
"adb push rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip"
**NOTE the space between rom.zip and /sdcard**
This should take awhile, depending on how big the file is. You should see a pulsing dash in the left side of the command prompt. It will stop blinking and bring up a new line when done. Now go into cmw and flash the file in your sd card (rom.zip)
Going to sleep, I'll reply early in the morning before school

Root.bat is for Samsung yes, but adb is universal. We aren't worrying about root
Since you didn't have adb installed this is a lightweight version so you don't have to install it. This is just the file link I had on hand
