Those of you on a Honeycomb ROM - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Which Custom HC rom are you guys liking the most?
fast rom?
themed rom?
what do you like?

Honestly, the best rom is actually the stock one, I tried a rooted HC ROM when I first got my BestBuy Flyer and it just didn't seem that fast or smooth, so I went back to S-ON and installed the stock gingerbread and let the flyer upgrade itself directly to HC. So far, its been running great, fast and I have no issues.
I really don't see the point of rooting a tablet, I root my phones so I can get tether working, but on just a tablet, there is no point to it.

Titanium Backup, Adfree, and ability to remove bloatware are just a few of the reasons to root. There are also tons of mods possible, like changing boot screens and sounds, changing fonts, and other things. But if your intent is to use the phone stock, and not use any apps that require root, then obviously, you don't need root.

Unfortunately HC just kind if sucks. Browsing lags badly and Netflix gets out of sync. Stick worth GB.

Well before I created my own Rom, I used to run Westfire ROM, Flyhoney, and Leedroid. Can't really say I could pick a favorite though

Honeycomb sucks indeed .. I much prefer gingerbread..
Hopefully soon ICS version of HTC .. or a port with ICS Sense 4.0 more advanced

The rooted stock HC and both LeeDroid and Honey Sense work very well. Smooth as butter and the browser integration with desktop Chrome is great. No complaints at all. Such a relief to get away from the awful Big-Assed phone look of GB.

I'm using LeeDroid HC 4.3.0 and GOlauncher HD.
I have NO complaint and I love HC because of notetaking and its smooth. Also, I think HC system bar is convenient with LeeDroid tweak and HoneyBar.
GB is poor because there is no useful notetaking app(well...I hate evernote memo) :b

Yeah, I haven't experience any kind of lag on globatron's HC, LeeDroid, or HoneySense. They are just as snappy as GB, but with tons more pen functionality, and better tablet-specific interface layout. Not sure, but it seems that people who complain about slowdown on HC are on the official OTA update.

Never ota update
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium

I have never experienced any lags or performance issues on HC. In fact, my battery life increased a ton after flashing LeeDroid's ROM plus the de-sense package, plus the Tweaks package. I also had great luck with FlyHoney, Gumby63's ROM, and HoneyPot. I'm overclocked and running VTL Launcher.
I would probably do backflips though if CM9 or an AOSP ROM came available for the Flyer. ;-)
GB had too many limitations for pen use. In HC, the pen works everywhere. And I got rid of all those darn bloat apps!
But each individual wants/needs different things from their Flyer/View.

Every time I installed an HC build or even the new ICS ROM, GPS didn't work worth a damn for offline navigation, its always losing signal and takes forever to get it back. Even with the GPSFIX and apps same results with ICS/HC NO GPS So I am just sticking with Gingerbread till they fix that, I like having a 7" GPS in my car

I put leedroid on and it seemed laggy to me. I think it was constantly trying to access gsm service that doesn't exist. I'm back on a globaltrons rooted s-off stock Rom now and it seriously feels a lot faster than just stock
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using XDA

Originally I went to LeeDroid HC in January, but at the time, it was a bit buggy, so I quickly went to HoneyPot. Since January, HoneyPot has been working so well that I didn't actually bother upgrading/changing the rom (despite the fact that LeeDroid has made many changes). Don't try and fix what's not broken, I guess.
Honeycomb is nice purely for the better Scribe integration for me.
The one big issue for honeycomb is the fact that the GPS is broken over all roms. Frustrating, really...but HTC is to blame for this.

Yeah my flyer is running great to the point I may just keep it as is. Idc about GPS as it works flawlessly on my vivid anyway. I still prefer honeycomb to gb the flyer literally just seems like a gigantic phone with gb

I could be wrong, but I thought the cell radio was in the wifi Flyer for the purpose of assisted GPS... besides the radio's easy enough to turn off (to save the battery), and turn on to use in concert with GPS.

I can neither confirm or deny that statement. I mean it could of just been a bad flash too. Its happened to me with roms before where everything is bad and I reflash the same rom and its all good.

Paul is working on his HC ROM for the Flyer. I've a MCR ROM on my HTC Desire and I think it's very good. As Paul is a recognized Android developer I'll use his ROMs. You can customize it using the online kitchen.
Most other custom ROMs for the Flyer are based on MCR.

My ROM was online 1 day before MCR was, so mine is definitely not based on it.
I would never base my rom on another chefs rom and would not mention it. I hope that the other devs don't do that either.
Just to say it.

Which is the smoothest rom?

Came back from Epic Touch (lost in the mail by the repair site after a brick, the replacement phone they bought for me from ebay has a lost/stolen esn), and I cannot stand little lags here and there.
Has sprint/htc made any improvements at all, like gpu acceleration or sd card optimization since last October? Right now I'm running Chogardjr3D blue rom, and it's night and day compared to the epic touch, where everything is silky smooth and gpu accelerated.
Any recommendations on a smooth rom?

Eternity is hands-down the smoothest UI experience this far on the 3D, MeanROM is probably a bit quicker but definitely bot smoother.

Remember OP, this is a thread asking for opinions and on a smooth ROM. I am going to have to disagree with Joe with how smooth MeanROM is. Your best bet is just to flash different ROMS and see which one you think is the best.
MeanROM has been the smoothest ROM I have used that is sense based with everything working
I have been using CleanROM for the past 6 or so months and it has been great. Always get great battery life and stability with Scott's ROM's.
You will have to play around with things stock builds work well with bloat removed . Oc kernels roms can be fast doesn't help battery life out tho. But its what you prefer and want outta things.

InfectedROM Eternity, nothing else is as fast or smooth. It now comes with the v6 supercharger script so with that on, nothing comes close to speed or smoothness. Even without the script enabled, however, it's still smooth, you'll just have less free RAM without the script

Lol everything is smooth just depends on what the OP has in mind that he wants outta a rom the looks, battery life,stock,stable...
I'm running MikRunny v1.11 right now and I think its pretty smooth.
The first rom I tried was Leedroid which is also very good, but its an optimized and tweaked stock rom.
And I was looking for something newer, an rom which contained atleast Sense 3.5 and had no serious issues.
And well you have many roms and you just can look in the threads that list these roms. Because I came from DHD I already knew what I wanted an stable rom with all phone features working and newer software like sense 3.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458032
These threads are super subjective.
Any launcher that is not android native will typically be "laggy". This can be fixed by increasing scrolling speed and turning off fancy animations.
I can tell you from years of doing this any rom that is a stock rom will be the same, unless they use a different launcher and or mod the animation speed.
Just use them all, use what you think is best. I have an Epic Touch the hardware acceleration on it doesn't make that big of a difference.
You should sometimes ad somethings yourself. Like the oc deamon and controller and there are scripts that improve the performance.

Help deciding on which ROM

Hey,
I've been thinking about rooting and roming my rezound. I was wondering which rom would be recommended at the moment?
I need almost everything to work. And I work 12 hour shifts, so I need decent battery life. I make it through a whole day stock, especially if I turn data off when I'm not using it. I would to maybe try to make it more smooth, faster, and have decent battery life. How stable are sense 4.0 roms? and cm9 based ones? I would just like some recommendations on what to try first. thanks!
I would definitely go with ViperRez . Very stable and good battery life.

Business ICS and vigor 360 have my vote, both are stable and *****BUGLESS*****. Sense 4 roms still have some kinks to be worked on
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Ineffabilis deus 1.2 for sure. I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again. Ive flashed all kinds of ROMs but nothing is as perfect as Chingy's ROMs. Everything that I use works perfectly. Give it a shot.
BTW I'm not trying to say all the other ROMs aren't as good. What I should say is try them all out for yourself. Everyone has different tastes.

I can vouch for ineffabilis deus. The only problems I had was I couldn't get wifi tether to work and some minor glitches with the keyboard not popping up in text inputs on the main browser but using a different browser worked. I may have been the only one with those problems.. but it is a solid sense rom. Plenty of options to choose from when you flash it.
Now on cm9 Le noob and it's really smooth. In calls though the sound is a bit funky.. But everything is faast

We have great devs across the board for the Rezound and each offers something unique and cool for their ROMs. I would say try several and figure out what works best for you. I have used ViperRez, Nils Business Sense, Newt's, Neo's AOKP and NeoMax, Vigor, and Ineffabillis (current). I like them all and find certain aspects of each appeal to me. S-off opens a whole new door of possibilities. Have fun and enjoy the hunt.

I'd vote for either of Nils' ROMs. I'm running his Sense 4 ROM right now and the only bug I've found is that every now and then Facebook authentication fails and I have to log in again. That happens every other week or so. Battery life is really good, but I think all Sense 4 ROMS are pretty good on battery.

I have tried ClearRom4.5 and used it for a while, then I tried ViperRez1.0.3, Newts, and currently I am using Vigor360.
Honestly, if the camera will be stable in the ViperRez1.0.3, I would be still using it. So far, it is the ROM that gave me better battery life compared with others and it is very smooth imo.
I installed Newts and I was astonished with all the things loaded in there. Great ROM. Ubber stable. The camera is fast and didn't see any issues. Everything works in there. My only complain was that compared with other ICS ROMs it seems that it lags a bit for me and the battery drains faster than any other ROM I tried.
Because how stable is this ROM, I tried a couple of Kernels to see if I could get the same smoothness that I got with previous ICS ROMS. No luck!!
I just installed Vigor360 about a week ago and it is great too. Battery consumption is way better than Newts but less better than ViperRez. But the ROM is flawless and smooth. Probably same or better than ViperRez.
Benchmark in Quadrant Standard with all 4 different ROMS (with their original Kernels) gave me the average of:
- CleanRom4.5 **3100
- ViperRez 1.0.3 ** 3600
- Newts ** 2900
- Vigor360 **3100
Now, if we can have an ICS ROM that is stable as Newts, with the battery life of ViperRez and the smoothness of Vigor360, then we will have a winner.
If you don't need Sense, try Miui. The UI is very clean and smooth.
+1 for ViperRez. Stable, fast, and great battery life. Been using it since the end of July, & haven't looked back. Sense 4 is awesome. Now using it with DSB's kernel, which also works great. Camera and camcorder both working fine. Only "issue", if you want to call it that, is the data arrows not working, but you will see that with any of the Sense 4 ROMs, and to me, it is a non-issue. Awesome.
Oh, also, the Kindle app force closes, which has been reported, but again, no big deal to me, because I have my Nexus 7 for that, LOL.
Good luck, and enjoy.

Thank ya'll for all the replies. I'm kind of afraid to do the s-off thing right now, so i'm sticking with just unlocking and roming. So far the only one I've tried is Neo's Rage1.2 and its pretty awesome. When the screen is off it barely has battery drain at all. I'm interested in trying viperrez, but I think i read that he is about to release an update soon so I'll probably wait until it comes out. But an example of the battery life of rage1.2: I have the standard battery, its been off charge for 16h 47 min, with 1h 1 min screen on time and i'm sitting at 37% battery. Granted a lot of that time was with data off when i wasn't using it, but when I had the screen on data was on. Just figured I would throw that out there for anyone interested.
You've just got to try the ROMs man. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but there are one thousand threads about "best" ROMS, and each is equally useless. Your device, tastes, and desires are going to determine which ROMS are most successful for your setup. I can almost guarantee that if you flash ANY rom in the development thread that it's going to be great. Just a heads up, it's best to refrain from discussing "best" ROMS. It just pisses devs off.

I hope that it didn't offend anyone. I was just wondering what people that are using the ROMS thought about which one would be good for me based on what I was needing. Because I know some ROMS will be great, but not have as great of battery life as another ROM that is just as awesome. I like getting suggestions, and seeing what people like about which ROM. I will keep what you said in mind, and I really appreciate you letting me know that.

[Q] Giving up on ICS

Was gonna wait for the official ICS update for the thunderbolt but after 4months and numerous rumors not panning out im going to root and flash a rom any suggestions for the best daily driver ????
But browsing and reading up a little but still confused on whats available??? Would love to try jelly bean but i can settle for ICS
Battery life, speed and stability are the important points for a daily driver
Whats you suggestions????
I know I'm gonna regret it as soon as i root and flash the official update will probably come out but i remember when i first rooted my OG droid I never went back so what you guys suggest??? also next upgrade will probably be taking the nexus 4 to straight talk but wanna get a few more months out of my Thunderbolt u would think HTC would want to keep the customers that run out and bought the first 4G device but i guess all they really care about is our money.

If you're looking for an ICS build there really is no amazing one yet, but Liquid's is the best you will find with Nusense a close second. My personal recommendation for a daily driver though is Thundershed, or any of the roms from reds. I am running ikream nosense and enjoy it a bit. There is also the sense based offering of it both are pretty nice. Depending on what rom you go with there are kernels and things like that to pick up from there.
If you want something bug free i recommend Skyraider zeus 1.3. Thats what im using with the lean kernel. Its very smooth. Plus there is a sweet ics theme for it. Throw in halo launcher aswell and you pretty much have the complete look and feel of ics and bug free. Everything works perfect on this rom

Proving again that all Thunderbolts are different, don't know why, but each responds differently to different ROMS.
To the OP, remember! Flashing is cheap, don't hesitate to try several ROMs before deciding on one you like.
I lean toward the NuSense but battery life isn't quite what I need... <sigh>
Another hearty recommendation for SkyRaider 1.3.
I've been evaluating lots of other ROMs and radio combos. Nothing has been as solid a daily driver as SkyRaider Zeus.
I'm really working at using Twisted's AOKP ICS, but my Bolt doesn't love it. I keep getting data hangs, and have to reset the radios via Airplane mode off/on.
And the leaked Sense ICS was way too battery hungry for me.

If you really want a solid ROM with everything working great, Sky Raider is excellent. Especially since I like having a good camera and video camera. Nice to have everything work perfectly. I love AOSP, it is very fast, but you don't get the same functionality (dont get me wrong it is very close, but small things like camera are just not quite as good) you do with Sense. I hate sense but skyraider really is a great ROM

So can anyone give me a rundown on the differences on these ROM's? I've seen Liquid 3.2, Thundershed, and Skyraider mentioned here. Which are Sense based and which are AOSP. Are the Sense based Rom's laggy? I've tried NuSense, and it was a nice ROM, but just too laggy for my taste. I've tried Jesters and Twisted's 11-7 version of Liquids ICS ROM, and they've been great, but I'm having too many bluetooth issues which will interfere with work so it's a no go if I can't simply turn on the bluetooth and let it connect.
I understand flashing is supposed to be quick and easy so just try them all, but it seems to take me several hours to get everything backed up, flashed, and put back the way I like it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have only used LiquidSmooth 3.2. It is a Gingerbread AOSP. Any Sense ROM tends to be very laggy on either of my Thunderbolts. And all of the ICS ROM's seem to have at least one problem or another that keeps it from being my daily driver(bluetooth, wifi, camera or camcorder especially!)
It all depends on what you can and can't live without on a DD. Most of the Gingerbread ROMS's shouldn't have many, if any, issues. Some may be slightly slower than others and look different but all should make a good DD. The current ICS ROM's for the mecha are extremely fast, but usually lack in the camcorder or wifi department.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1905083 has most of the ROM's linked(except LiquidSmooth3.2 Not sure why all the links to it were removed, Liquid is the Man tho and gotta respect his decision)

I found basically all sense roms to be laggy except for Skyraider. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Best Evo View HC ROM?

I'm looking for a Honeycomb ROM with normal battery life (Jelly Bean drains 30% per day even without using), rooted, and if possible bloatware / de-sensed.
I'm looking through the threads but there's a lot of broken links and everything's just really old anyway.
Is there a ROM like this available? Not just on this site, but perhaps hosted elsewhere too?
Man this place is dead. The AOKP Roms have pretty good battery. But I love HTC sense so I just deal with the battery.

I normally don't believe in "best ROM" threads, as there is no such thing. The best ROM depends on your personal needs and expectations. But I also understand this forum is dead, and seeking some current opinion is somewhat justified.
I've been using CleanROM for a while now. Scrosler makes great ROMs. As the name implies, its just a cleaned up version of stock HC, with some performance enhancements, and not too many mods.
I was using Honeysense HC for a long time before that. But it was starting to lag really bad over time. Even a full wipe and re-flash didn't help matters. Not sure if it was the ROM per se, or something else. But the lag is what prompted me to move to CleanROM. Honeysense had some good battery life and features, and worth a try.
Tried LeeDroid as well. Think many people were on it, and it too has some nice mods and features. But the app drawer was way too crowded for me. Think the dev was going to put out a flashable mod for less crowded app drawer layouts, but it never happened.
There are other ROMs of course. And they may well be awesome. But I just never got around to trying them.
Hi,
I'm currently using cleanrom HC. Sense minus some of the stock apps and with a small amount of refinement.
I'm quite pleased with it. Very stable.
I'd like to see JB on the Flyer though, if they can get the front facing camera to work.

I'm not finding CleanROM.
Is it a Flyer-only ROM?
If you go to the list of Roms and follow the link for the stock HC Rom, you'll find it there.

Is it this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549551
Because that's clearly a Flyer ROM. Will it work on the Evo View 4G?
