[Q] Custom rom that can be flashed with fw 58 on lww? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Is there any .62 rom that can be flashed with stock fw .58?i rooted my lww and now i cant update it ota...please help me

any help?

Use PC companion or the sony Update service to update to 62...OTA with unlocked bootloader is not quite stable...
For SE Update Service : http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
And you can use any custom rom with 58 rooted nd with CWM....no problem at all...

Well is your bootloader unlocked? If it is, just install any custom kernel that's root enabled and download and install a .62 ROM.
If your bootloader isn't unlocked, you shouldn't really be having any problems with OTA updating.

Thank you for your answer but I didn't unlock my bootloader and I just want to know is there any .62 rom that can be flashed with baseband 58

i am just confused with your question.
the title states "Custom rom that can be flashed with fw 58 on lww?"
then your question states:

if OTA does not work on your rooted .58,
you could try flashing another .58 firmware on your phone
for more information check out this thread and this one also.

i think what he ment was: is there a rom that doesn't required an unlock bootloader and based on fw58 or 62.
I been looking for the same but all the custom rooms required a custom kernel which almost mean an unlocked bootloader

@melander offtopic sorry! how is hybrom v16 and xkernel 4 working for you?

why you not update your FW to 62?
if your bootloader still locked, i think updating the phone via PCC or Update service is no problem even your phone already rooted
sorry for my bad english

its stable and has a good battery life,

Rooting your phone will not cause any problems with OTA updates to .62, you'll even get to keep root access.
Unlocking the bootloader *does* cause problems with OTA updates.
If all you did was root the phone and not unlock the bootloader it's safe to use OTA. It's what I did do get root on .62 since it was what my phone had when I bought it. Downgraded it to .42 (though .58 also works I couldn't find the ftf for it), root with zergrush and then update back to .62 using OTA. Went like a charm with zero issues.
Hope this helps!

If you have stock kernel, just relock the bootloader. Making update directly from phone with unlocked bootloader causes brick indeed.
First relock the bootloader, then make update directly from the phone(3G or WiFi) to .62.
Relocking is written in my tutorial, check there if you need help how to do it.
If I relock bootloader, the process perform a wipe same as when I unlock via Sony Official Method ?
I want relock my bootloader, but with no wipe =D
(using stock kernel and stock .58FW)
Dont forget that wipe is best thing what you can do before upgrade to ics

I have Rage Kernel installed, so now what to do?
Or shall i flash a custom rom?
and one more thing, if i install custom rom then would i be able to upgrade to ics easily?

Your question is already answered, on the ICS stuff. Reload original firmware just to be sure prior update, always perform clean wipe when shifting ROMS so as to avoid un-pleasant experience and make most of it.

4.1.b.0.587 update on ROOTED ICS ?

HI to all,
Sorry I am a noob here.
I have rooted my live with walkman ICS 4.0 by downgrading then rooting then upgrading it as seen on one of the popular XDA forums.
Currently my version is 4.1.b.0.431 and now I have got the update notification on my phone for version 4.1.b.0.587.
If I do this update then will I lose my root(superuser rights) or not?
Yes, at least if you are updating with SEUS.
Root access is easily regained, e.g. if you have unlocked your bootloader and follow the instructions which comes along with the usage of recoveryARC.img by Team FreeXperia.
SEUS?
ok thanks for ur support. But I have few more questions..
My bootloader is not unlocked and The notification comes in the handset itself
in the application "Update center" and this is according to me OTA update.
Is this same what you call SEUS ??
So if I update not via "sony pc companion" but via this update centre through phone itself then also I lose the superuser rights??
You will have to re-root your phone after update.
It can be done easily following this tutorial: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
It doesn't have any major changes but fixes some annoying lag on the phone dialer.
It also doesn't have flash player anymore so make sure you backup flash player and install it manually after.
hey thanks for helping me with this.
I already did the same procedure as shown but instead of flashing with 0.587 version I used 0.431.
Now my fone update centre shows 0.587 version available and it can be updated OTA(15.7mb).So my main question is if i now use this update centre to update my version instead of flashtool, will i lose my root access?
Yes, unfortunately. However, regain root access by the many tutorials seen on this board. If not, I am sure there are already people out there who has uploaded pre-rooted .587 images.
In the long run, if you are thinking of digging deeper into modding/hacking/development/whatever, I would advice you to unlock your bootloader if this is not already done. This will also be helpful if you want to make an nandroid backup of all your current content.
There is an official Sony (Ericsson) procedure at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com, but I recommend you to use the s1tool + testpoint procedure if you want to keep the DRM keys intact. The testpoint differs from the Xperia 2011 models, so you have to search for your specific model. As far as I know, the Arc S (LT18) is excluded to this method.

In not 100% sure what version you are now on but this link is awesome: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
All you have to do is flash with a rootable kernel, root and then flash back to the latest 0.587 kernel and you are rooted to the latest.
There is no need to downgrade the entire software just flash to a rootable kernel.
I hope this makes sense? But follow that link, it worked well for me.
hey thanx dude for all your support !!!!
Now the things are clear !!!
thanks once again !!!!:good:

CMIIW, but we can't flash new kernel on a locked bootloader, can't we?
I tried this method on my 431 ICS and it didn't work. Same as "tany" did, I had to downgrade to GB first to gain root access.
But unfortunately, I just lost my root access after updating to 587 with SEUS.

Now what i think is that we have to follow same steps for rooting (downgrading rooting and then upgrading)
but instead of flashing with 0.431 flash with .587 rom ftf file. this is the only way for a phone with locked bootloader :silly:

Yep, it is the only way. I just regain my root access on 587 ICS by the same method.
And it's safe

bootloader unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with flashing through PCC. just connect and if it says update do it...... u will only get problem if u flashed a custom rom.... if u flash custom u wont get update via PCC.... wait for a .tft file of ics...... i bet some one will eventually post it( and hopefullyearlier than the default PCC of ur region ).... then just flash it via flash tool..... if u find a .tft of ics sola the follow only the first step of this link

With an unlocked bootloader you cant update via pcc. You can either relock your phones bootloader and flash a stock rom or wait for someone to upload a ftf and flash it via flashtool

Looking for pre-rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hey.
So I'm looking for a pre-rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62 kernel for my Ray. Where can I find it?

Prerooted kernel? You mean the rom prerooted or a prerooted kernel?
If your bootloader is unlocked, flash a custom kernel for gingerbread like rage kernel, if it's locked you need to downgrade to root
I'm looking for the pre-rooted kernel only. I rooted my phone using the downgrade method, but it didn't turn out so well, also, I wasn't able to find any .42 specific to my location/released by my carrier, and it affected my signal strength.

There won't be a prerooted kernel, only if your bootloader is unlocked, then you can flash a prerooted kernel for gingerbread.
If it's locked, you could try to flash .42 kernel only and root on it. Afterwards flash .62 kernel again
So, mine is locked. Can I flash the kernel alone through Flashtool? Wouldn't that soft brick my device? Quote from this thread.
After flashing restart your device, It may not start completely, may remain at Sony logo or blank/black.
Whatever the status is, just restart your device and proceed with the next step.

If I'm not able to start the phone, how am I going to be able tor root it? The zorgRush exploit needs a working ROM.

It shouldn't brick your device and I think you should be able to root it when it's in a bootloop, otherwise they won't write it in a tutorial. With doomlord's toolkit or with flashtool it should work :good:
The trick didn't work. I wasn't able to root after downgrading the firmware. Maybe it only works with ICS. Anyway I'll just live with the bloatware for now.
Thanks
Thread moved. All questions belong here in Q&A.
Thanks

4.0.2.A.0.42 can be rooted with the GB rooting kit. It is here on the forum, Search for it.
After that you can do OTA update to 4.0.2.A.0.62, if your bootloader is locked.

[Request[: Rooted .62 LWW (or ALL MDPI) Rom

Hi,
I recently tried to root .62 LWW stock rom.
My unsuccessful attempts are recorded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068238
Again today i tried to do it 2 times. Once with Flashtools and other time with SEUS (though it says i have the latest version on .58!).
I have unlocked BL so doing OTA on .58 rooted version = stops my device from turning on.
So i am just requesting whether someone could upload a rooted .62 stock rom for LWW version? IAlso i have tried rooting on my own using Knight45's article but it failed to boot :/
So now my only option is to get a .62 rooted rom and tweak it slowly on my own
It would be much appreciated for your support in this = )
Thank you

Hi,
Little confused as this hasn't been mentioned before.
Are you saying, for me to get root on .62, all i have to do is:
Flash a stockof .62 rom to my LWW
Flash a custom Kernel i.e. rage kernal 3.0 or x-kernal?
and i shall have root?
And also, yes i have unlocked bootloader.
Custom kernal i was looking to use (will most likely use rage kernal):

Yep, Just Flash a Custom Kernel if you have Unlocked Bootloader and you will get root
