Wow this is a whole bunch of characters that I am sure the majority or XDA members cannot read...
Thanks though.
EDIT:
The Google translate of the first sentence is kinda funny
Thank you for purchasing the ASUS Extreme deformation of the tablet TF201, and make it become the most popular Android system since its launch in December 2011, the Tablet PC.

Lol I'm gonna call my tablet the Asus Deformer Extreme now.

How do you guys tell how many satellites are "locked in"

Whats the app?
Gps test
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Try "GPS test" on the market.
Whats the # to look for, in view or in use? What would be considered "locked in"
GPS Status from the market is another option.
If you want to check your wifi signal try the wifi analyzer app
I believe you need a fix on at least 3 to 4 satellites to get a lock. I am seeing any where from 6 to 9 sat's with a fix on 5 or 6. SNR is pretty low though compared to my phone for the same sat's in the same location.

Couldnt tell you... tried it with 5 primes since Jan 6 and still no satellite locks.
I have 9 in use inside my house!

My Droid 3 has almost 20 sat's and the prime has none, after the update.

Would a house be more likely to get locks or see satellites indoors than in a 4-5 story brick apartment building with several other buildings around also?
I need to stop b.s.n. n take my tablet outside one of these days n do a real test. I usually never have the patience to wait for a lock.
My gps doesn't work at all.

My new prime has never shown one satellite whether inside or outside. Never! Kinda frustrating for me that others can get something and i never have.

Before update locked on within 15 sec no wifi with at least 9 in use and can see as much as 15 indoors or out and while driving. After update. First day no sign of sats. 2nd day back in buisness! Got my sats back not sure if update made a difference maybe stronger signals this time around.

GPS transformer Prime TF201 -Very important-

Hi all,
Sorry if i am double-posting, but due to XDA policy and, as far as I am a "newbie" on XDA forum I am not able to answer posts...
But I think I found something very important related to GPS with ASUS Transformer Prime TF 201.
As a lot of folks I was grumbling with this bull**** GPS which hardly saw 1 sat and was not even able to lock to no one. I was using "GPS TEST" to test mine with the results I already told.
By curiosity I decided to try another GPS tester and downloaded "GPS Status" and what a miracle I had suddenly 4,7,9,...13 sats and locked with 5 at least...
So all of you who don't see sats on your Prime try to change your GPS tester...
Just an idea.
No offense to you as your suggestion is appreciated but this issue has been investigated by both ASUS and Prime owners and was determined to be a hardware issue, hence the GPS Extension kit that will ship out to registered owners in the next few weeks.
have tried both - still no satellites on the scene... relying fully on wifi triangulations which works okay within city..

Search the forums for GPS registration and you'll find it.
Re: the difference between app lock-ons, they're been discussed thoroughly. Search for aGPS, GPS, and the two app names and you'll find a pile of threads about it.

Update .21 is the latest update (although another is right around the corner) and the one you need. I don't have mine yet, so I'm not too sure, but as soon as you connect it and slide the locking mechanism over then it's connected. You have to turn your GPS on under your settings and it should be using the dongle. Have a walk outside, put it on and slide the lock, turn your GPS on and run GPS Test or something similar. Remove dongle and test again, you should see a huge decrease in performance if it performs without the dongle at all.
to be honest i have never seen any problem with the gps, i know its not really a great benchmark but seems just as good as my galaxy s.
i will run the tests with and without but didnt seem any quicker to lock when i popped outside a while ago. wasnt sure it was actually working which is why i posted this. wondered if it showed up anywhere similar to when the dock is in place.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
.22 is the latest update. It was forced so you wouldn't have seen it happen. Being rooted doesn't stop updates. I am rooted and it updated itself days ago. It contained the fixes for the dongle to work. For those who are unlocked, you have to wait for your ROM writer to add the code. Gary has said that ASUS are looking to release a version of NVFlash for those who are unlocked.

Really? I suppose you're one of the rare few who has relatively decent GPS reception somehow. Good for you lol, I hate you
I suppose the only way to really be sure is to disconnect the internal GPS from its antenna and then use the dongle. Surely there would be a way for the system to realize the dongle is inserted and to let the end-user know about it. I mean, they tell us to type words with the keyboard, I just can't believe they're not telling us we've plugged the dongle in. I wonder if some kind of Tasker profile couldn't differentiate between it and the dock, I doubt it?

Um, what? .22? What country and are you sure you don't mean .21? I keep my Prime's WiFi on 24/7 and my DMClient unfrozen, just manually checked and no update.
i am unlocked not rooted so i cant get anymore updates from asus. am on the latest .21 . updated before my prime was so kindly unlocked.

Any good?
Does the dongle make a marked difference in reception?
none at all as far as i can see.
could be
1. not working / user error
2. my prime gps was working ok to start with.
hoping there is someway to get feedback from the prime to let me know its using the dongle

I have the dongle
It definitely helps my gps but it dose look bad.
Maybe a company may start making skins for the dongle to make them more attractive and protected. Exposed dongles isn't good. It' not immuned to bumps and bruises.

My bad. Typo on my part. Of course it is .21!!
i think the dongle is well designed. locks in place and fairly discreet considering. could have been an ugly block like a usb stick or the camera add on thingy for the ipod.
i found it makes a nice handle when reading a book

I'll pull out my inner demandarin real quick to say do not apply direct pressure to the dongle - don't use it as an actual handle!
That being said, IMO it would be OK so long as you have larger hands and are pretty careful about it, just don't go trying to support your entire tablet with it. Don't support the tablet at all with it actually, seriously, going to feel terrible if you accidentally crack your screen lol
well didnt actually mean just the dongle. just adds a bit of a ridge to stop and slippage while holding

NOVA 3 - Now compatible with TF300T

Check it out now. Gameloft giving love.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5nYW1lbG9mdC5hbmRyb2lkLkFOTVAuR2xvZnROM0hNIl0.
All the disappointment I initially had with available apps for the TF300T have faded away.

Awesome! Is it compatible with a mouse?
just bought it, then dowloaded about 85% of the 1.7 gig download over wifi, had to leave so I turned on my mifi but my tab dropped the signal and now I have to start over once I get home again :/ the internet is a wonderful thing, it also simultaneously sucks in many ways.

No, it has very impressive draw distance (you can see things far away) but its not on par with the Tegra 3 games. If Gameloft doesnt start making their games using the unity engine they'll be left behind.....

Anybody notice the game is now totally screwy after the update yesterday? I just checked out the comments in Google Play and noticed this does not just apply our device. Not sure what Gameloft was thinking? If anybody has a fix for this that does not lose your progress in the game, please share.

Thanks, just downloaded it, let's see how it works....
I tried it again and it's still low frame rate on my tf300t with stock JB rooted.
All of the menus have been fixed, back to how it was before. Seems a bit smoother, but no huge difference.

WTH.... another update this morning?!.... no, let me reprase that: another update that asks me to download 1.7 GB of data this morning?! What the heck is up with Gameloft? First off this game is barely playable on a Tegra 3 tablet, and then their ridiculous updates are serious bandwidth killers.
The game was downloading on the first install page every time I opened it! Works almost flawlessly in my gs3, so it's definitely a device specific issue. I am also getting frustrated eating up my data allowance on this.
Edit: I don't see any update today??

So you do think that a custom ROM can boost its performance even more, especially in the gaming category?
The only games I played on my Prime are Broken Sword 1 & 2 and Machinarium, so unfortunately I can't tell you anything about the performance increase in this department. What I can confirm is that the browsing and overall menu responsiveness have vastly improved by installing AW.

oh ok cool,i actually rarely game on my tablet but its just to see how the tablet performs what i mostly do is probably browsing/youtube and lots of multitasking between apps.
So that's what what they are supposed to perform like! Mine is laggy by comparison, and until I saw this, I didn't think it was that bad!
