Hi,
I have a Gen 9 250GB which I really enjoy as a car media player.. however MP3 Playback is a complete nightmare as all the popular mp3 players with the functions I want stutter & skip due to the hard drive constantly spinning down.. is there a workaround for this at all? I don't mind rooting if necessary as it is really becoming useless to me now...
Many Thanks

Hi all,
I just bought a archos 70 250gb and i bought it with the idea to have a backup of my music and pictures. But now i have about 24.000 media (pictures, music and some videos) files and the scanner is having a really hard time finishing the process and mostly seem to fail.
Is there a way to monitor where it goes wrong?
Is there a limit for the amount of files the library is able to scan?
Is there any other way to finish this process?
Now i can only play my files by a folder player (now using poweramp) and i can't watch all of the pictures because it fails on scanning them.
Now it's kind of useless to have 250gb if it doesn't work properly.
Are there other people that have the same issues, and might have a solution ?
Thanks in advance!
(i have searched, but couldn't find anything similar)
Received an answer from Archos:
Dear Customer,
The android operating system used by your Archos limits the number of files indexed, because of this limit some files like music, videos or pictures will not be added to the media library of the device and will not be visible when you browse the media library by Artist, songs, albums etc..
You can access to the files not indexed by using the file browser of the device, or by the “storage” item of the audio player (or video player).
This limit can’t be increased
Kind Regards,

So seems there is now way to solve it...
Does anyone know an android music player that builds its own library?
I know poweramp is trying to release one in april, but i would like one now since i want a good working device..
Mixergy does not build its own library, but you can point it to one or more folders and have it play those.

What error show up??
I have over 80GB Music putted into my Archos 70 250GB too, also have 30~40 videos in it.
First time I need to download '.nomedia tools' from Market, than tick all non media folder to apply .nomedia, then do a media scan again and let it run overnight, its done!
This has been covered before:

.. but to be honest, that won't help you a lot unless you've got # symbols in your files.
I eventually managed to get all my music files scanned, so I think the 20000 limit is not quite as set in stone as they say. However, it took a couple of weeks of solid effort and some coding on my part (feeding music files one by one into the media scanner and leaving it running overnight several times, and over one whole weekend) - not something I can easily give to anyone else, and something I'd hate to replicate if I ever had to clear my media library.
Hi, Android n00b here. Looking at getting an Android tab -- wife has an iPad, I have an iPhone, but I am sick of the iOS walled garden.
A major thing that I want to use my tablet for is playing videos out to a projector, for shows that I do. It's important to me to be able to do these 2 things:
1. Play a playlist of videos in order, without further prompting once it starts.
2. Transition between videos cleanly and seamlessly -- no player controls or tablet home screen visible, even for a second. Nothing but black in between vids.
I've already got my mind pretty much made up about which tablet I'm getting... but I'm not ready to buy until I know there are apps that can meet those 2 requirements.
I've been told that the Dice, MX, and Mobo players will NOT do both of the things I'm looking for. I've gotten reports that Act1 can use playlists... but I haven't been able to find out anything about what the transitions between videos on a playlist look like.
Can anyone recommend a video player that has playlists, and transitions cleanly between videos?
UPDATE: I am hearing elsewhere that the Act 1 player may do everything I want. Haven't had a chance to try it out (since I don't have an Android device yet).
Thanks for the information.
What is it with Android media players that the majority of them (if not all) don't have the ability to outright stop media from playing, even if you close the application. The only thing you'll see in media players is a "pause" button, but I'd like the ability to say "OK, I'm done here, I'd like to close this out and **EXIT** the player, unloading any media I have playing (or paused) and closing out the files. If I close a media player on Linux, Windows, etc. it will stop playing: I'd like to find a media player for Android that behaves the same way.
The widespread inability to outright stop media playback implies to me that it's an inherent flaw in Android. I don't know if iOS has the same problem, I don't use those (I expect on a Surface Tablet, yo simply have to wait a few minutes until the system crashes )
I have a problem with music streaming through Wimp or Qobuz - everything what is streamed through those has a micro stutterings every few seconds. Same on normal or flac quality setting. You can even download those files, go offline and it will still be the same. It is not like skipping what we know from CDs and portable players, it is something smaller and less noticable, but still noticable. You can compare it with moving a little 3.5mm jack when it's not right connected in place, but it is happening aswell on phone speakers. Streaming on PC is perfect thou.
Can someone please check how it works by you guys? I'm mostly interested in stock roms 4.3/4.4, becouse I think it can be kernel/rom issue. I have now Carbon KitKat - Togari with pimped kernel, didn't stream before so I can't tell where lies the problem. Big Thanks for help, as it is kinda important for me to fix this issue and be able to enjoy streamed (lossless) music.
edit. I think it has something to do with phone false decoding the stream and polluting the output files...
Hi,
not sure if this is the right forum but I figured I'll try here.
I recently purchased a two pack android portable dvd player tablet (DDAUTO DDA10D). It runs android 6.0 has HDMI out but not in. I would like my kids to be able to watch the same DVD and It does support screen casting and that works great if you play stuff over wifi, however...as soon as you enter a dvd or open the dvd player app it just turns off casting saying "disconnect screen from casting". The manufacturer does say this is not a supported feature but I was just wondering why? The DVDPlayer app (com.hcn.dvdplayer) must have something build in that stops casting when it launches. Is there any way to overwrite that or is there any other dvd player app I could install that has access to the internal dvd drive? I have not found one yet as they all assume it's just video files on internal storage. I've also installed multiple other screen casting apps with the exact same result. Somehow there must be a way to continue casting when a dvd plays as there are external dvd players from LG or Samsung that can cast to a tv if wanted and it does have build in DRM support so I don't know why this player would prevent that. Or could there be an additional app/feature installed that watches for the dvd player to launch and interrupts casting because of some Chinese copyright fears?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
That's weird. I have been using it since last summer, still no problems, everything works fine. I think it is a perfect little entertainment center for kids! Very easy to set up and use. I have spent a long time searching for a portable dvd player that supports both touch screen and HDMI function, so I can play movies and music on my phone for my kids while traveling.
