Im have been attempting every root method available. Is there anyone that has an idea around rooting this device with latest firmware. I was thing of we develop a boot from sdcard method or use a /data partition method.
Unless a newer version of superoneclick will do the job. Current .versions gives out permission denied errors(unable to remount rw)
I want to help the enlighten community with a custom rom but a restore method or root method is first priority.

OK. So, with the MASSIVE assistance of djrbliss. ZV5 has ROOT!
The work is based on the Poot exploit, and does work. Do a google search for Root Optimus Elite with Poot and you will find the information to get r dun.
I don't have a ton of time right now, but I'm willing to do some research and attempt (key word here, attempt) to follow the great djrbliss's work and re-root the device and write a script to do it. BUT!! I'm in the middle of moving across the country, so PLEASE don't ask me to get it done tomorrow.
I will do what I can to help. PM me, and please be patient. I will help in any way I can.
Thanks everyone....Don't give up. Just know it's possible on ZV5, it's not un-breakable.

All,
We need a developer that can root the Vizio tablet. We are willing to pitch in a send a new tablet to whomever agrees to root it for us upon recieving it. The only prerequisite is that the developer have a proven track record of rooting phones/tablets.
Agreed. this tab has been rooted in the past, and has an unlocked bootloader. the only reason gingerbreak doesnt work is because of the /mnt/sdcard/external mounting for the actual external sd. need to change gingerbreak to compensate for this
I am going crazy over the fact that this tablet gets no attention from the dev's and no forum. There are less qualified tablets getting support on here. I absolutely love this tablet. It is a great device for only $200. Just wish it would get some attention.
so if i root it i keep it? yes give it to me i can !

this is how you root the vizio. download superoneclick v2.2
and download dormlords v2 root. in both downloads open the exploits file in exploits take out superoneclicks zerge bush file its v2 wont work swap with the zergebush file from dormlords its v3 hit root bam your rooted .just swap the zergbush files. then hit root thats it
we need root for .57 update now. im willing to throw 20 towards the purchase of a tablet for a dev thats willing to step up.

If you are brave enough (willing to continue), then do so. Different devices may require different methods of rooting (so you'll just have to see which one works for you).
Thanks ,
Its just I'm a bit new to the android scene and hesitant about trying too many things with them...

Don't do anything you don't feel comfortable with. Make sure you read first and know exactly what you are doing (including all the risks).

No. It just depends on your device (and firmware version). These are just the most common ways which don't have to be device specific (only one device can use that method).
You could try using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765.

See here: http://android.appstorm.net/how-to/...-back-up-your-android-device-without-rooting/. Unfortunately, you cannot backup your system without first rooting your device (only possible on some devices).
hey all, i understand that there have been heaps of other rooting threads for the L9, but all of them i have come to no success... Honestly it is getting extremely annoying so i'd like some help here to try and get my phone rooted once and for all... For starters is an Australian L9 if that means anything. Software android 4.0.4 kernal 3.0.21 and software version P768f10e-AUS-XX. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've made another post and that didnt get any responses, so i hope that this one will prevail a little bit more successful. Thanks in advance, your fellow android user.

The first thing to learn before root your phone is flash KDZ in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344.
After you understand how to flash KDZ and successfully flash LG stock P768f v10e on your phone, you can root you phone with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
The hard part is hex edit .bin file. If you understand how to edit it other steps just run script and replace edited file while KDZ tool flash .bin to your phone.
If your phone isn't root after doing all steps, it may happen from a little mistake in some step. Lelus' root method also work on new ROM update (V20?) so if you understand it you can root P768f JB rom that will come in our next update.

I see. For now, there is no one click solution for rooting L9. If You want to root your phone you must follow those guide and if you don't understand some steps you can ask in the forum. In most case you will not brick your phone just because you flashing KDZ.

The guide may seem intimidating at first due to it's length, but once you get a general idea of what you are doing it is actually pretty simple.
If it helps I will try to explain it in layman terms so you can get a better idea of what is happening:
As far as I know, the Australian P768F still has ICS, so you will be using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
What's Happening (General Idea; Doesn't include the small details of setting it up):
Essentially what you are doing is tricking the LG Update Tool to 'update' your phone. Instead of the LG Update Tool connecting to a LG server and applying an update , we create a 'small server' on our computer so we can instead redirect the Update tool to install files that we have on our computer (which you will download as you follow the guide).
In the actual installation process, the LG Update tool will apply the KDZ (think of it as the phone's OS I guess) and then install some files. At some point in the process, you will also see the Update tool install some bin files that are numbered. It is here that we will replace one of the bin files with a 'modified' bin file that allows us root access.
Note: Since I can't seem to find an edited bin file (why we need this is explained above) for the P768F, you will have to create your own following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38750385&postcount=47
Cheers for all your help guys, ill either give it a go or wait till one click comes out. Also the Australian S3 currently has a one click, correct? ill probably root my brothers for him.

if u go through the guide with interest, you will actually find it easy.
Ok, well i am relevantly new to this rooting method for the android devices; so after reading through threads on rooting i have read sections on unlocking bootloader, roms, kernels and stuff and my question is. Will i be able to root my phone without unlocking it just so i can access applications that need root to run? i have no plans in adding or using custom roms on my phone and was wondering will i still be able to update my phone though the official updates? cause i have read from some threads and posts that you will not be able to update it and was wondering is it mandatory for me to unlock the bootloader while rooting....... thanks in advance for the answer and help
No. Root can be obtained only after unlockong.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
hmm ok so i will need to bootload before rooting ha..... fine so how do i do the updates through roms.... if so where can i find them and are there any threads that shows how to use them.
I would recommend you not worry about how to flash ROMs quite yet. Once you obtain root, which isn't really hard, flashing ROMs will seem easy as pie. And to flash ROMs you need to flash a kernel, which is easily done with the rooting tool posted in the development section. Good luck.
dude could you tell like tell me how to root this device, cause i have been trying to root it for a while now and cant seem to do it..... i am following this thread to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39744013#post39744013....... and i cant pass through the "adb device" section as my device is not being detected and yes all my drives are upto date... so would be greatly appreciated if i could get some help.

At which step are you stuck? I will be glad to help you, you should have posted right in the thread.
I haven't gone through the mentioned guide above, and it might be all good, but I've followed this one instead when I first got my HOX+ (now I can do it blindfolded) and it was easy to follow and worked like a charm. Give it a shot.
Just an FYI (so you don't call us liars in the future when you switch devices), but not all root hacks require the bootloader to be unlocked, it depends on the device.
I just bought my LG Volt 2 a month ago, and I'm ready to make it MINE! Unfortunately, I think this phone is too new, because I can't find anything helpful on how to root it. I tried "kingroot" and after it did a few things, it said I was successfully rooted. BUT, when I started up "SuperSU" it says it has to download some things, and its never successful and informs me to restart my phone and to press the restart tab. When I press the restart tab, it says "attempting to restart phone" but it can't. I'm on the 5.1.1 operating system, and using an LG Volt 2 (LGLS751). Is there any advise out there that someone can offer me? Am I REALLY rooted? Has anyone successfully rooted this phone yet? If so please tell me where I can find the steps. I have faith that my XDA community will pull through. Thanks everyone!

not sure if you are still having issues but I use Kingroot for mine.

Considering this is an open community, why not just post your method for finding root here like everyone else does. Then we can verify your method through duplication. We can also test your methods using different firmware versions, different scenarios (such as from stock, from partially rooted by one-click methods, from bricked, etc.).
I myself just acquired an LS751. No battery, but that is an easy fix. No FRP, so that will not be an issue. I know the person who originally owned it anyways. This phone has great potential. Please share your method so we may all benefit. We will definitely give you the full credit if your method can be verified or refined to a validated method.
I know I am quiet guys, but I have been around for a very long time in these forums. I remember when I fumbled my way into getting a Motorola Atrix 2 ROM to work on an original Motorola Atrix. I wish now I had published my methods and dealings, for the collaboration of developers in these forums brings about the greatness we see in Dirty Unicorns (Which was the ROM I used, I believe it was AOKP at the time though), Paranoid Android, etc. My experimentation would have accelerated the development process.
Please do share your findings and let us all help in developing and refining methods.
