I'm on my second Rezound now. First one I had was purchased release week, and I ended up cracking the screen (my fault), but it had a single dead pixel which is the point of this thread. My second and current Rezound just got its third dead pixel today.
Is this an inherent problem with the LCD panels used in the Rezound or am I just unlucky?
Thankfully, the pixels are so small its only visible when black images are populating my screen, but still gets annoying especially when playing rich colored games like death rally.
Took me 3 Rezounds before I got one w/o dead pixels. I guess it's a common problem w/ LCD screens, and I think this is their first 720p LCD screen? Just keep replacing it till you get a good one, that's what I did. Verizon will replace the device for dead pixels.
I'm on my second Rezound.. and neither of them have any dead pixels.
In my personal experience, dead pixels usually result of too much pressure applied to the screen, like from sitting on the phone or getting smashed inside a bag or something.

One of my past computer monitors had a few dead pixels. it was an isolated incident, but no pressure was applied to the monitor, not by me anyway.
I'm pretty gentle with my phone, but I press hard when I play games. maybe that does it. oh well. i will get a new one tomorrow.
look in the market for apps designed to fix dead/stuck pixels. Basically they rapidly flash colors. Run the app for like a half an hour, it might fix your problem. Also, don't look at the screen while it is running, especially if you are epileptic. I have one installed called dead pixel detect and fix. I never had a dead pixel though. I just wanted to check the app out.

Generally you get dead pixels during the mfg process when dust or other small particals "crush" the pixel and renders it dead. It took me five rezounds to get one without a dead pixel.

I have another Rezound coming tomorrow. Only thing I don't like is that it is certified like new. I guess if the phone turns out to be a good replacement, then no big deal. I just hope It doesn't take 5 phones to get me squared away. Seems time consuming.
My first replacement of the Rezound was brand new since it was during the release week I guess.

Good to hear.
I got my replacement phone today. Looks like a brand new phone; perfect cosmetically.
I haven't unlocked it yet, but have been noticing heat problems. Tried multiple batteries, with no luck. temp monitor is saying 119 degrees and that's after sitting in my pocket idle. Have had two random reboots and that's with a stock phone, and no market apps installed. I would venture to guess that the reboots are heat related.
I just talked to VZ and looks like I'll be getting another phone shipped to me on Monday, arrival on Tues. Hopefully this phone will be the last one :x

Good luck! I hope you get a device w/ no dead pixels, and one that doesn't over heat as well!
Received my Replacement today, a day early. Sending this one back too. The camera doesn't function on this one. I'm pretty annoyed at this point. Frustrated enough to be getting a Galaxy Nexus for my next replacement. The biggest reason I said yes to the Nexus when they offered is that it will be new and not a CLN replacement like these Rezounds I've been getting.
Now I have a new dilemma. I need to get rid of 2 external batteries with doors, 2 standard batteries, an external battery charger, and a few cases.
EDIT: The replacement Rezound I received today has perfectly red buttons. No pink look at all. What a waste of super red buttons...

I'm pretty sure I just got unlucky and the LNR replacements didn't help. Everything just left a bad taste in my mouth though, so I had to make a change. I do miss some things about the Rezound. The Rezound radios are far better. I was sitting at 127 dBm on the latest VZW OTA 4.0.2 in a spot where my Rezound was getting 85 dBm. Thats horrible. Even after flashing every combination of Gnex radios available, I'm still 6-10 dBm higher than the Rezound sitting in the exact same charging spot on my desk, and thats with stock GB radios, not leaks.
The best part of the switch has to be the deep black color of the screen and the customization possibilities currently available for the device.
Anyway, Verizon was easy to deal with for getting a new different device. They even let me keep the rezound earbuds which I already sold

I love this phone but every single one I've had has had issues. Just received my new one today. It's better then the rest
Do what you got to do. I'm on my 3rd 3vo now.
No one cares. Should I wear a red shirt tomm, or my new white one? No one cares

Cool story bro. I heard Samsung is coming out with a new phone for Sprint, you should try it out.
On my third. The first was for light leakage and a yellow tint. The second had leakage as well, so I figured I would live with it, but that one had a power button that wasn't responsive without pushing it down really hard.
This one has light leakage but everything else is fine. I'll live with it.

Anyways, yeah. The new one i got is pretty much perfect, we'll see.
I would take an HTC phone, over a samdong phone any day. I actually like quality
You collecting boxes? Aren't you supposed to return the boxes too? You could sell them on Ebay:
Brand new Evo 3D box
Only $149.

Anyone tried taking theirs back for the crooked screen? If so, did they replace it? Thinking about trying. Sometimes I don't really notice it, but there are sometimes when it really seems to show out more than others.
On your new one look closely for dirt under the screen..I'm sure you will find a spec some where. Then you can return it again.
And I'm sure no one would have noticed the crooked screens if it weren't for that thread...I feel like I'm the only person in the world who actually returned their phone for an actual defect that caused
the phone to not operate as intended.

Well I was on my way to get my 6th one, and yeah all them had issues, and since I got it on launch day this was my last shot, but I have had enough. Mmm what to do? Talked to the manger and they will extend my return policy so that I can get the photon. I have to say that sprints customers service was top notch. PS. I really wanted to like this phone

Your so much better than everyone else. You probably are the only legit person here. I paid full price for this phone. My laptop doesn't have a crooked screen and it cost less than this phone. Sorry for expecting my $550 phone to have a straight screen. Plus, FYI, I noticed the crooked screen without ever reading one thing on here about it. In fact, I had no idea anyone else had noticed it until I came here to post about mine and saw the thread! Imagine that! You are wrong about something!
Yeah, imagine that....Well maybe if someone had 6 issues with 6 different phones then maybe that person should look for a different product..If i had to get something replaced that many times I can tell you that product/company would not get my business...If you've replaced a product that many times you're never going to be happy.Save yourself the headache in searching for the perfect phone and just give it up and move on.
<side note> If i paid full price sure i'd be a bit more picky, but 6 times? Does the company even deserve your hard earned money at that point?

Yes, they should. Can't imagine you'd get any flack unless you get a turd of a store. Only returned mine once: for the crooked screen. New one is perfect. Local Sprint store even let me sit down in their repair room and open and check out the brand new one before they even activated it. I confirmed the screen was straight, used the camera and gallery to search for dead pixels and then when I was satisfied, they swapped them and activated the new one. Great service!
P.S. Manager at that store commented that my screen was pretty bad. His was slightly crooked too and he said he was going to swap his out later but we both said the one I exchanged was twice as bad! Drag the notification bar down and the left edge of the notification bar on the bottom was actually underneath the blackout it was so crooked! It's only half to 3/4 of a millimeter but that's easily noticeable and since the digitizer (top glass panel) is straight and the LCD panel underneath is crooked, it can actually throw off the touch response. Straight digitizer + crooked screen = some keys on keyboard (and buttons in some apps) don't align properly and you end up pressing the wrong thing sometimes.

I definitely agree with you on that point. I haven't taken my phone back yet because of the slightly crooked screen, but am thinking about it. It doesn't affect the function of the phone one bit, but it is a bit annoying when I see it. Like I said before it is not always noticeable, but there are certain times it is.
Some people are never satisfied and that's just the way it is.

If your screen is crooked and you noticed it with out the thread in this forum pointing it out to you then maybe your screen is crooked enough to warrant a swap out..My screen actually bricked on 3d content and anytime 3d activated,my phone would restart every time..If this phone I have now had an issue then I'd be done with it..I love the phone, but I think a lot of people here are wanting to love theirs and that's where the picky-ness sets in..I get it but I don't want to look forward to liking a product I buy..I want to like it for being what it is and performing the way it was intended...

I don't know if ASUS is listening, or they fixed problems that have been plaguing early adopters.
But I unboxed today my new Transformer Prime Champagne Gold 32GB model. Inspected the box and the box had a few scratches on it but I'm not surprised. I open it up, and there is a beautiful piece of machinery sitting right in front of me. First thing I notice is the sticker in the bottom right. I don't know if this was really needed but the sticker changed. It had new icons, for the Tegra 3 promo etc.
Second thing I did was inspect if for any scratches. And happy to report there are none! Every Transformer Prime I got into the office had the slightest of scratches somewhere on it. Well, none of this one. Phew!
Third, I take the plastic of the Prime, and try to turn it on. Not surprised, it came with little power, and had enough to tell me to connect to the charger. After flipping though the manuals to get to the charger, I noticed the manual was updated to reflect Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Sweet!
Fourthly, I notice the power button is slightly easier to press. It isn't bigger, but it defiantly didn't take as much force as my other Prime did.
Fifth, since the Prime was nearly dead, I went to go grab for the charger. I then noticed the cleaning cloth. ASUS took the cleaning cloth and x2 the size. There is also a new cardboard image the shows the Prime WITH a keyboard dock, and how to clean the screen, and back of the Prime. So thats new.
And finally, it came with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, with the latest update OTA that was released yesterday (today?). Does that mean new models are finally shipping with Ice Cream Sandwich and issues fixed? I hope so.
Now the Prime is thrown on its charger for its first charge, and here is a screenshot to show its a C1. I tested my Prime with a bluetooth headset and never lost Wifi, or dropped any speed. I hope to have screenshots later after the Primes very first charge has completed.
Thought I update all of you, THERE ARE GOOD PRIMES COMING! DON'T BE WORRIED WHEN PURCHASING! My company made the right decision to purchase Transformer Primes for app development and I hope you make the great jump.

EDIT: These were ordered from Amazon last week. I recommend ordering from Amazon, since the new models seem to be arriving in that location. Others may have too, but this the first I have ever seen this.
Today was my last return day for mine at BB. They are sold out & not selling any due to so many returns at the moment. I checked my local Staples online for stock for the hell of it. It said they had some in stock!
I quickly called & the guy checked and said they just a few in today. He held one for me & i ran to BB returned & took my money over to Staples.
I also got a C1 model & seems to be performing alot better. Wifi seems to be very good so far. I was only getting 2-3mbps on my living room. With my C1 i am getting upwards of 11-12. I am a happy camper right now!
Glad to hear the good news. Be Warned though. OTHERS will come n claim you're lying. They'll try to make you feel you not testing it right..lol. they'll try to make you show proof... you are in an Elite club now. Welcome! We've been waiting for you lol

They changed something, and thank god it was for the good!
Seems like nothing you listed it really worthy or earth shattering of a change to make the claim "THERE ARE GOOD PRIMES COMING!"
The things your "wowed" by hardly matter.. a bigger cleaner? ICS in a manual? ICS preloaded? none of this is... well, not that big of a deal
Nothing you said talks about the issues that plague people like ad hoc, gps, wifi, etc.. you hit on real, real low level surface things.
When they start shipping TF201 with a modified plastic strip back cover, youll see me pulling out my credit card and buying another prime and testing her out once again.

He's simply trying to prove that there are newer, improved Primes coming because the newer ones are packaged differently. Obviously if he had gotten one of the "defective" ones, it would have come packaged exactly the same. But now he got a different one and it seems to be a little better. Doesn't mean it's COMPLETELY OMG AMAZING SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME, but it's better so far.
Now to return to pooping on his party.
I am definitely going to take mine back this was wifi in living room by router!!!!

Hahaha at the cleaning cloth. I kept mine from the one i returned and have one from the keyboard dock. So i have 3 total. I spread them around as i hate smudges on my primes glass! Haha.
i received my TFP from amazon on 01/27. it's also a C1, but didn't come as the OP described and with honeycomb still installed.
Doesn't C1 simply mean produced in Jan 2012? Many Primes have been delivered as C1 and did not have the changes the OP posted, so C1 does not say a lot...

No, I'm not a non-believer, I'm only saying a serial number starting with C1 does not identify the new prime. I'm actually curious to see what else has changed (less bleeding, less dead pixels, better WIFI?) - but most of that can only be evaluated when a lot of people get those new primes.

It was a sunny Sunday. I was in a good mood, but I was also in a hurry as usual. I left my apartment and glanced at the latest social media posts while walking down the stairs. When I got outside, I kept my phone in my hand and did a fast walk to my car and accidentally slammed my phone to my leg. My hand couldn’t handle the impact and my phone dropped on the street... Damn...

I picked it up and I was surprised; the glass wasn’t broken and the aluminum cover had just some minor scratches. However, every time when I swiped over the screen, the side of my thumb would go over the scratched aluminum. Even Project Butter and HTC Sense Ultrasmooth couldn’t fix this sluggish feeling…
I looked on the Internet and found out that a new cover (front aluminum case + battery backcover) would only cost me about 19 euros ($25,-). Worth a try, I’d say. Just like all items I order from China, it would take my new casing about four weeks to get to my country. Just for fun, I ordered the HTC Evo 3D White edition, which has only been available in the US. As you might know, Europe has the black edition with golden lens cover frame. So this would result in a pretty unique phone, most likely the only white one in The Netherlands.
Then, after waiting for four weeks, it finally came in.
I took some lessons on how to dismantle the phone (found out I had no fitting screwdrivers) and began to take it apart. Of course, for a phone which cost me about 700 euros, it was quite a nerve breaker. You might want to know that in this phone, all components are glued or screwed to the front case, which I was going to replace. Meaning: the whole phone had to be dismantled. After 1 hour I finally got to the most difficult part: heating up the digitizer (capacitive glass) to ‘melt’ the glue between the glass and the case. It was harder than I thought. The glue was pretty strong and it took me about 3 hours to get the digitizer and LCD display separated from the front case. Bad thing was; when removing the digitizer I noticed some glass splinters coming off… Let’s just hope it’s going to be all right…
Finally I screwed and glued all other components back, and booted the phone. It started and looked very cool. I went to sleep in a good mood. The operation had taken 5 hours and it was 2:00 AM, time to take some rest.
The next day I noticed that not all parts on my digitizer where working. The LCD screen was working as it should, but a certain area on the screen wouldn’t response to my finger touches. It seemed a horizontal bar of about 100px high was unresponsive. The exact same spot where I broke some glass… Damn...
Again on ebay, I found out that front cases including digitizer and LCD screen where also available. This would mean I’d only have to replace the motherboard, camera buttons, front camera + speaker and microphone units. The price was again pretty low; only 33 euros ($45.70). I ordered a US black edition (with red frame), so I would have all 3 types ever made by HTC. Again, I had to wait for the items to be delivered. Although my phone was missing a row of responsiveness, it was still operational.
For 4 days.
On another sunny Sunday my phone stopped booting my ROM and (touch) recovery. The bootloader was still accessible and I thought naively it was a software malfunction. I flashed some wrong RUU’s and the phone stopped booting and charging… Damn…
I picked up an old HTC Desire from my collection and flashed some new version of CyanogenMod on it.
While waiting four weeks for my item to arrive, I found a broken HTC Evo 3D on marktplaats.nl, a Dutch equivalent to ebay. It was a phone which had fallen on the floor, down a staircase and again on the floor. As you would imagine, it wasn’t much of a phone. “But...” -I thought- “if a new case + LCD + digitizer is only 33 euros, I could build myself a development phone for only 25 + 33 = 58 euros” ($78,90). That could come in handy when I have to test one of my HTC Evo 3D apps for JB and KitKat. I got to the address of the reseller and found out that the phone contained a lot of parts. The reseller gave me a separate broken digitizer, the LCD screen was broken, the whole aluminum case around the front panel was gone and the back looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while. But hey, the motherboard was still inside, so it’s most likely still functioning. Via ebay, I ordered a new front-case including digitizer and LCD. A white one again this time.
Finally, my black case arrived. I unscrewed all loose parts from my newly bought second HTC Evo 3D and rebuild everything on the new black case. Although the digitizer wasn’t glued on very well, it looked pretty cool to have the US GSM edition. After attaching the USB charger it took some time to come to life, but finally it did.
It was 9:00 PM and I was already late for dinner. When I got back, the phone was off. No charging, no booting… Damn…
Now I had 2 bricked phones and quite some spare parts. On xda I read a thread about a malfunction in the bootloader. When the battery has absolutely no power, the phone cannot boot into its initial state to start charging. A.k.a.; you’ll need a bit of juice in your battery to get your phone to charge. Funny solution: go to a phone shop and ask if you can test the HTC Evo 3D dock battery charger for about an hour, or buy a charger. I found one on dx.com for 8 euros ($10,90). It even came with a new battery included. Worth a try, I’d say.
The holiday season started and as I had the items being send from dx and ebay to my office, I wasn’t able to pick anything up. I guess the post order guy didn’t even visit the office building. I had to wait till the holiday season was over.
(This is the moment where you can get yourself a new beverage).
On Tuesday, January the 6th I received 2 packages; my charger and the white case. I happily replaced my case and broken digitizer with a brand new one. I fully charged 2 batteries using the new battery dock, inserted both and pressed the power buttons. Nothing happened. No charging, no booting. Nothing… Damn…
On xda I read a lot of threads about unbricking with the use of Linux Live CD’s, but none of the methods worked for either of my phones. I did read about a JTAG RIFF box, which is a box that can be connected to your hardware directly, without the use of the USB port. All reviews looked promising, but a new RIFF box would cost me about 160 euros ($217,-). A bit too expensive in my opinion, I couldn’t be sure if it would fix my bricked phones. Again searching on marktplaats.nl, I found a guy who owned a RIFF box and was willing to investigate my bricks. “No cure no pay” was the slogan, so it was worth a try.
On a Thursday evening I dropped off both phones at his place. He said he would take a look at them the same evening. Friday afternoon he called me. He’d been working on it the whole Thursday evening and the next Friday morning and afternoon. Both devices seemed to be dead. However, he managed to get the charging lights to work twice. He asked if I could bring him the backcovers, which I had left at home. Sure, no problem. He has been working on it Saturday afternoon and called me again. No luck. I went back to his place and collected the 2 expensive paperweights. If I take the case leftovers into account, I’d say I’d have 5 paperweights now.
Again, I started looking at marktplaats.nl for parts or a complete working HTC Evo 3D. I found one for 60 euros ($82), but as the reseller was also selling a lot of bikes, photo camera’s in groups of 5, laptops without chargers, tablets without chargers and the gear of a poor fisherman, I wasn’t going to buy it from a person who was obviously a thief.
I found another reseller, who sold his phone for 80 euros ($108,-). Again, worth a try, I’d say. I asked a colleague to pick it up, as he was living in the same city as the reseller. The next day I found a dirty, damaged and smudgy HTC Evo 3D on my desk. But it booted. Finally
Now I had two choices: clean the “new” device or unscrew all parts and place the motherboard in one of my new cases. I chose option 2. After all the hassle with the previous devices, I was getting pretty quick at taking a device apart and rebuilding it again. I chose to use the white front+lcd+digitizer, the motherboard and speaker from the “new” phone, the frontfacing camera, camera buttons and microphone from my first Evo and the black back case (just for fun). After only 30 minutes of work, I pressed the power button. It booted into bootloader.
The device already seemed to be htc dev unlocked. I tried to flash my favorite ROM, but something wasn’t right. The bootscreen showed up, but after some time it got stuck in a bootloop. I found out the previous owned had upgraded the hboot to version 1.53. According to some xda threads I should use version 1.49 to be able to flash everything I want. However, I found a boot.img which would work for 1.53. It worked, the rom started. All hardware was available, I called my brother to test the speaker and microphone; everything worked. Except wifi; under settings it said: WiFi error… Damn…
It seemed it had something to do with the combination of hboot, boot.img and kernel. The best solution seemed to be to downgrade to hboot 1.49. After quite some hassle with JuopunutBear and the difficult Wire Trick, I managed to downgrade to hboot 1.49. I got S-off, but a locked bootloader. Not that big of a deal, I’ve been htc dev unlocking bootloaders a lot of times in the past. I managed to flash my rom again and it booted fine.
Finally a working HTC Evo 3D again.
What lessons did I learn from this?
1. Always stay curious and try to learn from your faults
2. Murphy was wrong when I bought the 6th device. I got it working
Wait a minute! You said your Evo 3D White has 6 paperweights!

True, I purchased another damaged HTC Evo 3D, which I will try to combine with the US black edition case+lcd+digitizer.
I expect it to be delivered next week
Thanks for reading!
Just for fun, I made a 3D image of the inner circuitboard which can be used as a 3D Wallpaper.
Note that the stock HTC Gallery doesn't know how to display a portrait 3D image, use the ImageView 3D app instead.
As some of you might notice, the image is flipped horizontally so the see through matches what's behind the screen (for example, the usb connector is on the left side)
Just a impression of what it looks like
Update January 23th 2014
I managed to build a working device of the last HTC Evo 3D the black/red case. Downgrading hboot took a while and cwm gave quite some errors, but I managed to get KitKat working on it
Normally I would not even bother to read something this long, but it was quite a story
Thanks for sharing
so you basically paid about 190€ to get your phone running again ? i would just have bought a moto g
Good story. Looks like you learned from your mistakes.

Woow, this is an amazing story, for me, that i bricked my previous EVO 3D , i thinked that i'm the worst developer, but reading your story, you make me feel proud for that mistake. Thanks BRO.

Great story. Though the pic with the evo on the ground really should be labeled "re-enactment"
Great story and thank you for sharing! Also a fan of the 3D and its' capabilities. My EVO3D is still running ETERNITY in my daughter's pocket. Everything works!

Wow, that's dedication at its finest.
This makes me wish I had snapped pictures documenting the rebuild/repair of my S3.
I bought a dev edition, which only came in blue. I really wanted a black phone, but I just couldn't justify the risk in replacing the glass (glued on) and the frame (which had the LCD, glass, buttons, and a few other things glued to it).
Then I cracked the glass (when it was in my freaking pocket!). I figured if I'm replacing the glass, I may as well replace the frame; I'd already be half way there.
...
3-4 weeks, 3 shipments, 2 frames, 3 spare backs, 2 glass fronts, and a LCD later, I have a working dev edition S3, without "DEVELOPER EDITION" etched on the front glass and in the battery compartment, without cracked glass, and in black. My reaction was a bit like this:

Wow, im just ....
Awesome reading
Great post. Made me nostalgic for my 3D, wish I had of kept a hold of it now instead of selling it to a friend.
Great post, glad it made to the portal so more people will read this.
6 EVOs. 6. :highfive:
You, my friend, are totally insane. In a good way though.

Hm, I see I'm not the only one like this
I could tell the Story the HD2 an the 4 paperweights... But not now, because I still have to write 10 pages for school till tomorrow for school. I should have stopped to procrastinate instead of reading storys of broken Phones
But good story!
But you didn't even try to figure out whats wrong with the last Mainboard you bricked (or did I overread something, sorry my English is bad)

I think in the OP's eyes, a better way to put it is DEDICATION, screw the money, && for me, it's INSPIRATION. :good: Thanks for Sharing OP @HJ200
You beat Murphy! That was a really fun read.

This was a pretty interesting read, thank you OP.

It seems I am one of the unlucky ones, who by accident break their phones while having it in the pocket. A week after I bought the Z Ultra, I discovered that the phone was bent, i.e. the corners were a couple of millimeters taller than the middle of the phone, which I decided to remedy by bending it back once in a while. But alas, it is broken now.
After looking at the picture, people are probably going to say, that its caused by bumping into something, but I can pretty much rule that out, as I always have the power button on the phone facing my important pants, which means that the screen is facing my left leg. If I bumped into something, then my important parts would hurt as well.
The big question is: are they going to fix it under warranty, or should I fix it myself?

As you can see, the cracks starts beneath the power button, and moves across to where the speaker is. It looks very much like it couldnt handle the stress any more, on the corners?
You've probably bent the frame too much when having it your pants pocket, and it probably couldn't handle the stress at one point and snapped.
Will it be covered by your warranty? I doubt it. Don't you have some insurance?

Yeah, that sounds plausible.
I do have insurance, but I have to pay a deductible of 140€ / $193, or almost 1/5 of the price of a new Z Ultra.

Yeah, that sucks, but do you have any choice? You can either sell it as it is for a very low amount of cash, you can keep the screen cracked and hate your Ultra, or you can invest €140 into it and also get some money back if you're going to sell it down the road.

This happened to me a week ago. I was texting and I had just put it back in my pocket and it vibrated and I went to text the person back and it was cracked and I couldn't do anything. I called the lady that finally sent me a new phone for free the last time my phone broke. This time she told me that this is a problem with the phone and has been happening to many people and I should get it done for free. I hope she is right because I have sent my phone back but I have not heard from sony yet which is not surprising because I had to email the a bijillion times last time to even get a response about my phone that they couldn't fix due to a operating system problem. This has never happened to me with other phones. Don't get me wrong I love my phone and missed it dearly since i sent it back last monday breaking on sunday. I can not wait to get it back because using an old laggy s2 is not fun. Which I have had for 2 years and never had really bad problems with it. Only lags because the rom I use is horrible and cant flash another rom because my recovery doesn't work like it should. Back on topic. I have had this phone since november and it has broke twice. I will be mad if I have to pay anything since i got this new replacement one in december. I will pay what they want me to though but paying 680$ for a phone that breaks every month is not cool. For 680 I should get a phone that last a lifetime. I am considering selling my baby. But I really don't want to even though it breaks a lot. I love it either way. I will update you if I have to pay anything but for now it is in Texas where I sent my old phone back. Ill keep you update.

True, I dont see people complaining about iphone quality that much.
But all things aside, I am hoping that UK dont get that many defective units since we have stricter QC measure in place.
Like most things, people dont bother to write unless they have a complaint. So im sure for every complaint you hear there are a hundred happy people. I have had mine since release day and the only thing i am dissapointed in is the volume buttons being on the side(which i all ready knew).

Glad to hear u are happy with your G5.
As for the volume control I am glad that they decided to put it on the side, since its easier for me to skip tracks easily while phone is in my pocket but with my G3 i have to really search for it and most of the times i would just hit the power button or camera lens
Camera lens scratched already.
I've had the phone since April 1st and i've been very happy with, however i just noticed that my Camera's glass cover in the back is already scratched. I have a case on the phone and I've been very careful with the phone. I'm very disappointed and annoyed that this got scratched up so easily! has anyone else noticed this? just seems like a very cheap material in the back. Is there any protector i can buy or will it distort the image?

That sucks. I'm pretty certain I saw a case on Amazon that covers the camera as well. Yes, it must distort the photo a LITTLE but hopefully not much. Maybe it was the Lifeproof case?

Keep your order. It'll be worth it for you trust me. Got mine from ee today. Absolutely amazing phone and in perfect condition with amazing build quality.
I've been very happy with the build quality of mine (had it since Wednesday), moving from a Nexus 5X the quality is in such a higher league in my opinion. So I am very happy. If build quality is your only concern I wouldn't worry, like others have said for every one complaint there will of been many more who have been fine! The phone (at least in the UK anyway) comes with a 2 year warranty (one year for the battery) so that has to go some way in showing that LG believe tha5 the build quality of the phone will last at least that amount of time. I've only got one problem so far which is that the camera, on both the normal and wide angle (although more noticeable on the wide angle) seems to distort massively, almost as though you are shooting through a plastic protective cover. Although I've picked at the camera it doesn't appear one was on it out of the box and I don't want to try too much harder in case it isn't and it is just a terrible software bug that it causing it! The camera in the 5X has been amazing in low light and this feels a bit of a deal breaker for me personally (the camera is the main feature even above battery). Has anyone else had to remove some a plastic cover from the camera after taking it out the box?

M8 i would just take it back and replace it, no point in taking a chance.
My G5 is flawless and looks amazing.
Got mine 4-1-16 and have had zero issues. No light bleed no calling or headphone jax issues no gaps and some say that the side ring or whatever around the phone is like sharp or something mine is not. Some people are saying the battery life sucks but mine is great i get 5 to 5.5 hours screen on time. Also if the screen is off over 8 hours like if i dont charge at night i get maybe 5 to 8% drop at most.
My suggestion is when you get your phone if you see anything wrong like sharp edges gaps light bleed go and exchange for a new one. I think I heard Lg has multiple plants manufacturing the phone and one of them must be effing up big time. I got mine at best buy so I dunno if that makes a difference
I've heard more complaints with the build quality of this phone than with any other in recent memory.
Yes, some may be nitpicky, but for a damn near $700 device, we're allowed to be picky.
I'm not saying it's a bad device, I'm just going by what I've been researching/seen instore. It sounds like it performs like a Champ but you may have to go through a few to get a solid built one.
