Hey, you are my last hope.
I bought a used galaxy s2 with a software defect, I didnt know: 1. Mistake
Now, I'm stuck in a bootloop, I can't go into the recovery, but in download mode.
So I'm not totally screwed.
But, when I'm using the jig to go into download mode, my windows 7 64 bit laptop does not recognize the phone at all. So Odin does not work.
So how can I manage to get the drivers installed completely, without the need to boot the sgs2 up...
Pls help me!
It is an international i9100 from Germany

Does that mean you have not installed KIES or the Samsung USB drivers ???

Installed kies but its not running in the background. Like it should be.
Normally, if the sgs2 is on, windows installs the drivers. But in my case,y device is only the download mode available... So it doesn't recognize my phone instead it is an unknown device...
I hope you can understand what I mean...
So I need a way to install drivers for s2 without having a bootable device...
Ideas?
Gesendet von meinem Sensation mit Tapatalk 2
You only need to install KEIS...
after opening ODIN and you phone connecting, are you getting ID:COM box highlighted yellow, and in the messege box its wriiten "added" then you got drivers and phone is recognized..

Normally, the drivers are installed during download mode. This is because download mode seems to use different serial port-like drivers. Try another PC.
Try this!
Put your phone in download mode, connect cable
Go to windows update and check for updates!
You should find the updated drivers in the optional updates
Good luck

Hi guys im only new here,
Im not sure if i posted this in the right section feel free to move it MODs
Anyway I think i may have bricked my galaxy s2, I get a message that says "Firmware upgrade encountere...." ,after i tried to flash a stock rom back onto the phone after using lite'ning rom for a while, the process failed about half way through, I was using Odin, i can no longer get into recovery mode or clockwork recovery....I can still however get into download mode but my pc wont recognise the device through odin.....
I think it may be bricked
If the phone is bricked could i get a usb jig and reset the binary count to "0" and bring it to my authorised samsung repair shop, would they know i have rooted the phone and would my warranty still be covered?
Thanks for any help guys, i loved this phone and now its useless..
This should go into Q&A.
What stock firmware did you flash exactly? Stock carrier?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Hi I tried to flash an inscure.tar file, of a stock rom i found on a website i think it was KE7,.... sorry im a complete noob
No worries. That's why XDA is here for you to learn.
So you can get into download mode but Odin doesn't see your device. Seems like the Samsung drivers isn't installed on your computer. Try installing the device drivers manually. And see if Odin recognizes your device then.
EDIT: did you make sure kies wasn't running in the background when you're using ODIN?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Ok thanks for the help, kies was not running tin the background anyway, can you tell me how to manually install the drivers if possible?
Where can i get a stock firmware for a sgs2 sgh-I777? i loaded ics 4.0.3 and now my speaker and mic dont work during calls. Anyone have and ideas on how to get back to gingerbread? i have search for it and everywhere says it has been removed.
Try uninstalling kies and install again. Once installed plug in your device and see if it downloads the drivers that way.
I'll try and look for the drivers while you do that.

You'll have better luck in the at&t gs2 forums. You won't find your file here. Sorry

Ok i will try that and get back to you
Sounds like a soft brick. I had problems flashing once (work computer was playing up) and it was complaining about needing an emergency firmware recovery in kies but I just re-flashed the rom when I got home and it was all good.
Hopefully it's the same for you.
The thing is I cant reflash because odin wont recognise the device, and i cannot get into recovery mode for a manual flash either :/

If the problem still persists, then explain in depth as to what you did . Hope This Helped
I've followed the guide several times, but i can't get my device connected to odin. here is what i do: delete samsung kies, install odin, install the samsung drivers, put my phone in download mode connect it. (i have also tried to connect it and then download mode etc.).
Two things come to mind. One, the phone is borked & is a service centre job. Two, you're doing something wrong, but as we're not there with you looking over your shoulder, it's going to be nigh on impossible for anyone here to say exactly what that is.
Given you say you've tried 'everything' (and you have listed everything I normally tell people to do when they can't get their PC/Odin to recognise the phone), I don't know of any other options that anyone here can give you.
If it were me, I'd persevere & keep trying to get Odin to recognise the phone for a bit. I know you've tried different PC's, try some more. Again, I understand you've tried different USB cables, try others. There is no magic fix here.
Then I'd bite the bullet & send it into Samsung. If they end up wanting to charge you for the repair, consider having it JTAG'd. Will probably end up cheaper.

Why did you delete kies? :O . Just close the processes of kies at the time of starting odin.

Your post gave me a thought Krishnadusad. OP, I realise you manually installed drivers after you removed Kies from your PC which would normally work just fine 999 times out of 1000. However...Given nothing else is working, download a fresh copy of Kies from Samsung's website, reboot, install it, reboot again.
Then try Odin again, and check Windoze task manager & make sure you end task on Kies or any related processes.
Worth a shot I figure.
Install kies again and charge your mobile. Then download the stack rom from sam firmware. Beware. I suggest you flash the 4.0.3 as the 4.0.4 has brick bug. Then boot into download mode and flash the stck rom. You may want to check out the how to threads.

thanks for your help. But i wasn't able to flash so i brought it to the store, samsung is fixing it. I hope it isn't to expensive!
When you are in download mode - you are not bricked and it's 100% chance to restore your phone to full funcionality. Just read some FAQs next time

samsung fixed my phone for free they told me they replaced some hardware. Thank you all for helping me!
you did not try to go into recovery mode(volumeup-HOME-powerbutton) and wipe?
As the title say, My i9300 does not detected by any pc, it worked perfectly a few months ago (but it rarely used by my parents so they gave it to me)
Tried diffrent cables, tried to install kies & usb drivers, tried to reinstall kies & usb drivers, tried to connect with another pc
But my i9300 detected in download mode, so i rooted my phone, and install the http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/app-sgs3-easy-ums-mount-external-t1711009 but still.... nothing, and I also tried to install custom rom (CM 10.2) and see what happens, it's still not detected, i thought that this could be a hardware problem, but when i tried to connect it in download mode, it detected
Can anybody help me? sorry for my bad english, as i'm not a native speaker Thanks

Aren't you just missing some drivers? Maybe try to reinstall them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
Also make sure to allow drivers to interact with your device if anything prompts while in Odin.

Relax.. I understand how frustrating it can be.
I need a detail explanation of what you did to get it into that state and what you've tried. A bullet point list will suffice. I just need to know so I can work out how buggered it is and where to go from here.
I need to know which PC operating system you're using, which variant of s3 you have including its region (this can be determined by the sticker in the battery compartment unless you already know.
There is a possibility it is your os not detecting the device because of drivers but if you've tried formatting and starting over then it shouldn't have any issues. The only other option is to manually edit the drivers ".cat" file with the s3's actual physical address before installing the drivers, but this is in extreme circumstances when the os is not "playing ball".
Also remove kies or at least stop all of its running processes when using odin.
My advice at this stage is to manually remove all drivers from the pc OS regarding the s3 and wait until we figure out where the s3 is at. I have a gdrive with some useful stuff that I know works on Windows XP flawlessly. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4vTiHTBB629ZW5vQndpbjFnblk
One question though.. When you pull the battery out and reinsert it. Does the phone automatically boot to download mode, is it stuck there permanently or does it boot loop?.

1st of all I want to thank you bro for reply...
Now..
I am using Windows 10 64bit, using Samsung galaxy sIII GT-I9300 Indian single sim varient.
I rooted it using KingoRoot successfully but I found I wasn't able to get SuperSU and without that I was not able to use root fun properly so I tried to flash the same with flashFire.. it failed as it require SuperSU. So I tried installing TWRP recovery from playstore and it started flashing and after reboot, It stuck on the Downloading mode.. No matter how many buttons I tried pushing combined it stuck on downloading mode...
I tried almost all method on YouTube and websites but it still don't work. Worst thing .. I tried fixing the same by Kies as well as ODIN but .. I never detect my phone.. when i connect my phone after uninstalling and Or installing the samsung driver and Kies as well.. windows didn't recognise it.
I am about to give up n this and almost ready to smash the phone with wall hammer and throw it under my car tyres but I committed myself not to do that before 14th May.
The problem is most likely Windows 10 64bit. I'm quite sure the drivers don't agree with them.
You're going to have to find an older OS and try it. Either use a virtual machine or dual boot and load up a real OS like XP. Then we can begin the proper problem solving. I hate putting percentages on things but I'm 90% confident that windows 10 is an issue here, mainly for the fact it is 64bit and the drivers aren't made for that.
As for button combo's if they don't work while booting and it goes straight to download mode then there is a big problem and it could be bricked. You can try holding just the power button for about 15 seconds while in download mode and it "should" attempt to reboot. If not then as I said, big issue ahead.
No matter what you need to get it seen by odin so get yourself xp somehow and use the stuff on my gdrive. You need to get yourself a copy of the latest firmware for your phone, ready to flash via odin should you get it to see the phone.

If you can afford to have them look at it then it's up to you but you will be billed for it as the s3 is out of warranty. They haven't made the s3 for about 3 years now.

My phone was perfectly fine until yesterday, it just turned off and get a bootloop (clearing cache was helpful but not this time) so i wanted to format the data but missclicked (didnt realise that) and wiped everything. How now i can install any rom? Phone is not recognised in odin and i havent got any sdcards.
What can i do now? I need to fix it ASAP
Adb push, buy an cheap sd card, try to install the bootloader drivers of the S3.
Maybe an dead emmc
