What rom are you using? i think it may differ from stock with root, to cm9/other custom roms

You sure you have removed PowerOn.Wav or PowerOn.Ogg .

I think it was actually power on ogg

Again depends on the rom you're using. For normal stock based roms its the PowerOn.wav in the System\etc folder, otherwise look for a file called android_audio.mp3 in the same location as the bootanimation.zip, System\media.

[Q] Question regarding Voodoo and changing boot animations

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I've searched all over and didn't find anything that answered my particular question...
So anyways I've installed the new Voodoo lagfix (v0.2) and it mentions being able to swap in new boot animations and it sounds simple enough but when I look in my /system/media or data/local directories I don't see an existing bootanimation.zip file to replace.
In /system/media all I have in there is an audio folder, a bunch of .qmg files, and a video folder containing the shutdown .pngs.
In data/local there is only a tmp folder with 2 .lck files.
I've tried copying a bootanimation.zip into both of those and rebooting but still got the stock samsung/verizion bootup animation. Any idea what I'm doing wrong or what else I need to do to get it to use the new boot animation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Did you install just the Voodoo lagfix or the Lagfix/bootanimation/OC kernel?
I didn't know you could change it yourself without any coding experience o.o
However I do not know how to change it
But in the event someone posts how, what are some cool boot animations?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
To change the boot animation you need to make sure your kernel supports it. In the Voodoo thread there are 3 kernels.... one with just the Voodoo fix. One with the Voodoo, boot animation, and one with the lagfix, boot animation, and OC. Make sure you are using one with the boot animation change, and put a bootanimation.zip in to /data/local/ or /system/media/
You are my hero, but where are these folders? And were can I find a boot animation?

Sorry guess I should have specified...
(btw sorry if I'm about to butcher any lingo.. I'm still new to the whole scene here)
I rooted, followed the instructions on using Odin to flash ClockworkMod then applied the lagfix from the Voodoo thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804317) while in ClockworkMod Recovery which appeared to work as my quadrant scores went from ~900 to ~1700.

Oh gotcha. I guess I know what I did wrong then. I believe I only used the voodoo_kernel_0.2.zip which I guess is just the one with the lag fix.
How would I go about changing to one of the other 2 from where I'm currently at with just the lag fix?
Also I'm assuming the one I'd want to use this time is the " 1200_voodoo_bootanimation_0.2.zip" correct? I'm guessing that's the one with all 3 (lag fix, boot animation and OC)?

The folders are on the device. You can use adb commands to push the bootanimation.zip file to them. "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local"
Search online to find boot animations. Pretty easy to find.

You will need to reflash using either the 1000_voodoo_bootanimation_0.2.zip or the 1200 one to use the boot animations.

The 1200 is the one with all 3 yes. And use the same method you did before with just the Voodoo lagfix to reflash with the new kernel. Very easy and should only take a couple mins.

Just flash it like you did the first time through clockwork. Then move the boot animation zip over.

Ok cool, so I should be able to just toss the 1200_voodoo_bootanimation_0.2.zip to the /voodoo folder on my sdcard, boot into CWRecovery and reapply the zip?
Sounds easy enough. I'll give that a try, thanks guys!

BTW...there's a post in the Fascinate Themes forum that has information on start and shutdown sounds as well as animations.

Just so we're clear, all these boot anim. and boot changes can be made just using Root Explorer? Yes?

Anyone know of any good sites/links where I could find some?

This contains a qmg file. If i rename the zip to bootanimation.zip it should work?
In case you were still waiting for a reply, no it should not work. A qmg file is a compressed video file using some proprietary format that gets played. Bootanimation.zips contain a series of images that are linked together to create an animation.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, so I've flashed this, and I still get that drunken clam from Team Whiskey. Is there another location the bootanimation.zip is stored? I can see everything else as far as the Galaxy S boot and sound but it flickers in between the drunken clam. Any ideas?

check untermensch thread of the i9000 boot and shutdown animation. i have steps on what i did to get it to work on a rom modified for bootanimations.zip
whats happening is the zip you're flashing, isnt installing the qmg files to the system/media. so you'll have to push them manually with root explorer

I also want to change my boot animation back to the stock sgs2, I tried putting the qmg files in system/media and removing the boot animation.unicorn file, but that didn't work. did you do it manually? Or does anyone know how to on this rom?
you need to push the zip file "bootanimation.zip" into /system/media.
You need to do it with some file explorer like 'Root Explorer' when you are on /system remember set the press the button R/W on the top to give the permissions for writing on this folder
Yep, done all that, but unfortunately the rom doesn't read the stock .qmg files so ended up making a bootanimation.zip from scratch. Now just to get the audio running... I have the PowerOn.ogg file, does anyone know where to put it? Doesn't seem to work in usual system/etc folder

I've successfully changed the bootanimation back to the original stock one by replacing the zip file into system/media, but even i put the Power on.wav into the system/etc, still i've got no sound ...
How can i solve it?!
(Using remix pro 1.1)
Thanks!
Same issue only with v1.4
I have resurrection remix ICS 1.4 and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the audio working for my boot animations. It seems there may be plenty of others who would like an answer to this question. Getting bootanimations to work is no problem but the audio seems to be a mystery.

with the RES REMIX PRO 1.1 version, have you tried converting the .wav to .ogg format then putting it in system/etc?
Try either PowerOn.ogg/wav/mp3 or Android_audio.ogg/wav/mp3 and see how you go.

my guess would be a particular app, probably an mp3 downloader or something that has adds. take a look at the clippings and see if you recognize them from somewhere. find out what app is doing it and shut it down (clear data and force close) in applications manager, and delete the pics. or just delete the app/ find a similar one or pay for the add free version if there is one and see how you go

I rename the original to OGbootanimation.zip then I copy the new on into the folder. That way I can delete the experimental file and name the original back if the experimental file won't work. It saves a few steps.
Make sure you're moving the zip file and don't extract it or use CWM on it.
Hm, is it boot animation.zip or sanim.zip?
Have you tried searching the Seraphim thread?

Like others have said, you just need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and place it in your system/media folder using ES File Explorer (what I use) or Root Explorer. Then reboot and wallah.
It's never not worked for me. I'm currently running Unofficial CM9, and I replaced the Cyanogen boot with the Galaxy Nexus ICS boot animation, to keep Android tasting Vanilla...

anyone know how to add sound to their boot animation

I read through just about every post on this topic, however it was covered on other phones. So does anyone have an idea where I'm suppose to put my audio file to get this to work?
I have already tried putting both MP3 and OGG files in system/media/audio, and edited my desc.text file in my boot animation zip to have: s "file.ogg " this hadn't worked for me. Amy help would be appreciated. I'm running black star 7 if that helps our make a difference. Thanks
