This better be a primer for ICS!!!!
Sent from locked bootloader...motoFAIL
I had it loaded for a little bit. It was leaked some time ago. ICS is great for me.
Verizon has updated their documentation reflecting this update as well.
http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/droid_razr_instructions.pdf
Oh thank God. Motocast updates...
Should I hold off on root and ics until this? Don't much matter if I protect root? Or will root users not get the ota update without going back to stock?

You have to go back to stock to get back on the upgrade path to receive this. I'm currently on ICS and have no plans of getting this useless update.
Does anyone know if a rooted, stock ROM will receive the update? I assume so but don't know.

I believe so, assuming that you haven't touched the stock rom at all.
The update will check your current install to make sure it's exactly the way it should be.
Which means, if you've frozen or removed the bloatware. Unfreeze/reinstall them for the update to stick.

If you can't wait, you can download it here: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1493-unofficial-update-612181xt912/
I've been running it and it's been flawless, but there isn't really anything new or interesting compared to .173.
while we, the x910 owners, sitting and watch those verzion's users getting updates and ics leaks.

have the same model, and currently in Stockholm, but I am unable to check for OTA... dont know why...
I also received the OTA update, however it won't install. After reboot I get a "Software update failed" message. Any ideas?
I don't know what's wrong with my Razr, but I can't get the update to install. I unrooted, no go. Wiped it, still no go. Wiped via recovery, the update is still failing. What the fark?
Downloaded and update the phone.
Firstly, I have noticed that the update is only downloading via Wifi and not via data network. Not clearly sure why.
Anyways, will post later on the new performance after this update. Hopefully the random reboot problem would be rectified(fingers crossed!!!!!)..

See all those phones listed? Guess what? They all have locked bootloaders! You don't have to have an unlocked bootloader to have a bootstrap!
What this means is if you hose your phone you'll be able to get to the bootstrap for recovery. With the hacked version we have now there is no key combination to get into the bootstrap.
Mike
What I see in the screenshot says RAZR... so does it mean the GSM model?

Atrix got the bootloader unlocked so there is still hope
If noobs on the Atrix would follow installation instructions properly we would have an unlock bl for the razr and other motorola phones however.
When noobs dont follow instructions, it increases costs for motorola because they have to pay for customer service and so on

Did you replace or delete any system files? custom ad-hoc replacement maybe? Things like this cause the red triangle. All system files have to be intact before you update.
damn mine got triangle too didnt delete or touched anything. damn now i gotta RMA this one back thing was working perfect too
The same thing happened to me the first day i got mine and tried to update do ICS (.13 firmware back then). I rebooted and got back to HoneyComb and did the manual update do ICS.
I've been getting the red triangle ever since the first update i did when i got the tablet in december. Only way for me to apply updates is when the file is available for manual update on asus download site...usually a couple of weeks late on everyone else !!!
Don't know why, if i put the file on my microsd card and apply go through the manual update procedure that has been explained here, it works flawlessly, but if i try the automatic way, it never works.....and yes, i have played with system files...
Tried to restore , to unroot, pray to budha.....sacrifice a virgin to king kong.....nothig has worked....just have to wait for asus ...or some wise guy to make the WW available
hell no am gonna RMA this thing back i want updates now not later.i only have 2 weeks with this one even though wifi and all works great of course accept GPS. Call me crazy but if i have option to update thru wifi crap better work

You changed system files or uninstalled system apps (aka bloteware) you need to restore back....there are lots of threads from past updates that explains how to restore to stock........
I am rooted and restored my system back and updated without issue.

custom ad hoc files won't affect anything. I had them before update and didn't do anything to them or put it back to stock. update went through and installed just fine. must be something else that guy messed with in system files. maybe he themed his notifications or taskbar icons. that'll mess it up update.

I suspect since this is signed with test keys and not release keys, this won't boot after being flashed, I also suspect this may perma-brick folks even if they are on the current ICS leak that has us all (possibly) off the upgrade path. If we could get p3droid to try flashing this on his "special" razr we might be able to shed some more light.
*** No one should flash this if they have a locked bootloader because they will likely get a $700 brick ***
It is interesting that this fastboot has HIGHER build numbers than the build for .84 and .85 -- this is making me feel better, I suspect that we won't be stuck on this build once the official ICS OTA comes out I think we will be able to fastboot to it. I wonder if the update that was pulled via Cheesecake was placed there for someone from the Dev team to make a jump to the newest ICS core for the build (CDT update ETC) hopefully it stays standardized through the builds.
Interesting. I will be watching this very closely.
Sextape was very helpful to the et4g folks w some leaks. Maybe he's able to do the same for us

PLEASE tell me there is a way to revert my Razr Maxx from ICS back to Jelly Bean!? ICS is terrible, and has data issues, is slower and a whole lot of other problems. Maybe a factory reset back to out of the box state? Will that work, or is it even possible?
Thanks
U mean gingerbread?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Arrggg, yes Gingerbread I mean.
I did a factory reset (System Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset) after I first installed ICS, and it has been generally snappy, which gave me a clean ICS system. I would have been hesitant to reset it if I hadn't had to wipe the phone just to get the update to go through....
Edit: Bold clarifications. The new bootloader will only boot ICS, and because the bootloader is locked we're stuck with the new system. (My theory is if we had a signed copy of the old bootloader, we could restore GB with Fastboot, but nobody has it and it can't be produced without Motorola's private key.)
No, I'm pretty sure once you update to ICS, you're stuck with it (Because of the locked bootloader). Doing a factory reset would only wipe all of your data from the ICS OS, not revert the entire phone back to the way it was out of the box (Gingerbread).

Consumers. Can't please them, ever
Never wanted ICS in the first place, so I wasn't one to ***** about not getting it. It simply told me there was an update for my phone-it did not tell me this was a MAJOR release or a new version. Sure hope Moto puts an option to revert in there next update. I don't know why they wouldn't?? I mean its not gonna hurt anything.
Using the Sunspider browser benchmark tests, I was getting ~1800 on Gingerbread and ~1600 on ICS. Lower scores are better. I couldn't imagine going back.
