The "Missed Call Reminder" app works with BLN when you miss a call.
To set it up
1. Check the "Missed Call" check box
2. Go to "Call Reminder Settings" and set the LED color to "White"
3. Go to "Call Reminder Settings" and uncheck "Screen On"
This probably works for SMS and MMS too, but I did not bother to test it out since I already have those setup with Handcent SMS.

Hello guys!
I installed Handcent sms and even I stopped default sms notification and forced stop to the default client itself, I still receive two sms notifications on status bar. Had to disable the one notification supported by Handcent and now is only the default one on which when I click- the Handcent client appears. Once I quit from Handcent, the icon is still on status bar, altough I've read the sms and have to close it via "close notifications" button...very annoying..
How to get rid the default sms notification?
Open "Messages"
Click MENU
Select SETUP
Uncheck "Notifications" - scroll down
Enable HANDCENT notification
You should now get only 1 notification

That was exactly what I did and still get two notifications..
Go to settings >apps >manage apps> messages > force stop!
Go into the default Messages app and make sure to disable Auto-retrieve (this will also help improve battery life)
Hi guys -
I'm trying to set up Tasker and Ringleader Pro to make my Handcent SMS vibrate turn off when the phone is sitting on my desk.
Long story short, it doesn't work.
It looks like Handcent doesn't respect the phone's vibrate settings. The only options for Handcent to vibrate are "Always", "never", and "Only when device is set to vibrate".
Clearly when Vibrate is set to "Always" or "Never", Handcent will vibrate upon SMS receipt, well, always or never.
I have the phone set to vibrate "only when not in silent mode", which I would think means the phone is currently set to vibrate. But Handcent won't vibrate.
Am I stuck?
Dude! This bugged me too! The thing is this, go into a message thread you have already read our whatever, hit the gears up in the right top corner, and select the vibrate option you want. It is set to "on" for each contact and the only way to change it is this way...lame but that's how it is done...
I'm finding I'm missing loads of text messages & would love it if the phone would alert me repeatedly until I finally notice the sms and read it.
I have dug around the phones menus but with no luck. Not sure if I'm just missing it as I'm new to Android (loving It).
Is their a setting to enable this feature or will I just have to choose a longer/louder sms notification sound.
Thanks.
use handcent SMS, you can set how long the phone should vibrate, and I also recommend NoLED

Thanks, I'll take a look at those.
also SMS Popup, which I prefer to Handcent...
Thanks, gonna have a play around with both and see which i prefer.
SMS!Alert
You can try SMS!Alert.
Allow you to create custom alerts based on SMS messages, enter a incoming phone number and/or keyword filter, when someone sends a SMS with the keyword filter text or if incoming phone number matches, phone will display sound alert.
Is it possible?
As further info, I have set it to vibrate at incoming calls but I can't set it to not vibrate in incoming SMS.
My bank sends me SMS each time my credit card is used. Many companies charge my card at the beginning of the day (i.e. 00:01 hours) and that time I am on bed and the vibration annoys me.
When I go to message settings there is no option for vibration, only ringtone settings, which I have set to silent.
When I open the message app and go to settings I have an option "Also vibrate when notified". That's the stock messaging app on 2.3.6.
Archer, thanks for replying. I am on 2.3.3 and there is no such setting. Can you tell me under which tab do you see it?

It's just the stock messaging app. I go into settings and scroll down to the bottom.
I have tried several times to disable the "unknown caller" notification which lets you save the number, or block it if it's a spam caller.
If I swipe short on the notification, it will let me disable the "Standard" category, but if I enter notifications settings, all sliders are disabled in the Dialer app notifications.
When I disable the Standard notifications in the notification shade, the dialer will stop notifying me for an hour or so, but then the notification comes back.
Has anyone had any luck disabling this, or should I just consider it a "feature"?
