We need tablet mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

This link was in another thread here, i wanted to bring some more attention to it in hopes some like minded/talented people would take notice.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543892
We need something like this on the note, everything works great at 213 dpi except our launchers, if anyone can take nova or apex or trebuchet or something and port it to our screen size and 213dpi this phone will be reborn again
im willing to donate to anyone who takes this task on as im sure many others will be as well.

I would donate for this too.

What we need is a bounty thread to help get more devs motivated to port AOSP to our Note. Just like DAGr8 said in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25067669&postcount=2161

Maybe I'm wrong but I keep hearing that true aosp will be almost untouchable without a kernel source. But I would like it as well.

I have already been in talks about creating a bounty thread for this with the mods and i got the go ahead. Keep an eye out for it. When i get it up please consolidate all posts to that one thread.
Please take all the discussion here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608701

[SERVICE] Requesting Setups

Hey guys. I am a pretty big enthusiast when it comes to theming my Galaxy Player. I just love to do it. And in my time of theming android, I've seen people with amazing screens and I tell myself, "I will stop at nothing until I get that setup the way I want it. " And usually, I end up with the results I want. And I bet heavy theme addicts have also thought the same thing. Well here, I am posting because I want to help in some way. If you see a setup somewhere that you really like, or have seen some of my setups, post them here on this thread with a link to where you saw the setup and I will try MY HARDEST to replicate them and actually TELL YOU how I got it to look that way. If this is successful, then I will continue to keep this service going with possibly more themers like me joining in helping me out. I will have this service for both the Galaxy Player 5.0 INTL/USA/KOR AND Galaxy Player 4.0 INTL/USA/KOR. And if people don't like this idea, I will happily take this thread down. Thanks guys.
NOTE: Please give as much credit as possible to the artist of the setup you wish me to copycat. Failing to give proper credit will result in you not getting your setup.
NOTE: Please only post setups that are only free. An example, if someone uses a widget locker theme but you don't have widget locker then just don't post it until you buy the app. I have already bought a ton of apps like this and you should too if you really like it.
NOTE: Please do not post warez or I will have to report you. Do not post links or files related to cracking apks either.
Thanks and I hope you guys enjoy my service!!! Starting tomorrow I will be posting my current setups once a week every Friday. I am constantly on the move. Thanks again!

Wanted to let everyone know that I have been making videos for the community for a year now. I'm very excited to share these videos with you all!!
What to expect:
I have videos coming out every week and this will make it easier for those of you who can't seem to find a ROM that you like or perhaps want to know what ROM features are in them. You will be able to see those features and decide for yourself which ROM FITS YOU BEST!!! I will be showing quadrants from some ROMs as well as other SCORES like linpack, nenamark and other benchmarks. Just let me know what you would like to see. I do many different types of phones and ROMS so anything you want to see or know let me know.
I also have a NOOB TUTORIAL coming out that will explain how to ROOT and add ROMS to your phone STEP BY STEP EASY INSTRUCTIONS!

Tutorials are sorely lacking around here. I'm fairly technically savvy, much moreso than the average person. But even for me it's pretty daunting for somebody that's relatively new to rooting and flashing ROMs to actually follow through with it. Most of the step by step guides require a masters in Android before you can even understand them. Between kernels, radios, AOSP/AOKP, CWM/TWRP, nandroid, dalvik, Odin, GAPPS, format/wipe, different kinds of backups... it's pretty crazy. I know it sounds so simple to people who are familiar with it, but trust me, to many people it's not. Especially with a device that costs so much money and you have to make sure everything is compatible with one another. The developers in here do a great job of creating a ton of this stuff to use but it doesn't seem like the most welcoming place for beginners or "n00bs". Seems most questions or problems are treated by saying "you didn't read enough" or "you screwed up" which isn't very helpful. Part of the problem is that guides and tutorials become obsolete and out of date so quickly, yet people don't want to give new advice because something similar is covered in a 6+ month old tutorial.
So long story short... any new tutorials are welcome! I'm considering rooting and putting liquid JB on my Note but feel like it's safer to just wait for the stock upgrade at this point. I "upgraded" my old HTC Magic back in the Cupcake/Donut days to a CM build with new radios/kernels/SPLs or something, and could never un-do it and ended up making the phone useless.
Another excellent thread ....
With your permission I'll gladly add this into the super thread.
It is tireless work like this, that sets the note section apart as the Premier place to be.
I have every intention of using the note 1 for several years to come for the very reason I stated above.
The members and contributors are beyond compare ...
Many thanks ....g

This is the development section as you can read on the forum title. There is a question and answer section where you can post this. The moderators are trying to keep the dev section as clean add possible
I sure hope so that they will.. but I don't know

this is over the top trolling.. even for me
If you want a fully functioning ICS, go ahead and develop one since you seem to know all the ins and outs of developing. Props to you when you do!
It would be better for you to donate to devs like th3_bill instead of posting threads like this. They ARE doing the work, and a LOT of work too! I am for one very appreciative of that. The issue lies with Motorola for doing the unspeakable.
No need to talk with noise, you didn't understand what I mean...The wrong way I asked the question. I just wanted to know if it's good enough factory rom from which it started to get it all done properly. Developers are great, I did not want anyone to offend anyone. Excuse me a lot because I did not have that intention.I live in Serbia and I can only say that I send full support for ALL developers.
Please close this thread...

If you want it now, do it yourself.

The new update and the challenge for devs.

This is just a thought but instead of making a bounty why didnt we just let them split the money. I mean the bounty will make devs want to work alone. They will feel rushed and it wont get done anytime soon. I feel like splitting the money with everyone who really participates in the unlocking of the phobe should get a reward. Instead of working alone. We should all help them and get them to work together to get this done.

Id imagine the root Dev group is similar to the ROM Dev groups. We generally talk to one another and share info openly. That said if I was working with a group at all I personally would feel wrong taking all the money and it would definitely be split up at the end.
But I'm not them so I don't know how they would handle it
sent from my GE gs4
Yeah i agree. I would feel the same if i were to work with a ROM group.. Or even be in a group with people.. Or talk to people. but i just felt like now it seems more like an individual challenge then getting it done faster as a group. But maybe they do work like that. I just hope it comes soon because im losing it already btw its my first day of being with the update. Im already cracking. :banghead::banghead:

What is the best miui out there with everything working?

I would like to know what the best miui Rom is out there for the htc amaze, with camera and everything working?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Well, there is definitely no "best ROM". It is all down to preference really. Developers and XDA don't like best ROM threads since it gets some of us mad because we sometimes feel people are treating us like their slaves. That causes some to quit, and without developers, there'd be no XDA!
Check them all out and see which you like. There's a couple of MIUI threads in the development section. You'll find what you want by reading the,. Most of them do have camera working, and a bunch of stuff. All non-Sense 3.6 ROMS are a work in progress and have not been 100% bug free and likely won't because stupid HTC doesn't release the complete source code!
Hope this helps.

Yeah you should flash 'em all. It's just like pokemon when you think about it. The one that suits you best would be the one to use daily. :good:
Closing thread
There is absolutely no such thing as the absolute perfect or "Best ROM". A custom ROM is all about personal preference, hence the name custom. When you customize something you are generally making it more pleasing to yourself or more usable by you. To compare ROMs is like comparing framing hammers. One may fit your hand better, one may be easier to grip, one may have a straight claw, one may have a curved claw, the point is you would choose the one that suits you best to use everyday. The same goes with custom ROMs the "Best ROM" for you will be the one that best benefits you and gives you features you like. Now just because you like the ROM and it's features not all will. We are humans and humans are going to have disagreements. But arguing over what is the "Best ROM" should not be one of the reasons why as there is no such thing as the 'Best ROM". So this thread is being closed as it is a discussion that will never reach a definitive conclusion
