Why N1, Nexus S is available and better,
or Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC ( release date: April )
Nexus one is an awsome device.. I own one
But it has the same touch screen capability as X10 ---- > Dual touch
Considering the timely updates you get with nexus one... I think it is best bet.
I would recommend Nexus S
Well i bought a nexus one from google when they were available and it wasnt to long before i got rid of it for the X10 and havent regretted it yet.
Thats my thoughts.

how would you judge the two phones when it comes to the x10's 8megpix ??
xperia x10 with the all modifications.. same as Nexus S..
I wouldn't recommend nexus one because you are just exchanging for a pure Google experience product. Megapixel doesn't determine picture quality. Its all about the lens, sensor, and image processing software. Pix quality of course x10 is better than nexus one.
Go for nexus S or wait longer for dual core devices. X10 doesn't have Froyo and Nexus S's hardware doesn't perform as good as the hummingbird CPU in Nexus S.

How long have you have your X10? I wouldn't change it before "squeezing" all its potential.
My advise: keep it at least one more half of a year, and then start looking for your next phone. Now, if you can't wait and if you wish to keep in SE's line, Arc is your option, but for me, is not a great phone, I only remark the Bravia Displa, Gingerbread and the HDMI plug-in, anything else is not a big deal.
Or Nexus S.
hey guys... thanks a lottt...
ive been using the x1 only fr about a few months..
tried out most of the roms out there
guys.. but dont you think the nexus one is worth it ?? its htc after all
plus... the AMOLED.. n when it comes to updates ????
comments pls
Correct me if i am wrong, but i remember nexus one have an exact same proc with x10, which mean it's not actually an upgrade if you change your x10 into a nexus one. The only better thing is RAM. --in terms of hardware.
If I where you, I'd try and remember why you bought the X10 in the first place. I mean, the Nexus One was already available when you bought your X10, so obviously it has some qualities that made you choose it in the first place. I am guessing it was the look of the device, and the camera, right? Those are the X10's biggest distinguishing features, so I would like for another Android device that comes close to those.
As far as camera is concerned, there probably is no better Android available yet. Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S is the next best thing in this regard?
As far as looks is concerned, nothing really comes close yet, in my opinion. Although I really like the way the HTC Desire Z looks for some reason (and I don't normally like HTC designs, too boring).
But why are we even talking about these old phones? Next month it's time for the Mobile World Congress 2011, during with numerous new Android phones will be introduced and some will even be released by then, with brand new hardware like dual core processors and new versions of Android that will make our current phones look really outdated. Right now seems like a bad time to switch to another phone: I would wait for just a little while longer.

no need to get N1, its the same gen as X10
if u want the best current gen phone then get HTC Desire HD / HTC Desire Z
the dual core phones will take a bit of time (3+ months) to come to market...
The Nexus One is ugly.
Stay with the X10 until dual core phones come out.

Honestly, it doesnt even seem like a question to me. Especially with the new roms that are wiping the floor with the other current gen phones. Just sayin.

If one is a color purist like me, then the AMOLED screens are a DISADVANTAGE, actually. And it's going to stay that way until a new-gen AMOLED arrives which doesn't mess with the saturations.
hello ! I want to buy a new android phone . I am considering X10 and Neo . It is difficult to choose . X10 has a 4' mon , cool looks , yet it only has 320MB ram and a unreal dual touch . otherwise , Neo has larger ram and a real dual touch but 3.7' mon and normal looks . but XDA also does lots of things with X10 (2.3 ROM , BOOTLOADER ), but Neo not .
I don't know how to choose between them .could you help me ?
( I'm from Hong Kong , however my English is so poor , i hope that you can understand what i say and forgive me . Thank you )
I'd get the neo since it's newer and will have an unlocked bootloader. Also the chipset is newer and better. It will receive much further updates why go with an older model if you don't have to? Unless maybe the price diff is substantial. I bought mine a couple months ago, and only because I got it used for 200.

X10 all the way.
SE are releasing official android 2.3.3 this year and the the devs at xda have recently bypassed the bootloader so custom kernals are on the way.
Very exciting times for X10!!!

I am afraid that the devs of X10 at XDA will not keep going to develop X10 ... and ram don't enough to run android ....
Neo definately. Sure the X10 is getting 2.3.3, but thats it. And yes, the X10 bootloader is cracked, not unlocked. The neo is newer and will recieve more attention, plus with an unlocked bootloader, which many devs will do wonders.
I would say the Neo is the right choice but I doubt it will get attention from SE

I'd say go for Neo,
Its newer with many capabilities,
16M color, true Multitouch, Bravia Engine, and 2.3.3 out of the Box !
Just 3.7" does not make any difference !
For sure Neo is at the starting line and from now on there will be custom roms. It will have open boot loader though.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Go for the NEO for sure, the only question would be how much you want to spend. Obviously the xperia will be cheaper and yes you can play and mess with it, upgrade and install new roms, but like stated before me, the neo comes with 2.3 and its a bit quicker (have not used one personally). Also, if it matters to you, sony will have more upgrades than the xperia. Hopes this helps
Neo is the X10 plus. There will be no doubt that there will be developers developing for the Neo, it's just a matter of time. Plus you will have the better chipset, Exmor camera w/front facing cam, HDMI out, Bravia Screen w/16 Million colors and a fully functioning Gingerbread out of the box. Plus, "support" may be better than the X10.
xperia NEO : it has mulitouch,16m colors,sony bravia engine,8mp camera with led flash,secondary vga camera for videocall,android v2.3 and 1ghz snapdragon processor,FM radio too,HDMI output .
xperia x10 : no multitouch , no 16 m colors , no bravia engine,8 mp camera bt no led flash , no secondary camera for videocall , i knw it will upgrade to 2.3.3 bt still running on 2.1 , no FM radio , no hdmi output .
now u can decide .. this is big different between x10 and neo ..
u should buy NEO instead of x10 ... bcs neo is better thn x10 ..
neo is also good looking smartphone
buy an iphone!! naw im just kidding, dont bash me now
Neo is more powerfull, X10 will be outdated soon or is already...
Obviously Neo is the right choice, but I would go for the Arc

I totally agree with NEO, it is have much better specs than x10, and also latest sony technology(BE Mobile + eXmore<- if i got the spelling right.. )..
screen wouldn't gave much difference since they are almost the same resolution(if I'm not mistaken).
hi guys,
I want to buy new Android budget smartphone. I'm little bit confused in Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Neo V. In Mumbai, India Neo (Rs.15,000) is cheaper than Neo V (Rs.16,500). so, Which one should I buy? Neo or Neo V? I got nothing difference except Camera in both phone. and I heard somewhere that Neo has missing 3D sweep panorama feature. So guys help me to get a new phone.
Thank You in advance!
The only difference is camera and size of sd card that comes with device... (Neo 8GB, Neo V 2GB)
Sent from my MT15i - Xperia Neo
Neo V should be cheaper than Neo,in here Neo costs extra 50-60 $ than Neo V(Neo V is the best thing I can find for around 290-300$ range). And Neo V will get ICS update 1st xD
Neo V is a great phone, only bad thing is you will need to buy an after market headset if you are into music lot. Also an equalizer app too since built in equalizer is just crap
Neo as better cam, and better support on unofficial rom (CM9 support).
Go for neo, they are the same in everything but the camera... and neo exmor lens are great!

Only Neo V was officially released in India, so the Neo is an imported piece being sold without a waranty. If you are fine with foregoing the warranty then Neo is the better phone.
I think the neo v, he is newer and get the ICS first, so the difference is only the camera so who cares, the neo have 3 mp more so thats no problem, they have both exmor quality, the neo v is a fine phone, i glad with this phone, but people must make thier own choice, Neo and the Neo V having both of them good quality, good performence and all of that
Neo hasn't been officially launched in India so you will not get any warranty from SE for it in India.. If you can forgo the warranty then Neo is the best deal....

If it's old doesn't mean it's bad.
Anw, screen is down to each person individual. In my opinion SGS2's screen looks bad, when I look at it, it's like unreal, to colorful.
Maybe it have better black, maybe it drain less power, but I would always pick (S)LCD before (S)AMOLED(plus), and as I say, it's down to each person
Everything I look on my NeoV is nice and real.
Amoled is nothing anymore if sony comes with Oled full HD
Hi guys this is my first post. as to the topic, ill go with neo since it has better camera, here in my country neo is also not officially released but i still bought neo since i believe sony produce well built products. i already unlocked my bootloader and flash several roms and my neo is still working fine. ill sacrifice warranty over a better cam!

Why sacrificing warranty for better cam? It's not like custom rom's make camera better. Creators of custom roms are having hard time to implement even default drivers in their roms, so no modded drivers in custom roms.
Someone correct me(with link) if I'm wrong.

you didnt get my point here.
were talking about neo and neo v,since neo is not officially release in his country and mine, im willing to sacrifice warranty (a 5 megapixel versus 8 megapixel with xmor)
okay lets put it this way:
neo v - 5 megapixel w/o xmor with official SE warranty
neo - 8 megapixel with exmor but w/o SE warranty.
that is in our country. and about custom roms, what im trying to say is that sony hardware are well built so its okay for me to sacrice warranty.

The Neo V offers absolutely nothing over the Neo AND has a worse camera.

The only warranty one can get for an unofficial device is the dealer/seller warranty which is absolutely useless. It is highly unlikely that official Sony service centres will ever service your device and if they do it will cost a bomb.

To be more precise, I'm in between taking a Galaxy S3 Mini:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-5033.php
And a Desire X:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_x-4951.php
Alternatively, I could invest more and buy the Sony Xperia Acro S:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_acro_s-4781.php
So...which one should I choose?
I'm more interested in the risks of bricking one of these.(To be more precise: To which one of them I'd have the higher chance of accidentally doing this. I already screwed my Defy+, and don't wanna try again with a Motorola, I'm already sick of my phone.).
Desire X is way better than galaxy s III mini, the build quality is better than the plastic of the galaxy, and Sense UI is a lot easier to use and nice and smooth. I personally like the HTC design better than the Samsung design, and the webbrowser and camera is IMO smoother and feature fuller than the Samsung's apps
And about the ROM's, desire X just has one custom rom(yet), I don't know about the mini.

Acro S all the way, it's much better than DX or SIII mini... And it has official CM support so why even consider the other 2?

Yeah but with HTC you can unlock it trough HTCDev.com, won't let you flash kernels trough cwm, but will make it possible to flash ROMs
You can unlock Sony and enable fastboot officially unless its carrier locked on the Acro S

Both phones here have the same price.
I like the looks of both phones, my hands arent big. I like J big screen, im ok with 3.5 but what worries me that its 16:9 aspect ratio, wich means its longer and less wider then analog 3.5 inch screen size phones (iphone, galaxy ace).
J doesnt have such good camera as i see in reviews and only 1ghz CPU.
Despite the fact that U doesnt have mSD expansion slot, im ok with that, if i need more gbs i might just use OTG cable with usb stick.
So what is your suggestion?
maybe some of you already had expierience with both phones?
how is performance of both phones compared to each other? video playback? dvix video playback (with decoders installed)?
Go for Xperia j. At least the chip set has sufficient sources for devs to port the latest os. Users like me who are using Xperia p/u/go/sola are struggling to get a working jellybean from coz of poor support from the chipset maker St Ericsson. So if u care about having the latest os go for Xperia j but if u want a better camera and display and an extra core go for Xperia u
