To be more precise, I'm in between taking a Galaxy S3 Mini:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-5033.php
And a Desire X:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_x-4951.php
Alternatively, I could invest more and buy the Sony Xperia Acro S:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_acro_s-4781.php
So...which one should I choose?
I'm more interested in the risks of bricking one of these.(To be more precise: To which one of them I'd have the higher chance of accidentally doing this. I already screwed my Defy+, and don't wanna try again with a Motorola, I'm already sick of my phone.).
Desire X is way better than galaxy s III mini, the build quality is better than the plastic of the galaxy, and Sense UI is a lot easier to use and nice and smooth. I personally like the HTC design better than the Samsung design, and the webbrowser and camera is IMO smoother and feature fuller than the Samsung's apps
And about the ROM's, desire X just has one custom rom(yet), I don't know about the mini.
Sent from my HTC Desire X, alias DA BOMB
Acro S all the way, it's much better than DX or SIII mini... And it has official CM support so why even consider the other 2?
And unless your a complete über n00b it's really hard to brick... Just make sure you get the SIM unlocked version
Just my opinion

Acro S.
For begining users : samsung, no hesitations. But for people gonna to test their knoweldge : HTC .
Acro s unlocked anyday but the problem with HTC and Sony is locked bootloader

Yeah but with HTC you can unlock it trough HTCDev.com, won't let you flash kernels trough cwm, but will make it possible to flash ROMs
You can unlock Sony and enable fastboot officially unless its carrier locked on the Acro S
Sent from my liquid_tenderloin using XDA Premium HD app
but once you unlock it officially you cant reclaim warranty by flashing stock f/w unlike samsung
Go for Nexus 4. Its a nexus device, so the development will be infinite!!

For that matter even galaxy nexus would do nicely if it's available

Hi all I am about to get an upgrade on my phone which do you think I should go for
Thanks for your opinions in advance

Well, what do you want from your new handset?
The S II no doubt has an abundance of rom's and that sort of thing. And won't be as badly crippled by the manufacturer as our phone was.
But if you get the Arc, you can rip the sounds out of it and post them here..

getting the Arc on monday.
i think its a good choice
Depends on personal taste.
And still the Arc is a good choice.

i would have chosen sgs2 no doubts!! some web pages still consider it as the best phone over ios 4s, galaxy nexus, sensation or last motorola razr... yesterday i was looking for thus stuff in google the only one which is better estimated is the newest xperia s, because of its camera, screen and other things... moreover continuing with sgs 2 if u want to root it or flash roms there are a lot of possibilities... if not official ics is coming soon... im thinking of getting it next week if i negotiate well with my phone cpmpany however arc is also good phone and i think sony confirmed it would update to ics too. ohh!! if i get it of course ill keep my 10 mini till its last days
guys i really need ur help!
which is a better option?
desire s or htc one v?
I've heard the desire has better battery life as well as a solid developers thread..do you have any specs? Personally, my next phone will have camera flash and more ram...I hope the sgs3 will have camera flash.I haven't read anything about the upgrade though lets hope it rolls out with ICS 4.0.4

one v is not bad right, developer community wont be a problem.. since its a htc..

Desire S if you get it at a lower price than HTC One V.
HTC One V if you want always to be on the top in OS.
Loving the desire a, but it's over a year old, quality developer support, believe that it has more ram than v, plus removable battery and sd card
Currently running ics, although still waiting for HTC to release official ics along with source code for kernel 3.0

ok, so i have a question, it's time to renew my contract, wich phone shall i choose: sony xperia neo v or motorola motoluxe, both phones have about the same specs. seems that moto m don't have a thread on xda. what is your opinion?
No brainer, the motolux runs 800mhz..... Neo runs 1024 can be oc to ,1800
Moto will never unlock the bl for a low end device, because of the spec of the phone and the bl unlikely to have much of a dev attraction so if you want custom roms neo is the way.
Also Se have a better history of software updates, moto will maybe do one but it will take months and still suck.
And no I don't hate moto, their hardware is great, their policies suck

Bro...why would i migrate from one mid-range to another? If i have to retire my neoV...wont i buy an upgraded phone? Note 2 is my desired phone...and by the time i would be able to spend 35-40k...there would be another samsung flagship in market...so am just waiting.

Lolz. I bet ull hate samsung. Nd xperia devices jst rock. Although service centres r irritating ones nd ppl der r dumb, bt xperia phones have caliber of dng everything a smartphone can do, example take galaxy s2 it has much better processor then neo v but its stl on ics that also 4.0.3. I guess it was a high end phone. samsung updates only its new flagships asap by d tym u buy note 2 , note 3 will b in market or s4.. Then ur note 2 will stay on jb no longer updates if dey come they ll come rarely. Nd ace plus same processor like neo v and samsung promises jb for it. I wonder hw it ll support jb..

Okk...if you guys say so...i will think about it.
Actually the thing is...updates to a newer android version don't matter if your hardware can't handle it good...what matters is the current firmware should be so refined to exploit the phone's resources at its best...what's the point of adding new features when the basic functionality is suffering.
In our case...our device lacks ram and is single cored...let's put aside the core thing...it simply struggles for ram in ICS and JB. And whatever hardwork teams like cyanogenmod may put into it...they can't provide full functionality that OEM provides...so in my opinion...maintainance updates are much significant...as they bring to you a better phone...not just a new interface with crippled functionality.
You may add various tweaks and improve the firmware to your liking...but the overall experience will not be as the OEM intended to be.
The precis is...even if a manufacturer doesn't update to the latest android version...it provides maintainance updates which are crucial...and samsung does it...and besides the updates...its phones are already loaded with functionality...and a phone with quad-core cpu and 2gb ram is more than sufficient unless one intends to carry a PC in his pocket...which is always thethered to the power outlet.
And the complains about exynos...they have been acknowledged by samsung.
And those who say Sony has ditched 2011 devices...sony has already supported us for long to the extent our devices can handle...it gave us ICS despite the limited resources our device has. And being a global company...it too has to survive. It has to concentrate on the competition. Accusing it of abandoning us is totally unfair. There was no lifetime commitment sony had signed with you...you bought the device and sony supported it as long as the device needed it.
Dont think of me as an advocate for sony...i am simply pointing to the fact that whatever firmware is on the phone...it should be perfect in utilizing phone's resources...not a burden on the phone's head.
Pheeewwwww..........sorry...too long a debate.
These are only my views...those who differ in opinion...simply ignore.

Thanks mate...i have already read your thread...and before that i have tried swap on system of about 150mb...multitasking becomes awsome but whatever media you use for swap...be it SDcard/nand...its life degrades eventually.
And i am not that well off to replace my card every 4months...and not to mention the terrible performance hit when the trade over takes place.
Thats why zram is better.
And i think any ram size below 1gb is inadequate for android 4+.
We have cast away from the thread's topic...my apologies guys...continue the original topic.

Both phones here have the same price.
I like the looks of both phones, my hands arent big. I like J big screen, im ok with 3.5 but what worries me that its 16:9 aspect ratio, wich means its longer and less wider then analog 3.5 inch screen size phones (iphone, galaxy ace).
J doesnt have such good camera as i see in reviews and only 1ghz CPU.
Despite the fact that U doesnt have mSD expansion slot, im ok with that, if i need more gbs i might just use OTG cable with usb stick.
So what is your suggestion?
maybe some of you already had expierience with both phones?
how is performance of both phones compared to each other? video playback? dvix video playback (with decoders installed)?
Go for Xperia j. At least the chip set has sufficient sources for devs to port the latest os. Users like me who are using Xperia p/u/go/sola are struggling to get a working jellybean from coz of poor support from the chipset maker St Ericsson. So if u care about having the latest os go for Xperia j but if u want a better camera and display and an extra core go for Xperia u

Check gsm arena user comments ... i've read that many users are complaining of lag after update to JB in case of xperia j.
Go for xperia j you will get official jellybean along with xloud bravia engine that won't present in custom jb roms...
Go for xperia U. Im using it and am loving it. First off its much better looking than J. The LED bar at the bottom really adds to its beauty. Also the specs of U are much better than that of J. You will have trouble running even slightly heavy applications and games on the J

That was to be expected of a single core 1 Ghz phone with an adreno 200 GPU. My 3 year old xperia x10 had the same specs and I had trouble running GB on it

altough i still do not hear strong points for xperia J.
As i see ICS from JB isnt much different, so OS isnt an issue if its not older then ICS
What about 3.5 inch screen? how does it feel comparing to iphone or ace or any other 3.5?
