Sprint being sued by NYC for tax evasion - HTC EVO 3D

I came across this article and thought I'd share it here since I didn't see it posted any where.

Sprint has been sued in almost every state for tax fraud. I remember in Texas they were making customers pay some fake tax 18 months before it was even legal to do so then they claimed, "oh we're just making sure the billing system works" of course after millions of dollars of extra profit they DID GET TO KEEP! none of it went back to customers. Sprint thinks they are above the law. I personally think that the CEO should be put on TV and shot in the head for his crimes against the country as an example. Big CEOs think they can comment crimes then hide behind their corp and act like they knew nothing about it.

"the road of life is rocky, and you may stumble too, so while you point your finger, someone else is judging you."
Google + pertinent info = results

Shot in the head is a little far.
But CEO folks get away with alot of crime...blue collar crime theft = 5 to 10 years and effed up employment history...white collar crime = 3 to 6 months at club fed or house arrest and a seat on the board of another company you get to eff up

Anbody notice how you order a phone from sprint it shows price without tax on the bill even though you pay price with tax and shipping. Why wouldn't they show it on the bill? Online its showing it but the Paper statement doesn't?

Well I went to my local Sprint store today and asked the employee there about pre-ordering the Evo 3d, he said they weren't taking pre-orders and he hasn't heard anything about when they will take pre-orders. Cool
Yeah until an official email goes out I think it's just a hit or miss between stores. I'm getting worried though. June 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th (some speculation dates I've heard) are all right around the corner and still no word!
I want to know why they wont give a dang price. I dont wanna pre order something when I dont know how much its gonna cost.

Id say a safe estimate is no more than $300 with full upgrade eligibility. Is that too much? Also, preordering does not lock you into the purchase so who cares?

Some stores might not be doing it yet but the store in Lafayette, Louisiana is. I just pre ordered 2. 1 for me 1 for wifey. Paid 100 bucks and got back a yellow sprint card.
The manager said I was the first guy to come in and ask about them. He seemed to know exactly what was going on and processed my payment really fast.

I think what is likely the case is what was mentioned in another thread - corporate stores seem to know the situation while the non corp stores do not. Might not be an airtight assumption but seems to have some clout to it.

you think it'd really be necessary for a pre order? Unless you are really into cell phones and tech, most people don't even know this phone exists. I can't see them being endangered of selling out or anything opening weekend. I could be wrong.
The evo4g was on backorder for weeks after it was released in my area, heck even my touch pro was oos for a week+ on release. Those purchases were done through a corporate sprint store so im sure they were available at other places but people who want to go through sprint will probably need a preorder if they want it soon.

Last year there were about 15 people waiting outside of radio shack at 545 who didn't pre order the evo. RS only had about 5 that weren't spoken for by pre orders. If you want to be safe and get one on day 1, I strongly recommend you pre order.

When i pre ordered the guy had to read me a list of things and we basically had a convo about it . He says for the evo there was like 30 people at 7 am. So if the store theoretically got 100 phones alltogether....and 90 ppl pre ordered and 5 came into get it and i didnt get out of work till 4 pm to come get mine id be **** out of luck and have to wait a couple more weeks. He says chances are slim but it could happen. I pretty much stated the same thing you said to him but he seems to think it will be popular to non-techy people too right off the bat.

Info from my local sprint store

Stopped by just to confirm my pre order since i had not received any confirmation. I asked the manager if he had any information on a release date, and he said the store "advocate" was in last week to teach the sales reps about the phone. He said usually when this happens it's a month or less to launch date, but he had no specific date at this point. He confirmed i was on the preorder list and they will call me as soon as any phones come in. Should be very soon i would imagine.

Yes, if it falls in the right hands. But most likely it will be a ota update for all of the Evo 3D. I think its too much of a hassle to unlock them first because the phone is releasing June 5th. MY OPINION DON'T TELL ME TO GO GET AN IPHONE, that joke is old, redundant, and futile.

That seems off.
store here in palo alto, ca have not had the trainings yet. They are usually about a week before release.
The guys I know at the two corporate stores locally (I used to be a sprint employee)
one of them's an ASM and the other a Lead Rep at the other location, neither of there store's have the 3D in nor info on the advocate program.
I can tell you tho that if its getting advocated yet, you'll see leaks on the net guaranteed and also, its true, once they go advocate its normally sub 1 month to release, more like 2 weeks..
But I can't confirm, I can tell you tho that the store I used to work at is a Top 100 in the enterprise and are pretty much first on the list to get/know whats up.
so /shrug no idea, hope so, but unconfirmed so far.
I was told June 4th when I placed my preorder at a sprint store, same day they were doing training

We all have to realize there are two types of people that work at sprint stores. People that are there that just do the job and tech junkies like us. Therefore, I believe everybody that says June 4th are people that read the forums like us. I really do hope it is June 4th but with little info and nothing in the FCC we will most likely be waiting a little longer.

I just have trouble believing that they wouldn't announce the release date more than a week prior to the date. June 4th is one week away, and it seems unlikely to me that it will launch less than one week after they announce it. I hope they do though!

So this lawsuit will proceed, palms will get greased, the merger will eventually go through. Then there is the facade of due process. If they just let it pass there would be a lot of noise. But quickly going at it in court, for show, will appease most people. "Hey, they went to court and the court found blah blah blah, it must be better than I thought." World keeps on turnin'.

SMH.... Read around bro, please, for the benefit of yourself and the greater good. Don't be a Sucker.
Also: check att's leaked documents regarding the merger. Shows how what you are looking for won't happen as they dont actually intend on doing it.... Quite the opposite.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Actually thought it said they intend on doing it. I the point of the leaked doc was that so far at has said they can't do it without tmobile. But in the doc it showed the cost for att to do the buildout and it was extremely less than the price they are paying for tmobile. This creates a problem and shows they are doing the merger for other reasons than the main one stated which is a big no no.
If the deal still goes through rest assured that there will be some big restrictions or stipulations surrounding it now.

Beware of Sprint 100$ "credit"

If you accept the credit it will extend your contract for another year. reps at the store wont tell you though upgrade date will remain the same though but if u thinking bout leaving don't take the credit
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
how do i get this 100 credit havent heard anything about it. I dont plan on leaving sprint anytime soon so why not if it dosnt effect my upgrade date.
most credits or discounts do this, that's why you do them at the start of a contract not in the middle or towards the end
Uh, the whole point of the credit is to get you to resign your contract, do you seriously expect $100 credit for nothing?
It might be that your rep is shady and was misguiding you about this, but it's always how it's been.
I just want to find out about this credit. I havent heard anything about it. And i am more then willing to add a year to my contract if it dose not effect my upgrade. I mean i love the photon but in 20 months i am sure i will want something new to play with.

+1 when they killed premier that was all I needed to realize I'll be paying full price for phones and not signing any more contracts. The benefit of the contract is 100% one sided for the carrier. Where's my benefit? Them subsidizing $200 but charging me $350 if I wanted to leave?
Im curious what the OP believed the reason for the $100 was. I can't imagine someone would think a cell company, or any company for that matter, is giving away $100 no strings or expectations.

Hey I'm all for it if it helps catch "bad guys" and junk. If you're not doing anything illegal who cares. Do what ya gotta do to catch the jerks. I for one am sick and tired of people getting away with junk, it's ultimately costing all of us.
It's worth noting that there's nothing in the article that indicates that they don't have similar orders in place for other carriers. The Verizon order is the one that leaked, but it would seem that given the breadth of the order, it's probably not VZW specific. The others just haven't been leaked at this point.
I don't personally lose a lot of sleep over this, but I can understand the concern on this. I do think that an order this broad is excessive.
I'm sure it's not just Verizon
I love the "if you're not doing anything, nothing to worry about" argument. No, I'm not doing anything. And it's because of that fact that no one should be building a database on who I call and for how long and where. People just don't get it... How far will it go? When does it stop? Should every person walking the streets be subject to search at any given time because "we might get a bad guy"
Sorry, but I don't do anything wrong. I'm a simple family man who enjoys sports and tech. And I am bothered by my government spying on me and my fellow citizen for no reason at all.
The article states, the conversations weren't recorded, but that's next. And how would you feel if some computer somewhere is recording you talking dirty to your wife? Or whatever, insert whatever you want there.
This isn't right. And it's scary.

Of course it will probably go no where because of the federal wire tap law hu ha bull****.
This Country that we are growing up in and supporting with our taxes cares not about us but soley about is control of the country.
Oddly enough Verizon most likely never put up a fight to this. Verizon license their air waves from the federal government.. as with their lte service and upcoming aws service they are leasing it from the govt. Makes since if you think about it..
Govt. Says if you want the best airwaves from us to Make you the number one provider we expect from you in return to allow us to collect millions of users call data ..

Well that's all I got for now till the govt. Pisses me off again

All airwaves are "leased" from the FCC. I deal with radio communications. Fire and law enforcement were pushed onto the 800MHz spectrum about 10 years ago. Now the FCC wants them to move to the 700MHz spectrum so they can lease the 800MHz to cell phone carriers. Tax payers pay for the equipment needed to make this change which isn't cheap.
All the complaints I heard about google snooping on your WiFi are nothing compared to our own government snooping on every spectrum out there. No communication is sacred unless it is face to face.
The extreme would be to go back to basics of a land line so your location couldn't be tracked. And not using any social media sites or forums. How far are you willing to go?

Maybe this all a scheme to get us back to using snail mail. That would boost the USPS revenues! /Sarcasm off

There's a difference between whistleblowers and people who just dump classified info.

What I find more disturbing is how ok a lot of people are with our constitutional rights being blatantly violated by the government under the guise of they might catch a boogeyman. The point isn't "if I'm not doing anything wrong, I have nothing to worry about, so I don't care". The point is the lower level implications that the government is wiretapping us without a warrant for us individually without just cause. They cannot do that according to the constitution, and there should be impeachment implications over it AFAIC. Same goes for the second amendment. You might not like it, but it is our right - constitutionally - to be able to own firearms. Like I said, I'm troubled by how many people are just ok with our rights be stripped of us. Rights that make us American, that made us the free people we were.
I wonder how much more intrusion, how much more erosion of our rights it is going to take before the American people revolt and tell them to back the eff off. I don't think we are those kinds of people any more sadly. We are not the people with the spine to stand up to big brother to defend our freedoms from an overreaching government. Myself included - I know I don't have that in me.

That is literally the same thing. Bradley Manning dumped classified info. He is labeled a whistleblower. As far as Obama and his admin are concerned, they are one in the same.
The war party started this under Bush with the Patriot Act. U can thank all those who got them in power for what is happening today. Know ur history.

While true, the Patriot Act was extended by congress and signed by the president that is sitting in office right now. They had a chance to let it die, and didn't. Now it is all on them for what we have today from that Patriot Act POS when they should have let it die out.
The government likes to use the argument that "they (we) are still looking for terrorists." This argument is now void. Seriously, we stopped trying to end terrorism years ago. We cannot possibly still think that our government is still trying to do this. They are constantly getting into our private lives like it is nothing.
Look, I am a soldier in the United States Army, and I do not see myself ever going into some senators house and going through his documents because I can. That is exactly what they are doing to me! I have nothing to hide. Just do not go through my personal life. I guarantee that they would not like it if I went through their personal lives. LEAVE MY VERIZON RECORDS ALONE!

dude, are you serious?
learn the facts, and then speak. you just sound ignorant here.
read what badogg said; it's 100% true. all these politicians are exactly the same, and the most disgusting part of it is people like you who claim "oh bush was the bad guy wah wah wah" but then you think it's perfectly okay when obama does it. absolutely pathetic. the citizens of this country are just as much to blame as the government, since they're the ones who voted these idiots in.
