Just carrying on the tradition from the Flip DHD thread started by junta, some of us who will move to the EVO 3D GSM can post and share information here...
I for one can't wait
I'm almost certain. I'll buy it as soon as it hits US/UK shores.
That makes 2 of us buddy!

I hope it will be just the same (or even more) with the DHD case; lots of modified ROMs to choose from and very healthy community.

True... a lot of potential with this one I think I'd be okay with just root for a while with the new OS and Sense version... we'll probably talk about accessories for the most part since battery is more than enough on a non 4g network.

Dual core is more battery efficient as you wont be stressing a single core with all your tasks.
The htc page doesn't say anything about GSM. It USED to, but it was obviously a mistype, considering it was changed to WCDMA 1-2 hours later. And now the specs page is completely gone.

again, read the source. Its pointing to the htc specs page. As I mentioned, the specs page was wrong. When it was first posted it said GSM/WCDMA/LTE/WIMAX. But 1-2 hours after that, it was modified and changed to WCDMA only.

I'm sure this will all be straightened out by HTC soon enough and we'll just see when it finally comes out...
If it turns out to be true, then the plan moves forward and we'll get one as soon as its released. If not, then we still have our DHDs to play with ;-)
Are you just proving the source inaccurate or you're one'a them fellas who don't wanna keep their hopes up?
Update: A pocketnow article kind of confirmed your statement though still aren't convinced that its entirely a mistake.

For what its worth, it may still be under negotiation but if the GSM version wont carry the EVO name, it'll sure be released in a different brand seeing that the flyer (global) was just rebranded to carry the name EVO...

In all probability,HTC PYramid will be the GSM version of HTC Evo 3d....but really this phone deserves a GSM version,i am due for a new android{using N1 for over a year now} in May.
LG Optimus 2X & SGS 2 are already launching here{India} next month,i hope this one gets a GSM version.
I've been trying to Google this and got no results. All the youtubers I asked and all the Google searches I did and I got the same result. The cdma e3d is for the USA and gsm is for the rest of the world...ARRRR! I ALREADY KNOW THAT!
So can someone please explain the internal differences between the cdma and gsm 3d and why can't gsm users flash cdma Roms (if the radio remains untouched). I'm sure I'm not the only 1 wondering why the cdma EVO 3s gets so many more roms than gsm users.
Please don't flame at me if this question has been asked elsewhere.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA App
I was also searching for this and already found out that its kernel related because it has some other drivers and stuff running to maintain the cdma network.
Theres kernel and framework differences. Even if you were to extract a gsm kernel, and put it into a cdma.rom, it still wouldn't work properly. I've looked at the frameworks for both phones, and there was a lot more differences in the code than I had previously anticipated.
The reason there are more cdma roms, is simply because there are more devs/chefs/tweakers that use/have cdma phones.
Also many old & new developers for the CDMA EVO 3D came from the EVO 4G, which had a huge following on the same carrier.
It was like a migration of birds.

Ah, that explains it. I was wondering why there is so much more development going on for the CDMA E3D than the GSM, seeing as how Sprint is the only carrier using the CDMA. Stupid, multiple standards!

I stand by my comment about stupid multiple standards. Get with the rest of the world, U.S. carriers! Stop being different just for the sake of being different.
Now, not knowing anything at all about ROM cooking, will it ever be possible that ROMs for the E3D may be able to support both CDMA and GSM, or is there no way to code that kind of logic?

Well kinda. It's not hard to write the ROM for the gsm EVO if you made a ROM for the cdma 1. But It's hard because It's gonna require testing on a device which the cdma dev does not have.

I currently have an evo 3d. I'm running the latest ICS roms and noticed that my service is terrible. I have read that the radio isn't very good and I'm not the only one having this issue. Is it possible to flash a different radio on the new ICS roms or do they require the current radio only. Oh, and this is on the sprint CDMA network. Thanks for any help...
Nope just has to be for the Evo 3d I use the gb radio on ics even though I get better service on the ics one

In theory, you could flash a Verizon radio to a Sprint phone. I haven't tried it since pre 4G days. For instance, I had Sprint's HTC Hero and I would flash radios made for Verizon's HTC Eris. But only when the Eris would have a newer radio available. I never had an issue. I wouldn't try flashing a WiMax or LTE radio. I bet the developer Toast would have more input as to whether it is still possible or not. I wouldn't just go flashing them because that's pretty much the only way to brick your phone.

Who cares if Sprint release it?
HTC are the ones we would NEED to support it first.
Sprint will just bugger around with it after HTC would supply it, same as any network. If HTC refuse then Sprint can do nothing

I understand that, but we don't even have ICS source for cdma, and we are supposed to get JB? thats more along the lines of what I meant. Either way, I will probably be running a copy of it before sprint even thinks about supporting it. Love the dev's around here!
Moral of the story ...don't post without proof
I don't think HTC will upgrade anything earlier than the one range because essentially they will have to develop two types of ROMs ...for the one series with imagesense and the rest of the range without image sense capabilities.
But you never know, shout enough and maybe they'll listen

I truly think HTC isn't going to put the time and effort into doing the Jelly Bean update for it. And after this joke with the ICS update, do you really think Sprint is going to push it?

I've noticed that the LTE hasn't been getting too much love compare to what the og evo got when it first came out, but it is still a relatively new phone and the first source dropped not too long ago. But personally, there isn't much I don't have with the rooted stock rom right now. I have EOS JB on my Xoom and other than Google Now, not really missing much based on my usage style.

Maybe because HTC has more One X/XL/S/V models sold than Evo 4g lte. Also maybe Sprint never agreed to release JB on the evo 4g lte? I dunno...

the reason why it hasn't been announced is that sprint has partner shop with htc as far as updates goes same reason why the sgsIII received like three updates before we got our first one even tho the evo was put before
Honestly, I don't care. I have a Nexus 7 and it isn't super buttery smooth compared to ICS like the the tech sites are making it out to be. It feels the same to me. Though I feel ICS is as smooth as it gets most of the time anyway except for immediately after unlocking the phone when it has been asleep for awhile. It would be nice to be on the current OS but I don't feel like ICS is a major step back. The notifications of Android 4.1 are nice though.
If Sprint holds true to its past with upgrades we will see it shortly after the next EVO device is launched.
You guys honestly complain so much. What's wrong with the way the phone performs now? Chill out and enough questions about jelly bean. It will come when it comes. This phone is a flagship HTC one X phone for sprint...do you honestly believe we won't get the next one or two (possibly 3) iterations of android?

... it took less than 2 months for the original EVO 4G to updated to Froyo... I'd say that is a better example of Sprint's record with updating a new device, than comparing it to updating devices that are fairly old (the EVO 4G was 6 months old when Gingerbread came out, and was updated about 6 months after that).
They said the One XL will get it, so we can count on the devs to then get it to us from there. No worries.
Devs > Sprint.

I'd rather be stuck on ICS forever than have my favorite apps not work properly with JB.
Yes i know its "almost the same" but almost doesn't mean it is. I tried apex on a JB build and it wouldn't even start, so either that build is missing something or its not as almost as everyone makes it out to be.

LTE owners should view this as if they were installing a cumulative Windows Update patch, like SP1, which will fix things... And break things... Such as backwards compatibility with apps.
However, with that being said, I'll be flashing Jelly Bean the same second it is released. CM10 AOSP, where are you?
