[Q] Help... - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi,
I tried to port a Sense "Zero" ROM to my ACE, and hard bricked it.
Those at Samsung changed the motherboard for mine for FREE (My dad took it to service and he didn't tell the staff there that it was rooted so warranty not "voided" yet)
Now here's the situation.
Before bricking the ACE, I can normally flash ICS roms without wiping data/factory reset when finished flashing it.
But after that, I have trouble .For example, the CM9 Galaxyics by Maclaw's team Rom. I need to do a wipe after flashing to boot it normally. But for AOKP, it got stuck at whitescreen practically FOREVER.(I wiped already). Should I try to flash a new bootloader and stock ROM from sammobile.com again or do something else?
Thx for ur advice.
Hopefully I don't need to buy a new one, or fix my HTC Desire's motherboard which keeps rebooting after 5 mins and cost about $150

why dont u go to download and install fresh firmware, sorry if i mistaken

Hey .. before u flash the AOKP rom must do reset factory data, wipe cache n also dalvik cache .. After u flash the rom, u need to do reset factory, wipe cache n wipe dalvik cache again . AOKP has different way to install

The Desire reboot problem.....ahh good times
Ace-ing all tests.

Update: Now I got problems with GalaxyICS and MIUIv4 too......Normally I don't need to do that much wipe when flashing ICS.

hey stuck on boot logo there are many questions like this ok consegregate........
now the answer before flashing any rom wipe factory resets ,wipe card partitions and wipe delvik cache using cwm and also keep your battery full .i installed cm7 rc1 by grif with this method.
and also use roms build for ace only hahahaha
Where's your phone from?
I had some problems flashing some roms for S5830 since mine is S5830B.
before installing any custom rom in recovery do a factory reset then wipe cache partiton and dalvik cache then flash the rom
My phones from India.I did do all the wipes and resets.Even tried flashing with sys and data mounted.Tried even after formatting system and data. But nothing works. The only rom which i successfully flashed through cwm is ginger real 1.4.

I tried on ddkq5,ddkq6 and kph.I had grif's cyanogenmod on my sd.wiped cache ,dalvik cache and factory reseted the phone.Mounted the sys and data. Then installed the zip file.after this it boots till the select language screen and then goes off.if i restart it the same thing happens.Tried factory reseting and wiping caches even after flashing but it does not help.Facing the same problem for MY-UI as well as gingercruzt.I even tried format the system before flashing.Tried with cwm v4 as well as v5.

[Q] Homescreen button, screenlock and incoming calls issue

Hello everyone, i have sold my x10 to my friend few days ago. He has responsed that he cannnot erase my google account, he just could add a new one what he did. We decided to destroy the old one with factory reset but when we booted phone home button, screenlock and incoming calls didn't work. I was searching for threads like these one and I've found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301276 - it is propably the same but i don't want to do something without being sure by you, because i weren't running any other ROM than stock. My (his) x10 is running latest official Gingerbread 2.3.3 (firmware 3.0.1.G. 0.75, kernel 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537). Please try to help if you can.
I assume the rom is rooted with xrecovery? If so I would re-flash the wolf rom but remember wipe factory reset then wipe cache and then advanced wipe dalvic cache before reflashing

And also Advanced\Wipe Dalvik Cache + Wipe Battery Stats.
Then -> Install custom zip and you choose the ROM archive from the sdcard.
Thank you guys for advance in this issue, finally i flash cyanogenmod into it and phone was running perfectly. This community is perfect . Thread can be lock now.

[Q][SOLVED] Why Bootloop after Factory Reset?

Can someone explain why on some Roms you got bootloop after wipe data/factory reset?
I got this on Clean'N'Tweaked and Original Xperia T ROM?
What 'vital' files are in /data partition to cause this?

Because you wipe the system so obviously the Phone cant boot.

wipe data doesn't wipe /system, only /data and /cache.
Also I got bootloop even when performing from Settings -> Backup and restore
I think that rom's have Small Apps.
Small Apps need some cache, almost all two zip's mod need to install part 1,clear cache, reboot, then inatall part 2.
That's why after wipe some roms that includes Small Apps or other 2 zip's mods won't work.

Wiping data/factory resetting the handset wipes the system, just wiping the caches does not.

:what:No... Wiping data /factory reset doesn't wipe the necessary system files required for some ROMS... :sly:
There's a different option in recovery to wipe system

this^^. wipe data/factory reset from cwm does not wipe /system.
Do u wipe data just after installing without booting even once?
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using xda premium
Hmmmm....The BIG questions is.....Do you wipe/factory reset after flashing custom roms or before flashing custom roms???
if you wipe/factory reset after flashing customs rom then YES you will get bootloop in certain custom roms....if you wipe/factory reset before flashing custom roms then NO you won't get bootloop....
you should also check if the kernel you use is compatible with custom roms you about to flash on your phone....you need flash custom kernel first (using flashtool) before you flash custom roms using CWM....
OK Thanks for the answers. Maybe small apps are caousing boot loop
But I have another question: How Xperia T users using stock Rom when they do factory reset don't get boot loop?

Factory reset can solve the bootloop problem when we flash one ROM over other...
Factory Reset doesn't cause bootloops...
It just wipes the non-system apps and stuff...
Flashing a ROM with different framework over a ROM (like flashing CM over stock based ROM or flashing ICS over GB etc) , without wiping data /factory reset can cause bootloops...
Although there are a hundred other reasons for bootloops but it's the major one
Iknow , its very late ( 4 years ) lol
but its because of framework-res!
if U flash zellycream rom and reset it ----> every thing normal
install small app on stock rom and after reset---> BOOTLOOP
Sory for my bad English

[Q] How to install this rom? xD

Hi guys, you can tell me how to install this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012666
What kernel should I use for better results?
I think like any other rom...
Put it into your sd-card, reboot to CWM and do the wipes(Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format system) and the install the .zip
But first of all you should flash the kernel which is given in the download(together with the rom)
AW: [Q] How to install this rom? xD
I think he better should not format system
Just wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and advanced -> wipe dalvik cache!
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
I'm doing it everytime I flash a new rom
Nothing wrent wrong :fingers-crossed:
Any ICS kernel is compatible. I strongly recommend MESA Hybrid v3.5 or LuPuS v3. I also recommend to format system before flashing new ROM. I've done it over 100 times safely. You'll avoid a lot of problems.

I think he should first do it without wiping system and incase it was required and he stuck in a bootloop, then he can simply do the process again with wiping system
Press THANKS if I helped,
Regards,
AJ
I tried the rom(with rage kernel 3.2), and always go in bootloop
make sure u already have ur ROM on sdcard and the others (wifi-fix.zip or whatever)
on CMW, u can safely wipe /system when u wanna flash new ROM, but REMEMBER not to reboot your phone AFTER u wipe /system. if u do this, u will see "new boot kernel animation" a.k.a BOOTLOOP.
after wipe /system,/cache,/dalvik,/data,/sd-ext then next thing is install ur ROM.
if u using TWRP, its not necessary to wipe /system bcoz TWRP will wiping /system by itself when u install new ROM.
yes, i sent from my phone using Xda Premium, so what?

[Q] Wipes (simple question, almost anybody can answer)

When wiping everything before installing new rom/update, is it necessary to wipe data/factory for full performance or may i not wipe and keep all apps? Is that possible?
I hope you can understand and sorry for my bad argentinian english!
No its not possible and you should wipe data/factory reset cause if you dont you will get into bootloop

Not necessarily.
@OP: it's always the best to wipe phone before installing new rom, however.. if it's update of same rom, then it's mostly not needed to do full wipe..
if you install rom same type (like 2 stock based roms or 2 CM based roms) sometime you can go without wiping.
