hi i have ported a hero cdma rom (the rom is working fine and i can use it for calls etc.) but i cant figure out how to change the mobile settings from cdma to gsm so that i can search for mobile networks.
i hope that someone can explain me how to fix that.
i have ported /system/etc/permissions.
i have pushed the settings.apk from the gsm base rom in my ported rom but that didnt help!!!)

Thanks, just in case I ever switch to MetroPCS. Don't know if they're available in Columbus, OH. Cricket is but they're not accepting new customers here.

hey i need that fix for my droid eris on metro my mms is not working it worked before but i updated it to 2.2 so no bueno..
Endoki has released the fix. it is a One-Flash-Fix. It works best with a fresh flash, without any other MMS Fix modifications.
Details:
MetrOFF for [GB/FROYO-CM/AOSP] ROMs:
- Changes carrier name on status bar/lock-screen to "MetroPCS."
- Updates BUILD.PROP with the right settings for MetroPCS.
- Updates telephony.db/APNs with the right settings for MetroPCS.
- Installs Modded Mms.apk required in most [GB/FROYO-CM/AOSP] ROMs.

This works perfect I used it on my eris with metro and I have mms now.
Adrynalyne had earlier posted a flashable zip file for froyo roms, using amend scripts, which adds dial up networking under wireless & networks menu.
The same feature was included in com rom and ukb 2.0 as well. In the latest gb leak based nameless rom, this feature isn't available which leaves me unable to connect my phone to qpst, which is quite useful in fixing few network and data issues.
My request to the developer community is simple. Please give us a flashable zip of edify scripts which can add this necessary feature to the rom. Please see this as a necessary feature and not a verizon bloat.
I hope I haven'toffended any feelings here and will be grateful to anyone who can help me getting this feature enabled on the new gb leak based nameless rom.
Btw, thanks to all developers here for their amazing work on the fascinate!

I just want to 2nd this. I would also love to use CM7, but, for now, data won't work so I too can't connect my phone to QPST and reflash to cricket. I've done everything from a touch diamond to a EVO to cricket, but the fascinate has to be one of the hardest because you have to use two versions etc. This would make it so other users such as myself, JEEZYMT3G, and jenisiz can use CM7 based roms. i'm pretty sure if we could flash in CM7 we could then flash miui if we wished.
I think TSM Parts for Froyo had this option with it. Can anything be done in this regard?

Hi guys, this really makes me crazy and I'm not able to find a solution for this problem. I've tried to search a lot on various forums but without success. I like MIUI based roms but I facing a problem with manual selection of network operators. This just doesn't work and everytime I try to search for a operator I get a "error while searching for networks" error and I can not manually select the network. I've noticed this happen on all 2.x MIUI roms with FXP based kernel. With roms based on stock kernel everything works OK. Does anybody have an idea what's the problem here and how to fix it ? I'm not sure if this is rom or kernel based issue.
My current os:
Baseband: 2.1.71
Kernel: 2.6.29-zdzihu-mod4.05
Rom: MIUI-2.3.2_Cobrato (Android 2.3.7)
Any help appreciated!
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone information, wcdma prefered, turn on radio button and check apn settings.
It may also be your SIM card. Try it in another phone. May be broken.

Hi, thanks for reply. I'm affraid problem is not in the phone nor simcard as on stock firmware this works fine. Also I'm able to register into a network as strongest network is selected automatically but I'cant select the network manually after pressing the search network button. So I can use the phone, I just can't tell the phone to select network manually. So this is annoying especially if you live on borders with another country or in roming since you are note able to select your preffered network. I mean if you go to Settings ---> Mobile network settings ---> Network operators ---> Search for networks. If you click on it, you should get the error.

I am facing similar kind of issue on my Venue.
I have installed MIUI with 408(update.pkg)
Venue is not attaching to mobile network at all, I have tried Manual and Automatic modes, its giving Error while searching for networks
Wifi and other features are working fine.
I will really appreciate any help ion this!!!

Hey mizuuu & bzene, sorry to persist, just to discard operators company side by troubleshooting, did you try introducing another SIM of the same company to check if the issue remains from operator company side or OS side?
Repeat, just to discard big point of view about troubleshooting

I have an Xperia GO and have the same problem with the MIUI for Sony Xperia Go bassed on CM9 FXP and with the CM9 FXP205.
The latest roms than I have tested are :

I've got an Alcatel 5020T which has the same problem, unfortunately I cannot find the stock or AOSP ROM for it, so I am stuck with MIUI. I've messed around with the Engineering Mode settings royally messing those up as well in efforts to reset it. This is a daily phone and I do not have another at my disposal at present so it would be VERY helpful if anyone can help.
I've installed ClockworkMod, and running Miui_Alcatel-OT5020E_4.4.4 with the 4.5.23 update. AT one point it did work at the beginning but I believe since the Engineering mode settings are below rom level they have stuck and are sticking every time I am resetting the ROM to 4.4.4 and 4.5.3 and the original port 4.3.28.
I would like to build AOSP or Cyan for it, but I do not currently have access to a Ubuntu or linux computer to do so.
Asking for one (or more) of the following from anyone:
1) Stock or any other rom for the 5020T (any of the 5020W 5020D 5020E roms should work, or are close enough I'd try them)
2) Default settings for everything in the engineering mode for the 5020 under the "Telephony" tab
3) A guide to somehow magically reset the engineering mode settings to some sort of default which most likely does not exist.

I ported a few roms from the Xperia Arc forums to the Desire HD, some of which the wifi worked correctly and others it simply won't enable and will grey out in the settings (the enable button). One of the ROMs with no wifi is the AoCP ROM in the Desire HD forums. Please I need help! I am a new to porting and I really want to have my roms fully working. Can someone help out or at least get me started with bug fixing on ported roms? Thank you!
