accelerometer off by 5 degrees - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Anyone else have issues with their accelerometer being off. I was trying to play temple run and noticed I had to hold it at an angle for the player to stay in the middle of the screen. Then I loaded up bubble level and it shows it being 5 degrees off. I tried to calibrate it from the screen menu and a factory reset neither of which helped. Should I send to Samsung for repairs?

Hmm, no clue. Have you tried Googling "how to calibrate android accelerometer" or similar?

Me too
Man, that's so weird. I had almost the same problem on the same day. Suddenly, my player's accelerometer freaked out. The x axis keeps showing -9 at horizontal position. I have tried calibrating it many times and also tried lots of wipes and even 2 flashes using odin and nothing seems to solve the problem.
My player was bought 2 months ago in Brazil and I have never let it fall or suffer any kind of physical shock. Now I don't know even how to send for repair cause I only have rooted roms to flash on it and support may discover custom roms through CWM recovery on boot.
I'm still pretty sure it's not hardware malfunction. Something has happened and I can't find out how to reset sensors the hard way.
Strange that happened to us on the same day (at least, with me was on 21st).
I'll keep searching for a solution. It's horrible to use the player with this issue. (Not to say, almost impossible.)
Best regards.

I have found this and it seems to work for many ppl. I'll try it later, when I get back home (I'm at work).
First, navigate to /data/system folder and then rename or delete ms3c_yamaha.cfg
Later (you need to have your phone rooted), try this at the terminal:
adb shell
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
then place your phone horizontally and still and press enter.
Finally, run the Horizontal Calibration from the Display settings and then reboot.
Really hope it helps and work.

I tried everything I could
So, I got back home and started trying many things I saw on the web.
I reflashed again, using odin, different roms (now I'm keeping Eryigit-GB-2.3.6 G70ZCKPA Galaxy Player 5.0 For USA and INT (Rls:3.5) with rotation off).
I also tried what I have posted before and it didn't work, actually I found 2 files similar to the ones posted before: One is caled sensorlib_yamaha_test.so and the other is sensorlibconfig.so (not pretty sure about the name of the second file).
What happened during my attempts was that: before, the X sensor had the problem (value -9 with the cellphone laid on a desk, at horizontal position) and now, surprisingly, the X sensor is OK and now the Y sensor has the failure.
Using the HORIZONTAL CALIBRATION in SAMSUNG 2.3.6 (or 2.3.5, whatever), the ball only stays in the middle of the screen if I keep my phone in vertical position - upside (cause of the Y axis). Even if I rotate the tab in every direction possible, the ball never goes UP, so it only keeps with negative values and never positive ones.
BUT If I shake the phone, not so hard and not so soft, I see the ball of the calibration software moving on all directions. But when I manage to do it softly (as we do with normal use), the ball never goes up.
I have downloaded many sensor programs to test the calibration and after trying about 20 programs, ONLY ONE have showed the exact values as if the accelerometer was normal, but the calibration of the program did not affect the accelerometer on the system and other programs.
So, this is it, of course I won´t give up and try as many things as I can. Here in Brazil we have a saying that is: I'm Brazilian and I never give up.
P.S. I hope someone reads this and give me ideas. hehe
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day u all.

Great news - a solution
GREAT NEWS - I HAVE SOLVED IT
Ok, after lots of attempts here is what I did.
I have downloaded android Froyo firmware from a Korean website (its on a thread of android development from galaxy player). Then I flashed it with ODIN and when it turned on, at first it was discalibrated the same way (Y axis only showing from 0 to -9).
I turned the player OFF and then turned it ON holding vol + button to enter in stock recovery mode. In recovery mode I wiped cache and data. Then I tried to calibrate again, with my device upside down and then voila.
Of course it was sort of a luck, but I had to try everything my mind could guess.
After all, I think that maybe It wasn't necessary to flash other roms (but it would be impossible to solve it using ICS due to a lack of calibrator - without having to use terminal / for curious noobies like me).
Then, I always tried to calibrate my tab laying it in horizontal position and that is the why I never got any satisfactory results. When I tried the calibration with the tab in 'incorrect' positions, the problem was solved. I guess, the calibration program tried to compensate the wrong results cause of the vertical position and then it calibrated itself.
Hope this helps someone someday. (But I really hope you won't have this kind of problem. It's frustrating.
Any device you have, if you have accelerometer problems, you should try this idea: wipe data and cache, and the first calibration you do, do it with your device turned to the side that has the wrong value or to the oposite side. This worked for me.
Best Regards,
Very happy Zilian28.

go to settings>display>horizontal calibration lay it on a flat surface and calibrate it

Touch screen not working.

Hi guys. I'm totally new to the android/smart phone world btw. Anyways, I recently got my Samsung Galaxy S2... first thing I noticed, my touch screen wasn't working. I popped the battery in and out and then it started working as it should.
My phone was working fine this morning, then all of a sudden out of no where, the touch screen stopped working again. I've tried turning on/off the phone multiple times. I've taken out the battery and even my SIM card nothing... i'm worried.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix? Do i have to go through Samsung? I hope not. Incase anyone asks, I did not root my phone.
Any help/feedback would be appreciated.
When the touchscreen stops working... were you charging the phone at that time?
The first time i turned on my phone, was actually by accident and it was charging.
However, just earlier now, it was not. it was just sitting on my computer desk. The home button, lock button and touch capacitive buttons work.... but i can't get past the lock screen
you could try a factory reset to see if its software related, but it sounds like hardware. I would definitely Return the phone .
I guess I can't do a factory reset, since I can't get into any of the menus... man this sucks. I spent $900 *gulp*
To do a factory reset,
1. Turn the POWER OFF, pull the battery out and put it back again.
2. Simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power button
3. If the Samsung Symbol appears, release the Power button
4. A Boot Menu will then show, Use the volume up/down to choose wipe data/factory reset.
touch screen not needed this way.
oo that's interesting... I tried it. and it didn't get to a boot menu. maybe I was doing it wrong. I tried a few different ways, but no success. It turns out I have warranty with the store. They're going to replace it for me Thanks for the feedback guys. Awesome forums.
Something similar happened to me yesterday. When I had the in-box USB cable attached to a BoxWave VersaCharger (combined AC/DC charger), and the VersaCharger was plugged into 120V AC, the touchscreen would stop working. As soon as I unplugged the USB cable from the SGS2, or plugged the VersaCharger into a 12V DC lighter socket, the touchscreen would work fine.
I've got the same problem as the OP... I had my phone charging overnight and this morning when I first went to use the phone I could not unlock the screen. I could wake the screen via the home button, and see I had a missed call etc but it just wasn't responding to touch. BTW I can't remember if when I first tried to unlock the phone if it was charging or not but really this shouldn't matter.... oh and btw, I'm not rooted or anything either! Naturally I rebooted the phone but still the same problem....so I tried a battery pull and still the same problem. Just now I did a factory reset but the touch screen still isn't working! I guess this is a hardware problem so I'm going to get it fixed under warranty by Samsung! Gutted that I will likely be without my phone for a week or 2!
EDIT, UPDATE...
Well, I was just on my way to the repair shop Samsung warranty had told me to take it too, and I took my sim card out to put in my old Hero (the only thing I hadn't tried!) and I couldn't believe it but the touch screen started working fine again! Weird, but that is now my advice if anyone else has a problem with their touch screen not working - oh and I took the sim out whilst the phone was still turned on. Crisis averted!
UPDATE 2
Sadly this has happened about 4 times to me now and I'm just waiting for the inevitable next time. Each time doing a factory reset then taking the sim card out seems to bring the screen back to life (though last time not immediately) but I shouldn't have to put up with this. Problem is, I don't want to send off a seemingly perfectly working phone to get repaired as I fear they will struggle to notice the problem, never mind fix it! I'm hoping a new firmware comes out soon, in the hope that it may resolve my issues...
Me as well ...
I have had this happen to me twice now (Touchscreen not responding).
The first time I had just installed a game and thought it must have been related to that. Pulled the battery and no joy, left it for a while and it came back to life...
Second time I was surfing the web and it stopped responding, pulled the battery and left it for maybe a minute but no joy .... pulled the battery again and left it for probably 20min and it came back to life. When it came back up I noticed the livewallpaper had been turned off and my widgets were gone from the homescreen.
What I did notice when it wasn't working was it had "safe mode" displayed at the bottom left of the screen
Have the Same Problem
Have the same problem i Mine and was super exicedat first it worked fine and after charging the touchscreen stopped working i pulled the battery out and put it back in but no luckso im gonna return mine to the shop hope they replace it
Moral:AT FIRST SUPER EXICTED BUT NOW SUPER ANGRY
Same issue - Is there ANY way to save my data before I send it in for repair/replace?
Hi all,
As of this morning, I have exactly the same issue as the OP. Screen doesn't react to touch, with the exception of the capacitive buttons. I found a dude on YouTube that had the same issue: youtu.be/0oIdllWiV4I
The last thing I did with the phone before it started misbehaving was to answer a call. The phone was on the charger when the call came in - I can't recall whether I unplugged it before answering, or after, or at all during the call. Not sure it has any relevance anyway, only mention it because I've seen reports of people's screens no longer reacting to touch when the phone is plugged in to a charger (apparently it even states in the manual that this may happen).
Anyway, whilst all my contacts, SMS, photos etc are backed up to the cloud, the same can't be said for my app data. Before I lose hours and hours of progress in various games, or all my settings in numerous other apps, etc, can anyone think of any way to get access to the memory of the phone, bearing in mind the following:
I can't connect to Kies to pull a back-up because bluetooth is currently enabled on the phone and when one connects the USB cable, it says "Activating USB mode will deactivate Bluetooth. Continue?" but I can't click the Yes button
I can't connect in USB mass storage mode because I can't navigate to the settings menu entry to enable it
I can't turn Bluetooth off in order to get Kies working, becuase I can't get to the settings menu or pull down the notification bar to reach the power control.
I can't use Voice input to control the device (on the off chance there was a "bluetooth off" voice command) because (presumably with the most recent firmware I flashed via Kies a few weeks back) for some reason Vlingo is no longer the app on the double-home button action. Instead it calls Samsung Voice and wants to walk me through a first use tutorial, but I can't click the next/skip buttons
I installed via Android Market push the app belonging to www_remoteaccessphone_com as it promises to be able to remotely switch bluetooth off, but the website says I haven't installed the app yet, presumably because alrhough I was able to install it without touching the phone, it probably needs to be run at least once to set it up, and I obviously can't do that
I can't start Kies Air to try and get my data that way (starting it would require using the touch screen)
Kies via bluetooth isn't supported on Android
Needless to say, the data I'm trying to retrieve is on the internal memory, not the SD card. As you can see I've been trying all sorts of creative things, but I'm fairly sure I'm screwed. Any bright ideas I haven't thought of?

flash it with CF-root, boot into CWM recovery, do a nandroid backup after that, use CWM recovery again to mount USB storage, connect to your PC and pull everything off.

Thanks for the quick advice. I guess I'll need to use my girlfriend's phone to download CF-root and then transfer the SD card to my device. Quick question before I proceed though - is it possible to remove all traces of such tampering, since I've already made out with Samsung that I'm sending it in for repair, and I'm not sure they will honour the warranty if they see it has been rooted etc.

get a USB jig off ebay or amazon to reset the flash counter. should not cost more than 5 or 6 euros, shipped.
anyways you need to flash CF-root through ODIN if you are coming from stock. instructions are all in chainfire's cf-root thread.
Nandroid Restore
So I successfully rooted, used CWM to do a Nandroid backup, mounted the sd_card and saved the contents (including the nandroid backup) to my PC, reflashed the stock rom & kernel, usb-jigged it to get the counter back to zero/original and sent the phone in for repair. My efforts paid off as they repaired it without question under warranty. I just received the phone back and today set about restoring my backup:
Copied the sd_card contents I'd saved to my HDD back onto the phone
Re-roooted it with Cf-mod.
Used CWM to restore the backup I took before sending it in
It restored boot/system/data/cache successfully
selected reboot now in CWM
The result is that it is still missing all my apps. It only seems to have the "data" like my camera shots and SMS messages, system settings like whether bluetooth is on or off, the volume level, Wifi networks etc. So something was restored. But there is no Google Account configured, the lock screen picture is the default not the one I had beforehand, and as I said, all the apps - the main reason I did this whole thing as my personal data is all backed up to the cloud on a regular basis anyway - have not been restored. Am I confused? I thought a nandroid backup took a complete snapshot of everything, apps included.
Finding out the list of Apps I had in order to reinstall them is not an issue - I have a list of everything I had installed saved on AppBrain. But if I reinstall the apps, all the settings (or progress in the games) within those freshly installed apps will be back to square one, not where I left them, right? Or should I reinstall the apps and then restore the data partition over the top again?
Are you guys using any type of screen protectors, cause if you are, that may be the issue s their have been reports that the screen becomes unresponsive with certain screen protectors when connected to a charger.
However, if you are not using a screen protector, then I would suggest getting the unit replaced as you should not have to do anything, root or otherwise, to get the touchscreen working on a touchscreen phone

Nope, no screen protector or any kind of case for that matter. Anyway, that isn't my issue anymore. The touch-sensitive unit was defective, the phone was repaired under warranty. My issue now is getting my apps & settings back. I have meanwhile read elsewhere that Nandroid doesn't back up the apps - pretty deceptive "backs up everything!" "it is like time travel" etc comments around here then.
Anyway, I reinstalled all the apps I had previously, and thought by reapplying the data partition from the nandroid backup it might then bring back the settings for the reinstalled apps. Instead all it did was remove all those apps again - now I am really confused. How come the restore DOESN'T bring back the apps I used to have, but DOES remove the ones I subsequently install. Does Nandroid touch the apps or doesn't it?
Touch screen not working
So i am having a very peculiar problem related to the GT-I9100 Touch Screen.
I bought the phone from Saudi Arabia and I live in Bangladesh at the moment. So for now I don't have warranty.
I bought it on 4th of this month. It had 2.3.3. So I updated it to 2.3.5. I did not use the phone much before that so I don't know if this problem was there before.
So here is the problem.
First time I noticed it when i pulled the phone from my pocket and could not unlock the pattern. First I thought I forgot the pattern. After sometime I noticed that i could not touch the buttons. I was dragging my finger over the points but there was no connecting line. I restarted the set. But it still did not work. After sometime I took the battery out. And after that it started normally and unlocked. And the touchscreen is totally fine.
I tested it using *#0*#. And every single point in the screen registers touch.
After that this happened couple of times. First couple of days I thought it was a pattern unlock problem. But i tried PIN and Password even using no unlock. It happened in every case.
So after couple of days it totally stopped happening.
But from yesterday it is happening again. And today it happened 3 times.
So today as I had no unlock protocol i tried tapping Home twice. As this brings on the voice command menu. And for the first time i was in the phone without touching the screen. And first i noticed the Menu and Back Soft keys works. And the touchscreen still does not work. And i noticed some thing weird. Always some thing in the screen is Selected. In Menu the + Icon is selected. In first screen the Map icon is selected. Also in Recent Apps the first App is selected. So after a lot of reboots it is back to normal again. Now i see something interesting. In the Battery Usage Graph i can see some really sharp drops. 3 times. Looks like when this happens phones charge takes a nose dive.
So here is the Gist.
Info related the Problem:
1. Usually happens when the phone is my pant pocket for sometime. It does not happen if it is sitting on the table.
2. Touchscreen gets totally disabled.
3. I have no idea why this happens. The exact reason behind it.
4. Battery Charge takes a nose dive when this happens. See the attached images.
5. I still don't know how to bring it back. Sometimes a simple reboot works. Sometimes I have to pull the battery. And sometimes it works on its own.
6. Every other function of the phone works. Like music playback using my UE 200vi music keys using PowerAMP, Siri(Android version), Call can be received using headset.
Battery nose Dive:

Also the selection
dl.dropbox.com/u/30943431/SC20111116-202146.png
So this is the thing. My biggest problem right now is, I don't know why it happens and I don't know how to bring it back from this situation. If I knew I could make sure I don't get it again or I would just fix it every-time. As when this happens I cant make calls or anything which requires the touchscreen.
So guys help me if you can by giving ideas. As i will not go back to KSA in 6 months. So buying a $550 phone unlocked was a total waste. As i cant use it here.
Thanks a million in advance.

And also the next time it happens i will do a video to shou you guys.
Having the same problem while charging touch screen doesn't work
Stock charger and usb cable
i was on CM7 but that happend so i flashed stock but no luck
I will write more observations

[Q] Lock Screen Won't Stay Off

Sunday, I started having a problem where my phone (AT&T Galaxy Note 2) would bring itself out of the lock screen without me touching anything. The screen will stay on for 10-15 seconds and then shut off again. It will then stay off anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
Very odd, right? I figured I downloaded a bad app that was causing the issue. I removed practically every app I could (I wasn't going to go through all of them to see which had permissions to bring the phone out of standby). It still kept doing the same thing.
So I did a hard reset on the phone. That should clear everything, right? The problem still kept happening.
I start thinking maybe it's a hardware issue... EXCEPT for it doesn't happen when the phone is in Airplane Mode! Which brings me back around to thinking it's some rogue app, but it still happens even when there's nothing but the default software installed from after a hard reset. It can't be the power button or a bad proximity sensor if it doesn't happen in Airplane Mode, right?
So I took it to the AT&T store and I didn't expect much. The one guy tried to play with my settings and didn't find anything wrong. He took it to the manager in the back room and the manager said I should do a hard reset (ignoring the fact that I told his employee I already had done so twice).
I've looked for answers online. The ones I've found I've tried. I've removed all applications. I've changed the screen time outs. I've even downloaded a Lock Screen replacement program. I've tried using anti-virus to scan for problems. It starts to happen again immediately after I perform the hard reset. I've moved the brightness settings. I've removed the S-Pen thinking it might be causing issues. I've turned on and off motion options. I've turned on and off wi-fi, GPS, screen rotation, multi-window, etc. Power Saving mode doesn't help. Blocking Mode doesn't help. The only thing that works is Airplane Mode.
I have NOT tried rooting my phone. I'm scared to do so, even though I'm a UNIX admin and a techie and shouldn't be scared of something like this.
Has anyone ever experienced this? I'm running whatever the normal, latest AT&T android version (4.1.2) for the Note 2. This is killing my battery and reducing screen life (is that a big deal though? I don't know).

[Q] Touchscreen does not react properly

Hey guys
My Galaxy Tab 10.1 is giving me a hard time since a few weeks.
I run the CM 10.1 nightlies on the device and have the following issue:
The touchscreen does not react to my finger properly. Sometimes it works, but then doesn't react anymore. I then press the power button, to send it into sleep mode, then press it again to wake up. the device reacts then like 99% of the time to unlock it. but after that its just a pain in the a**. As far as I can remember, I did not change the ROM when this happened, but since then I tried dozens of different nightly versions, even ones that I know they worked before.
The strange thing is, that it seems to be dependent on the position sensor, because when the tablet is on a flat surface, and is not moved, it works the best. Not 100% but like 80% of the time. But when I hold it in an upright position, or just in my hands, not flat on a table or something, it reacts to like 5% of my tries...
I have been searching on xda and on google about that problem, the most matching one was a driver issue that occurs after like a minute or when a graphic intense app has loaded. They provided a kernel fix, which just made my tab boot into infinity and never reaches the lock screen. after factory reset it boots again, but the problem still exists.
hope somebody can help, because I love my Tab and I can just not accept the fact that it could be a HW issue, since it works 99% of the time on the logon screen, and due to the fact of the position sensor being involved...
thanks in advance! please make me happy again!
@shr00my
Let me ask you this..Does this problem occur in all apps or just you're browser...?
Also..when you flash a new rom..I assume you wipe data/cache/dalvik cache...but do you go in and format system( only system )...you might have something left over from a bad flash that is causing problems..
Hi Gil81
Thanks for your answer! Yes that happens everywhere, in the android menu, homescreen, inside games, video player etc...
Yes i always wipe the caches and data. But I also tried various combinations with different nightlies and wipe scenarios.
Could you tell me a good different rim that is on android 4.2 and not CM based so I could try to flash that and see what happens.
Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk 4
Looks like the problem is deeper than i thought...
I installed the latest cm10.2 build from the forum here, full wipe cache/dalvik/everything except SD mount, before and after installation.
when coming back to the recovery to install the gapps that I forgot to download, I realized, that i also had issues with the touchscreen in the recovery menu...
I also installed the Kernel (kernel_p4wifi-cm-10.2-20130903-0100-exp.zip) that was provided on the goo.im directory http://goo.im/devs/loosethisskin/p4wifi/cm-10.2
I also experienced some ghost touch issues with the "back" button... Not sure yet if it was because of a specific touching of the frame or an angle of the tabled when lying on my back, holding the tablet in face down. (since I experienced strange behaviour depending on the position sensor)

Samsung S6 Edge Touchscreen is slow to the touch

Hello Everyone. I have my new Samsung S6 Edge about 3 weeks now. It worked flawlessly the first week and a half but lately I've been getting an intermittent problem with the sensitivity of the touchscreen and it is very annoying. I have to swipe, touch a letter (if texting), or touch an icon, multiple times before it will execute the touch. Sometimes it seems as if it is in slow motion where the execution responds 4 to 5 seconds after the touch. There has not been any new software added and I always close out of any running programs.
I have tried all of the following to which none had any effect:
a) Restarting the phone by using the on/off key dialog box
b) Shutting it down for a couple of minutes and starting it again
c) Using Samsung's method to restart the phone by holding the on/off key and down volume key simultaneously
After a day and a half of frustration I was ready to take it back to my mobile supplier when it all of a sudden starting working properly after checking to see if my phone volume was at the maximum volume by hitting the up volume button. It worked well for about 3 days and then started to do the same thing. So again, I played with the volume down and up buttons until the touchscreen sensitivity worked.
I'm currently having the same issue again which prompted me to post this message. Playing with the up and down volume keys seem to help it at a ratio of about 7 out of 10 times. I've searched the web but haven't found anyone else with the same issues. A look at the Applications Manager under Running apps, System is taking up 1.1 GB, Apps taking up 530 Mb, leaving 0.99 GB of free memory.
Any suggestions? Maybe I should be taking it back for a hardware replacement?
Thanks for listening.
OK, so now I've come to the conclusion that hitting the volume up key was just a fluke although It seemed to help sometimes. S6 touchscreen returned to normal again yesterday afternoon. It just comes and goes which makes it rather difficult to show a mobile technician. I'll have to wait until it malfunctions again before taking it in to a Samsung Repair shop.
Me too....
I have subscribed to this thread, in hopes of finding some clues, because I too, have noticed the same exact behavior that OP described and was searching for a remedy/explanation. Also, had the volume up and seemed to somewhat fix it, but like OP said it is sporadic. I, by accident in trying to clear the cache, completely blew away my phone and had to rebuild my phone as I had before and even after a complete reset, I still have the same behavior.
Hi Chris, I stumbled across another interesting behaviour. While the phone is acting up, if you press and hold the UP Volume key (keeping it depressed) you will be able to scroll and press icons as normal. As soon as you let go of the volume key, the issue continues.
This is a link to a video I uploaded today to You Tube that shows exactly the issue I am having.

Just saw your vid, looks like yours is more pronounced than mine (non-Edge btw) and happens once in a while and then it goes away - I am hoping it isn't progressive. I can't seem to identify what triggers the sluggish behavior. I typically clear all apps from the recent apps as a matter of my normal operation in all my previous smartphones. When I notice it the most is when pulling down the notification center and either nothing happens or I have to pull down the shade all the way down for it to stick, otherwise it slides back up.

Thanks Alex, I tried your suggestion and disabled Briefing, cleared the cache & data, then restarted the phone. It did not fix the problem.

for me it's much better..still think it's also the memory problem..as around a half day all is fine..than the lag starts..
Took the phone to a Samsung Repair Shop today. Turns out the LCD display was malfunctioning. It took them 1.5 hours to repair and replace under warranty. Hopefully I won't have anymore issues with it

And why is this happening??

Sensors stop working on Lenovo Yoga Book

Hi,
sorry for posting here without being a developer myself. It seems like nobody on the other boards knows enough about android to be able to help me with this particular problem - which is the most strangest problem with electronic devices I have experienced so far:
The tends to "loose" sensors after a while. This mostly happens when in sleep mode, but can also happen during charging, sometimes after half a day, sometimes after a few seconds. The following sensors are affected: Accelerometer (including auto rotation), light, magnetic field, orientation and GPS. The sound and battery sensors keep going.
Now, while this is very annoying, it is not really strange. The strange part is the following: Two times I thought to have found the problem and get it back working normally, only to learn better 2 days later:
1) when I uninstalled the Dolphin browser - which never really worked on this device - the problem disappeared for more than a day and I thought it solved. Alas, it returned about two days later. So, Dolphin may have been a cause, but something new jumped into its place after 2 days.
2) at some point, I decided to uninstall Smart Launcher 3, which I had installed right at the start. E voilà: problem gone, the sensors worked perfectly without a single glitch for 2 days. So Smart Launcher must have been the culprit, right? -> wrong! Two days later the problem reappeared, worse than ever! All it takes now is putting the tablet to sleep for ~ 1 minute and the sensors are gone. If I want to use the sensors, I have to either prevent the sleep mode or restart the tablet whenever I want to use it.
So far, I haven't found another solution to make it work for 2 days (or even longer than a couple of minutes). But anyway, it doesn't make any sense. Why would uninstalling an app make the problem disappear, but only for 2 days? Then the same story again, when uninstalling another app?
Any kind of hint or suggestion is greatly appreciated, I am desperate and have no more ideas what else to try. All pleasure in the device is gone, it's just frustrating.
Thank you a 7'200 times (seconds in 2 hours)!

It just got more weird. I figured out, that enabling the power save mode caused the tablet to work somewhat normally, meaning sensors would still work after sleeping most of the time.
But guess what: 3 days later even that workaround doesn't work anymore. Restarting the tablet brings the sensors back, but switching the screen off (sleep mode) for 5 seconds is enough to disrupt them, always. This doesn't make any sense at all. Why does the device always find a way to counteract my workarounds after 2-3 days? Is the thing alive and doing it on purpose? It starts to drive me really mad :crying:
Please, does anybody have an idea? I am looking for
ways to restart the sensors without having to reboot the tablet. There must be some service to kill and restart, right?
ways to identify the cause of the problem. There must be some kind of event log where the sensor crash and what happened before is recorded.
I am sure somebody must know about those things, at least in this forum. Otherwise I don't know what to do, I run out of workarounds, the evil device wins this battle and will soon target the world - welcome Skynet.
Thanks very much for any kind of help

edit: I noticed that when the problem occurs, it takes the tablet longer to wake up than the few times when everything is fine. This indicates that there is something going wrong with the wake up process. It must be possible to see in some kind of log what exactly happens, but my sparse knowledge of android isn't deep enough. I already tried OS monitor to access the catlog and I do see some warnings (pink W), but they don't tell me much. E.g.: OpenGLRenderer: Failed to choose config with EGL_SWAP_BEHAVIOR_PRESERVED, retrying without. Or: Syste: ClassLoader referenced unknown path: /mnt/expand/.../com.eolwral.osmonitor... (which rather sounds like a problem of OS monitor itself than a problem of the system).
i installed termux... ran top... i see a /system/vendor/bin/sensorhubd
i assume thats the process not "waking up"
is there a way to monitor that? or to tell it to restart? so we dont have to reboot everytime.............

I think i found whats killing it: google play services... disable body sensors permission in settings-->apps-->google play services-->permissions--> body sensors
also uninstall mcafee.
