Yesterday I OTA upgraded to ICS, my carrier is Vodafone NL.
The upgrade is great and all but I can't disable the 'touch sounds', even though they are turned off in the sound settings. Boxes are unchecked. So the phone makes sounds when I tab, scroll and suchs. This bug is irritating as hell and I don't know how to fix it because I can't reinstall ICS using Kies and I don't want to root my Galaxy S2. Searched all over the Internet but can't find any people with a similar problem.
The only way to turn of the sounds is to disable 'Music, video, games and other media' sound to 0% you can't hear the sounds. But that's not how it's ment to be. When I watch a video or something I need to enable, turn up the sound again and the 'touch sounds' are enabled again.
I tried to check and uncheck the boxes and then rebooting the device but I didn't help. Does anybody have a solution?
Some specs:
Modelnumber: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband-version: I9100BULP6
Kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100BULPC-CL332484

Start by backing up data and factory resetting .

Will try that. Will let you know.
Backing up using Kies.. there goes 2 hours of my life. (sh*t program)
Reset to factory setting using the dialpad technique. No success.
Any other suggestions?
Still same ordeal.. boxes are unchecked in the sound setting but 'touch sounds' keep on playing. Irritating.

Hi FundeMentaL,
Last week me and my girlfriend also updated our Samsung Galaxy S II's.
Somehow I couldn't manage to do it by Kies (tried it on 2 different computers, so I agree with your opinion on this program) so I did it OTA.
My girlfriend did it with Kies.
Weird thing is, she got the sounds and I didn't.
I drives her mad and the only thing we can do is turn off all media sounds (not a real solution). Nowhere in the settings I can see what causes this. And I can't replicate this on my phone either. I suspect TouchWiz.
I got android version 4.0.3 and build IML74K.XWLP7. What is your version? (By the way my phone is a UK distribution and I live in NL ).
It might be because I have a different launcher installed. Can you try to install Go Launcher EX and see what happens?

Hey nanopatch,
Sorry for coming back to you a little late. When no one could offer a solution I contacted Samsung. After explaining it to the service guy he said I was the first to report this bug. They adviced me to turn it in so the service center could look at it and fix it.
I upgraded my Galaxy S2 by OTA.
And when I reinstalled it through Kies. Still got the crappy sounds. Idd only option it to turn off all media sounds.
I've got Android 4.0.3 and build number IML74K.BULPC
My Android is all stock and isn't rooted, no launcher installed.
Going to send in my device. Definitely going to take a month to get it back ffs. Really crappy because I'm an app designer :S
Same touch sound problem
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, can't turn of the touch sounds on my brand new LG Optimus L5, which runs ICS. How was your problem finally solved, if at all?

I5500 here...
While I did not had this issue with stock 2.1.1 ROM, I had it with 2.2 (tested with NEE, XEU & PHB). After putting the battery back in and restarting the phone, my icons and widgets just disappeared from all of my virtual desktops on device. After trying to browse all my installed apps I go the loading beach ball of death. I've waited for half an hour and finally fixed the issue with a factory reset. No it was not the redraw lag... icons just disappeared and refused to appear again no matter how much I waited for them The same thing also happened after my phone self-restared itself without any intervention from my side
It looks like it could be a better idea to stick with the MAD Team releases of FroYo which have some issues fixed. As for me - I switched back to 2.1.1 even it is somewhat limited by features comparing to FroYo. It was maybe some incompatible app that messed up my FroYo, but it is strange that one week after going back to 2.1.1 I had no issue like this even using the same apps. Time will show ;-)
To moderator : double posting. could you please remove this one...
i have same problem with my Galexy 5 (GT-I5503),my phone randomly power down,my firmware version is 2.1-update1

Hi
Since about a week ago my SGS2 answer an incoming calls with the speakerphone turned on by default, and there's no way I can change it.
I use lightning rom 1.5 for a few months and everything was perfect until now.
Please help!

Oh I had this same issue just last week, out of nowhere. Here's what I did: plug the USB cord in & out the phone a few times, it should get okay. Just google it too, there's a bunch of HTC users who have reported the same issue but the plug in/out solution works for S2 as well.
Do you all use Go SMS Pro?....if so then its a software issue...
Update the application to the latest one and your issue will be resolved.
I used to have Go SMS pro, but I removed it long ago.
I heard about the problem it makes - similar to mine, so I tried to install and uninstall it again, but it didn't help.
I tried the USB connect/unconnect advice - didn't help.
I tried to install several auto-speakerphone apps to bypass the problem
Most didn't succeed, except from "save your brain" that worked OK for a while and than stopped. It also had annoying notification icon, and many Chinese notes, so I uninstalled it too.
Can't find the solution yet
I'd love more suggestions.
Thanks.

i had the same issue for about the same period, it started kinda a week ago, but in the past days i noticed that it just returned to normal
i updated gosms on 29aug to the last version, i guess this was all the fix i needed, stock 2.3.3 atm
Hi
I Managed to solved the problem using Elixir widget.
One of the possible widgets is Speaker widget.
Once I turned it off - the problem stopped.
Hurray.
Hello,
I bought recently the new SGS3 and after a week or two of using I noticed the phone loses all the sounds despite all of them are turned on and not being on minimum. After a while the sounds get back and everything works fine. At first I thought it might be from the settings because I set up silent mode for all notifications and I thought it may turn all the sounds off, despite it normally shouldn't. After playing for a while with the phone I realized the issue appears randomly without any reasons while I was playing game or simply navigating through the phone. If anyone had experienced the same issue or have an idea what could be the problem (software, hardware, settings, OS, etc) or how it can be solved, please respond. Any answer is appreciated as the problem is quite annoying as I'm missing calls because of it.
Thank you.
Phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S III
Android version - 4.0.4
Baseband version - I9300BOLF1
Kernel version - 3.0.15-782020
Build number - IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB
P.S. Restart of the phone doesn't help as I already tried it. The issues is related to all the sounds not to the vibration, the last works fine.
Backup data and factory reset.

Thank you for your advise JJEgan, unfortunately it didn't help neither. Yesterday I did the factory reset and left it as it is, didn't restore any of my previous settings or apps, didn't install anything additional, just wanted to see if the problem will appear again, and unfortunately it did.
Anything else I can try or I should take it to a service?
Thank you
I have the same problem with notification sounds. The problem appears when i turn off notifications on apk like im+ or Yahoo messenger. Is there any other solution rather than factory rest?

It happened to last night. I restored the phone using CWM and now is back to normal.
Hi, I've been trying to sort this out for the last 24 hours with no luck and need it fixed quite urgently
I have a Sony Ericsson Play, android version 2.3.4.
The microphone on my phone is rather strange, I can call people no problem, they hear me no problem but if i try and record my voice with a voice recorder there's absolute silence. This led me to backing up all my data and restoring my phone to factory settings hoping it was a glitch that would go away - it didn't.
So i reset my phone and it seems like it has been reset to a previous update to what I had before. I'm unsure of what update I had previously but one thing that has changed is that I no longer have the Google Play store but have the rubbish old market with hardly anything on it. Also my phone doesn't detect any of the apps that are stored on my SD (they're still there the space is taken). This is rather frustrating as I use apps such as Whatsapp a lot and I'm unable to use it.
Another major factor in my issue is that I bought my phone in the UK, had the updates done there and I am now in China. I plugged in my phone and tried updating it using the Sony Companion software but it tells me this is the most recent update (which it isn't). Same thing on the phone when I try and update it in the settings. I tried using a VPN on both my phone and laptop and 'locating myself' in the UK but it still says this is the latest update.
Can anyone offer any solution or advice that could help me regain what I had before. I've been searching all over the internet trying to find a solution with no luck.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer I really appreciate. Any questions just ask. Step by step solution would be excellent
Before/Now
Hello!
I recently switched to the m4 from my trusty LG OG, an it is perfect except for one thing... it doesn't ring.
I have tried all Sony-solutions, including PC software repair, etc... but no joy. My wife also has an M4 and has the same problem.
It is worked-around by using a 3rd party lockscreen (I use Hi-Locker), which is awesome.. but not ideal due to security problems, most notably Android Pay.
My question?
Can I replace the lockscreen at the ROM level? Can I replace the basic function with maybe a lockscreen from the Z5?
Unless someone knows how to fix this
I have never compiled my own rom, but I have a reasonable level of tech-savvy. I can flash ROMS and do work in Linux.
I have rooted and unlocked my bootloader, and I am using Stock Sony ROM
I have the latest firmware
Kernel 3.10.49
build 26.1.A.2.99
I have NOT tried using an old firmware- or an alternate ROM. I probably will, but my wife doesn't love the idea for her. Thus, I would like to work out a precision fix.
My thoughts?
Idea 1. find where the stock lockscreen/security module lives.. and try and replace with something from a different phone.
Possible?
Thank you for reading.. I know some other people have these problems, as I read them in threads here.. but I didn't find much in the way of fixing.
just for reference- THIS is the problem.

My phone doesn't ring when it 's locked. If phone is unlocked ringtone rings and vibrates. When it's locked no sound or vibrate. Whatsapp messages vibrate but they have no notification sound. I have checked all the settings, volume is up. Last resort is factory reset but i'm not there yet. I don't wanna lose all my settings.
E: Okay I used Sony PC Companion and used the Fix phone/tablet -thing and it downloaded the firmware and installed it so I think it reset my phone. Still my phone doesn't ring if its locked. If I press the power button when someone is calling to me, I can see the lockscreen notification on the screen but it doesn't ring or vibrate. FFS. Any ideas guys?
E2: I guess I find a solutions. Or a temporary solution. I noticed that if I disabled the screen lock, my phone would ring and vibrate normally. So I decided to try and download "Next" lockscreen app. Guess what. When I use it, my phone works perfectly. I don't know why it stopped ringing because there wasn't any new updates from Sony but it's clearly problem in Sony's software.

I still have the "silent phone" issue with this update. I have to use third party lock screen app. If I use Sony's lock pattern or pin code and use my gf's phone to call my phone: screen doesn't wake, no ringtone can be heard and no vibration. When I press power-button I can see that someone's trying to call me. Anyone else experiencing this problem? I hope you understand what I tried to say, the issue is kinda hard to explain.

Yeah this is a huge problem and we're not the only ones suffering from it. Now I use CM Locker because Next drained my battery. I also noticed that my phone works fine if I boot on safe-mode. Still haven't figured it out which app causes the problem. Gotta wait for the 6.0 update and hope that fixes things.
Same issue with out-of-the box...
Well, have M4 'out of the box' - meaning - no custom software installed, no customized ROM, no custom lock-screen... and well - to make the ring work back I have to restart phone every few days (as soon as realize that it's not working) - oh Sony, what should I say ....
