bootloader - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I search for bootloader ics galaxy s2 if you have a link thank you

Why on earth do you want a bootloader .
Ignore this if you are highly skilled and are working on the bootloader but then again with that skill level you would not be asking .
Sammobile.com usually has bootloaders .

Here, careful flashing

my sim card is not recognized by ics may be that by flashing the bootloader it will get better

No. That problem will not be fixed by flashing a bootloader. I wouldn't do that if I were you. You run the risk of bricking your phone.
You only flash a bootloader if your phone won't boot at all with a particular rom, or if you need the old bootloader in order to reset your flash counter in download mode with a USB jig.

ok thank you for your advice

post you imei here, let's see if it's fake, to do this type *#06# in phone dialer

why then my sim card is not recognized by ics?

im so sry about your phone, but the imei is fake, the only way to save you phone is to follow this guide, and if that didn't work, it's pretty much a bricked phone
EDIT: not a bricked phone i meant a touch screen MP4 player

Because you don't ask people to post their IMEI's.
What if he didn't have the generic one & he posted his real IMEI ? Someone casually reading the forum goes 'Thanks. I reckon I can sell that IMEI so someone with less than honest intentions can use it on a stolen/barred phone'.
Capice ?
Edit to add - A better thing to ask would have been 'Is your IMEI 004999010640000 (or whatever the generic IMEI is) ?'. That way you only need a yes/no answer, nobody's IMEI gets posted. If it's no, then it isn't an IMEI/EFS problem, If yes, then it probably is.

You never learn do you? -.-

OK. Now that we've dealt with that little...interruption...time to help you properly. It seems you have the generic IMEI & your real one has somehow been wiped/gone fubar.
The easiest way to fix it obviously is if you have your EFS backed up. If you don't there are tools on Google Play which claim to help you recover your IMEI, but reports I've seen about these recently say they only have a chance of working if you have some/all of your "nv_" files in your EFS folder.
I guess what it all boils down to is are you able to make calls, use data; I.E can you use your phone normally. If you can, it may not be a massive problem having a generic IMEI. Yes, some telcos around the world ban phones they detect with a non-unique IMEI, but I've also seen plenty of instances of people on here who have used their phone just fine with the generic one.
If you don't have a backup & really really need to get your IMEI back because your phone doesn't work, you need to contact Odia on here. He can apparently recover your IMEI (most of the time) in situations where it might otherwise be really hard to do (for a small 'donation').
So first up, answer the questions about EFS backup/whether you have one & also if you're able to use the phone normally & we can go from there.

I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try.
Open kies.
On the Taskbar select tools and then firmware upgrade and initialisation.
Enter the model name in caps. Ie GT-I9300 and hit ok.
Then enter the serial number written under the battery.
Then do as it says on the pc screen and put your phone in download mode.
Then Flash.
This will restore the phone to compete stock region included this might fix the issue.

So, after some intens reading and trying it doesn't work. There is no backup left on the phone and it looks completely clean. In phone explorer it says the system maps are empty. So the maps are there but no files or backups.
Any other solution?

Deleted IMEI (NO BACKUPS)

Hi guys, hopefully you can help me here as I'm at my wits end. I've tried everything I can think off and can't fix this blasted phone.
To be honest I have no idea how all of a sudden I lost my nv_data.bin and IMEI as first my phone wouldn't boot because of an error with the /efs folder.
After numerous searches online I managed to finally get it working by using odin and flashing CM9 for the Galaxy S2, I tried others and none of them worked. From here I used tools like GSII Repair and Ktool and was able to create a nv_data.bin but IMEI still gone but at least I'm back to having a baseband.
My issue is now that I can't restore my IMEI number any backups or nv_data.bin or.baks where gone, I tried all the tricks online to restore and nothing.
I have the generic IMEI "004999010640000" and of course can't connect to mobile network.
Is there anyway that I can manually add in the IMEI number to fix this issue??
Thanks in advance.
I haven't read to much into it, but the below might help.

They may have better tools than we do.
You could try flashing the ROM the device came with.
I too have this issue with a friend's phone (as some dumb ass tech guy flashed a branded firmware without backing up EFS) , so I have to flash any ROM I can get my hands on without the certainty that it would actually work.
Some guys did report that it worked.

you need special hardware to recreate the efs folder and rewrite the imei.. changing the imei is illegal on most countries so its obvious that it wont be easy to change... the service center has the tools to recreate the efs folder... flashing software will not fix the corrupted efs and would probably make it even worse...
our methods for flashing:
computer ----> phone
specialists and service center:
computer ----> "special hardware" ----> phone
you can do a search on the internet on what "special hardware" they use but i doubt that that would be for sale in a country where changing imei is illegal
software alone cannot recreate the efs folder nor write a new imei.. all you can do without the hardware is try to recover your corrupted efs if still possible.. if it comes to the point that it needs to be recreated or rewritten then it would be impossible without the said hardware

[Q] ROMs do not work on Mobile Network

I have tried 3 ROMs.
One did not have a phone app and anyway did not register on the mobile network. The other two showed full bars on the network but said 'failed to register' even though 'registered on network' was reported when I connected to a network following a scan.
So I am assuming that there is no modem?? - though why a ROM should be produced without one I can't imagine.
I looked around for a modem to download. I can't find one. Further, virtually everywhere I look Odin is used to do installations. As I use Linux there is very little information to help me, I might be on the wrong track anyway.
So, my phone is non-operational atm :crying: Can anyone help please?
Check if your imei is still there ! Sometimes after flashing ROM s the imei is gone ! Poof ! No connection

A bit of a learning curve to put back the stock ROM. The reason why I wanted a new ROM is because of all the trouble I've had since the last Samsung firmware update. Multivarious problems! Of course I should have done a back up but I have flashed ROMs on other phones before and been perfectly OK - oh well, lesson definitely learned!!
Anyway, should the worst come to the worst, which it probably will, and I need to get it fixed, do I send it back to Samsung or is there somewhere local that you know [you are located about 7 miles from me ]
It depends on the issue really. If the imei and serial are correct, no need to do anything.
Sending to samsung can be a long process so sometimes if your imei has gone, a mobile phone repair shop can fix for say £20. It shouldn't affect warranty.
Where are you?

We could if we had something that would allow these files to be converted to a format that is readable by a hex editor, and then convert them back. I have been trying to find something like this for a while but I can't find anything. If anyone knows and would be willing to share, I am sure a great many of us would appreciate it!
Tks @hoangnova :good:
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz

i dont know if this can be directly applied, mainly because i dont know the relevance of the extra numbers he is adding. other than that it looks reasonably generic.
since the first part is just a bunch of unnecessary steps to see if re-flashing stock will fix it, i would go ahead and re-flash stock to see if you really lost the imie or not. its not going to make matters worse, it will either fix it or not.

A bit of cleanup here.
I understand that we run into situations where we need to fix a messed up EFS or the IMEI goes to all zero or something like that, but unfortunately due to legal reasons we don't allow talking about changing IMEI numbers...
I am closing this since OP has seemed to fix his issue..
