Has anyone managed to install Whatsapp on their tf300?
Try backing it up on your phone with Titanium Backup, copy the backup file to your tablet and restore it there.
Did just that. It wont come out properly. The app just wont show up.
Ok, how about this - get the apk of WhatsApp from your phone and put it on your tablet and install it. Then go to Titanium Backup and just restore data from the backup you made on your phone.
This is what I've done (just remembered this now, thought you just had to copy the backup and restore it) when I was experimenting with Android on my netbook a couple of months ago and it worked
The app actually checks if it's a tablet trying to run it. Prolly need to dig out the manifest and change it since that has nothing to do with user data and can not be altered via titanium or any other backup tool.
Works for me! (see the attachment)
Here's what I did:
- copied WhatsApp's apk from my phone to the tablet
- made a backup of WhatsApp in Titanium Backup on my phone
- installed WA from the apk I just copied on the tablet
- copied the 3 files Titanium Backup made for WA's backup from the phone to the tablet (obviously you need to put those files to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup)
- ran TB on my tablet, only restored data for WA
- ran WA and it worked

can you do this with a non rooted phone?
Does the phone used have to be the one you want to send the whatsapp messages from?
how do i copy the apk?

No, you need root on your phone as Titanium Backup won't work otherwise. The apk is in /data/app, but you'd also need root to access that folder.
You'd need a backup made on your phone, since WhatsApp uses your phone number to send/show messages. If someone else would send you their backups, you'd see their messages and would send messages in their name as well, so that isn't a possibility.

Thanks. it's a shame. i Haven't rooted my xperia play. Would it work if i inserted my sim card into the rooted phone?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA
Probably. If you do that, check if WhatsApp shows your conversations and you should be good to go.

where can i find the apk? I know you said data/app but how do i even get to that folder?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA
You'll need a file browser that can go to the root "folder" (not sure if that's the right expression, hah) your phone, like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer, as the data folder is there.

Got it working thanks a lot Yeah I forgot to install the app first before actually trying to restore data.
@ w3by Thanks!!! Successfully installed!
I think i know the answer to that, but i'm going to ask anyway...:silly:
there's no way of copying my WA files the same way from my iPhone to
my TF300...right?
so just wait for a supported version, should it even be released...?
thanks
That I don't really know because its an Iphone. I never use apple products. But if its an android to android thing then something can be done
it works quite easy but you can only use it on one device otherwise WA bugs you do death with verifying your phonenumber.
if you backup with TB all i needed to do is restore it and it worked - but my gnex was also running it at that time so both devices went bezerk with the verifying your number. i killed it on my gnex and used the sms verify and WA worked like a charm on my tf300 - tho since i use my phone on the road mosty i deleted it again on the tab - but it definetly works - tho ofc updates will have to copied over via TB backup since the playstore wont update it (same with LBE privacy guard - not available for tabs but works the same)
cheers
PS: for iphone:

get the apk for your tab and enter your phone number and get the sms actication us the pin you get by sms and enter it on your tf300 - bear in mind tho that you still face the same probs i mentioned above- WA cant be used by more than one device simultaniously
(it goes without saying that you prolly should install with TB - so you need root)

Hi
I like this app browser2ram but cache and history are deleted every time i turn off my Asus prime
Is there asolution to solve this?
Email the developer.

The app works by creating a RAM drive on which to store the browser data so by definition this gets wiped on reboot. Apparently it does save the "local bookmarks" data to disk every 12 hours and before each reboot but this is no use if you are syncing with Chrome bookmarks via your Google account.
I am no developer but I imagine TheOnionKnight doesn't think it is worth the extra work to get all the data saved for a project which is very much a stop-gap while Asus pulls its finger out and gets the browser working correctly.
Personally I find having to re-sync the browser on every reboot a small price to pay for the huge increase in smoothness this script gives us.
Where is this app? I tried the market but couldn't find it.

The app is fantastic. Honestly I could care less about cache and history. It saves bookmarks and is very fast. http://mark-tech.blogspot.com/2012/06/browser2ram-fixes-transformer-prime.html

Does this script/app work with all of the browsers or only the stock one?

Works only on the stock browser:good:
issue
I've DL the file multiple times even from drop box. When I go to install it says I have no space and gives me the option to manage apps. But I have 24gigs of storage left and also uninstalled 3 apps and cleared its cache. I've read that a factory data wipe "might" work.
Any thoughts?

I think after few changes it could work with any browser. When I get to my home computer (monday) I'll try to modify it for Chrome.
Jelly Bean update
I installed browser2ram and it worked fine.
However, this morning i received the JB update, but it wouldn't work. did it happen the same to you?
I have read this concern and found my own way of fixing it.
More than likely ur getting these issues because ur upgraded or didn't wipe when flashing a rom
How to fix
Back up your stuff
Perform factory reset
For locked devices go to Asus and download your current firmware.
Copy that to your internal sd card not in a specific folder.
Reboot device and let it update ur device again
This fixed my prime and my brother in laws tf101
For custom unlocked folks
Wipe all and wipe all system, data, cache, then install rom of choice and when u restore your Apps from like tiBU like me, only restore app not data

Do you mind panning around Google Earth, specifically in NYC with 3D buildings enabled? I'm curious to know whether this process has had any effect on the ANRs under these circumstances.
Google Earth in NYC with 3d buildings enabled and I got 3 Wait or close pop ups, it lagged big time too.
I don't ever use earth on anything because Google maps is fine for me.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
Thank you for checking. I don't regularly use it either, but it's a cool app and I'd like to be able to use it on occasion.
I noticed that it hangs up a lot more with 3d buildings enabled. I tried it without that and it was much smoother.
Pretty bad considering this is the most power Android device available

Earth plays much better after clearing all the data in app manager and in the setting of earth

Exactly. My dual-core Galaxy Nexus runs Earth with 3D buildings beautifully. It's a travesty that I can't view them on my more powerful 10" tablet. Come on, Asus.

I did that and though I noticed an improvement at first, too. But after using it a little more, the complete freezes and lockups, and ANRs all resumed.

I've read instructions on other threads that suggest putting the firmware on an external sd card and running the install from that. Will that do anything different that doing it from the internal sd card? Will the update be found automatically when the tablet launches after the wipe, or do you need to trigger it: either by selecting the file itself or via the setting menu->check updates button?
After you did that, did you reboot, do a soft reset, or cold boot again immediately before setting up any accounts or downloading apps? Did you let Google download all your previous apps, or did you do so selectively, and in any particular order? I'm new at this, and hoping to get my tablet running better and not worse by the end of it all...
Thanks!
no u have to have it on the root of the internal sd card.
All this does is updates it but uses the entire rom instead of pieces. CWM doesnt allow you to install from ext sd either

I'm on PoolParty (uh, 1.4 iirc) on my Fasc, and it has the /datadata limit; the partition is small, and if I have too much data in there (too many apps or large caches, and when I say "too many" I mean around eighty, including the standard Gallery/Email/etc. apps), everything starts crashing. First the keyboard, then every single app. Can I fix this somehow? I've done searches and haven't found anything, and I'm getting an S3 soon (would an AOSP ROM on that have the same issue?), but I'd like to at least have this thing stop crashing.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
Try an ICS ROM annd kernel.
ICS roms have the same issue. There's a new app in the Play Store called "Datafix" by zatta that can help you manage which apps whose cache you want moved out of /datadata to /data/data. It works wonders.

Oh my god, that's beautiful. I love you.
Edit: it appears it won't recognize my phone as being compatible. Could you throw me an apk?
I guess they haven't updated the app to run old older AOSP roms. Here's the thread it came from. Maybe you can still use the script.

i want to back up app data only (like progress of game, settings of app)
i can use the built in asus app backup to do this, but i want to restore data on other devices, not just asus devices, so i need another solution. and for some reason, the built in asus appbackup cannot back up temple run game progress (i tried riptide gp and it restored successfully, anyway like i said i don't want to use this built in app although it's cool )
i tried titanium backup (free version) but it backs up the app AND app data, which is unnecessary (at least for me)
please suggest an app, thanks
[i'm rooted]
TB should do the trick, shouldn't it?

You can back up both, but if you want, you can restore just the data or just the app

i know, but i don't want to backup app + data, i just want data only,
because it takes a long time to back up app + data, for example: i'm playing riptide on my tablet, i want to back up data, upload to dropbox, go to my phone, i can just download the app data and restore it, then continue the riptide progress,
i don't want to back up both app + data, it takes a long time to back up and upload, and is not necessary, if you're on 3G or 4G you're just wasting your cellular data.
so except the built in app backup, no other app can do this? really?
