[Q] Shattered Att Galaxy s2 screen preventing contact transfer - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have shattered the screen of my AT&T Galaxy S2. It will power up but screen is completely black. I cant upgrade until Oct and will reluctantly use my wife's old Iphone 3g. All my contacts were on phone and backup on Gmail. Does anyone know of a way to transfer my 700 plus contacts to an I phone without being able to use screen on my Galaxy?

If they are on Google just access them on gmail.com in the contacts section
Although a better idea is to keep using Google sync on the iPhone (I setup my contacts list for Android 6 months before I actually got the phone using a iPod Touch)

Syncing from Samsung Kies to HTC1 S

Hi, I recently broke the screen on my SGII (does not turn on at all) and had to get a replacement phone so I chose to get the HTC1 S. I managed to sync all my data from my SGII to samsung kies, is there any way to sync all this data to my HTC1S?

is there anyway to get contacts off this phone?
If you could somehow get to this location you would be able to catch them: /data/data/*.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db

[Q] Water Damage- Trying to Recover Contacts (Only boots to recovery/download)

I have a non rooted Samsung Galaxy SIII on Verizon (now deactivated). Last year the phone was submerged in water for a few seconds. I did the usual wet phone tricks and it worked for about 6 months. Recently it has been randomly restarting until a few days ago when it would not boot up.
When booting, I get to the Samsung logo screen then the phone will shut off. I AM able to boot to recovery and download mode but I cannot turn it on fully. Most of my data has been backed up (photos, videos, app info) but I must have made an error when backing up my contacts on Verizon's backup assistant and I have not backup of them.
I am looking for any way to get my contacts. Any solution I can find online requires that the phone be rooted which it is not and I do not think I can do as it won't turn on. I am not sure if USB debugging is enabled or not.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Maybe i'm stating the obvious but login here www.google.com/contacts and see if your contacts are there.
Or is it possible that you have your contacts stored on your SIM card? Mine are, as even though you can only store basic phone number info per contact, it makes it very easy when switching phones.

help recovering SMS's from s3 with broken screen

Hi guys,
I recently managed to launch my phone from my pocket at over 100ft on a fun fair ride - clever. It now boots up, makes the noises when booting and has the blue LED light as expected but the screen is dead.
I think I received a good few text messages while the screen was dead but it was on, and now I have my sim in another old phone (HTC wildfire S) I expected I would see all these unread texts but I do not. I am guessing these texts went to the s3 phone storage?
So I have a few questions:
]Do SMS back up to google accounts automatically? If so how can I recover them to the new phone?
Is there any way of me seeing the unread texts from my s3 through a USB connection to a PC? as it still connects to a computer and I can view the data.
I looked into controlling the screen of the broken s3 from a PC and it seems you need USB debugging turned on and I couldn't figure a way of doing that without the screen being on - anyone know if that is possible?
I also looked at getting a micro USB to HDMI adapter to try contol the screen from a computer, something like this - would that work? Micro USB MHL to HDMI Cable adapter HDTV Samsung Galaxy S3 S III i9300 S4 I9500 | eBay Is that something that could work?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have managed to back up my messages using 'samsung Kies 3' which creates a 'Message.sme' file, any ideas if there is a way I could view this .sme file on a computer? I have done some research with no luck so far...

I'm having the same problem, but with my S4. I've since replaced it with a nexus 5, but have important info stored on sms on my old phone that I need access to.

Is there any way to remotely change settings on a Galaxy Alpha with a broken LCD?

I have a Galaxy Alpha with a broken screen from a drop. The device seems to be able to boot up, but screen is black so I cant even see anything. Samsung is asking me for 2/3 of what I paid for it, in order to replace the broken screen. Which is a non-starter.
The phone is really only of use to me as a "home" for the Gear app for syncing my Samsung Gear S watch. Unfortunately I had the phone offline and sync was off, at the time I dropped it. I'd rather not buy another phone just as a home for the watch and obviously, I dont want pay for a new screen when the cost is almost price of buying the phone.
Is there anyway for me to turn on the sync remotely or via a host PC? Just so I can turn the sync on and keep being able to use the email on my smartwatch. I have tried the find my phone on Google dashboard but my only option there is to wipe the device or make a call to it, but I cant control any of the settings otherwise.
Any ideas helpful...
