Is this possible? Does anyone have any ideas about how I might go about doing this?
My 3.2 Thrive Tablet has a select all option when copying and pasting, but my new 4.04 One X does not. I want it! Even if it means I need to remove another option.
If it's specific to applications, the application I need it for is Pulse News, which is the same version on both devices.
Anyone?
Thank you for any information! Even if it's just a direction to look in!

I've downloaded, searched, and I think it's just a problem with the software. I first discovered this, when trying to add Japanese to the tablet. My Japanese girlfriend wants to input Japanese text. I said sure, although it wasn't listed in the Android Keyboards, I went to download an Android Keyboard App. But it wouldn't work!
Here's the problem:
I download and see it on the lists of keyboards to select, but it isn't selectable!
I ignored the problem, but when the SixxAxis.apk came out and I wanted to be able to play NES Roms, I can't select this controller in the keyboard section.
Anyone discover this also? Anyone have a fix for it?
Maybe the next version can include a Japanese input?
This is a known issue. The solution is to move the keyboard apk into the system apps folder. Root Explorer will do the trick.
If all that's required, you are a god send! Thank you for letting me know, I'm going to try this right now.
So all I do is put whatever keyboard into the system apps folder. Okay...
How about Japanese Text Input? Anywhere to install this as an Android Keyboard?
Okay, just tried it...and it won't let me. It says that the system/app folder is read protected. I'm pretty good with computers, but this tablet isn't working well for me.
I feel kind of noobish.
Any help? Can you put instructions if possible?
I think I found the reason... you have to touch the small mount button first.
When I go to select the keyboard it still won't select. I placed the apk in the system/app folder like mentioned, but no change.
Anything else that's needed?
I had forgotten the last step. Find a text input box and long press. Select input method and then select your desired keyboard. An alternate method can also be found here: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummie...2-04-replace-soft-keyboard-in-tnt-based-roms-
I'm not a stupid user...but this is still not working. Btw, the link you posted didn't work with the file.
I really would like to use my PS3 controller on this thing. Japanese would make the woman happy too.
Anyone have any Japanese keyboards? Point me to the .apk!
Hi,
I'm hoping somebody knows the answer to my question, I have a friend who has a bit of software in the android market. It used to show up for my Cyanogen Mod7 Nook Tablet, he had everything selected in the market submit software so it showed for pretty much every device I guess. I removed a lot of device because it didn't work well on all. The problem is it also removed it form the market on my CM7 Nook tablet.
SO the problem is he can't see what one to re select to get it avaiulable for me again. Does anybody know if there is some sort of generic device he could select that will make it show for the Cyanogen mod OS on my tablet again please?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Thanks, I'll look into that one.
I was hoping to find out seeing as we had control of how the app was added to market that we'd find what we needed to select device wise to get it to show up properly without having to do anything on the device my end.
Hi all,
I'm lately using a lot in the HDMI port.
I have a couple of questions, first, what roms natively support LS?
Second, I'm looking for a way to know where to touch the screen without looking on it,just by looking at the big screen.
Meaning I need some kind of pointer to show where my finger is currently touching.
I saw it in a youtube video, named "Android 4.0.1 ICS on HTC Desire S(With Show Touch)".
People who run CM9, can anyone see this option?
Do you know another of doing it, in CM7 maybe?
10x,
Adam
Go to settings - development you will find it there, else debug menu entry if on cm7

EDIT: ANSWERED. See Reply #2.
I can't take this anymore. I've hated it since the day I upgraded to 4.0, but I can't take it anymore.
Google decided that nobody wants to view all buddies and sort by availability at the same time. Apparently, they've never met anyone with a huge buddy list.
How do I make the ICS Talk app sort ALL buddies by availability, not just my most frequently contacted ones? And if I can't, is the 4.1 or 4.2 version capable? If not, will replacing it with the GB Talk.apk do any harm?
Thanks, guys. Google royally screwed up on this one.

I don't know how to make it sort the buddy list the way you want, but you can try reinstalling the gingerbread version (Just make sure you make a nandroid backup first so you can easily fix things if anything goes wrong).

Ohh, thank you, God. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to rooting the Droid 4. I figured it out.
To make Talk.apk sort *everyone* by availability, not just the most popular contacts:
Open Settings -> Apps -> All -> Talk and hit "Force Stop"
Open a root terminal on your device.
cd /data/data/com.google.android.talk/shared_prefs/
edit BuddyListCombo.xml in your preferred root-capable text editor. I used the busybox "vi", but if others exist, feel free to use them.
change the value for "gtalk-view-mode" to 1
change the value for "gtalk-sort-mode" to 0
save file and exit
You should now be able to bring up Talk.apk and see all contacts sorted by availability.
WARNING: DO NOT bring up the "View Options" settings within the app after doing this. Because you can't sort this way from the GUI, anything you do will overwrite the file with one of the three options available in that GUI. You'll have to do this all over again.
Edit: Typo correction
Edit 2: make instructions more generic
my question is simple
I want to know that if there is a modified version of android somewhere out there that that doesn't have anything on it like gmail, google play, or anything other than the browser and the drop down menu.
I am wondering because i want to modify it to the point that it is mine. i also want to make a version that will be compatible with VERY low spec systems
thank you for all your help.
